Memory Delay Comparison between 2D GPU and 3D GPU

As process technology scales down, the number of cores integrated into a processor increases dramatically, leading to significant performance improvement. Especially, the GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) containing many cores can provide high computational performance by maximizing the parallelism. In the GPU architecture, the access latency to the main memory becomes one of the major reasons restricting the performance improvement. In this work, we analyze the performance improvement of the 3D GPU architecture compared to the 2D GPU architecture quantitatively and investigate the potential problems of the 3D GPU architecture. In general, memory instructions account for 30% of total instructions, and global/local memory instructions constitutes 60% of total memory instructions. Therefore, the performance of the 3D GPU is expected to be improved significantly compared to the 2D GPU by reducing the delay of memory instructions. However, according to our experimental results, the 3D architecture improves the GPU performance only by 2% compared to the 2D architecture due to the memory bottleneck, since the performance reduction due to memory bottleneck in the 3D GPU architecture increases by 245% compared to the 2D architecture. This paper provides the guideline for suitable memory design by analyzing the efficiency of the memory architecture in 3D GPU architecture.
Implementation of Ubiquitous Software Robot Platform based on Web 2.0

In this paper, we design and implement the architecture of the ubiquitous software robot platform (Sobot platform) based on Web 2.0. In order to provide a user with the personalized emotional service by transferring to any device without any time or geographical limitations, the software robot must be developed as a form of a platform based on the standardized data and structures. To verify the effectiveness and the feasibility of the proposed Sobot platform consisting of the terminal platform, the server platform, and the contents composer, we compose user-created emotional Sobot contents messages on heterogeneous platforms such as PC, a mobile phone, a PDA, and a web portal site and experiment a variety of Sobot transfer implementation between them.

There is a method which identifies validity of program by transforming program to verification condition to verify program. If program is verified by generating verification condition, verification condition must have enough and accurate information for verifying program. However, verification condition is consisting of logical formulas, so the user cannot easily identify the verification condition. In this paper, we implemented program that visualize the poorly readable verification conditions. By the program, the users can easily identify information, such as the relationship between logical formulas that represent verification condition.

In With increase of a demand on the spatial data, the need of spatial data model which can effectively store and manege spatial objects becomes more important in many GIS applications. There are many researches on the spatial data model. Several data models were proposed for some special functions, however, there are still many problems in the management and applications. Digital Map is one of spatial data model which is being used in Korea. The existing Digital Map is based on the Tiles. This approach needs more cost in its construction and management. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a feature-based seamless data model with Digital map 2.0 which is based on Tiles. This model can be easily constructed and managed in the large databases so that it is able to apply to any systems. The proposed model uses the relationships between features to correct updated data and the Unique Feature IDentifier(UFID) also makes system to search and manage the feature data more easily and efficiently.
Crowd Density Estimation with Multi-class Adaboost in elevator

In this paper, an crowd density in elevator estimation method based on multi-class Adaboost classifier is proposed. The SOM (Self-Organizing Map) based conventional methods have shown insufficient performance in practical scenarios and have weakness for low reproducibility. The proposed method estimates the crowd density using multi-class Adaboost classifier with texture features, namely, GLDM(Grey-Level Dependency Matrix) or GGDM(Grey-Gradient Dependency Matrix). In order to classify into multi-label, weak classifier which have better performance is generated by modifying a weight update equation of general Adaboost algorithm. The crowd density is classified into four categories depending on the number of persons in the crowd, which can be 0 person, 1-2 people, 3-4 people, and 5 or more people. The experimental results under indoor environment show the proposed method improves detection rate by about 20% compared to that of the conventional method.
Real-time Gaussian Hole-Filling Algorithm using Reverse-Depth Image

Existing method of creating Stereoscopy image, creates viewpoint image from the left and right by shooting one object with 2 lens in certain distance. However, in case of 3-D TV using Stereoscopy camera, the necessity to transmit 2 viewpoint images from the left and right simultaneously, increases the amount of bandwidth. Various and more effective alternatives are under discussion. Among the alternatives, DIBR(Depth Image Based Rendering) creates viewpoint images from the left and right using one image and its Depth information, thus decreasing the amount of transmitted bandwidth. For this reason, there have been various studies on Algorithm to create DIBR Image in existing Static Scene. In this paper, I would like to suggest Gaussian Hole-filling solution, which utilizes reverse-depth image to fill the hole naturally, while minimizing distortion of background. In addition, we have analyzed the effectiveness of each Algorithm by comparing and calculating its functions.
Detection of Pavement Borderline in Natural Scene using Radial Region Split for Visually Impaired Person

This paper proposes an efficient method that helps a visually impaired person to detect a pavement borderline. A pedestrian is equipped with a camera so that the front view of a natural scene is captured. Our approach analyzes the captured image and detects the borderline of a pavement in a very robust manner. Our approach performs the task in two steps. In a first step, our approach detects a vanishing point and vanishing lines by applying an edge operator. The edge operator is designed to take a threshold value adaptively so that it can handle a dynamic environment robustly. The second step is to determine the borderlines of a pavement based on vanishing lines detected in the first step. It analyzes the vanishing lines to form VRays that confines the pavement only. The VRays segments out the pavement region in a radial manner. We compared our approach against Canny edge detector. Experimental results show that our approach detects borderlines of a pavement very accurately in various situations.
Performance Enhancement of OFDM Systems (Using Interference cancellation schemes of TD(Transmit Diversity))

Using OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) provides the same diversity order as MRRC(Maximal Ratio Receiver Combining). It is assumed that fading channel is constant across two consecutive symbols. Unfortunately, when the channel condition is changed for the two consecutive symbols, the OFDM using STBC(Space Time Block Code) does not offer good performance due to the large doppler shift. In this paper, we have proposed a performance enhancement scheme for OFDM using STBC over time-selective fading channel. Simulation results for various doppler shift rates are presented to robust system performance of OFDM due to using our proposed scheme over time-selective fading channel.
Fast Construction of Three Dimensional Steiner Minimum Tree Using PTAS

In this paper, PTAS three-dimensional Steiner minimum tree connecting numerous input nodes rapidly in 3D space is proposed. Steiner minimum tree problem belongs to NP problem domain, and when properly devised heuristic introduces, it is generally superior to other algorithms as minimum spanning tree affiliated with P problem domain. But when the number of input nodes is very large, the problem requires excessive execution time. In this paper, a method using PTAS is proposed to solve the difficulty. In experiments for 70,000 input nodes in 3D space, the tree produced by the proposed 8 space partitioned PTAS method reduced 86.88% execution time, compared with the tree by naive 3D steiner minimum tree method, though increased 0.81% tree length. This affirms the proposed method can work well for applications that many nodes of three dimensions are need to connect swifty, enduring slight increase of tree length.
m-Health System for Processing of Clinical Biosignals based Android Platform

Management of biosignal data in mobile devices causes many problems in real-time transmission of large volume of multimedia data or storage devices. Therefore, this research paper intends to suggest an m-Health system, a clinical data processing system using mobile in order to provide quick medical service. This system deployed health system on IP network, compounded outputs from many bio sensing in remote sites and performed integrated data processing electronically on various bio sensors. The m-health system measures and monitors various biosignals and sends them to data servers of remote hospitals. It is an Android-based mobile application which patients and their family and medical staff can use anywhere anytime. Medical staff access patient data from hospital data servers and provide feedback on medical diagnosis and prescription to patients or users. Video stream for patient monitoring uses a scalable transcoding technique to decides data size appropriate for network traffic and sends video stream, remarkably reducing loads of mobile systems and networks.
Structural vulnerability analysis and improvement of a biometrics-based remote user authentication scheme of Li and Hwang`s

Recently, Li and Hwang scheme proposed a biometrics-based remote user authentication scheme using smart card. It is asserted that this scheme has very excellent benefits by the operation cost efficiency based on the smart card, one-way function and biometrics using random numbers. But this scheme cannot provide the properly authentication, especially, it is analyzed as the vulnerable security scheme for Denial-of-Service(DoS) attacks by impersonate attacks. The attacker controls the insecure channel, they can easily fabricate messages to pass the user`s or server`s authentication, and the malicious attacker can impersonate the user to cheat the server and can impersonate the server to cheat the user without knowing any secret information. This paper proposes the strong improved scheme which can respond to multiple attacks by supplementing the function of integrity check from the server which applied variable authenticator and OSPA without exposing the user`s password information. It is supplemented pregnable of disguise attack and mutual authentication of Li and Hwang scheme.
Implementation of Personal Certification Using i-PIN Service

Recently IT infrastructure plays a central role in the base of the society. However, use of personal registration number on internet sites has become a major factor increasing danger of leaking of personal information. Currently, the government is recommending various information protection services in order to prevent the collection of personal registration numbers and leaking of personal information on the internet. Among them, i-PIN service is the one recommended for minimal use of personal registration numbers on the internet. Although i-PIN can be used as a way to substitute personal registration numbers on the internet, there are certain limitations in using i-PIN as the only key to recognize individuals. This study proposes organization of web system in which self certification can be conducted using i-PIN as a tool for personal certification. Also its usability and stability have been verified through performance test when i-PIN service is linked with web service and used as personal certificate. But i-PIN service is unavailable if obstacles occur in providers of i-PIN self certification. To settle this inconvenience, the study also proposes how to cope with such obstacles.
A Study on the Consumer-focused Quality Factor of Health Information Websites

Despite of increasing pressure of opening to free for medical market by an advanced nation and increasing number of portal websites for health information, there have been few studies on the issues of enhancing the service quality of health information websites. The survey exhibited that the quality factors mainly affect significant and satisfied level of health information websites were usability, information structure and contents, interaction, and revisiting. This study was conducted to develop the consumer-focused quality factor of health information websites using WebQual model which was valued at efficient evaluation tool for this information system The methods taken in this research was to survey quality factors for significant and satisfied level of 323 consumers live in Chungcheong-do which is based on 48 questionnaires of WebQual quality factors. Our research extracted quality factors, usability, information quality (information structure and contents), interaction (personalisation and privacy) about view of criticality and satisfaction and relevant degree of revisiting. The research results presented in the paper will provide an efficient way of installing healthcare websites, moreover stone toward a marketing strategy for the consumer focus website provides under fierce competition.
A Design and Implementation of Mobile Logistics Information System

In this paper, we implement an m-LIS(Mobile-Logistics Information System) for an effective logistics management in consideration of logistics process and work environment. The m-LIS could perform the entire business process every minute and promote the work efficiency by tying up with ERP and POS system. Moreover, this system could enhance the management level of service and supply chain. Due to the reason that the existing logistics business was not computerized and automated, most of operation was accomplished by means of workers experience and convention. This problem brought about both the ineffective management and logistics quality deterioration by weakening the control power of the logistics site. In order to solve this problem, we put focus on providing the real-time operation monitoring environment on the spot, the satisfaction of the efficiency on the spot, and the optimized system by building up the logistics information system. Furthermore, we attest that the new logistics system could properly cope with the increase of the quantity of goods transported owing to stable logistics information support and the market expansion and growth caused by the firm interface between the new ERP and its related system.
Research on prototype of UT-based u-public transit application service of u-Gov

The evolution of u-Gov will play a big impact due to the development of information and communication technology. The evolution plays as a critical mean for the government innovation which pursues the value of new administration. In this paper, through an analysis of the difference between e-Gov and u-Gov, I suggested the composition of prototype system of u-public transit application services which can be applied to u-Gov. I also studied the method for removing unstable elements of e-Gov which may occur when the prototype is implemented and the implications of the its UT-based policy for responding to u-public transit.
The Estimation of Hand Pose Based on Mean-Shift Tracking Using the Fusion of Color and Depth Information for Marker-less Augmented Reality

This paper proposes a new method of estimating the hand pose through the Mean-Shift tracking algorithm using the fusion of color and depth information for marker-less augmented reality. On marker-less augmented reality, the most of previous studies detect the hand region using the skin color from simple experimental background. Because finger features should be detected on the hand, the hand pose that can be measured from cameras is restricted considerably. However, the proposed method can easily detect the hand pose from complex background through the new Mean-Shift tracking method using the fusion of the color and depth information from 3D sensor. The proposed method of estimating the hand pose uses the gravity point and two random points on the hand without largely constraints. The proposed Mean-Shift tracking method has about 50 pixels error less than general tracking method just using color value. The augmented reality experiment of the proposed method shows results of its performance being as good as marker based one on the complex background.
The Factors that Affects the Employment Type of The Graduates by Data-mining Approach

Data mining technique can be adapted to analysing Employment information in order to discover valuable information out of large data. As the issue employment such as jobless of college graduate, recruitment for women, recruitment for elders etc. became social problem, there are many efforts of various public employment services and studies. The factors that affects the college graduate`s employment type (regular, temporary, daily) can be used to guide employment and to prepare employment for college students. In analyzing large number of attributes and the huge amount of data elements, regular statistical methods faces their limitation; therefore, data-mining technique is more suitable for the dataset of about 170 attributes and 20,000 elements. We divide the factors that may affect the employment type into personal factor, school factor, company factor, and experience factor; decision tree algorithm is used to find out the interesting relationship between the attributes of the factors and employment type. Personal factors such as the income of parents and marital status were the most affective factors to the employment type. The learned decision tree was able to classify the employment type with 87% of accuracy. We also assume the level of the school affects the employment type of the graduates.
The Service Quality of Home Trading System: Its Impact on Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty

The purpose of this study is to investigate the home trading system (HTS) of the security companies in order to examine the critical factors of HTS service quality and the effect of these factors on HTS customer satisfaction and loyalty. The results show : (1) the quality factors of HTS are assurance, reliability, tangible, responsiveness, and empathy, (2) and these quality factors significantly affect customer satisfaction on HTS and customer satisfaction and loyalty to the security company. (3) Also, customer satisfaction on HTS plays an important role in improving customer satisfaction and loyalty to the security company.
