The Design of Parallel Processing S/W Using CUDA for Realtime 3D Laser Ladar Imaging System

In this paper, we propose a CUDA(Common Unified Device Architecture) based SW(software) design method for CPU(Central Processing Unit) and GPU(Graphic Processing Unit) parallel structure to implement real-time process in 3D Laser ladar(LADAR) imaging system. LADAR is a complex system to generate 3-dimensional image based on the laser ranging information, and requires massive process resources in each phase. Therefore, designing and implementing parallel structure are crucial to realize a real-time process within limited system resource. As a conclusion, we can meet the speed of required real-time process allocating separable work load to CUDA GPU by analyzing process algorithm in each phase and confirm the process speed increase by 46%.
Implementing Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance of Autonomous Multi-Mobile Robot System

For an autonomous multi-mobile robot system, path planning and collision avoidance are important functions used to perform a given task collaboratively and cooperatively. This study considers these important and challenging problems. The proposed approach is based on a potential field method and fuzzy logic system. First, a global path planner selects the paths of the robots that minimize the cost function from each robot to its own target using a potential field. Then, a local path planner modifies the path and orientation from the global planner to avoid collisions with static and dynamic obstacles using a fuzzy logic system. In this paper, each robot independently selects its destination and considers other robots as dynamic obstacles, and there is no need to predict the motion of obstacles. This process continues until the corresponding target of each robot is found. To test this method, an autonomous multi-mobile robot simulator (AMMRS) is developed, and both simulation-based and experimental results are given. The results show that the path planning and collision avoidance strategies are effective and useful for multi-mobile robot systems.
The Method of 3D Stereoscopic Animation Editing Using Layers

The current software for creating and editing animation offers the possibility of dividing variable objects into layers. This paper suggests a method to render and edit each of right and left layer in the process of creating a 3D stereoscopic animation. It is possible to apply a variety of effects to left and right images and to adjust the gap of binocular parallax through this method so that wider variation of images and richer sense of depth can be produced. In addition, this method offers freedom of deleting and inserting an object, controlling size and position of the object and adjusting the gap of binocular parallax. Thus, new sense of depth can be obtained. This method shows the results to apply various effects on the 3D stereoscopic image and to reduce visual fatigue rather than the method to render simultaneously both of left and right layer.
A case study on the importance of non-intrusiveness of mobile devices in an interactive museum environment

This research sheds light on the non-intrusive traits of mobile devices (Electronic Guidebook, Rememberer, I-Guides and eXspot) deployed in Exploratorium for enhancing visitor experience via case studies. In an interactive exhibition environment, non-intrusiveness was the key to supporting the immersive experience and meaning-making for visitors. The usability of hand-held devices directly impacted on the non-intrusiveness, thereby reshaping the form-factors of mobile devices. The change in from-factor has also minimized the functions of devices as the remember of museum experience. Furthermore, the role of mobile devices, which turned from a supposed multi-media guide to a mere rememberer, made them virtually impossible for realizing the "seamless visiting model" originally planned. An array of projects carried out in Exploration have achieved some degree of success such as increasing viewing time as well as reinforcing post-visit activities. However, taken from musicological perspective, increase in viewing time is by all means insufficient to be taken as proof since it is assumed to be achieved by photo-taking (i.e. MyExploratorium) rather than by interacting between visitors and exhibits. This issue --increased viewing time -- needs to be analyzed in depth. All in all, mobile devices used in Exploratorium can be defined as a learning tool/educational supporting medium based on personalization for (visitors`) optimizing extended museum experience.
A Study on user experience design for efficient control of Smart TV

In this paper research covers a study on the need for smart TV according to smart TV `smart` of issues, consider the changing elements of paradigm, according to the evolution of TV, from the point of view of the user experience analyze the Applications of Smart TV UX. Through analysis of user behavior from the current viewpoint of the TV and Future TV, reflected in the design of Smart TV UX. Ultimately for efficiently operating the contents, screen proposed a prototype for personalized intelligent user based on UX design. Ultimately, to satisfy the playfulness for the course of using the TV as the primary goal and content through the TV content easily to the desired goal to be reached quickly and easily at the point of how to approach the user`s destination, shorten the access path is proposed in this study.
Design and Implementation of Typing Game for the Disabled

This paper deals with the design and implementation of a typing game especially for the disabled people such as children, the elderly, and the handicapped persons on hands. In order to increase the typing capability of such users the game is designed to increase the score whenever they correctly enter the words that appear randomly on the screen. Moreover it is devised to arose the interest by making them follow closer to bugs and insects running ahead when they type correctly many words as possible within a given time limit to eliminate the bugs at the collision; otherwise the distance becomes farther when they enter misspelled words. This functionality can develop the intellectual strength of the users. This typing game helps the disabled increase their typing capability, memorize the character key position, and feel emotionally good with excitement.
Improved Cluster Routing Algorithm Using Remaining Electric Energy Based on CBRP

In the Cluster-Based Routing Protocol (CBRP) a cluster header in each cluster should be elected. The cluster headers consume energy much more than other member nodes do because they manage and operate all of mobile nodes in their cluster. The traditional CBRP elects a cluster header without considering the remaining electric energy of each node. So, there exist problems that the cluster header has short average lifetime, and a new cluster header should be elected again frequently. In this paper, we propose the improved protocol which prolongs the lifetime of the cluster header, decreases the problem of re-electing the cluster header and enhances the stability of the path. In order to achieve this, when a cluster header is elected in a cluster, the remaining electric energies of all the nodes are compared with one another, and the node with the highest energy is elected as the cluster header. Also, the node with the second highest energy is elected as the second header. If the elected cluster header is unable to perform the role of the cluster header any more because the remaining energy level goes low, it sends a beacon message to neighbor member nodes, then the second header will serve as the cluster header.
Design & Construction of Korean Type Smart Work Center on the basis of User-Oriented Smart Work System

This research proposes design and construction of Korean type SWC based on user oriented smart work system. To achieve this proposal, the research suggested improvements of related law, changes to working environment, and strengthening information security for users, stronger Korean ICT based; the study investigated for an efficient and suitable Korean type SWC by analyzing Korean government plans and foreign developed countries` cases. The user-oriented smart work service platform suggested in this study aims to offer a solution to national crisis and establish infrastructure to knowledge-industry and creative-industry by collaborative smart work environment of `Context Awareness` and `Tangible User Interface`. As a result, smart work suggests methods to produce creative work by IT workers and efficient work environment for better standing in world competition. In conclusion, Korean SWC system is proved to be superior in satisfaction rate at 75.41%, 20.18% higher than average score shown in 5 categories in 5 countries from USA, Japan, and EU`s which was 55.23%.
A Study on Rule Schemas of User Interface in HCI Devices

As humans perform many tasks using computers, HCI(Human-Computer Interaction) has received much attention these days. One objective of HCI research is to propose how to design more consistent systems. In order to evaluate the consistency of HCI devices from the user`s perspective, several models such as TAG(Task Action Grammar), GOMS(Goals-Operators-Methods-Selection Rule), and GTN(General Transition Network) have been developed. TAG specifies actions to perform tasks in terms of rule schema. It has been verified that the less the number of rule schema is, the better users perform the tasks due to assumably higher consistency. This paper hypothesizes that the consistency of systems depends not only on the number of rule schema but also on the distances between rule schema. That is, the closer the rule schema are, the easier it is to acquire the whole set of rule schema. An experiment supported this hypothesis. Therefore, distances between rule schema should be considered as well as the number of rule schema when designing systems.
An R-wave Detection method in ECG Signal Using Refractory Period

The accurate detection of R-wave is important for other feature extraction in ECG, and R-wave has a lot of medical information about heart. Numerous R-wave detection algorithms have been studied on the ECG signal shape analysis, but it was difficult to find accurate R-wave when the shape of R-wave is similar to the shape of P-wave. This paper presents an R-wave detection method based on the refractory period that is the period of depolarization and repolarization of the cell membrane after excitation. And we also use the shape of kurtosis in the refractory period. The proposed method is validated using the ECG records of the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. Experimental results show that the proposed method significantly outperforms other method in case of 105 and 108 record that have R-wave similar to P-wave, as well as other records.
Design of Operating room Patients Location System for u-Hospital

RFID is estimated to have great potential for hospitals to reduce various costs, reconsider patients` safety, and provide high quality medical service. As the ubiquitous technology allows the medical market to expand, medical centers all around the country are fiercely competing against one another. In order to increase the hospital`s competitive edge by reducing IT expenses and concentrating on medical practice, the need to establish a u-Hospital using advanced IT technology is rapidly rising. This paper implements an RFID based u-Hospital system by using ubiquitous computing technology to design a location tracking device for all surgical patients, which can secure the patients` safety and increase the quality of medical service through interlocking hospital information systems.
A Study on the Technology Level Survey and Analysis of Problems for improving the Defense IT Survey

In this paper, we propose a study on the technology level survey and analysis of problems for improving the defense IT survey. Existing in 2008 and 2009, were surveyed and the documents were distributed. It`s managed on system. It was surveyed 86 technology but, the selection method and content was simple. we surveyed and interviewed to work-related parties for improving and analyzed management system and documents. So we derived improvements. we selected defense IT from various aspects. and commissioned survey for document review and technology level to about 130 experts. The technology level is composed of the best technology weapon states, technology gap, spread effect, technology achievement time and research & development method.. We finally selected 40 technology, and suggested results of the technology level survey.
A Formal Specification and Checking Technique of Feature model using Z language

The Feature model can not be guaranteed the syntactic accuracy of its model and be difficult the validation using automatic tool for its syntax, because this model is expressed by a graphical and informal structure in itself. Therefore, there is a need to formalize and check for the feature model, to precisely define syntax for construct of the model. This paper presents a Z formal specification and a model checking mechanism of the feature model to guarantee the correctness of the model. It first defines the translation rules between feature model and Z, and then converts the syntax of the feature model into the Z schema specification by applying these rules. Finally, the Z schema specification is checked syntax, type, and domain errors using the Z/Eves validation tool to assure the correctness of its specification, With the use of the proposed method, we may express more precisely the construct of the feature model. Moreover the domain analyst are able to usefully verify the errors of the generated feature model.
A study on the event processing methods for ubiquitous sensor network

The RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) and the WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) have technical similarities and mutual effects, they have been recognized to be studied separately, and sufficient studies have not been conducted on the technical integration of the RFID and the WSN. Therefore, EPC global which realized the issue proposed the EPC(Electronic Produce Code) Sensor Network to efficiently integrate and interoperate the RFID and WSN technologies based on the international standard EPC global network. The proposed EPC Sensor Network technology uses the Complex Event Processing method in the middleware to integrate data occurring through the RFID and the WSN in a single environment and to interoperate the events based on the EPC global network. However, as the EPC Sensor Network technology continuously performs its operation even in the case that the minimum conditions are not to be met to find complex events in the middleware, its operation cost rises. Therefore, to address the problems of the existing system, we defined the minimum conditions of the complex events to detect unnecessary complex events in the middleware, and proposed an algorithm that can extract complex events only when the minimum conditions are to be met. To examine the minimum conditions, a index and a query index are used to extract complex events. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods, In the case of the method of extracting complex events based on a bitmap index, we used the existing extraction method and NS2 simulation to evaluate its performance and thus to show its good performance in terms of the number of operation and the processing time for the complex events.
CFD Explanation and Verification of Multi Inner Stage Cyclone for The Particle Removal

In this paper, Commercial program, STAR-CCM+, was used for computer simulation. And also Multi Inner Stage(MIS) cyclone which especially designed for the real experiments of particle removal efficiency. Under negative pressure condition of outlet, computer simulation was performed to predict the removal efficiency for
particles by using a turbulence model and lagrangian method. The simulation results are 55.7% and 64.1% for
particles, respectively. To compare the simulation results with the actual test of MIS cyclone, we generated the
particles by heat reactor. Although removal efficiency of actual tests is 63~76% at different flow rate, the size of
particles which confirmed by SEM(scanning electron microscope) and WAPS(wide range aerosol particle spectrometer) is too small(15~30nm) to compare each results. And so the alternative experiments were performed by using commercial alumina particles (
). It was shown that the actual removal efficiency, 76~95%, from MIS cyclone is higher than simulated one.

Assessing Classification Accuracy using Cohen`s kappa in Data Mining

In this paper, Cohen`s kappa and weighted kappa are applied to measuring classification accuracy when performing classification in data minig. Cohen`s kappa compensates for classifications that may be due to chance and is used for the data with nominal or ordinal scales. Especially, for the ordinal data, weighted kappa which measures the classification accuracy by quantifying the classification errors as weights is used. We used two weights (linear weight, quadratic weight) for calculations of weighted kappa. Also for the calculation and comparison of kappa and weighted kappa we used a real data set, fat-liver data.
The Effectiveness of the Figure Learning using 3D Graphics Software

The development of hardware, popularization of 3D graphics software could get to easily use 3d graphics tool in the school. And learning difficulties of a shape section increased through more being enforced a shape section of an elementary school. Thus we try to improve learning effectiveness in a shape section using Sketech Up software. To do this, we analyzed existing studies, classified 3D graphics software, provided the selection criteria of vector graphics software. And we explained how to select 3D graphics software. We selected and reorganized the shape contents to use Sketch Up, which make and rotate 3D figures, understand aspects of a shape. And we inserted the content about piling 3D figures in the beginning state of the curriculum. we composed 10 periods and practiced our reorganized curriculum to the teaching and learning using Sketch Up. And we conducted before & after survey to check out t-verified. And we acquired meaningful results statistically. Thus applying Sketch Up to the shape learning can be analyzed effectively.
