Lee, Dongho ; Park, Hansol ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 1~5
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.001
Based on the dual hardware and software with distributed recovery blocks, the centralized type fault tolerant store management system(SMS) was proposed. As a result of trade off study related to mutiplex hardware system design, dual single board computer(SBC) was adapted. To verify redundancy function of the proposed structure, the prototype SMS and weapon simulator were used. The proposed SMS operated normally without being affected by a primary SBC failure. The switching time from primary SBC to shadow SBC was within 200 ms. The reliability of the proposed SMS was predicted and compared with the non fault tolerant SMS, thereby it was proved that the proposed SMS has a higher reliability than the non fault tolerant system within effective range.

Kim, Seong-Hoon ; Fan, Yunhe ; Heo, Gyeongyong ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 15~21
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.015
In this paper, we propose a stable automatic signature verification algorithm applicable to various smart devices. The proposed algorithm uses real and forgery data all together, which can improve the verification rate dramatically. As a tool for signature acquisition in a smart device, two applications, one using touch with a finger and the other using a pressure-sensing-stylus pen, are developed. The verification core is based on SVM and some modifications are made to include the characteristics of signatures. As shown in experimental results, the minimum error rate was 1.84% in the SVM based method, which can easily defeat 4.38% error rate with the previous parametric approach. Even more, 2.43% error rate was achieved with the features excluding pressure-related features, better than the previous approach including pressure-related features and only about 0.6% more error than the best result, which means that the proposed algorithm can be applied to a smart device with or without pressure-sensing-stylus pens and used for security purposes.

Hong, Dong-Jin ; Cha, Eui-Young ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 23~29
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.023
In this paper, we suggest a method of detecting defects by applying Hough transform and least squares on ceramic images obtained from non-destructive testing. In the ceramic images obtained from non-destructive testing, the background area, where the defect does not exist, commonly show gradual change of luminosity in vertical direction. In order to extract the background area which is going to be used in the detection of defects, Hough transform is performed to rotate the ceramic image in a way that the direction of overall luminosity change lies in the vertical direction as much as possible. Least squares are then applied on the rotated image to approximate the contrast value of the background area. The extracted background area is used for extracting defects from the ceramic images. In this paper we applied this method on ceramic images acquired from non-destructive testing. It was confirmed that extracted background area could be effectively applied for searching the section where the defect exists and detecting the defect.

DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.031
In this paper, we propose the ensemble-based classification model which extracts just new data patterns from the streaming-data by using clustering and generates new classification models to be added to the ensemble in order to reduce the number of data labeling while it keeps the accuracy of the existing system. The proposed technique performs clustering of similar patterned data from streaming data. It performs the data labeling to each cluster at the point when a certain amount of data has been gathered. The proposed technique applies the K-NN technique to the classification model unit in order to keep the accuracy of the existing system while it uses a small amount of data. The proposed technique is efficient as using about 3% less data comparing with the existing technique as shown the simulation results for benchmarks, thereby using clustering.

DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.039
In this paper, we analyze the immersion effects according to the level of map in adventure game. Computer games are actively enjoyed by many people around the world. Game players have frequently experienced the immersion which is an important aspect to be attained from games. However, it is not clear what immersion is and what kinds of factors influence to immersion. Nonetheless, in recent many researches, the elements of humanities and fun were found as factors of immersion in various digital contents such as game, virtual reality, cinema and etc. Therefore, today's games are developed on the basis of the humanities and fun theory that many researchers have been studied for a long time. In games, the balance of the level of map is related with immersion. Hence, it is important to know how the map patterns of game affect immersion of players. In this paper, we developed a 3D survival adventure game named by "1 Hour" using Unity3D in order to simulate how map patterns affect immersion of players. We also analyzed the relationship between the level of map and immersion using the game.

Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 53~59
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.053
In this paper we propose a resource management scheme which allocates hierarchical resources stepwise based on the users' QoS requirement of each service in the macro-femtocell overlaid LTE-Advanced network. Our proposed scheme adjusts the transmission rate to the minimum which guarantees the allowable minimum requirement of delay for each user service. In this way it minimizes the interference on the adjacent channels and it is able to increase the resource utilization efficiency. Simulation results show that our scheme provides better performances than the conventional one in respect of the outage probability and data transmission throughput.

Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 61~68
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.061
This paper deals with the pre-marshalling problem that the containers of container yard at container terminal are relocated in consensus sequence of loading schedule of container vessel. This problem is essential to improvement of competitive power of terminal. This problem has to relocate the all of containers in a bay with minimum number of movement. There are various algorithms such as metaheuristic as genetic algorithm and heuristic algorithm in order to find the solution of this problem. Nevertheless, there is no unique general algorithm that is suitable for various many data. And the main drawback of metaheuristic methods are not the solution finding rule but can be find the approximated solution with many random trials and by coincidence. This paper can be obtain the solution with O(m) time complexity that this problem deals with bin packing problem for m stack bins with descending order of take out ranking. For various experimental data, the proposed algorithm can be obtain the optimal solutions for all of data. And to conclude, this algorithm can be show that most simple and general algorithm with simple optimal solution finding rule.

Kim, Dong-Joo ; Lim, Kwon-Mook ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 69~76
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.069
User's selection of music is largely influenced by private tastes as well as emotional states, and it is the unconsciousness projection of user's emotion. Therefore, we think user's emotional states to be music itself. In this paper, we try to grasp user's emotional states from music selected by users at a specific context, and we analyze the correlation between its context and user's emotional state. To get emotional states out of music, the proposed method extracts emotional words as the representative of music from lyrics of user-selected music through morphological analysis, and learns weights of linear classifier for each emotional features of extracted words. Regularities learned by classifier are utilized to calculate predictive weights of virtual music using weights of music chosen by other users in context similar to active user's context. Finally, we propose a method to recommend some pieces of music relative to user's contexts and emotional states. Experimental results shows that the proposed method is more accurate than the traditional collaborative filtering method.

Park, Jung Kyu ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 91~97
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.091
In this paper, we propose a MCFQ I/O scheduler that is implemented by modifying the existing Linux CFQ I/O scheduler. MCFQ observes whether the user requested I/O bandwidth weight is well distributed. Based on the I/O bandwidth observation, we improved I/O performance of the existing bandwidth distribution ability by dynamically controlling the I/O time-slice of the virtual machine. The use of SSDs as storage has been increasing dramatically in recent computer systems due to their fast performance and low power usage. As the usage of SSD increases and prices fall, virtualized system administrators can take advantage of SSDs. However, studies on guaranteeing SLA(Service Level Agreement) services when multiple virtual machines share the SSD is still incomplete. In this paper was conducted to improve performance of the bandwidth distribution when multiple virtual machine are sharing a single SSD storage in a virtualized environment. In particular, it was observed that the performance of the bandwidth distribution varied widely when garbage collection occurs in the SSD. In order to reduce performance variance, we add a MoTS(Manager of Time Slice) on existing CFQ I/O scheduler.

The growth of internet infrastructure and a tremendous increment of internet users lead actively to found internet newspaper publishing companies, which are able to dig up and publish own news articles. In disregard of these quantitative growth of internet newspaper companies, the qualitative growth of them doesn't coincide with the quantitative growth. Therefore, to require social responsibility and to build healthy media environment, Korean government has put in force registration system of internet newspaper company. According to this system, internet newspaper companies have to produce at the inside over 30 percent of weekly publications, and this requisite increases the needs of its verification. This paper investigates technologies to measure the self-supplied news volumes of internet newspaper company, examines validity of them, and presents appropriate method to measure. To compare huge amount of news articles rapidly, the presented method is based on the modified edit-distance, which reflects human cognition of word and empirical information related with it. To prove correctness of our presented method, we show experimental results for some real internet news articles.

There are numerous hazards and toxins have been produced in many forms along with life and working environments. Nevertheless, to remove theses hazards and toxins, there are many counteracting goods manufactured, but the result is limited in specific categories. Also it costs a lot of energy waste. In this paper, we propose a model that reduce wasting energy for detecting and getting rid of the harms. It adds a multi hazards auto-detection model for user friendly include the disable. It will be controlled the minimal sensed level of the harms by individuals through the proposed model. It can conduct detecting and eliminating the harms via eco-sensors pack which is adapted in different environments. As a result, the model works to produce only essential energy to clear the hazard and toxins as soon as the harms are generated and it leads to standby power.

Kang, Gil-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korea Society of Computer and Information, volume 20, issue 10, 2015, Pages 133~140
DOI : 10.9708/jksci.2015.20.10.133
In this paper, I propose some policy and theoretical implications by analyzing moderating effects of volunteering activity in the causal relationships between social welfare major choice and their job choice. For the purpose of the goal of this study, I surveyed 242 university students in 2~4 grades majoring social welfare in Gwangju and South and North Jeolla Province. Analysis results showed that the personal motive on choosing a major affects the occupational aptitude & interests and economic feasibility of career when they choose their jobs. However, the social motive didn't affect the occupational aptitude & interests and economic feasibility of career. It means that they didn't choose their majors considering their aptitude & interests, but chose them by following the advice of the surrounding people. Also, moderating effects of volunteering activity was not significant, which means that volunteering period and schedules are too short and tend to be operated as a mere formality. This study suggests the policy implications so that they have the correct major selection and career options based on the analysis results.
