FIXED POINTS OF COUNTABLY CONDENSING MAPPINGS AND ITS APPLICATION TO NONLINEAR EIGENVALUE PROBLEMS
KIM IN-SOOK ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.001
Abstract
Based on the Schauder fixed point theorem, we give a Leray-Schauder type fixed point theorem for countably condensing mappings in a more general setting and apply it to obtain eigenvalue results on condensing mappings in a simple proof. Moreover, we present a generalization of Sadovskii's fixed point theorem for count ably condensing self-mappings due to S. J. Daher.

Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 11~28
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.011
Abstract
The existence, uniqueness and iterative approximation of solutions for a few classes of functional equations arising in dynamic programming of multistage decision processes are discussed. The results presented in this paper extend, improve and unify the results due to Bellman [2, 3], Bhakta-Choudhury [6], Bhakta-Mitra [7], and Liu [12].

CHO JIN-HWAN ; MASUDA MIKIYA ; SUH DONG YOUP ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 29~43
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.029
Abstract
The article deals with the problem of extending representations of a closed normal subgroup H to a topological group G. We show that the standard technique using group cohomology to solve the problem in the case of finite groups can be generalized in the category of topological groups if G/H is discrete.

ON A VORTICITY MINIMIZATION PROBLEM FOR THE STATIONARY 2D STOKES EQUATIONS
KIM HONGCHUL ; KWON OH-KEUN ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 45~63
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.045
Abstract
This paper is concerned with a boundary control problem for the vorticity minimization, in which the flow is governed by the stationary two dimensional Stokes equations. We wish to find a mathematical formulation and a relevant process for an appropriate control along the part of the boundary to minimize the vorticity due to the flow. After showing the existence and uniqueness of an optimal solution, we derive the optimality conditions. The differentiability of the state solution in regard to the control parameter shall be conjunct with the necessary conditions for the optimal solution. For the minimizer, an algorithm based on the conjugate gradient method shall be proposed.

SONG SEOK-ZUN ; KANG KYUNG-TAE ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 77~86
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.077
Abstract
We consider the set of commuting pairs of matrices and their preservers over binary Boolean algebra, chain semiring and general Boolean algebra. We characterize those linear operators that preserve the set of commuting pairs of matrices over a general Boolean algebra and a chain semiring.

PAN XIAO-PING ; HU XI-YAN ; ZHANG LEI ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 87~98
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.087
Abstract
In this paper, a class of constrained inverse eigenvalue problem for antisymmetric matrices and their optimal approximation problem are considered. Some sufficient and necessary conditions of the solvability for the inverse eigenvalue problem are given. A general representation of the solution is presented for a solvable case. Furthermore, an expression of the solution for the optimal approximation problem is given.

Im, Young-Ho ; Kim, Yong-Kuk ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 99~109
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.099
Abstract
Approximate fibrations form a useful class of maps. By definition fibrators provide instant detection of maps in this class, and PL fibrators do the same in the PL category. We show that every closed s-hopfian t-aspherical manifold N with sparsely Abelian, hopfian fundamental group and X(N)
0 is a codimension-(t + 1) PL fibrator.

p-ADIC q-HIGHER-ORDER HARDY-TYPE SUMS
SIMSEK YILMAZ ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 111~131
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.111
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to define p-adic Hardy sums and p-adic q-higher-order Hardy-type sums. By using these sums and p-adic q-higher-order Dedekind sums, we construct p-adic continuous functions for an odd prime. These functions contain padic q-analogue of higher-order Hardy-type sums. By using an invariant p-adic q-integral on
, we give fundamental properties of these sums. We also establish relations between p-adic Hardy sums, Bernoulli functions, trigonometric functions and Lambert series.

Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 133~145
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.133
Abstract
We study Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian manifolds which admit a closed conformal vector field. Subject to the condition that at each point
the set of conformal gradient vector fields spans a non-degenerate subspace of TpM, using a warped product structure theorem we give a complete description of the space of conformal vector fields on arbitrary non-Ricci flat Einstein spaces.

CENKCI MEHMET ; CAN MUMUN ; KURT VELI ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 183~198
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.183
Abstract
In this paper q-extensions of Genocchi numbers are defined and several properties of these numbers are presented. Properties of q-Genocchi numbers and polynomials are used to construct q-extensions of p-adic measures which yield to obtain p-adic interpolation functions for q-Genocchi numbers. As an application, general systems of congruences, including Kummer-type congruences for q-Genocchi numbers are proved.

THE BERGMAN KERNEL FUNCTION AND THE SZEGO KERNEL FUNCTION
CHUNG YOUNG-BOK ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 199~213
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.199
Abstract
We compute the holomorphic derivative of the harmonic measure associated to a
bounded domain in the plane and show that the exact Bergman kernel function associated to a
bounded domain in the plane relates the derivatives of the Ahlfors map and the Szego kernel in an explicit way. We find several formulas for the exact Bergman kernel and the Szego kernel and the harmonic measure. Finally we survey some other properties of the holomorphic derivative of the harmonic measure. 缀Ѐ㘰〻ሀ䝥湥牡氠瑥捨湯汯杹

Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 43, issue 1, 2006, Pages 215~224
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2006.43.1.215
Abstract
We call the bipartite graph G is normal provided the reduced adjacency matrix A of G is normal. In this paper we give graph representations of normal matrices. In addition we shall have the characterization of signed bipartite normal graphs.
