-MANIFOLDS
Shaikh, Absos Ali ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 449~461
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.449
Abstract
The object of the present paper is to study
-manifolds. Several interesting results on a
-manifold are obtained. Also the generalized Ricci recurrent
-manifolds are studied. The existence of such a manifold is ensured by several non-trivial new examples.

FREDHOLM MAPPINGS AND BANACH MANIFOLDS
Arbizu, Jose Mara Soriano ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 463~473
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.463
Abstract
Two
-mappings, whose domain is a connected compact
-Banach manifold modelled over a Banach space X over
or
and whose range is a Banach space Y over
, are introduced. Sufficient conditions are given to assert they share only a value. The proof of the result, which is based upon continuation methods, is constructive.

THE GROUP OF UNITS OF SOME FINITE LOCAL RINGS II
Woo, Sung-Sik ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 475~491
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.475
Abstract
In [2], we identified the group of units of finite local rings
/(
,
) with certain restrictions on a. In this paper we find direct sum decomposition of the group of units of such rings without restrictions on a into cyclic subgroups by finding their generators. And further generalization is considered.

Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 493~511
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.493
Abstract
Let
be an odd integer and a be an integer coprime to q. Denote by N(a, q) the number of pairs of integers b, c with

ON THE VOLUMES OF CANONICAL CUSPS OF COMPLEX HYPERBOLIC MANIFOLDS
Kim, In-Kang ; Kim, Joon-Hyung ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 513~521
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.513
Abstract
We first introduce a complex hyperbolic space and a complex hyperbolic manifold. After defining the canonical horoball and the canonical cusp on the complex hyperbolic manifold, we estimate the volumes of canonical cusps of complex hyperbolic manifolds. Finally, we deal with cusped, complex hyperbolic 2-manifolds, and in particular, the ones with only one cusp.

FIBRE BUNDLE MAPS AND COMPLETE SPRAYS IN FINSLERIAN SETTING
Crasmareanu, Mircea ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 551~560
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.551
Abstract
A theorem of Robert Blumenthal is used here in order to obtain a sufficient condition for a function between two Finsler manifolds to be a fibre bundle map. Our study is connected with two possible constructions: 1) a Finslerian generalization of usually Kaluza-Klein theories which use Riemannian metrics, the well-known particular case of Finsler metrics, 2) a Finslerian version of reduction process from geometric mechanics. Due to a condition in the Blumenthal's result the completeness of Euler-Lagrange vector fields of Finslerian type is discussed in detail and two situations yielding completeness are given: one concerning the energy and a second related to Finslerian fundamental function. The connection of our last framework, namely a regular Lagrangian having the energy as a proper (in topological sense) function, with the celebrated
Recurrence Theorem is pointed out.

WEAK AND STRONG CONVERGENCE THEOREMS FOR AN ASYMPTOTICALLY k-STRICT PSEUDO-CONTRACTION AND A MIXED EQUILIBRIUM PROBLEM
Yao, Yong-Hong ; Zhou, Haiyun ; Liou, Yeong-Cheng ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 561~576
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.561
Abstract
We introduce two iterative algorithms for finding a common element of the set of fixed points of an asymptotically k-strict pseudo-contraction and the set of solutions of a mixed equilibrium problem in a Hilbert space. We obtain some weak and strong convergence theorems by using the proposed iterative algorithms. Our results extend and improve the corresponding results of Tada and Takahashi [16] and Kim and Xu [8, 9].

-BOUNDEDNESS FOR THE COMMUTATORS OF ROUGH OSCILLATORY SINGULAR INTEGRALS WITH NON-CONVOLUTION PHASES
Wu, Huoxiong ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 577~588
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.577
Abstract
In this paper, the author studies the k-th commutators of oscillatory singular integral operators with a BMO function and phases more general than polynomials. For 1 < p <
, the
-boundedness of such operators are obtained provided their kernels belong to the spaces
. The results of the corresponding maximal operators are also established.

CURVES AND VECTOR BUNDLES ON QUARTIC THREEFOLDS
Arrondo, Enrique ; Madonna, Carlo G. ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 589~607
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.589
Abstract
In this paper we study arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM for short) vector bundles
of rank k
3 on hypersurfaces
of degree r
1. We consider here mainly the case of degree r = 4, which is the first unknown case in literature. Under some natural conditions for the bundle
we derive a list of possible Chern classes (
,
,
) which may arise in the cases of rank k = 3 and k = 4, when r = 4 and we give several examples.

SOME BILINEAR ESTIMATES
Chen, Jiecheng ; Fan, Dashan ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 609~620
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.609
Abstract
We establish some estimates on the hyper bilinear Hilbert transform on both Euclidean space and torus. We also use a transference method to obtain a Kenig-Stein's estimate on bilinear fractional integrals on the n-torus.

COMMUTATIVITY AND HYPONORMALITY OF TOEPLITZ OPERATORS ON THE WEIGHTED BERGMAN SPACE
Lu, Yufeng ; Liu, Chaomei ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 621~642
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.621
Abstract
In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions that two Toeplitz operators with monomial symbols acting on the weighted Bergman space commute. We also present necessary and sufficient conditions for the hyponormality of Toeplitz operators with some special symbols on the weighted Bergman space. All the results are stated in terms of the Mellin transform of the symbol.

DEMI-LINEAR ANALYSIS I-BASIC PRINCIPLES
Li, Ronglu ; Zhong, Shuhui ; Li, Linsong ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 643~656
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.643
Abstract
The family of demi-linear mappings between topological vector spaces is a meaningful extension of the family of linear operators. We establish equicontinuity results for demi-linear mappings and develop the usual theory of distributions and the usual duality theory.

ON THE STABILITY OF A FIXED POINT ALGEBRA C

OF A GAUGE ACTION ON A GRAPH C

Jeong, Ja-A. ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 46, issue 3, 2009, Pages 657~673
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2009.46.3.657
Abstract
The fixed point algebra
of a gauge action
on a graph
-algebra
and its AF subalgebras
associated to each vertex v do play an important role for the study of dynamical properties of
. In this paper, we consider the stability of
(an AF algebra is either stable or equipped with a (nonzero bounded) trace). It is known that
is stably isomorphic to a graph
-algebra
which we observe being stable. We first give an explicit isomorphism from
to a full hereditary
-subalgebra of
and then show that
is stable whenever
is so. Thus
cannot be stable if
admits a trace. It is shown that this is the case if the vertex matrix of E has an eigenvector with an eigenvalue
> 1. The AF algebras
are shown to be nonstable whenever E is irreducible. Several examples are discussed.
