SOME EQUALITIES FOR CONTINUED FRACTIONS OF GENERALIZED ROGERS-RAMANUJAN TYPE
Li, Yongqun ; Wang, Xiantao ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 887~898
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.887
Abstract
In this paper, we first discuss the convergence of the continued fractions of generalized Rogers-Ramanujan type in the modified sense. Then we prove several equalities concerning these continued fractions. The proofs of our main results are mainly based on the Bauer-Muir transformation.

φ-FRAMES AND φ-RIESZ BASES ON LOCALLY COMPACT ABELIAN GROUPS
Gol, Rajab Ali Kamyabi ; Tousi, Reihaneh Raisi ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 899~912
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.899
Abstract
We introduce
-frames in
(G), as a generalization of a-frames defined in [8], where G is a locally compact Abelian group and
is a topological automorphism on G. We give a characterization of
-frames with regard to usual frames in
(G) and show that
-frames share several useful properties with frames. We define the associated
-analysis and
-preframe operators, with which we obtain criteria for a sequence to be a
-frame or a
-Bessel sequence. We also define
-Riesz bases in
(G) and establish equivalent conditions for a sequence in
(G) to be a
-Riesz basis.

FOR POSITIVE INTEGERS N
Moreno, Samuel G. ; Garcia-Caballe, Esther M. ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 913~926
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.913
Abstract
The family of q-Laguerre polynomials
is usually defined for 0 < q < 1 and
> -1. We extend this family to a new one in which arbitrary complex values of the parameter
are allowed. These so-called generalized q-Laguerre polynomials fulfil the same three term recurrence relation as the original ones, but when the parameter
is a negative integer, no orthogonality property can be deduced from Favard's theorem. In this work we introduce non-standard inner products involving q-derivatives with respect to which the generalized q-Laguerre polynomials
, for positive integers N, become orthogonal.

GRADED PRIMAL SUBMODULES OF GRADED MODULES
Darani, Ahmad Yousefian ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 927~938
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.927
Abstract
Let G be an abelian monoid with identity e. Let R be a G-graded commutative ring, and M a graded R-module. In this paper we first introduce the concept of graded primal submodules of M an give some basic results concerning this class of submodules. Then we characterize the graded primal ideals of the idealization R(+)M.

IMPROVING THE SOLVABILITY OF ILL-CONDITIONED SYSTEMS OF LINEAR EQUATIONS BY REDUCING THE CONDITION NUMBER OF THEIR MATRICES
Farooq, Muhammad ; Salhi, Abdellah ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 939~952
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.939
Abstract
This paper is concerned with the solution of ill-conditioned Systems of Linear Equations (SLE's) via the solution of equivalent SLE's which are well-conditioned. A matrix is rst constructed from that of the given ill-conditioned system. Then, an adequate right-hand side is computed to make up the instance of an equivalent system. Formulae and algorithms for computing an instance of this equivalent SLE and solving it will be given and illustrated.

SPHERICAL HALL ALGEBRAS OF CURVES AND HARDER-NARASIMHAN STRATAS
Schiffmann, Olivier ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 953~967
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.953
Abstract
We show that the characteristic function
of any Harder-Narasimhan strata
belongs to the spherical Hall algebra
of a smooth projective curve X (defined over a finite field
). We prove a similar result in the geometric setting: the intersection cohomology complex IC(
) of any Harder-Narasimhan strata
belongs to the category
of spherical Eisenstein sheaves of X. We show by a simple example how a complete description of all spherical Eisenstein sheaves would necessarily involve the Brill-Noether stratas of

Chen, Ren-Yu ; Zhou, Ze-Hua ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 969~984
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.969
Abstract
This paper discusses the hypercyclicity of weighted composition operators acting on the space of holomorphic functions on the open unit ball
of
. Several analytic properties of linear fractional self-maps of
are given. According to these properties, a few necessary conditions for a weighted composition operator to be hypercyclic in the space of holomorphic functions are proved. Besides, the hypercyclicity of adjoint of weighted composition operators are studied in this paper.

A FILLED FUNCTION METHOD FOR BOX CONSTRAINED NONLINEAR INTEGER PROGRAMMING
Lin, Youjiang ; Yang, Yongjian ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 985~999
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.985
Abstract
A new filled function method is presented in this paper to solve box-constrained nonlinear integer programming problems. It is shown that for a given non-global local minimizer, a better local minimizer can be obtained by local search starting from an improved initial point which is obtained by locally solving a box-constrained integer programming problem. Several illustrative numerical examples are reported to show the efficiency of the present method.

Lee, Wan-Seok ; Park, Eui-Sung ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 1001~1015
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.1001
Abstract
In this article we study the problem to determine all occurring Betti diagrams of varieties
of almost minimal degree, i.e. deg(X) = codim(X;
)+2. We describe a realistic picture of how many different kind of Betti diagrams exist at all (Theorem 3.1). By means of the computer algebra system "SINGULAR", we obtain a complete list of all occurring Betti diagrams in the cases where codim

REPRESENTING SEQUENCES ON PARABOLIC BERGMAN SPACES
Hishikawa, Yosuke ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 1017~1041
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.1017
Abstract
The parabolic Bergman space is the set of
-solution of the parabolic operator
. In this paper, we study representin sequences on parabolic Bergman spaces. We establish a discrete version of the reproducing formula on parabolic Bergman spaces by using fractional derivatives of the fundamental solution of the parabolic operator.

Abstract
We introduce a new norm, called the

ABSOLUTE IRREDUCIBILITY OF BIVARIATE POLYNOMIALS VIA POLYTOPE METHOD
Koyuncu, Fatih ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 1065~1081
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.1065
Abstract
For any field F, a polynomial f
F[
] can be associated with a polytope, called its Newton polytope. If the polynomial f has integrally indecomposable Newton polytope, in the sense of Minkowski sum, then it is absolutely irreducible over F, i.e., irreducible over every algebraic extension of F. We present some results giving new integrally indecomposable classes of polygons. Consequently, we have some criteria giving many types of absolutely irreducible bivariate polynomials over arbitrary fields.

SPACELIKE MAXIMAL SURFACES, TIMELIKE MINIMAL SURFACES, AND BJÖRLING REPRESENTATION FORMULAE
Kim, Young-Wook ; Koh, Sung-Eun ; Shin, Hea-Yong ; Yang, Seong-Deog ;
Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 48, issue 5, 2011, Pages 1083~1100
DOI : 10.4134/JKMS.2011.48.5.1083
Abstract
We show that some class of spacelike maximal surfaces and timelike minimal surfaces match smoothly across the singular curve of the surfaces. Singular Bj
rling representation formulae for generalized spacelike maximal surfaces and for generalized timelike minimal surfaces play important roles in the explanation of this phenomenon.
