DETERMINANT OF INCIDENCE MATRIX OF NIL-ALGEBRA
Lee, Woo ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 577~581
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.577
Abstract
The incidence matrices corresponding to a nil-algebra of finite index % can be used to determine the nilpotency. We find the smallest positive integer n such that the sum of the incidence matrices Σ
p/
p/ is invertible. In this paper, we give a different proof of the case that the nil-algebra of index 2 has nilpotency less than or equal to 4.

LOCAL EXISTENCE AND GLOBAL UNIQUENESS IN ONE DIMENSIONAL NONLINEAR HYPERBOLIC INVERSE PROBLEMS
Choi, Jong-Sung ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 593~606
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.593
Abstract
We prove local existence and global uniqueness in one dimensional nonlinear hyperbolic inverse problems. The basic key for showing the local existence of inverse solution is the principle of contracted mapping. As an application, we consider a hyperbolic inverse problem with damping term.

Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 607~618
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.607
Abstract
Let A be a noncommutative Banach algebra. Suppose there exists a continuous linear Jordan derivation D : A \longrightarrowA such that D(
)[D(
),
]D(
)
rad(A) for all
A. In this case, we have D(A) ⊆ rad(A).

Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 619~623
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.619
Abstract
In this paper, we study transnormal systems on the Euclidean and semi-Euclidean spaces. We classified transnormal systems on Rf" . We also prove that transnormal systems on R
n/
p/ are algebraic even though there are non-algebraic isoparametric hypersurfaces.

RICCI CURVATURE OF SUBMANIFOLDS IN A QUATERNION PROJECTIVE SPACE
Liu, Ximin ; Dai, Wanji ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 625~633
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.625
Abstract
Recently, Chen establishes sharp relationship between the k-Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature for a submanifold in a Riemannian space form with arbitrary codimension. In this paper, we establish sharp relationships between the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature for submanifolds in quaternion projective spaces.

ON AUTOMORPHISM GROUPS OF AN є-FRAMED MANIFOLD
Kim, J.S. ; Cho, J.H. ; Tripathi, M.M. ; Prasad, R. ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 635~645
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.635
Abstract
Two examples of
-famed manifolds are constructed. It is proved that an
-framed structure on a manifold is not unique. Automorphism groups of r-framed manifolds are studied. Lastly we prove that a connected Lie group G admits a left invariant normal
-framed structure if and only if the Lie algebra of all left invariant vector fields on G is an
-framed Lie algebra.

Im, Jang-Hwan ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 647~673
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.647
Abstract
There are many models to study topological
-planes. Unlike topological
-planes, it is difficult to find models to study topological R
)-spaces. If an 4-dimensional affine plane intersects with R
, we are able to get a geometrical structure on R
which is similar to R
-space, and called
-divisible R
-space. Such spatial geometric models is useful to study topological R
-spaces. Hence, we introduce some classes of topological
-divisible R
-spaces which are induced from 4-dimensional anne planes.

SOME REMARKS ON QUASI AND WEAKLY QUASI CONTINUOUS FUNCTIONS
Kim, Seung-Wook ; Song, Hyun-Jung ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 675~680
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.675
Abstract
Since N. Levin [1] in 1961 defined the weakly continuous function, there is a lot of weakened forms of continuous function. In this paper we consider two forms of the weakened form of continuous function and study the some properties of them.

CATEGORICAL PROPERTIES OF SEMI-CONTINUOUS QUASI-ORDERED SPACES
Shin, Seon-Ho ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 681~691
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.681
Abstract
We study categorical properties of the category SWQOS (S
U/WQOS, S
L/WQOS, resp) of (upper, lower, resp.) semi-continuous quasi-ordered spaces and the subcategory SWPOS (S
U/WPOS, S
L/WPOS, resp.) of (upper, lower, resp.) semicontinuous partially ordered spaces. We show that the categories S
U/WPOS, S
L/WPOS and SWPOS are closed under the formation of initial mono-sources in the category TQOS of topological quasi-ordered spaces, and they we mono-topological, complete and cocomplete epireflective subcategories of the category TQOS. We obtain their MacNeille and universal initial completions, as well as those of subcatego.ies S
U/WQOS(S
L/WQOS) and SWQOS, in which the topologies are T
0/ and T
, respectively.

DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.693

Abstract
Observing that each Tychonoff space X has the minimal basically disconnected cover (ΛX, Λ

ON THE RANDOM n×n ASSIGNMENT PROBLEM
Lee, Sung-Chul ; Zhonggen, Su ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 719~729
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.719
Abstract
Consider the random n
m assignment problem with m
Let
be iid uniform random variables on [0, 1] and exponential random variables with mean 1, respectively, and let
and
denote the optimal assignment costs corresponding to
and
. In this paper we first give a comparison result about the discrepancy E
-E
. Using this comparison result with a known lower bound for Var(
) we obtains a lower bound for Var(
). Finally, we study the way that E
and E
vary as m does. It turns out that only when m - n is large enough, the cost decreases significantly.tly.

Shin, Chang-Eon ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 731~740
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.731
Abstract
We derive the generalized Hermite interpolation by using the contour integral and extend the generalized Hermite interpolation to obtain the sampling expansion involving derivatives for band-limited functions f, that is, f is an entire function satisfying the following growth condition ｜f(ｚ)｜
A exp(
｜y｜) for some A,
> 0 and any ｚ=

AN ERROR BOUND ANALYSIS FOR CUBIC SPLINE APPROXIMATION OF CONIC SECTION
Ahn, Young-Joon ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 17, issue 4, 2002, Pages 741~754
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2002.17.4.741
Abstract
In this paper we present an error bound for cubic spline approximation of conic section curve. We compare it to the error bound proposed by Floater [1]. The error estimating function proposed in this paper is sharper than Floater's at the mid-point of parameter, which means the overall error bound is sharper than Floater's if the estimating function has the maximum at the midpoint.
