Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 459~468
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.459
Abstract
In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of the generalized set-valued mixed variational inequalities. Using the resolvent operator technique, we construct a new iterative algorithm for solving this class of the generalized set-valued mixed variational inequalities. We prove the existence of solutions for the generalized set-valued mixed variational inequalities and the convergence of the iterative sequences generated by the algorithm.

Abstract
Given vectors x and y in a Hilbert space, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator T such that Tx = y. An interpolating operator for n vectors satisfies the equation
, for i, = 1,2,…,n. In this article, we investigate compact interpolation problems in tridiagonal algebra : Given vectors x and y in a Hilbert space, when is there a compact operator A in a tridiagonal algebra such that Ax = y \ulcorner

PROJECTIVELY FLAT FINSLER SPACE WITH AN APPROXIMATE MATSUMOTO METRIC
Park, Hong-Suh ; Lee, Il-Yong ; Park, Ha-Yong ; Kim, Byung-Doo ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 501~513
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.501
Abstract
The Matsumoto metric is an (
)-metric which is an exact formulation of the model of Finsler space. Lately, this metric was expressed as an infinite series form for $
\beat
\;<\;
\alpha
$ by the first author. He introduced an approximate Matsumoto metric as the (
)-metric of finite series form and investigated it in [11]. The purpose of the present paper is devoted to finding the condition for a Finsler space with an approximate Matsumoto metric to be projectively flat.

HARMONIC KAHLER FORMS ON HYPERKAHLER MANIFOLDS
Park, Kwang-Soon ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 515~519
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.515
Abstract
Let M be a hyperkahler manifold with the hyperkahler structure (g, I, J, K). In [5], D. Huybrechts suggests that it is an open and interesting question whether any Kahler class that stays Kahler in the twister family can actually be represented by an harmonic Kahler form. In this paper we will consider both this problem and the set of all the primitive harmonic Kahler forms on M.

Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 521~532
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.521
Abstract
In this paper, we introduce the notions of (
)-fuzzy (r, s)-preopen sets and fuzzy pairwise (r, s)-precontinuous mappings in smooth bitopological spaces and then we investigate some of their characteristic properties.

SEMI-CONVERGENCE OF p-STACKS
Min, Won-Keun ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 533~540
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.533
Abstract
We introduce the notion of semi-convergence of p-stacks and by using that notion we characterize the semi-interior, semiclosure, separation axioms and semi-continuity on a topological space. Also we introduce a new notion of p-somicompactness and investigate its properties in terms of semi-convergence of p-stacks.

A STUDY ON GARCH(p, q) PROCESS
Lee, Oe-Sook ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 541~550
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.541
Abstract
We consider the generalized autoregressive model with conditional heteroscedasticity process(GARCH). It is proved that if (equation omitted) β/sub i/ < 1, then there exists a unique invariant initial distribution for the Markov process emdedding the given GARCH process. Geometric ergodicity, functional central limit theorems, and a law of large numbers are also studied.

Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 551~558
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.551
Abstract
In this paper we Obtain the Hajeck-Renyi type inequality for the asymptotically almost negatively associated(AANA) random variables and extend some results for negatively associated random variables to the AANA case by applying this inequality.

TWO-SCALE CONVERGENCE FOR PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH RANDOM COEFFICIENTS
Pak, Hee-Chul ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 559~568
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.559
Abstract
We introduce the notion of two-scale convergence for partial differential equations with random coefficients that gives a very efficient way of finding homogenized differential equations with random coefficients. For an application, we find the homogenized matrices for linear second order elliptic equations with random coefficients. We suggest a natural way of finding the two-scale limit of second order equations by considering the flux term.

AGE-TIME DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN METHOD FOR THE LOTKA-MCKENDRICK EQUATION
Kim, Mi-Young ; Selenge, T.S. ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 18, issue 3, 2003, Pages 569~580
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2003.18.3.569
Abstract
The Lotka-McKendrick equation which describes the evolution of a single population under the phenomenological conditions is developed from the well-known Malthus’model. In this paper, we introduce the Lotka-McKendrick equation for the description of the dynamics of a population. We apply a discontinuous Galerkin finite element method in age-time domain to approximate the solution of the system. We provide some numerical results. It is experimentally shown that, when the mortality function is bounded, the scheme converges at the rate of
in the case of piecewise linear polynomial space. It is also shown that the scheme converges at the rate of
when the mortality function is unbounded.
