SOME REMARKS ON THE PRIMARY IDEALS OF ℤ

Woo, Sung-Sik ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 641~652
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.641
Abstract
In [2], they found some natural generators for the ideals of the finite ring
[X]/
, where p and n are relatively prime. If p and n are not relatively prime
is not a product of basic irreducible polynomials but a product of primary polynomials. Due to this fact, to consider the ideals of
[X]/
in 'inseparable' case we need to look at the primary ideals of
[X]. In this paper, we find a set of generators of ideals of
[X]/(f) for some primary polynomials f of

A VARIANT OF THE GENERALIZED VECTOR VARIATIONAL INEQUALITY WITH OPERATOR SOLUTIONS
Kum, Sang-Ho ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 665~673
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.665
Abstract
In a recent paper, Domokos and
[2] gave an interesting interpretation of variational inequalities (VI) and vector variational inequalities (VVI) in Banach space settings in terms of variational inequalities with operator solutions (in short, OVVI). Inspired by their work, in a former paper [4], we proposed the scheme of generalized vector variational inequality with operator solutions (in short, GOVVI) which extends (OVVI) into a multivalued case. In this note, we further develop the previous work [4]. A more general pseudomonotone operator is treated. We present a result on the existence of solutions of (GVVI) under the weak pseudomonotonicity introduced in Yu and Yao [8] within the framework of (GOVVI) by exploiting some techniques on (GOVVI) or (GVVI) in [4].

CERTAIN REPRESENTATION OF A REAL POLYNOMIAL
Ahn, Young-Joon ; Kim, Seon-Hong ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 675~678
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.675
Abstract
We show that every real polynomial of degree n can be represented by the sum of two real polynomials of degree n, each having only real zeros. As an example of this, we consider a real polynomial with even degree whose all zeros lie on the imaginary axes except the origin.

A COMMON FIXED POINT THEOREM FOR A SEQUENCE OF SELF MAPS IN INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY METRIC SPACES
Kutukcu, Servet ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 679~687
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.679
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to obtain a new common fixed point theorem by using a new contractive condition in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces. Our result generalizes and extends many known results in fuzzy metric spaces and metric spaces.

POSITIVE COEXISTENCE FOR A SIMPLE FOOD CHAIN MODEL WITH RATIO-DEPENDENT FUNCTIONAL RESPONSE AND CROSS-DIFFUSION
Ko, Won-Lyul ; Ahn, In-Kyung ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 701~717
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.701
Abstract
The positive coexistence of a simple food chain model with ratio-dependent functional response and cross-diffusion is discussed. Especially, when a cross-diffusion is small enough, the existence of positive solutions of the system concerned can be expected. The extinction conditions for all three interacting species and for one or two of three species are studied. Moreover, when a cross-diffusion is sufficiently large, the extinction of prey species with cross-diffusion interaction to predator occurs. The method employed is the comparison argument for elliptic problem and fixed point theory in a positive cone on a Banach space.

RIBAUCOUR TRANSFORMATIONS ON RIEMANNIAN SPACE FORMS IN LORENTZIAN SPACE FORM
Park, Joon-Sang ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 729~737
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.729
Abstract
We study Ribaucour transformations on nondegenerate local isometric immersions of Riemannian space forms into Lorentzian space forms with flat normal bundles. They can be explained by dressing actions on the solution space of Lorentzian Grassmannian systems.

p-STACKS ON SUPRATOPOLOGICAL SPACES
Min, Won-Keun ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 749~758
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.749
Abstract
In [1], we introduced the notion of p-stacks. In this paper, by using p-stacks we characterize
functions, separation axioms, supracompactness and some properties on supratopological spaces. We also introduce the notion of p-supracompactness and study some properties.

A CHARACTERIZATION OF HYPERBOLIC TORAL AUTOMORPHISMS
Lee, Joo-Sung ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 759~769
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.759
Abstract
Let L :
be a hyperbolic automorphism. Then the hyperbolic toral automorphism
, induced by L, is a chaotic map ([2] pg.192). We characterize hyperbolic toral automorphisms by proving the converse of the above statement.

STRONG LAWS FOR WEIGHTED SUMS OF I.I.D. RANDOM VARIABLES
Cai, Guang-Hui ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 771~778
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.771
Abstract
Strong laws are established for linear statistics that are weighted sums of a random sample. We show extensions of the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong laws under certain moment conditions on both the weights and the distribution. The result obtained extends and sharpens the result of Sung ([12]).

SUBORDINATION, SELF-DECOMPOSABILITY AND SEMI-STABILITY
Choi, Gyeong-Suk ; Joo, Sang-Yeol ; Kim, Yun-Kyong ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 21, issue 4, 2006, Pages 787~794
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2006.21.4.787
Abstract
Two main results are presented in relation to subordination, self-decomposability and semi-stability. One of the result is that strict semi-stability of subordinand process by selfdecomposable subordinator gives semi-selfdecomposability of the subordinated process. The second result is a sufficient condition for any subordinated process arising from a semi-stable subordinand and a semi-stable subordinator to be semi-selfdecomposable.
