ON POTENT RINGS
Li, Bingjun ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 161~167
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.161
Abstract
A ring R is called an
-ring if each left ideal not contained in the Jacobson radical J(R) contains a non-zero idempotent. If, in addition, idempotents can be lifted modulo J(R), R is called an I-ring or a potent ring. We study whether these properties are inherited by some related rings. Also, we investigate the structure of potent rings.

TOPOLOGICAL PROPERTIES IN BCC-ALGEBRAS
Ahn, Sun-Shin ; Kwon, Seok-Hwan ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 169~178
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.169
Abstract
In this paper, we show how to associate certain topologies with special ideals of BCC-algebras on these BCC-algebras. We show that it is natural for BCC-algebras to be topological BCC-algebras with respect to theses topologies. Furthermore, we show how certain standard properties may arise. In addition we demonstrate that it is natural for these topologies to have many clopen sets and thus to be highly connected via the ideal theory of BCC-algebras.

Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 187~189
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.187
Abstract
We aim at presenting an interesting result for a reducibility of Exton's triple hypergeometric series
. The identity to be given here is obtained by combining Exton's Laplace integral representation for
and Henrici's formula for the product of three hypergeometric series.

]-ESTIMATES ON THE PREY-PREDATOR SYSTEMS WITH CROSS-DIFFUSIONS AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSES
Shim, Seong-A ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 211~227
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.211
Abstract
As a mathematical model proposed to understand the behaviors of interacting species, cross-diffusion systems with functional responses of prey-predator type are considered. In order to obtain
-estimates of the solutions, we make use of several forms of calculus inequalities and embedding theorems. We consider the quasilinear parabolic systems with the cross-diffusion terms, and without the self-diffusion terms because of the simplicity of computations. As the main result we derive the uniform
-bound of the solutions and obtain the global existence in time.

g-UNIFIED FIELD TENSORS
Lee, Jong-Woo ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 229~239
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.229
Abstract
In n-dimensional unified field theory(n-UFT), the reciprocal representations between the g-unified field tensor
and
-unified field tensor
play essential role in the study of n-UFT. The purpose of the present paper is to obtain some reciprocal relations between g-unified field tensor and
-unified field tensor.

Jo, Kyeong-Hee ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 241~250
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.241
Abstract
In this article, we find a counter example which shows that the well-known necessary condition about the boundary regularity of a stable strictly convex body is not a sufficient condition.

SEMI-PRECONVEX SETS ON PRECONVEXITY SPACES
Min, Won-Keun ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 251~256
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.251
Abstract
In this paper, we introduce the concept of the semi-preconvex set on preconvexity spaces. We study some properties for the semi-preconvex set. Also we introduce the concepts of the sc-convex function and
-convex function. Finally, we characterize sc-convex functions,
-convex functions and semi-preconvex sets by using the co-convexity hull and the convexity hull.

EFFICIENT MONTE CARLO ALGORITHM FOR PRICING BARRIER OPTIONS
Moon, Kyoung-Sook ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 285~294
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.285
Abstract
A new Monte Carlo method is presented to compute the prices of barrier options on stocks. The key idea of the new method is to use an exit probability and uniformly distributed random numbers in order to efficiently estimate the first hitting time of barriers. It is numerically shown that the first hitting time error of the new Monte Carlo method decreases much faster than that of standard Monte Carlo methods.

COMPOSITE-EXPONENTIAL-FITTING INTERPOLATION RULES
Kim, Kyung-Joong ;
Communications of the Korean Mathematical Society, volume 23, issue 2, 2008, Pages 295~305
DOI : 10.4134/CKMS.2008.23.2.295
Abstract
This paper demonstrates how composite-exponential-fitting interpolation rules can be constructed to fit an oscillatory function using not only pointwise values of that function but also of that functions's derivative on a closed and bounded interval of interest. This is done in the framework of exponential-fitting techniques. These rules extend the classical composite cubic Hermite interpolating polynomials in the sense that they become the classical composite polynomials as a parameter tends to zero. Some examples are provided to compare the newly constructed rules with the classical composite cubic Hermite interpolating polynomials (or recently developed interpolation rules).
