The Effect of Home Exercise Program on Pelvic Alignment and Lumbar Scoliosis of Chronic Low Back Pain

Purpose：To investigate the effect of the home exercise program on pain, scoliosis, pelvic alignment of low back in chronic back pain patients, and suggest optimal method for home exercise program. Methods：I divided into two groups who has chronic back pain; one is control group who was given a treatment at the hospital only and the other is experimental group who did another exercise after treatment at the hospital, and there were 10 people in each group. The manual therapy were given to all the patients in each group after applying a stupe and an electric treatment, but the experimental group conducted another exercise program at homes. All the exercise programs were applied to patients 12 times for 4 weeks totally. Results：SPSS for win version 12 was used for statistic analysis and independent t-test was used to find changes between two groups. VAS scale was used to show changes in pain between each group. The grade of pain was decreased between pre&post test to -5.60 in control group and -4.80 in experimental group but there wasn't significant difference between each group. Cobb's degree was used to compare the changes of scoliosis in lumbar and it was improved in each group but there wasn't significant difference between each group. The measurement of pelvic misalignment was decreased between pre&post test to -1.00 in control group and -2.00 in experimental group but it wasn't enough to show significant difference between each group. Conclusion：As you read the results above, for a chronic low back pain patient, application of the manual therapy showed that it has effect on decrease of low back pain, improvement of scoliosis in lumbar and pelvic misalignment. However, the effect of home exercise treatment was not sure about improvements for chronic low back pain patient. So I think there should need further study about the effect of home exercise treatment except the treatments at hospital and the thorough education for the exercise of lumbar should be done before the study for the accurate experiment.
The Analysis of Old Person's Total Antioxidant Capacity and Free Oxygen Radical According to Exercise Frequency of Combination Exercise

Purpose：The purpose of this study was analyze the effect combination exercise program on plasma total antioxidant capacity and free oxygen radical according to exercise frequency of elderly. Age range of subject is 65~70 years. Methods：Subjects divided into three groups: control group(0-time), week-3 times group(3-times), week-5 times group(5-times). Each group were performed combination exercise during 8 weeks. Results：The results of each group by ANOVA free oxygen radical have a change(p<.05). We performed comparison of total antioxidant capacity and free oxygen radical pre-test and post-test on each groups. Total antioxidant capacity was increased in the 3-times and 5-times groups but there have not significant. Total antioxidant capacity is improve better than to 5-times. Free oxygen radical is significant increased in the 0-time (p<.05). But 5-times but 3-times is no significant decrease. Free oxygen radical is improve better than to 3-times. Conclusion：In the old people, exercise frequency week 3 times doing appeared effectively in improvement of the free oxygen radical and 5 times doing appeared effectively in improvement of the total antioxidant capacity. So rightly must apply a exercise frequency well in characteristic of old person each person.
Application of a Heat Pack and Soft Tissue Mobilization on Hamstring Muscle of Flexibility in Subjects with Cerebral Palsy

Purpose：The hamstring muscle has an important role in standing, walking and other functions related to daily living. Most people with Cerebral Palsy(CP) have muscle tightness, especially in the hamstring, which may cause abnormal alignment in the lower extremities. To investigate an effective treatment for hamstring muscle tightness by observing the effects of heat pack or Soft tissue mobilization(STM) on hamstring muscles. Methods：Thirteen-two volunteers with CP aged between 9 and 13 years(
), were recruited and divided into four groups of four: (1) the STM for people with Spastic CP group, (2) the heat pack(HP) for people with Spastic CP group, (3) the STM for people with Mixd CP group, and (4) the heat pack for people with Mixed CP group. All received treatment three times per week for six weeks. A inclinometer was used to measure for hip flexion & knee extension joint range motion(ROM). Results：The ROM of hip flexion & knee extension were improved at the STM and HP for people with Spastic CP groups. The ROM and hip flexion were improved at the STM and HP for people with Mixed CP groups. The amount of increase ROM are differenced by the types of CP. Conculusion：STM and heat pack, both are effective for people with CP especially for Spastic CP.
The Effects of Angular Velocity on Muscle strength of Biceps brachii

Purpose：The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of angular velocity on muscle strength of biceps brachii. Methods：Subjects was classified into two groups, which were
angular velocity group(n=15) and
angular velocity group(n=15). Each group was applied to perform the isokinetic exercises on flexion muscle group for each 10 times in 3 set(3 days per a week for 2 weeks). Muscle strength was measured using peak torque of biceps brachii. Results：The results were as follows: The peak torque was significantly increased after
angular velocity isokinetic exercise application(p<.05), however, it was not significantly after
angular velocity isokinetic exercise application(p>.05). Conclusions：This study showed that
angular velocity isokinetic exercise application were effective treatment strategy on increase of muscle strength. Therefore, it could be considered as a treatment method in the athlete and patients with musculoskeletal disease.
The Effects of Plantar Foot Pressure and Muscular Activity on Treadmill Gait Training in Stroke Patients

Purpose：This study was performed for effects of gait training on treadmill and stable surface which influenced on the lower limbs muscular activity needed in gait, plantar foot pressure with hemiplegic patients caused by cerebrovascular accident. Methods：Two groups of adult hemiplegia(n=20) were allocated randomly in this study: treadmill gait training group and control group. The gait training program was provided to experimental groups for 8 weeks (5 times a week). Measurements of pre and post experiment were plantar foot pressure. For measuring muscular activation rectus femoris, biceps femoris, tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius were detected. Results：The results of this study showed that in comparison of pre and post changes of gait training, the treadmill gait training group has noticeable changes than other groups in activity of rectus femoris and tibialis anterior, the control group revealed statistically significant differences in plantar foot pressure Toe2-5, M1, M3, M5, MF area, activity of gastrocnemius. Conclusion：These results mean gait training resulted by treadmill, stable surface provides effective muscle activation and plantar foot pressure with stroke.
The Effects of Taekwondo Traing Causing Leg-muscular Strength for Elementary School Children

Purpose：The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Taekwondo training causing leg-muscular strength for elementary school children. Methods：The subjects were Taekwondo group (n=20) and non-Taekwondo group (n=20) from 5-6 graders of elementary school. The Tkd group exercised Taekwondo and the non-Taekwondo group exercised free gymnastics. The subjects were measured 3 times(pre, mid and after)during the 8weeks program. The leg muscular strength peak torque and average power were measured. And the extension-flection of angular speed 60 deg/sec and 180 deg/sec was measured. Results：The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. Compared with the Tkd group, the non-Tkd group showed no significant difference in tests statistically in case of right-left of pre-4weeks. The leg muscle's peak torque did not show significant difference in the extension angular 60 deg/sec(p>.05). 2. The score of flection angular speed 60deg/sec was not different in tests leg strength of right-left to pre-4weeks(p<.05), but the muscle was increased according to the amount of time spent in case of the 4-8weeks. 3. Compared with the Tkd group, the non-Tkd group showed no significant difference in tests statistically in case of right-left of pre-4weeks. The leg muscle's peak torque did not show significant difference in the extension angular 180deg/sec(p>.05). The right leg muscular strength was increased in case of the 4-8weeks. The left leg showed no difference. 4. Leg muscular strength was increased in the case of the pre-4weeks in the right of flection angular speed 180deg/sec. The left did not show difference. The right leg muscle in case of the 4-8weeks showed no difference. The left showed significant difference. Conclusion：Taekwondo training is effective for leg-muscular strengthing for elementary school children.
The Effect of Modified CIMT Combined with Kinesio-Taping on Upper Limb Function in Hemiplegic Patients

Purpose：This study was conducted to investigate whether modified CIMT with Kinesio-Taping on paretic upper limb effects upper limb function in stroke patients in comparison to those receiving only modified CIMT. Methods：20 out-patients with hemiplegia were randomly assigned to either an experimental or a control group. Both groups received modified CIMT during a 10-week period. Additionally, an experimental group received modified CIMT with Kinesio-Taping on paretic upper limb and trunk. Results：In Manual function test, Grip strength, Jebsen-Taylor hand function test, MAL(Motor Activity Log) and Functional independence measure (FIM) were significantly different at all intervals of the study period(0, 3, 6, 10-week) in the experimental and control groups(p<.05). Exceptionally there was no significant difference in Jebsen-Taylor hand function test between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion：These results suggest that modified CIMT with Kinesio-taping improve the upper limb function. And also increase usage of affected upper limb and assist in daily living activity more than only modified CIMT.
The Effects of Postural Control based on Bobath Approach for Body Schema and Visual Perception of Middle Cerebral Artery Infarcts : Case Report

Purpose：In this study is to verify the effects postural control training based on Bobath approach for body schema and visual perception on Middle Cerebral Artery(MCA) Infarcts. Methods：The subject was a 46 years old man with MCA infaction, lives in B city. An AB design for a single-subject research was used for this study. The procedures consisted of 1 time of baseline phase(A), 20 times of treatment phase(B). We applied the Bobath approach at the subject. Treatments included to facilitate trunk alignment and stability, and to train weight bearing and shifting, to facilitate pelvis movement, and to train walk especially stance phase and assist up-down stairs locomotion in environment similar to actual daily life. Results：With this treatment, the majority of body schema and visual perception and postural control was improved in treatment phase compared with in baseline phase. Therefore, this study supported the effectiveness of postural control training based on Bobath approach for body sechma and visual perception of hemiplegia. Conculusion：This study is integrated postural control training with Bobath approach that are widespread for hemiplegia and measured outcomes based on individualized therapy goals. Consequently the study is suggested the meaning of quality effectiveness of Bobath approach.

-Wave Music and Art Appreciation on Hand Function in Patient with Stroke

Purpose：The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of
-wave music and art appreciation on hand function in stroke with hemiplegia. Methods：A total of 32 stroke with hemiplegia participated in this study experimental group(16 subjects) received
-wave music and art appreciation with general neurologic therapy. Control group(16 subjects) received general neurologic therapy. All subjects were assessed for hand function(manual dexterity, power grip, pinch grip, two point discrimination(parm, finger), tactile sense(parm, finger) using a purdue pegboard, dynamometer, pinch gauge, two-point anethesiometer and semmes-weinstein monofilament wire. The data were analyzed using paired and independent t-test. Results：The results were as follows : 1. In the experimental group, manual dexterity were significantly increased between pre and post intervention(p<.05). 2. In the experimental group, tactile sesne in finger were sifnificantly increased between pre and post intervention(p<.05). Conclusion：The results of this study shows that
-wave music and art appreciation affect the hand function of hemiplegic side with regard to manual dexterity and tactile sense.
