An Asymmetric Buffer Management Policy for SSD

Recently the Solid State Drive (SSD) is widely used for storage system of various mobile devices. In this case, existing buffer replacement algorithms based on the hard disk do not consider characteristics of flash memory, so it caused performance degradation of the system. This paper proposes a novel buffer replacement policy called ABM (Asymmetric Buffer Management) policy. ABM policy separates read and write buffer space and applies different replacement unit and replacement algorithm for each buffer. In addition, write buffer delay scheme and dynamic size adaptation algorithm is applied for better performance. ABM outperforms other replacement policies, especially ABM-LRU-CLC shows 32% better performance than normal LRU policy.
The usability analysis of the Ray-sum technique and SSD (Shaded Surface display) technique in stomach CT Scan

The analysis and image evaluation the Ray-sum technique and Shaded Surface Display (under SSD) technique which is the reconstruction image processing technique after the CT scan was evaluated and the usability of the three-dimensional information offering was confirmed in the patient with stomach cancer. After obtaining the raw data by using 64-MDCT in 20 patient with stomach cancers, the image reconstruction processing was done. It was evaluated to describe accurately the analyzed result Ray-sum and SSD reconstruction image everyone anatomical structure. In the precision estimation of the image, the lesion location could coincide in the Ray-sum and SSD reconstruction image majority with the gastro fiberscope and we can know than the gastro fiberscope over 6cm that there was the error. In addition, We could know that degree of accordance of the results of the image interpretation about the lesion and endoscope and pathological opinion were high.
The Value of Three-Dimensional Reconstructions of MRI Imaging using Maximum Intensity Projection Technique

The purpose of this study was to examine the usefulness of 3D reconstruction images in breast MRI by performing a quantitative comparative analysis in patients diagnosed with DCIS. On a 3.0T MR scanner, subtraction images and 3D reconstruction images were obtained from 20 patients histologically diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The findings from the quantitative image analysis are the following: The 3D reconstruction images showed higher SNR at the lesion area, ductal area, and fat area that of the subtraction image. In addition, the CNR were not significantly different in the lesion area itself between the subtraction images and 3D reconstruction images.
Design and Evaluation of DRM Model with Strong Security Based on Smart Card

Recently, digital rights management (DRM) related researches are widely spreading with prosperity of IT industries. The DRM technology protects proprietor of copyright by preventing mischanneling and illegal copy. In this paper, we propose a new DRM model that has an enhanced and efficient protocol based on certificate using smart card. The proposed model overcomes weaknesses of WCDRM model and has following additional advantages: first, copy protection is enhanced by hiding user's specific information from attacker by storing the information within smart card; second, server load for contents encryption is reduced by making clear protocols among author, distributer, certificate authority, and users; third, offline user authentication is guaranteed by combining partial secret values in media players and smart card. Exposure of core information also is minimized by storing them in smart card. In addition, we show that the proposed system is more secure than WCDRM model by comparing various factors of anonymous attackers.
Timing Synchronization for film scoring

This study deals with Timing Synchronization of motion picture and music in film music's physical point of view. Timing Synchronization appears by using Click Track, which calculates time of picture and location of bar. We also can find Hit, the emphasis point of music, by computation Frame Per Beat and estimate the location of note per time. Hit can be placed at upbeat, but, because of music's characteristic, it is more convenient to composer when it's placed at downbeat. Therefore, this study suggests three methods to sync the music and picture. First of all, sync through time conversion, second of all, sync through tempo conversion, and lastly, there is way to sync through offset. These each methods have their pros and cons, so choice should be made based on the music's natural flow.
Study on Statecharts-based Progressive Behavior LOD Model for Virtual Objects

This paper introduces a Statecharts-based progressive behavior LOD model for computer games and virtual reality systems. In order to use computing resources efficiently and generate an LOD model having arbitrary complexity, we defined a progressive behavior LOD model which including a Statecharts-based specification process, refinement operations, a switching policy, and an LOD selection policy. Additionally, in order to show the possibility of the proposed approach, we demonstrate an example of progressive LOD models by illustrating a step-by-step design of a virtual vehicle.
A case study on the effect of real-time microblogging activities in offline lecture environments

In-person lectures have structural issues that active communications in the classroom are limited because of the environments where the instructor usually delivers learning contents in a unilateral manner. Therefore, microcontents activities using real-time microblogging were suggested as complementary measures for the lecture in this study. Fourteen students in K University participated in the learning activity for eight weeks using a microblog during instructions. As a result, it was found that participants' positive learning activities increased by producing and collaborating ideas through real-time microblogging. Based on the results, suggestions were made as follows: strategies for the attention to the class, quality management of microcontents, and the development of blended learning design should be more studied further.
Analysis for the Smart Phone Ecosystem and its Economic Spillover Effects

The smart phone is globally spreading, since the Apple rolled out the iPhone. Thereafter the smart phone ecosystem is being reorganized and strongly governed by the Apple and Google, the mobile OS providers. And the mobile carriers are pushed out of the ecosystem with the progress of the dump pipe. Even though the South Korea has the strong position as a global leader in ICT industries, it have not properly coped with this new situation and is falling to the follower in the smart phone era. Therefore it should try to take advantage of the current of the times like its component industry who already enjoys the fruit. This paper reveals the new structure of the ecosystem along its value chain with the digital open markets, OS providers, phone manufacturers, and mobile carriers. And it shows the economic spillover effects using the input-output analysis. Consequently, this paper will provide the valuable implications to companies in setting up the efficient strategies and the regulator in promoting the ICT industry.
A Study on the Image Search System using Mobile Internet

AI(Artificial Intelligence) refers to the area of computer engineering and IT technology that focuses on the methodology and creation of intelligent agents. The Othello game is often produced with AI, since it is played with relatively simple rules on a board and on a limited space of 8 rows and 8 columns. Previous algorithms take longer time than desirable and often fail to face new circumstances, as they search for all the possible cases and rules. In order to solve this crucial weakness, we propose that a CBR algorithm be applied to Orthello. Case-Based Reasoning(CBR), is the process of solving new problems based on the solutions of the past similar problems. We can apply this process to Othello and expedite the process of computer reasoning for a solution to new cases based on the data from accumulated past cases. Then, these new solutions are dynamically added to the set of past cases so that it becomes harder for players(users) to be able to read the pattern. The proposed system in which a CBR algorithm is applied to the Othello game makes the computation process faster and the game harder to play.

Although it takes a form of a book, it exceeds stereotypes seen in paperbacks or eBooks. Because of such differentiated characteristics of this appBook (which is provided in the form of app), it induce users(readers) to conduct interactional activity. This study will mainly discuss about the formation of discourse of app based digital novel in a media aesthetic point of view. Considering the mutual relation between property of media and contents of stories, it is desirable to accommodate the mutuality of understanding between the digital media and formation discourse in creating stories.
Needs Analysis of Vocational Education and e-Learning for Foreign Workers in Korea

In this study we analyzed the foreign workers' needs for pre-training and post support, and researched possibility of e-Learning as the effective methodology for foreign workers' vocational development. A total of 1872 people were participated in this study. The first contents of the survey were satisfaction and difficulties focusing on pre-training. The second contents were willingness to participate in post-training program, the expected difficulties related to post support. The third contents were preferences and needs of e-Learning, The results revealed various issues of the pre-training and post support. Foreign workers showed high expectation and needs on post training program, but the problems such as lack of time and workplace leave were pointed out to the greatest difficulties. Considering their high preferences for e-Learning, a possibility and necessity of e-Learning which can resolve difficulties of the workplace leave and give the customized service at different conditions and levels of training was anticipated.
Attribute-Rich Log-Structured Filesystem for Semantic File Search on SSD

During the last decades, other parts of operating systems, storage devices, and media are changed steadily, whereas filesystem is changed little. As data is grown bigger, the number of files to be managed also increases in geometrically. Researches about new filesystem schemes are being done widely to support these files efficiently. In web document search area, there are many researches about finding meaningful documents using semantic search. Many researches tried to apply these schemes, which is been proven in web document search previously, to filesystems. But they've focused only on higher layer of filesystem, that is not related seriously to storage media. Therefore they're not well tuned to physical characteristics of new flash memory based SSD which has different features against traditional HDD. We enhance log structured filesystem, that is already well known to work better in SSD, by putting semantic search scheme to and with multi logging point.
A Study of Library and IT Services Improvement for enhancing the Domestic Reading Disabled People's Information Accessibility

IT skills might be just a product for people without disabilities; however it can be "another sense" that is able to give the disabled the same social abilities as non-disabled people. Library services are necessary to help disabled people have access to information. The effectiveness of the library services for the disabled depends on the level and the size of library. If 10% of the total domestic population couldn't participate in their social activities, it must be a huge individual at the same time national loss. This paper will look into supporting technologies and services for the reading disabled through literature researches and visiting domestic and international libraries. Based on this analysis, this paper suggests development plans for enhancing domestic situation. We are sure that our suggestions can contribute to give a long-term service development strategy for improving the reading disabled people's information accessibility.
