A study on mobile web design for efficient delivery of information

The importance of effective delivery of information in the mobile web is increasing in Korea, due to the growing number of smart-phone users. In this study, I took a look at the characteristics of mobile devices and the mobile web, and after researching Korea's portal websites' mobile web designs, we figured out the users' preferences of mobile web designs through surveys and interviews. To provide compressed information on a small screen, it is ideal for significant contents to show up in the state that does not require scrolling. Users preferred compact and neat designs, and menus that were made with icons that are easy to touch with fingers, in the mobile web. When receiving delivered information, users preferred not only texts but texts that were provided together with photograph images. If usability evaluations and examination of preferences are achieved together, I think it will serve as a mobile web guideline that enables efficient delivery of information in the mobile web.
The Analysis of Cerebral Aneurysm's Prone position Using Computed Tomography Equipment

This research studied 249 patients who has an aneurysm and went through computerized CT angiography at S University Hospital in Northern Kyung-sang area from October 1st 2008 to September 30th 2010, and the results are the following. Among total 249 of research objects, 159 women (63.9%) showed higher distribution than 90 men (36.1%) The order of the distribution of aneurysm classified by blood vessel is the following. Posterior communicating artery 34.9% as the highest, internal carotid artery 21.7%, middle cerebral artery of 15.7%, anterior communicating artery 14.5%, posterior cerebral artery and posterior cerebral artery channel 3.6% each, anterior cerebral artery and vertebral artery 2.4% each, and posterior inferior cerebellar artery 1.2%. As a result of analysis of distribution of aneurysm classified by gender, there was no case of posterior cerebral artery and posterior cerebral artery channel among men, and there was no case of posterior inferior cerebellar artery among women. Distribution of aneurysm classified by vessel according to gender showed no statistic significance. (p<0.05). And distribution of aneurysm classified by vessel according to the age, showed no statistic significance. (p>0.05), After applying post analysis to understand the group with age difference, the significance was the highest among the group of 61-70, (4.21), and the group of the age under 30 was the lowest. (2.0) There was statistic significance on the distribution of aneurysm classified by vessel according to the season. (p<0.05). After applying post-analysis in order to understand the groups with difference between seasons, it was found that fall was the highest (4.55) and spring was the lowest. (2.50)
Real-time Sign Object Detection in Subway station using Rotation-invariant Zernike Moment

The latest hardware and software techniques are combined to give safe walking guidance and convenient service of realtime walking assistance system for visually impaired person. This system consists of obstacle detection and perception, place recognition, and sign recognition for pedestrian can safely walking to arrive at their destination. In this paper, we exploit the sign object detection system in subway station for sign recognition that one of the important factors of walking assistance system. This paper suggest the adaptive feature map that can be robustly extract the sign object region from complexed environment with light and noise. And recognize a sign using fast zernike moment features which is invariant under translation, rotation and scale of object during walking. We considered three types of signs as arrow, restroom, and exit number and perform the training and recognizing steps through adaboost classifier. The experimental results prove that our method can be suitable and stable for real-time system through yields on the average 87.16% stable detection rate and 20 frame/sec of operation time for three types of signs in 5000 images of sign database.
A Design and Implementation of DAISY3 compliant Mobile E-book Viewer

The DAISY, an international digital talking book standard, has been established to help reading-disabled people read books normally. As many societies' interests in reading-disabled people are arising, reading environment for them is also getting improved by supplying alternative books. In the digital world, however, there is still lack of e-book playing software for them. In this paper, we design and partially implement an android smartphone e-book viewer. By analyzing the features and relations of DAISY3 files, we can find several important design points to properly implement DAISY3 viewer. We are sure, when using our results, that various DAISY3-compliant e-book viewers can be implemented easily and quickly.
Analysis of MIMD Backoff Algorithm for IEEE 802.11 DCF

The MAC of IEEE 802.11 WLAN to control data transmission uses two control methods called DCF and PCF. The DCF controls the transmission based on CSMA/CA The BEB backoff algorithm of DCF shows relatively excellent performance in situation that the number of competing station is less, but has a problem that performance of throughput and delay is degraded in situation that the number of competing station is increased. This paper mathematically analyzes an MIMD backoff algorithm considering retry limit that increases the CW to doubled after collision and decreases smoothly the CW to halves after successful transmission in order to reduce the collision probability. To prove efficiency of the MIMD backoff algorithm, lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed.
The Web Application Program for Integrated Print and Distribution Tools Based on Contents Editing

The web trend has been flowed from portal site to user created contents site, recently. Therefore, many companies have suggested web program of producing contents for user's convenience. However, web applications that are operated in various web browsers and heterogeneous devices have many problems regarding distribution and management so far. Because of diverse one-source data formats. In this paper, we present an integrative displaying and distributing tool (IDD-Tool) for editing, distributing and managing multimedia contents and environment so that users can work. It is inspected that the tool is widely used in the fields of education, publication, corporations and etc. because a user can participates in contents producing easily in personal customized workplace with IDD-Tool and contents made by IDD-Tool are distributed.
Qualitative Study on Service Features for Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the probated transmission-platform that provide the enterprise or individual with efficient and cost-effective IT service on internet. Cloud computing serve as data or computing is moved from desktop or portable PC to the massive data center. Searching for the services offered by cloud computing indicates that their current service feature needs to be improved to satisfy current and future customers. This study attempted to satisfy this need by identifying the service's features for the cloud computing service environment through qualitative approaches. Finally, we classify into seven features(Security, Reliability, Availability, Inter-operating, Economic, Intellectual Property) of cloud computing service.
A Voice-Annotation Technique in Mobile E-book for Reading-disabled People

Digital talking book has been developed to enhance reading experiences for reading-disabled people. In the existing digital talking book, however, annotations can be created only through the screen interfaces. Screen annotation interfaces is of no use for reading-disabled people because they need reader's eyesight. In this paper, we suggest a voice annotation technique can create notes and highlights at any playing time by using hearing sense and voice command. We design a location determination technique that pinpoints where a voice annotation should be placed in the playing sentences. To verify the effectiveness of our voice annotation technique, we implement a prototype in an android platform. We can find out by the black-blindfolded users testing that our system can perfectly locate the exact position that a voice annotation should be placed into.
A Study on Optimizing the Number of Clusters using External Cluster Relationship Criterion

The k-means has been one of the popular, simple and faster clustering algorithms, but the right value of k is unknown. The value of k (the number of clusters) is a very important element because the result of clustering is different depending on it. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm based on an external cluster relationship criterion which is an evaluation metric of clustering result to determine the number of clusters dynamically. Experimental results show that our algorithm is superior to other methods in terms of the accuracy of the number of clusters.
Dynamic Channel Assignment Scheme Based on the Number of Success and Collision of Random Channel in HIPERLAN/2

In HIPERLAN/2, the radio channels are assigned by AP(Access Point) that is centrally operated and the MAC protocol is based on TDMA/TDD. Mobile terminal that data transmission is necessary to uplink requests radio resource to AP through RCH channel. The changing number of RCHs in each MAC frame is important because too many RCHs may result in a waste of radio resources and too few RCHs may result in many access collisions and prolong time that connect to AP. Hence the number of RCH should be allocated properly according to traffic. From these point, this paper proposes an scheme that dynamically assigned the number of RCH which is based on the number of success and collision of message in previous MAC frame. To prove efficiency of proposed scheme, lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed.
Performance Analysis of Adaptive OFDM Systems using Adaptive Equalizer

In this paper, the performance of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) was assessed by using computer simulations performed using Matlab. We analyzed channel estimation algorithm for adaptive modulation techniques and effect of system using designed simulator in Multimedia wireless communication multipath fading channel environment. Also, we analyzed performance of adaptive OFDM systems that apply adaptive equalizer using guided result through BER. In result, in case of adaptive modulation OFDM systems that modulation mode changes according to channel state, we knew that adaptive modulation OFDM systems have gains of about 7dB performance than general system (BER=
). Thus we know that adaptive OFDM propose systems is required for efficient transmission in the high speed Multimedia wireless communication channel environment.
Mobile Location-based SNS(Social Network Service) for the Disabled Students

Recent popularity of the smartphone market, with the explosive growth of mobile location-based SNS(Social Network Service), is into the mainstream. SNS aims to cooperate and share information with all users, but mobile SNS is still not easy people with disabilities. In addition to using the Web, it has difficulty to provide an appropriate interface to access such as smartphone for people with disabilities. This paper will specify and analyze the context-awareness technology and SNS function, and study a variety of information that students with disabilities such as time, location and activity states including data collection and analysis of the situation by converting the status information. It has provide that students with disabilities to lead comfortable life in school according to the various types of disabilities, and school information and safety services using mobile location-based SNS.
The Transition of Reading/Writing Culture and Emerging Digital Contents-Focusing on Bakhtin's "The prose of everyday life"

Reading and writing in the past make noble significance in 'narration', in other words, in 'the creation of narration', through the process of 'recording'; but in the modern times, it engenders controversies over narration and linearity. In other words, reading/writing in digital era, is devalued as the simple arrangement of test or the connection of vast information without narration nor linearity. However, the reading/writing through text and hypertext reading is not the phenomenon which should be criticized because of the lack of narration or linearity-not only the lack of narration and linearity -, a process of social and cultural transition; it should be revalued as a result. The change of reading and writing methods will inevitably accompany the layers, status, significance and value of the contents; thus it makes more sense, when the reading and writing methods in digital contents are approached as new pop culture phenomenon. This is the "The prose of everyday life", based on pop culture and "The society of Conversation", based on communication; proposed 'Digitelling' ; this is the reason why we should pay attention to the digital contents, created infinitely by the citizens of the world, as new mass-culture phenomenon.
Research on the Effect of Different motivations on the Participation in SNSs

The purpose of this study was to examine major motivations for using SNSs and the effect of them on SNS participation. In order to address the research questions, 253 undergraduate and graduate students participated. Results of the study were summarized as follows. First, Cyworld was mainly used followed by Facebook and Twitter. Most of the respondents had access to SNSs via smart devices. The average frequency of SNS use was 1-3 times a day and they used them less than 30 minutes a time. The reasons why they started to use SNSs were mainly to follow current trends, maintain friendship, and accept acquaintances recommendations. Second, the result of component analysis derived four primarily underlying dimensions related to SNS use; self-satisfaction, social interaction, recreation, and information seeking. Third, both self-satisfaction and social interaction motivation had significant correlation with SNS participation. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that self motivation was more influential on active participation than social interaction and information seeking motivation.

During the last 5 years, maritime safety navigation with IT has been a big issue. After the International Maritime Organization defines the e-Navigation strategy, various information on board can be integrated by their needs and aims. Especially, on-board information monitoring might use the single integrated display under consideration of user convenience. To do this, this paper suggests a user interface design guideline based on definition and analysis of the integration requirements and the existing commercial product.
A nonvocal communication system for emotional expression of characters in 2D games

Characters' nonvocal communication plays an essential role in delivering lines and expressing emotions. A character in a game is represented with its nonvocal behavior combined with a large number of lines. In this paper, characters' nonvocal communication behaviors are categorized and analyzed. Furthermore, characters' gestures and movements are designed with bones for character gesture generation in 2D games. Besides, characters' movements are visualized. In brief, a nonvocal communication system for emotional expression of characters in 2D games is proposed.
