A method for designing viewer-specific EPG configurations and its supporting environment for dynamically implementing the EPG configurations

TV broadcasting platform is evolving to the digital-TV, which is supporting data broadcasting service. Although the data broadcasting services (i.e., games, wether information, stock trading service) provide rich entertainment to viewers, they make the operation manners of digital-TV so complex that some viewers feel difficulty in using their TV sets. The paper tackles the problem by devising a method for constructing viewer-specific EPG configurations based on the viewers' ability of handling IT devices. The paper also propose an environment (e.g., EPG configuration transmitting method, EPG structure) that implements dynamically an EPG configuration based on the viewer's choice of EPG configuration.
Analysis on Serious Games for Psychotherapy

Serious games combine game entertainment with original purpose in special fields(education, health, sport, military, public), Now, many serious games have been developing in this country, but main points on development factors in serious games have not been presented. In this paper, we analyze existing games which were developed for psychotherapy with essential factors of human-service game presented by Hy Resnick and Moshe Sherer, for developing serious games in psychotherapy field. And, we discuss development methods of psychotherapy game based on the analyzed factors. This paper shows theoretical bases in serious game for psychotherapy, provides guidelines for developers to produce a serious game in psychotherapy.
Content based data search using semantic annotation

Various documents, images, videos and other materials on the web has been increasing rapidly. Efficient search of those things has become an important topic. From keyword-based search, internet search has been transformed to semantic search which finds the implications and the relations between data elements. Many annotation processing systems manipulating the metadata for semantic search have been proposed. However, annotation data generated by different methods and forms are difficult to process integrated search between those systems. In this study, in order to resolve this problem, we categorized levels of many annotation documents, and we proposed the method to measure the similarity between the annotation documents. Similarity measure between annotation documents can be used for searching similar or related documents, images, and videos regardless of the forms of the source data.

Ubiquitous Computing is required to define models for broad context information occurrence by surrounding environment and to study how to model a mechanism for selectively collecting useful pieces of context information and providing relevant intelligent services. Further, studies are also required as to process of context information, and its maintenance and reasoning. However, current context-aware research area still lacks modeling technique that reflects the characteristics of ontology effectively for providing relevant intelligent services. It has also limitation about context reasoning and interoperability among context information. Therefore, this paper proposes ontology-based context-aware modeling technique and framework enabling efficient specification of context information for providing intelligent context-aware services that support context management and reasoning.
A Study on UCC Video Editing for Sensibility Delivery

UCC (User Created Contents) video rapidly rose as key contents of internet pop culture as a medium of 'sensibility delivery' that is created by a user without a commercial purpose. 'Sensibility delivery' is the ultimate purpose of UCC video and it can only be completed with 'well composed' storytelling. However, it is difficult to expect high degree of completion from noncommercial UCC videos due to an instable production environment and many variables. Thus, this study has been suggested 'detailed storytelling editing' process from editing phase in order to minimize problems of instable UCC videos. This suggestion based on actual results and award winning works of UCC videos of a team of research will raise a bond of sympathy, lead creative change, and expand the function of 'sensibility delivery' by increasing the degree of completion of work with unified final cut.
An Empirical Study on Improvement model for Measuring of Project Similarity

The annual R&D investment in Korea increased by an average of 12.2percent during the last 5 years. Therefore, prevention of duplicate projects being performed became an important factor in promoting the efficiency of R&D investment and the originality of R&D projects. On measuring the similarity of projects, the measurement model used to estimate the accuracy of the similarity is crucial. In this paper, we propose an advanced measurement model on checking the similarity of R&D projects for promoting the efficiency of R&D investment. The proposed model is made up of the following steps for the model measurement, sampling and analyzing. During the sampling step, we append the abstract of R&D reports on the search engine based on document vector. We then measure the similarity on projects to use research title network which is consists of the compound keyword and the weight of items on during the analysis. The proposed method improved the accuracy for measuring the similarity of projects by an average of 0.19 over the existing search engine and by 9.25 over the simple keyword search on R&D projects. On searching the similarity with the appending conditions and high sampling, it improved the accuracy of measuring the similarity of R&D projects.
Auditory and Language Training Service Model and Serious Game Contents Design for the hearing-impaired

Auditory and language train for the hearing-impaired is an essential course improving conversational capability with non-deaf and accompanying the financial burden and the physical fatigue of parents or a teacher. To reduce these problems, web-based training contents have been developed. But these contents have been developed without consideration of individual difference such as various levels of residual hearing and the learning capability of hearing-impaired. Therefore, it is important that appropriate training progress for each hearing-impaired should be designed by evaluating and analyzing the personal status, residual hearing, learning capability and training achievement. This paper suggests auditory and language training service model for the hearing-impaired, which is planning and managing an auditory and learning training based on personal evaluation. In addition, this paper suggests a design method for a serious game content planing based on this service model.
A Comparative Analysis of Broadcasting News about Social Conflict Issues: Focused on Between Central and Local News Frame

This study examines how television news constructed an issue of social conflict between nationwide and local broadcasting. Especially, this study focused on new ariport of east-south region in Korea. To do this, this study conducted frame analysis on KBS, MBC, SBS main news including national and local ones, broadcasted from 1 January, 2011 to 15 April, 2011. In addition, frame analysis was divided into two aspects, formal and substance. As a result, the findings are as follow: First, in formal aspect both national and local broadcastings are dealing with episode style news frames, while subject style is just 7.5%. Second, in substance aspect, 6 categories are founded: site decision frame, competition and conflict frame, economic frame, rescission and response frame, government countermeasure and alternative frame, etc frame. In conclusion, national and local broadcasting television news have different perspective each other on defining an issues of social conflict like east-south new airport.
Enhanced Smoothing Algorithm Using GOP Unit

Smoothing is a transmission plan where variable rate video data is converted to a constant bit rate stream. These smoothing algorithms include CBA, MCBA, MVBA, PCRTT and others. But, these algorithms build a transmission plan per frame unit. So, these algorithms cause frame burst or GOP burst. In order to improve it, MVBAG algorithm build a transmission plan per GOP. But this algorithm may not guarantee QoS when frame's size is abruptly larger or smaller than the computed transmission rate. In this paper, a smoothing algorithm is proposed to enhance MVBAG algorithm's problem. In order to show the proposed algorithm's performance, the proposed algorithm is compared with MVBAG algorithm using various evaluation factors such as number of frames that do not meet the QoS, average transmission rate variability per frame, average transmission rate variability per GOP. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms MVBAG algorithm in number of frames that do not meet the QoS.
Case Study on Disney Animation's Character Pipeline

Though there has been great advances in films' computer graphics both in technical and artistic side, there is still a big gap between computer graphics (a.k.a CG) studios in South Korea and major CG studios in US. Therefore, in this research, based on working experience at Disney Animation and information from working professionals in major CG studios, this paper analyzes strengths and weakness of character pipeline that major CG studios have by using examples and then suggest what CG studios in South Korea need. Steps of research process is to analyze what CG studios in South Korea developed, what are the strengths and weakness of Disney's character pipeline system and how these strengths can be applied to CG studios in South Korea.

Most of electronic medical record systems which have been built in Korean hospitals are based on source oriented medical record approach. These systems hardly satisfy diverse objectives owing to the innate imperfections in system architecture and development methodology. Thus, the hybrid of source oriented and problem oriented approach is highly desirable. The purpose of this study is to present an architecture and methodology required to construct hybrid electronic medical record system and to develop a prototype based on them. Analyzing the clinical processes and data requirements of problem oriented medical record approach we developed a software process model as weel as an architecture model which consists of legacy system, clinical data repository, problem list database, prospective plan database, user interface, and synchronization procedures.
A Study on the Paperless Waiting Order Count System for Green IT

One of the most important paradigms in society has recently been a set of efforts to prepare for the future and to protect the environment by saving carbon that occurs in everyday life as well as in the industry. In order to successfully deal with this new paradigm, Korean government has adopted and implemented various policies including the green certification, the development of green technologies and green growth. Many agencies and organizations in both public and private sectors have established plans about the carbon savings and performed a lot of research using IT technology. For example, attempts have been made in Korea to use as electronic documents instead of paper documents using these green IT and mobile devices. This paper proposes a 'Paperless' waiting order count system using QR code and mobile phone as an example of green IT for 'Low carbon and Green growth'.
Study on Virtuality and Subjectivity of Augmented Reality in Media Remediation

This study purposed to interpret subjectivity, which centers on the concept of virtuality embedded in the process of virtualizing contextual awareness and mixing the boundary between realities and virtual realities for renewing the feeling of time and space represented by augmented realities in daily spaces, from the viewpoint of traditional media. By explaining how the reflection of reality is exposed focusing on immediacy and hypermediacy from the viewpoint of media remediation, we found that, different from conventional media, augmented reality enables the screen to function as a part of subject and play a role and, by doing so, converts it to the complete subject of digital media comprehending observers and operators.

A board-game is the genre which is the oldest among various game genres. Reflecting the issues, aspects & trend of the era, It contains social & cultural sources. For family activity, socializing & human networking, It is regarded such a good alternative leisure replacing on-line video game causing negative infection. In this research, for city marketing usage, we develop a specifically designed board-game with the source of historical people, must-see sights & local products. Also educational & commercial purposes are seriously considered.
Emotion Communication through MotionTypography Based on Movement Analysis

MotionTypography is crucial to effective emotional communication in digital society. In this paper, I study movements to represent emotion using motiontypography and approach two goals: First to define an emotional measure by means of emotion assesses by the public, Second to research image characteristics corresponding to movements. In this dissertation, we collect emotional words by literature and experimental surveys and extract representative emotional words using KJ method and clustering analysis. The results of research, the emotional axes selected for motiontypography represent 'calm to active' and 'soft to stiff', the viewers feel a specific emotional state from some movements of motiontypography. If, we investigate the relationship of motiontypographic visual elements with emotional words are achieved together, I think it will serve as a motiontypographic guideline that enables helping the public to easily produce motiontypography.
Stack Allocation-based Memory Performance Improvement Technique on Android 2.3 Dalvik Virtual Machine

In this paper, we propose a stack allocation technique of Android Java objects in order to reduce the number of garbage collection which is one of major reason on Android performance degradation when running applications. The proposed technique is to allocate Java objects into stack rather than heap memory. To do so, stacked objects could escape the garbage collection process. We experiment the proposed technique in the latest Android 2.3 version. For the simulation, we take advantage of the well known Java benchmark, Caffeinemark, and our own. The result shows the performance degradation of Dalvik Virtual Machine execution time caused by the stack allocation of Java objects is very slight and the proposed method considerably reduces the frequency of garbage collection. This will increase application performance and give better user interfaces to Android phone users.
Design of A Distributed Server System for Supporting Enormous Users Using Blocks

In this paper, I propose a distributed game server system which has flexibility of enormous game character's processing in MMORPG using block scheme. I proposed game servers in distributed system grouped with zone which charge of each map, and the game servers in this zone divide game map into several unit blocks and process distributing blocks to game servers according to its performance. I proposed distributed game server system using block scheme can add/drop game map to/from easily through block process method in game and communication servers. Therefore, my proposed system can enormous character processing and add user created game map to existed game map easily in the future as well. Also, my scheme increases the system utilization and upgrades system stability by dynamic distribution of game map according to the number of characters and performance of servers.
A Smart Ticketing System Based-on Hybrid Web

In this paper, we have designed and implemented a commercial web system for the future which resolves the necessary security and compatibility to the existing issues in various fields such as theater or the ball park that tickets are issued. The system presents the OTP (One Time Password) system using the mobile in order for defense in the bypass hacking technique such as screen hacking and for greater security. Also, we presents a smart ticketing system that improve the existing responsive hybrid web. It uses Non-ActiveX System which solve compatible problems with present systems that don't use ActiveX. Also, it is available in a variety of environments and equipment. In addition, the system provides an intelligent screen switching systems using the characteristics of mobile devices, an automatic discount system, and a venue information system which shows the shortest distance to the venue considering the commercial portion.
An Implementation of Smartphone-based Multiple Musical Instruments Application supporting Social Playing

Due to the development of mobile devices and communication technology, cell phones have radically evolved from portable phones into smartphones and provided variety of services to a society. This paper presents Multi-user Musical Instrument application for smart phones based on band instruments such as piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drum. This application makes music playing from smartphone to integrative music data stream using the synchronization function of server. In addition, user can play it of smartphone efficiently by implementing a graphic user interface similar to real musical instruments.

Real Estate Auction Information System purposes on providing high quality information of auction customized to consumer's situation and preference. Especially, ever-changing real time information such as the number of hits and advanced analysis for expecting the winning bid are requiring of mobile information system based on context awareness. Therefore, this paper studies on Real Estate Auction Information System based on context awareness under a smart phone environment providing auction information such as consumer's current position, the number of hits to a specific real estate, and the number of bidder to anticipate the winning bid.
Derivation of Methodology Tailoring Rules in Healthcare Industry

In the case of the domestic medical industry, work is conducting according to the convenience of the developer without guiding principles regarding tailoring and a number of processes and products that should not have been omitted considering the characteristics of corresponding sites were discovered. As a result of this omission, it was found that the delivery period was not met and problems arose for an extensive period of time after the activation of the system. The lack of critical processes and products had a negative impact on the productivity and quality of the software. This paper defines the processes that need to be followed as a basis and the products that need to be prepared during the development of a medical information system. Also, additional processes and products are presented depending upon the condition of the project. Especially, the step-by-step assessment processes and products to manage the assessment results were seriously dealt with in this study to strengthen the compliance of processes and the product quality.

In developing countries, economically under-privileged are mostly consisted of women, therefore supporting those women signify supporting the local society and the family. Advancement of women's economic status not only contributes to her family but also to the local society, nation, and to the global world as a whole. This paper is a research on local informatization and successful model in e-business for Indonesia, which established interactive research model networking with Korea-Indonesia Research Institution and policy-makers for two years and susggested practical research model through visiting Pekalongan. Through activated interaction between women enterprises and policy makers from Korea and Indonesia, the research paper seeks to create research based network and provide opportunities of information access and business matching to local informatized and e-business enterprises. In research adopted regions, city development project has been accomplished in human, business and environmental field since 2005, and have selected Pekalongan region where infra is settled to certain extent. With the information about Indonesia's city development project, investigation on Pekalongan's current geographical, humanistic status quo, the paper aims to and create Indonesian female e-business professionals, e-business user, e-business producers and provide successful model on Pekalongan's local informatization and e-business.

This paper presents a design and implementation of Android-base Total Weather Information using XML(eXtensible Markup Language) techniques. Weather Information are changed using GPS location provider and XML parsing techniques according to the current location, This application alarms the weather information as the English voices when some alarm events appear regardless of the application access or finish. We design the user interface simple because the first impression is important in all applications.
