Codebook-Based Foreground Extraction Algorithm with Continuous Learning of Background

Detection of moving objects is a fundamental task in most of the computer vision applications, such as video surveillance, activity recognition and human motion analysis. This is a difficult task due to many challenges in realistic scenarios which include irregular motion in background, illumination changes, objects cast shadows, changes in scene geometry and noise, etc. In this paper, we propose an foreground extraction algorithm based on codebook, a database of information about background pixel obtained from input image sequence. Initially, we suppose a first frame as a background image and calculate difference between next input image and it to detect moving objects. The resulting difference image may contain noises as well as pure moving objects. Second, we investigate a codebook with color and brightness of a foreground pixel in the difference image. If it is matched, it is decided as a fault detected pixel and deleted from foreground. Finally, a background image is updated to process next input frame iteratively. Some pixels are estimated by input image if they are detected as background pixels. The others are duplicated from the previous background image. We apply out algorithm to PETS2009 data and compare the results with those of GMM and standard codebook algorithms.
Texture Image Generation Technique Considering Storage Optimization of 3D-Spatial Data

Recently, interests in space information data are increasing due to the initiation of spatial information open platform service by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The purpose of this study is optimizing management and storing of the texture data, one kinds of 3D-spatial data. First, extract 3D-spatial data through the aerial triangulation and 3D-writing using raw image taken with the Multi-directional aerial camera and the vertical aerial camera. And develop the method to create single texture data and related technique by align and place corresponding 3D-spatial data to optimal storage space. Through experiment, the results show effect of 8 times of storage capacity reduction compared to existing single-file storage method, additionally, new method can improve file management efficiency in comparison with multiple file storage method. The results of this study can be cornerstone of three-dimensional space information management when dealing with bulk data, and utilizations will be enhanced through the further studies and algorithm improvement.

A Design and Implementation of Natural User Interface System Using Kinect

As the use of computer has been popularized these days, an active research is in progress to make much more convenient and natural interface compared to the existing user interfaces such as keyboard or mouse. For this reason, there is an increasing interest toward Microsoft's motion sensing module called Kinect, which can perform hand motions and speech recognition system in order to realize communication between people. Kinect uses its built-in sensor to recognize the main joint movements and depth of the body. It can also provide a simple speech recognition through the built-in microphone. In this paper, the goal is to use Kinect's depth value data, skeleton tracking and labeling algorithm to recognize information about the extraction and movement of hand, and replace the role of existing peripherals using a virtual mouse, a virtual keyboard, and a speech recognition.
Implementation of the automatic standby power blocking socket outlet having a blocking power threshold per electronic device by the smart machine

In this paper, the automatic standby power blocking socket outlet to reduce standby power by blocking power threshold is implemented. Where, the standby power means a flowing power when a disused power electronic is plugged into the socket outlet. The proposed socket outlet can cut off the standby power by establishing a proper block power threshold electronic device according to each electronic device because it can monitor the amount of power through the smart machines such as the real-time PC or mobile phone and directly control the blocking power threshold. The software is implemented by using Visual Studio software, code vision and SN8 C studio, and the hardware is embodied in ATmega128, SN8F27E93S, USB to UART, and relay etc. Through the simulation, we find that the standby power of the proposed method is similar to that of the conventional method in case of the cellular phone but the standby power of the proposed method is much less than that of the conventional method in case of the computer, air conditioning, and set-top box. Therefore, it is proved that the proposed socket outlet has a superior performance in terms of the standby power.
The Future Direction of Information Literacy for the Aged in the Lifelong Learning : Centering on Gumi Senior Welfare Center

The Internet is being used in daily life, information literacy for the aged is become necessary. For the aged, they can communicate with different age groups and can improve their lives as a component of the society through information literacy. In this paper, we first analyze the computer class of Gumi Senior Welfare Center of Gyeongsangbuk-Do and then present the questionnaire including their needs for education and their changes after receiving information literacy. We also give the future direction of information literacy for the aged. The results of this paper will be useful to improve the lives of the local aged.
One-man Mobile Casual Game Production Using Unity 3D

Due to smart phones introduced since 2007, mobile contents production become activated and with this trend, attention among different age groups to production of mobile games has been growing. Whereas in the past, development of games was the domain of developers equipped with technical knowledge, provision of editor-type engines in recent times is lowering the high barrier of entry to game production. This paper proposes an event-based module design method from the perspective of general users, aimed at producing games by oneself with a Unity 3D, one of editor-type game engines. This is to plan behaviors and roles in the unit of modules in the whole process of a game to be in line with the perspective of game production by one person. Each module includes diverse events that express game characteristics. In addition, the script function provided by the Unity 3D is appropriate to embody the proposed module structure and utilizes the Unity 3D. Lastly, this study produce a simple 3D mobile casual game in order to verify whether effective game production from the planning to the development is possible through the proposed method.
A Study for Promotion Strategies of the Smart Grid in Convergence technology

The Smart Grid is next-generation power system materialized Convergence and Integration of power technologies and Information Technologies. And this system is the next generation power system optimizing energy efficiency via real-time information exchanges grafting the information technologies upon present power networks which are web-net. The introduction of smart grid can be embodied for latitude, distributed and cooperated network by inter-active exchange of energy information between electrical power provider and consumer previous uni-directional electrical power supplement. Therefore in this paper, we proposed Convergence technologies - Smart power grid, Smart Place, Smart Renewable and Smart Electricity Service - to make smart-grid succeed via analyzing the datum. And we scoped on Convergence and Integration technologies, which could be used for smart-power-grid that is most important factor to replace previous power industries. And we brought out the expecting industrialize timing and interesting aspects and analyzed the result with survey of professional worker from institute, research center, power plant and business of power industries. And proposed the essential policies for the government and power-control-business companies based on the datum and survey output.
A Study on registration using homography for 3D modeling

The purpose of this study is to propose the efficient method of 3D data registration. Three-dimensional data including the two-dimensional image acquisition apparatus and the position information are acquired at an arbitrary angle with each other. This paper proposes the more accurate and faster matching method by using this information. Four image points founded from 2D images match the volumetric size of the model and compute the homography of the axis for registration between two 3D data sets. The advantages of the proposed algorithm are the repeating process is unnecessary and the process time is faster than prvious method.
Design of Moving Object Pattern-based Distributed Prediction Framework in Real-World Road Networks

Recently, due to the proliferation of mobile smart devices, the inovation of bigdata, which analyzes and processes massive data collected from various sensors implaned in smart devices, expands to LBSs. Many location prediction techniques for moving objects have been studied in literature. However, as the majority of studies perform location prediction which depends on specific applications, they hardly reflect the technical requirements of next-generation spatio-temporal information services. Therefore, this paper proposes the design of general-purpose distributed moving object prediction query processing framework that is capable of performing primitive and various types of queries effectively based on massive spatio-temporal data of moving objects in real-world space networks.
A Quality Evaluation Model for Distributed Processing Systems of Big Data

According to the evolving of IT technologies, the amount of data we are facing increasing exponentially. Thus, the technique for managing and analyzing these vast data that has emerged is a distributed processing system of big data. A quality evaluation for the existing distributed processing systems has been proceeded by the structured data environment. Thus, if we apply this to the evaluation of distributed processing systems of big data which has to focus on the analysis of the unstructured data, a precise quality assessment cannot be made. Therefore, a study of the quality evaluation model for the distributed processing systems is needed, which considers the environment of the analysis of big data. In this paper, we propose a new quality evaluation model by deriving the quality evaluation elements based on the ISO/IEC9126 which is the international standard on software quality, and defining metrics for validating the elements.
Fax Sender Verification Technique Based on Pattern Analysis for Preventing Falsification of FAX Documents

Recently, in the course of business processes a variety of abuse cases of fax documents is common in general corporate, government, and financial institutions. To solve this problem, it is necessary for a technique to prevent falsification of fax documents. In this paper, we propose a new fax sender verification technique based on pattern analysis to prevent falsification of fax documents only using the received fax document. In the proposed technique, the fax sender is verified by analyzing the communication signal patterns between the fax sender and receiver and image pattern in the received fax document. In this paper, we conduct the experiments that apply our technique to real-world fax systems, and then tamper-proof effects were confirmed from the experimental results.
The Blog Polarity Classification Technique using Opinion Mining

Previous polarity classification using sentiment analysis utilizes a sentence rule by product reviews based rating points. It is difficult to be applied to blogs which have not rating of product reviews and is possible to fabricate product reviews by comment part-timers and managers who use web site so it is not easy to understand a product and store reviews which are reliability. Considering to these problems, if we analyze blogs which have personal and frank opinions and classify polarity, it is possible to understand rightly opinions for the product, store. This paper suggests that we extract high frequency vocabularies in blogs by several domains and choose topic words. Then we apply a technique of sentiment analysis and classify polarity about contents of blogs. To evaluate performances of sentiment analysis, we utilize the measurement index that use Precision, Recall, F-Score in an information retrieval field. In a result of evaluation, using suggested sentiment analysis is the better performances to classify polarity than previous techniques of using the sentence rule based product reviews.
