Design and Development of Digital Contents Authoring System for Cyber University Using Programing Skills
Cho Sae-Hong ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 1~7
The authoring systems for digital contents using multimedia technologies ate requested in many fields such as education, medical science, entertainment market e-commerce and etc. Especially, the emergence of cyber universities and the rapid expansion of on-line education market require the effective contents authoring systems, which have various functions to generate the qualified contents. Therefore, many systems arc developed and currently used. However, since the developed systems considered only the developer's convenience, the generated digital contents by using these systems are failed to draw tile users'(or learners') active interaction with contents. That is, since the users just watch the contents like watching a drama or a film, it causes many problems in delivering the contents effectively or in evaluating the users. This paper presents, develops, and implements the new contents authoring system by using programing languages and/or software tools. The presented, developed, and implemented system mimics the face-to-face education in off-line system, induces the users' active interaction with contents, and continuous evaluation to the users.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 9~19
Web robot is an important Internet software technology used in a variety of Internet application software which includes search engines. As Internet continues to grow, implementations of high performance Web robots are urgently demanded. For this, researches specially geared toward performance scalability of Web robots are required. Hoover, because researches are focused mostly on addressing issues related to commercial implementations, scientific researches and studies are not still made on the performance scalability. In this research, Ive choose a Web robot model implemented by fork-join based. multiprocesses. With respect to the model, we evaluate the effect on the collection efficiency that the timeout values set to requests from Web robots to Web servers have. Also, we analysed the behaviors of Web robots by comparing the execution time between the URL extraction and the uniqueness checking for the extracted URLs. as well as by comparing between the computation time and the network time. Based on the analysis result, we suggest the direction for the design of high performance Web robots.

This paper presents the automated component generation system to support development of web application by the Model 2 framework on distributed environment. Model 2 framework is based on MVC(Model View Controller) model and this model capsulate the functionality of web application and have the benefits like extensibility, maintainability, resuability. In this paper, we propose a framework which is adapted in JSP environment and implement the automated component generation system. This system can efficiently utilized for web application development which require extensibility, maintainability, resuability as well as rapid web application development.
Design and Implementation of PC based RMON Agent System for LAN Segment Management
Park Jin-Ho ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 31~40
Currently there are many standards of network management. They are: SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol - for Internet management), CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol - standardized by ITU-T and ISO), RMON(Remote network MONitoring - for distributed management of the LAN segment), and so on. Especially RMON has created the many concerns in order to manage subnetworks of a large network, but it has negative aspects. For instance, routers or hubs with RMON capability are expensive to a network manager because of adding heavy management cost. Moreover it imposes a heavier burden on network manager, because it must use a network management tool which will be additionally needed with RMON device. This paper proposes a model of PC based RMON Agent system. The RMON Agent system monitors the traffic on LAN segment through the use of a Virtual Device Driver(VxD), based on PC. In term of cost this model will replace the expensive RMON device, and eventually enable a network manager to manage LAN segment more efficiently, due to reduced cost.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 41~50
According to the rapid changing of modern Society, the portion and influence of the industries which are related to IT(Information Technology) have being Increased. Therefore, we need to recognize and learn to the new technologies such as ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) because they are very closely related to our living environments. Unfortunately, people who are not expertized to the ITS have had hard time to understand these systems. In this paper, we introduce a multimedia courseware which requires only simple operations of mouse and keyboard for education of ITS. This courseware includes not only the areas of services for user but also scopes and components, and applications of ITS, which make possible to understand what the ITS are When we apply this courseware to the people who we not specialized to ITS, they can understand the ITS more easily.
Realization of Intelligence Controller Using Genetic Algorithm.Neural Network.Fuzzy Logic
Lee Sang-Boo ; Kim Hyung-Soo ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 51~61
The FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) is stronger to the disturbance and has the excellent characteristic to the overshoot of the initialized value than the classical controller, and also can carry out the proper control being out of all relation to the mathematical model and parameter value of the system. But it has the restriction which can't adopt the environment changes of the control system because of generating the fuzzy control rule through an expert's experience and the fixed value of the once determined control rule, and also can't converge correctly to the desired value because of haying the minute error of the controller output value. Now there are many suggested methods to eliminate the minute error, we also suggest the GA-FNNIC(Genetic Algorithm Fuzzy Neural Network Intelligence Controller) combined FLC with NN(Neural Network) and GA(Genetic Algorithm). In this paper, we compare the suggested GA-FNNIC with FLC and analyze the output characteristics, convergence speed, overshoot and rising time. Finally we show that the GA-FNNIC converge correctly to the desirable value without any error.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 73~79
Most of the existing algorithms try to disseminate the multimedia contents of internet service provider(ISP), without taking into account the needs and characteristics of specific websites including e-learning systems with web-based .educational contents. Sometimes the client must select the best one among the replicated repositories. However, this is a less reliable approach because clients' selections are made without prior information on server load capacity. In this paper we propose an agent system inspired by the need of improving QoS of delivering web-based educational multimedia contents without incurring long access delays. This agent system consists of three components, Analyzer, Knowledge Base, and Automaton embedded the capacity algorithm. It analyzes and investigates traffic information collected from individual replicated server by learners' requests, and selects a server which is available and is expected to provide the fastest latency time and the lowest loaded capacity, and achieves high performance by dynamic replicating web resources among multiple repositories.
The Study on the Evaluation Model of the Web Interface Design
Shin Soon-Ho ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 81~91
The development of internet technology and communication is a great influenced on trends of our society in culture, economy, and policy. The informationized society related internet brought the change into the designer's attitude. Namely, designers who have a concern about internet web knew that the quality of design is more important in the web site to seek the new approach to the design in relation to internet market of an imaginary cyberspace. But we have not a good tool to evaluate the web design in the internet graphic interface especially by visual perception. Now, the major concern for this research is to study the evaluation criteria of the web design interface and offer some solutions to bring the objectivity of the evaluation method model in other to make the base of a new Internet culture in Korea.
A Design and Evaluation of Protocol for VBR Service in Wireless Multimedia Network
Lim Jae-Hwan ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 1, 2001, Pages 93~102
In this paper we proposed a wireless MAC Protocol called DTDD/PS (Dynamic Time Division Duplex using Poll/Select scheme), and throughput performance is evaluated using computer simulation. Simulation results indicate that the proposed DTDD/PS protocol increases the limitation of allowable loads that guarantee duality of services by dynamic allocation of slot based on the system status. Also the proposed protocol is shown to maintain stable throughput even in the case of traffic variations.
