Rule Generation and Approximate Inference Algorithms for Efficient Information Retrieval within a Fuzzy Knowledge Base
Kim Hyung-Soo ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 103~115
This paper proposes the two algorithms which generate a minimal decision rule and approximate inference operation, adapted the rough set and the factor space theory in fuzzy knowledge base. The generation of the minimal decision rule is executed by the data classification technique and reduct applying the correlation analysis and the Bayesian theorem related attribute factors. To retrieve the specific object, this paper proposes the approximate inference method defining the membership function and the combination operation of t-norm in the minimal knowledge base composed of decision rule. We compare the suggested algorithms with the other retrieval theories such as possibility theory, factor space theory, Max-Min, Max-product and Max-average composition operations through the simulation generating the object numbers and the attribute values randomly as the memory size grows. With the result of the comparison, we prove that the suggested algorithm technique is faster than the previous ones to retrieve the object in access time.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 117~127
Since the number of e-malls is increased by the rapidly Progress of internet, most e-malls are trying to increase customers' interests by providing personalized services. To Provide this service for CRM, the e-mall must use the personalized rules calculated from customer transaction database. The more filtered transaction data are, the more the e-mall services efficiently and exactly to customer's need. The filtered transaction database is necessary to obtain the food personalized rules. In this paper we propose and develope a personalized e-mall with association rules based on view history of excellent customers who have good transaction data. Association rules based on view history of excellent customers reduce the access time and computing costs. The e-mall with them can provide personalized services more efficiently and exactly.
The Efficient Bandwidth Control Method for Variable Data using ATM-GFR Service

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 129~138
With the explosive growth and pervasive of the Internet, dynamic bandwidth allocation is nessary for ATM streams that carry various traffic. In order to provide quality of service(QoS) guarantees and to give the minimum cell rate, new bandwidth allocation scheme requires to be implemented. DFBA(Differential Fair Buffer Allocation) scheme is one of the methods for ATM GFR(Guaranteed Frame Rate) services. DFBA scheme treats cells selectively in a region between low buffer occupancy threshold and high buffer occupancy threshold. A big unbalance is introduced when the value being selected by DFBA scheme is greater than minimum rate. In a try to reduce the unbalance modified DFBA scheme is proposed. Selecting parameter according to the situation of network, this scheme is very effective to control the bandwidth in the various network situation.
Excluding Technique Design for Duplicated Results of Search
Lee Seo-Jeong ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 139~145
As e-commerce has been activated and internet has been used as usual, higher efficient search engine must be used to promote the value of information and take possession of the market place. all e-commerce user seller and buyer want to competitive goods Although these needs, search results are still much to be desired. In this paper, I will suppose two ideas which are abbreviation result and making blacklist. Abbreviation result is to hide results with common factors and making blacklist is to reduce null links of search results, which makes many useless results. This routine is made of making blacklist, check list, reduce list and append list.

This study aims to examine the environmental aspect of users of PDA, an information device whose use is on the rise. The focus is put on the display of PDA products to see how it considered effectiveness and visual effect for users. A better environment will be presented for users by analyzing problems in interface design, such as how easily users can access information and how simply and clearly users can process such information. Additionally, each of PDA products will be tested to see what difficulties users can face while carrying out tasks and how easily users can cope with a problem when facing it. In this study, the utilization of PDA was analyzed in terms of its basic functions such as information input and the output and use of wanted information. Based on the analysis results, a better alternative for uses of PDA will be presented.
Contents-based Image Retrieval Using Regression of Shape Features
Song Jun-Kyu ; Choi Hwang-Kyu ;
Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 157~166
In this paper we propose a feature vector extraction technique using regression of shape features for the content-based image retrieval system. The proposed technique can reduce the number of dimensions of a feature vector by converting the extracted high-dimensional feature vector into a specific n-dimensional feature vector. This paper shows how to resolve the 'dimensionality curse' problem by reducing the number of dimensions of a feature vector, and shows that the technique is more efficient than the conventional techniques for the practical image retrievals.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 167~178
For high performance Grid environments, an effective GIS(Grid Information System) should be adopted. In the design of GIS architecture, its grid resource information model provides a key basis. This paper presents our study on the exploration of a high performance grid resource information model. According the exploration, we identified the followings. The resource information model should clearly address the issues of relation descriptions as well as resource descriptions, issues related to scheduling support, the issue of decoupling the expression model of resource information from data repository models, and finally the issue of decoupling user-level resource descriptions from system-level resource descriptions. Based on the proposed conceptual organization of resource information models, analysis result for the existing resource information models are presented.
Fingerprint Identification Using the Distribution of Ridge Directions

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 179~189
This paper aims at faster processing and retrieval in fingerprint identification systems by reducing the amount of preprocessing and the size of the feature vector. The distribution of fingerprint directions is a set of local directions of ridges and furrows in small overlapped blocks in a fingerprint image. It is extracted initially as a set of 8-direction components through the Gabor filter bank. The discontinuous distribution of directions is smoothed to a continuous one and visualized as a direction image. Then the center of the distribution is selected as a reference point. A feature vector is composed of 192 sine values of the ridge angles at 32-equiangular positions with 6 different distances from the reference point in the direction image. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm performs the same level of correct identification as a conventional algorithm does, while speeding up the overall processing significantly by reducing the length of the feature vector.
Design of Web-Based Digital Contents for Cyber University

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 191~197
The cyber university, which authoring systems for digital contents using multimedia technologies ate used for its courses, is highlighted to be a promising alternative for the current off-line education system. As the demand for the authoring system is constantly increasing, many systems, which emphasize the developers' convenience only, are currently used. Since the generated digital contents using these systems are failed to draw the learners' active interaction with contents, the new authoring system is expected to be existed. This paper presents, develops, and implements the new contents authoring system by using programing languages and/or software tools based on the storyboard. The presented, developed, and implemented system mimics the face-to-face education in off-line system, induces the users' active interaction with contents, and the effective evaluation system to the users.

Journal of Digital Contents Society, volume 2, issue 2, 2001, Pages 199~208
The industries of culture contents is the trend to enforce the power of National competitions in the world economy knowledge foundation which tries to exchange a labor industry to the knowledge business. The spread of internet is the apparently turning point to be devide the world economy into the industrial society and the digital society. Also the communication with internet has been recognized as it is not any more newly means of communication in Korea. Net value which is a multinational internet survey corporation clarified that Korea was the most nation in the world by the result of its research in the rate of using internet. This research look into the characteristic of the media and type of the animation in internet, also analysis a need of user and a degree of convenience of using internet in the web of education site. This study is designed to study the evaluation criteria of web interface with visual perception and to seek its development in relation to the quality of visual perception in case of web animation.
