A study on the Theory of contraindication in application herb medicin (用藥禁忌論)

1. The history of the theory of contraindication in application herb medicine (用藥禁忌論) was beginning with Neijing(內經). And interactions of various ingredients in aprescription(配伍關系) was developed independently through seven ways of combination of herbs(七情) in Shennongbencaojing(神農本草經). 2. About six ways combination of herbs, since item of incompatibility of herbs(藥相反) have been discreted in Taipingshenghuifang(太平聖惠方) of Song(宋) dynasty. In Jin(金) and Yuan(元) dynasties Zhang Congzheng(張子和) summarized eighteen incompatible medicaments and Li Dong yuan(李東垣) made a song of nineteen medicaments of mutual restraint(十九畏歌). In recent days, China Pharmacopeia(中國藥典) included 41 kinds of medicine which should not be combined. 3. Five visceras and five tastes are associated with each other, so if someone overeat five tastes then the associated viscera will get ill. and if one visera of someone get ill then he must'nt eat the associated taste and reinforcement or reduction(補瀉) id done by five tastes as the rule of joy and hate of organ's ki(臟氣苦欲). 4. Contraindication of syndromes (證候禁忌) is a contraindication as to diagnosis and treatment based on overall of symptoms and sign (辨證論治) and using herb medicine must be done by diagnosis of Symptoms and signs(辨證)． If herb medicine is not consilinent with syndromes(證候) then you should not use it. 5. By the theory of contraindications in combination of various ingredients in a prescription(配伍禁忌), which 15 done througth seven ways of combination of herbs(七情). one can avoid side-effects of drugs. 6. Some experimental Studies have been documented inappropriatness of eighteen incompatible medicaments which. if given in combination. are believed to give rise to serious side effects(十八反), and nineteen medicaments of mutual restraint (十九畏). 7. Contraindications of some specific foods when taking medicine(服藥禁忌) is determined as to a diagnosis of symptoms and signs(瓣證) of patients ' disease and combinations of various ingredients in a pr escription(配伍). 8. Contraindicated drugs during pregnancy(姙娠禁忌藥) can be divided into not-using drugs(禁用藥物）and carefully-using drugs(愼用藥物） by their level of severeness of hurt on a fetus. Toxic drugs, acutely acting drugs which relieve stagnation of ki(破氣), remove blood stasis(破血) should not be administered. and drugs which stimulate. menstrual discharge （活血通絡). promote digestion and remove food stagnancy (行氣導帶), or check upward perverted now of ki and induce diarrhea(沈降滑利) and hot drugs should be prescribed with discretion.
Comparative Study on the compounds of extraction and fraction of Ijintang

Ijintang was eatracted with water and methanol, respectively. And then each extract was fractionated with n-hexane, chloroform, n-butanol. Chemical constituents of each extract and fractions were compared by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometric(GC/MS) analysis. Aliphatic hydrocarbons of long chain were identified in the n-hexane fraction. polar compounds in the chloform fraction, and high mplecular weight compounds in the n-butanol fraction.
A Study for Standardization of Zingiberis Rhizoma - A Study on Quantitative Analysis of 6-gingerol in Zingiberis officinale ROSCOE(乾薑) by HPLC and extracting rate with different eluants -

Zingiberis Rhizoma(乾薑) is a popular herbal drug used to warm inside and dispel coldness(溫中逐寒). In this study, all samples were tested by qualitative analysis, extracting rate and quantitative analysis in orger to know lowest quality. The quantitative analysis for 6-gingerol present in the roots of Zingiberis officinale was conducted with high performance liquid chromatography with ODS
reversed phase column and a UV detector(photodiode array at 280 nm) at room temperature. Elution was carried out 1 ㎖/min. with a mixture of acetonitrile and water. Retention times were 7.15 min. for 6-gingerol. 1. In the water-extracting rate test, all samples showed over

. 2. In the qualitative analysis. all samples showed the same SP0t at 0. 23 Rf.(rate of flow) with short U.V. as the 6-gingerol showed. 3. In the quantitative analysis, 6-gingerol rate of all samples was quantified. and showed over 0.40%. From above results mentioned above, it is suggested that we should use Zingiber is Rhizoma whose 6-gingerol rate is above 0.40%.
Effects of Mixture with Various Kinds of Herbs on the Extraction Amount of Ginsenoside

The prescription of traditional Korean medicine is on the basis of the differentiation of syndromes and the establishment of the rapeeutic methods, to pick out proper drugs and organically constitute them in the light of the principles of formain a prescription. In this paper, we chose Ginseng Radix. And we obserbed the effects of mixture with Ginseng Radix in various kinds of herbs on the extraction amount of Ginsenoside
, Rc and Rd, one of the saponin compounds in Ginseng Radix. In the mixture of Rehmanniae Radix Preparat, Zingiberis Rhizoma, Glycyrrhizae Radix and Atractylodis Rhizoma, the extracting amount of Ginsenoside
, Rc and Rd is more than that of Gingseng Radix itself orderly. On the other hand, in the mixture of Aconiti Radix, Astragali Radix, Angelicae Radix and Poria, the is less than that of Ginseng Rhizoma itself orderly.
Effects of Psoraleae Semen on Antioxidation in Rats liver

Psoraleae Semen extract(PSE) was tested for the effects of free radical generating enxyme and lipid peroxidation in rat's liver. In vitro, levels of peroxide were proportionally decreased to concentration of PSE. Also, enzyme activities of aldehyde oxidase were decreased, too. But, there was not special changes on enzyme activities and the ratio of type conversion of xanthine oxidase. And, both superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical were proportionally decreased lipid peroxidation through decreasing of superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical caused aldehyde oxidase.

Effects of Shihogyejitang on the Gastric Ulcer in Rats Induced with Ethanol

In order to investigate the anti-ulceration effects of Shihogyejitang(柴胡桂枝湯), isotonic sodium chloride(Control Group) and Shihogyejitang were administrated to rats treated with ethanol. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Gastric juice secretion showed a statistically significant decrease in Sample in compared with Control. 2. Total acidity of gastric juice showed a statistically decrease in Sample in compared with Control. 3. HCI secretion showed astatistically decrease in Sample in compared with Control. 4. In the observation on the gastric mucosa, the effect of anti-ulceration was significantly improved and showed a statistically decrease in Sample in compared with Contreol. 5. Serum Gastrin level showed a statistically decrease in Sample in compared with Control. 6. The serum vitamin
level of Sample showed a statistically decrease in Sample in compared with Control. According to the above results, it is considered that Shihogyejitang have anti-ulcer-ation effect.
Effect of Shijakyukgunjatang on the Gastric Ulcer in Rats Induced with Ethanol

In order to investigate the anti-ulceration effects of Shijakyukgunjatang(柴芍六君子湯), isotonic sodium chloride(Control Group) and Shijakyukgunjatang(Sample Group) 52mg/100g were administrated to rats treated with ethanol. The effect of Macmoondongtang in rat exposed to cigarette smoke

Cigarette smoking is the risk factor of Lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and ischemic heart disease. So I have studied the effect of Macmoondongtang in rat exposed to cigarette smoke. Thirty-six healthy rat subjects were divided into 6 groups - the control group(sample I), the group of administration of Platycodi Radix(sample II). Adenophorae Radix (sample III), Liriopsis Tuber(sample IV), Maximowicziae Fructus(sample V) and Macomoondongtang(sample VI), and expose to smoke a cigarette per day for 12 days. The following are the results of the experimental studies of Macmoondongtang on smoking. 1. On the variation of body weight are stable both the group of administration of Liriopsis Tuber and Macmoondongtang relatively. 2. On decreased percentage of body weight are significant all the group of administration of Platycodi Radix, Adenophorae Fructus and Macmoondongtang. 3. On the of oxygen consumption increase the group of admonistration of Adenophorae Radix, Liriopsis Tuber, Maximowicxiae Fructus and Macmoondongtang. 4. On the ling volume are significant the groups of administration of Adenophorae Radix(p<0.05) and Macmoondongtang(p<0.005). According to the results, Macmoondongtang is effective to harmfulness of smoking.
Antiallergic activity of Solanum lyratum THUNB

The effect of aquous extract of Solanum lyratum
. (Solanaceae) (AE니) on the systemic or local anaphylactic reactions was studied. AE니 potently inhibited compound 40/80-induced anaphylactic shock and immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated passive curaneous anaphylaxis. When AESL was pretreated at concentration ranging from 0.001 to 10.mg/g body weight, the serum histamine levels were reduced in a dose0dependent manner. AESL also siginificantly inhibited compound 48/80-induced histamine releadse from peritoneal mast cells of rats. These results indicate that AESL will be beneficial in treatment of type I allergy-related diseases.

KWAKHYANG(藿香) is one of the oriental medicine that has been habitually used for the treatment of such vomiting, diarrhea, an intestinal convulsion, dyspepsia, a cold, and cranial nervous disturbance. The orgin of Kwakhyang is HERBA AGA ATACHIS, and substitute HERBA POGOST EMONIS, but the efficacy of MeOH extracts and the chemical constituents of essential oils of the two are greatly different.
