Globally approaching to an aging society increased social interest in health and how to sustain active aging during the natural aging process. The aim of this study is to analyze space structure characteristic which focused on the relationship between the housing elements, of senior apartment housing in Korea, Japan and Europe to find out whether appropriate architectural plan has been made for seniors in Korea. And another aim is to analyze difference of senior apartment housing between Korea and Japan to predict future senior apartment housing in Korea.
A Study on the Characteristic Micro-Climate of Wanju Hwaamsa Temple using the Field Measurement and CFD Analysis

There have been carrying many studies to investigate the underlying causes of weathering damage to wood at Buddhist temple buildings, including all their wooden buildings. But the methods of their studies were not carried on the view point of the micro climatic changes such as temperature and humidity, which were the underlying causes of weathering damage. So this study aims to identify the characteristics of air flow inside Hwaamsa Temple site, which is built on a mountain, and whose buildings are different physical levels with their pillars of varying heights. To carry out this study the field measurement of factors (temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction) were measured and their data were analyzed with the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Based on the results of measuring changes data in temperature and humidity as two inside locations and five locations outside of the temple. As the result the inside temperature and humidity in the Geungnakjeon was evenly distributed, whereas that of the outside was unevenly distributed depending on the location. To a great extent, the speed of wind affects humidity. In the case that the Myeongbujeon in the temple were demolished, there has been a 20-30% increase in the wind speed near the Geungnakjeon Such an increase in the wind speed is thought to affect factors such as the wooden material by stabilizing changes in humidity near the temple.
Innovation Method Research for Architectural Design Education with the Creativity Mentoring Program

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the creativity mentoring program adopted for the architectural design studio. This method was based on the instructional scaffolding theory of Vygotsky's concept and several creativity programs such as SCAMPER, storytelling, pictogram, activity diagram, attribute listing, bug listing method are applied for the experiment group. The 37 first and second grade students were tested in two groups. TTCT(Torrance Test for Creative Thinking) and the expert evaluation were applied as a creativity measuring tool for the students. There were statistically significant improvements between the experimental group and the control group. There were 14.72% of improvement for the first-grade students and 5.80% for second-grade students for TTCT. The mentoring program adopted for architectural design studios was effective increasing the creativity among experimental group in every sub-factors of TTCT in comparison with controled group.
Characteristics of Research Designs for inquiring Children's Play Environment and Play Behavior in Residential Neighborhoods - based on Analysis of Recent Causality Studies -

The purpose of this study is to review recent causality studies on relationship between children's play environment and play behavior in residential neighborhoods. Seven key precedent studies in the past ten years have been analyzed to understand their research design structures and procedures: research objectives, research subjects & scope, and research methods. The research findings are as follows. First, complement of research design is required that both qualitative and quantitative methods are connected for examining definitive relationship between children's play environment and play behavior. Second, showing characteristics of children's play behavior, researches for children's play environment are differentiated itself from existing walkability studies of residential neighborhoods. In addition, This study highlights critical issues and methodological commonalities shared among researchers in disciplines of public health, transportation, urban planing, etc. The results of this study provides preliminary foundations and guidelines for future researches of the physical environment concerning children's outdoor play.
An Analytical Study of BREEAM Structure and Assessment Criteria for Healthcare

As the concerns for the environment are gradually prioritized, increasing interests of environment-friendly buildings are drawn. Numerous researches about healthcare buildings have been performed however, they were mainly focused on convenience or healing condition for medical treatments. The hospitals consume energy and generate CO2 as twice as the residential or commercial buildings do. Various green building certification systems are globally arranged. But, it isn't easy to find certification criteria for the green hospital besides the US and UK's ones which are specially designed to evaluate environment-friendly medical buildings. This study investigates the foreign certification criteria and systems for the green healthcare building and finds the possibility to apply them to Korean one. We expect that it will promote more following researches for the substantial green healthcare design.

The visual perception is one of the most important factors in architectural design because the understanding about outside space of human is mostly rely on the visual information from his eyes. So, there are many examples of using this kind of visual perception to create the virtual space and the ornament of architectural design with the limited circumstances in the history of architecture. One of the examples of the deception of visual perception in architectural design is the entasis style of column to provide the psychological stability of the observer. Also, the making of the deeper perception in the shallow space using the perspective principle is the another example of deception design for the observer in architectural design. The making of virtuality in the space and architectural element is one of the design methods in architecture from the ancient age. Nowadays the various technologies support this method to add the further meaning in architectural design such as expansion, variability and de-materialization of space. One example of applying the new technology in the space design is the installing of the wide display device in the wall, floor or ceiling to make the virtual image which provides realistic experience and virtual space perception of the observer. Sometimes the wall which is composed of special devices can be transparent to look through like a pane of glass. Otherwise, it can be opaque to make the independent space from the others. The using of computer graphics and sensors with actuators will create the different meanings of wall, floor and ceiling from the traditional architectural elements. This research has analyzed the virtuality concept in many architectural designs and showed the effects of this design results. The results of this paper will be useful in applying the virtuality factors in the architectural design, ornament and space, which is significant for understanding the tendency of the futuristic architectural space design.
A Survey on the Relative Importance of Career Development Elements in Architecture and Urban Area - Focusing on the Comparison between Education Consumer and Recruiting Agent(Construction Company) -

Recovery in real estate market increases manpower demand. But many job seekers particularly in the 20s seem to be hard to get jobs. It is considered that manpower demand is unbalanced. The purpose of this study is to determine perception difference between the two groups, education consumer and recruiting agent, and analyze the relative importance of career development element. The career development element assessment items through common right people of enterprises and previous studies are grouped in large, medium and small. Then the importance of items is prioritized by AHP analysis based on results of survey to career development element. In addition, perception difference is derived to two groups by comparing average value in T-test analysis. The result shows that recruiting agent is important experience of competition, domestic volunteer activity, domestic internship program, abroad program in non-English-speaking countries, report and presentation, credits and learning a foreign language. Otherwise, education consumers think important award of competition, foreign volunteer activity, foreign internship program, aborad program in English speaking countries, senior project and Chinese. The study is expected that education consumers improve proper career development element with aptitude from the lower grade.
An Analysis of Acceptance Intention of Architecture and Urban Area Convergence Education using Technical Acceptance Model(TAM)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the acceptance intention of education for effective convergence of education trainees using technical acceptance model(TAM) and Structural Equation Modeling Approach(SEM). The order of study was set research model and studies were conducted a study to verify that research model fit. Through previous research, Innovativeness of the respondents, subjective norms of the respondents, the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and the convergence of education also accommodate five factors were derived and it was set according to the TAM seven hypotheses. This study was conducted a survey of the Cyber University Students. The survey was composed of five factors and twenty detail factors. A total of 244 parts of the survey results were derived through. The results of this study is as follows; Education subjective norm, level of Acceptance-intention, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness are identified as affecting. As a result, the Architecture and Urban area convergence education it is important to show the orientation to be useful in a commercial environment. The result is indicating that the need to focus on any part of the Architecture and Urban area convergence educational opportunities.
A Study on the Implementation Method of the Object Classification System and Property Information for Vitalizing Standardized BIM Library

BIM library is a critical part in BIM implementation in design as well as in construction. Current status, however, shows that the companies are struggling even just for setting up the library itself due to the lack of standards. Without proper standards, it makes difficult not only sharing libraries among companies but also implementing BIM work environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the number of current BIM library systems and to propose a strategy of standardization of classification system as well as a sample standard of property information structure. In order to achieve this, current major classification systems that are adopted in building industry of domestic as well as foreign countries were analysed to be applied to BIM library and finally modified to facilitate the need of BIM industry.
A Study on the Architectural Characteristics of the Multi-tenant Medical Office Building in Busan

Although an increasing number of multi-tenant Medical Office Building(MOB) tend to determine street scene of urban center in Busan, there has been scant information of that phenomenon. Therefore, this study explores the architectural characteristics of multi-tenant MOB in terms of locational decision-making and space configuration in Busan. As a result of the research, multi-tenant MOB agglomerates in the vicinity of boulevard in order to induce a number of patients. Indeed, most clinics that can maintain their profitability though their location are located in high rise multi-tenant MOB. Lastly, a lower part of the multi-tenant MOB consists of people enticing facilities such as pharmacy,
and cell phone shop while clinics based on locational decision making accounts for a higher part of the building.
Determining Core Journals in Architecture and Urban Studies using Network Analysis

This study aims to explore core journals in the field of Architecture and Urban Studies (AUS). This study analyzes 537,556 citation data of 2,075 KCI journals using social network analysis approach. First, using a visualization method, 50 journals are selected as an AUS journal. Second, three journals are determined as core journals of each sub-field using a network centrality analysis: Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea - Planning & Design (architecture); Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea - Structure & Construction (architectural engineering); and Journal of the Korea Planners Association (urban studies). These results can be used by researchers, professors, and planners who want to review research trends of AUS. Moreover, Architecture and Urban Research Information Center (AURIC) improves their service boundaries based on the results.
A Study on the Concept of Structure/Skin/Space in the Architecture of Ito Toyo

In the modern architecture represented by Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, structure, skin and space are separated. In contrast with this autonomy and independence of the modern architecture, the concept of 'hollow column' and '
' of Louis Kahn includes space inside of structure, and makes direct relation of structure and space. Ito Toyo, after Sendai mediatheque(2000), begins organicist experiment. This experiment is related to metabolism movement, in which his teacher, Kiyonori Kikutake, has participated, but is differentiated from as this movement as well others contemporary japanese architecture such as Sou Fujimoto and SANAA. This difference and meaning can be found by reading his experiments in the relation of structure/skin/space. In contrast to modern architecture in which structure and skin are autonome each other, in his project structure is not distinguished from skin, and structure disperses in the space. The purpose of this study is to investigate this relation in the history of architecture, and to find the position and the meaning of his recent architectural experiments.

The purpose of this study is to understand the emergence of the site-specific art museum in the late
century in terms of the relations of the art museum to artworks and viewers. We consider three chronological periods: pre-
century, and the post-modern era after 1960s, in which the notions of representational, transcendental, and literal/phenomenal space-times were developed, respectively. In the first two periods, the meaning of an artwork was inherently conveyed by narratives which created illusions but in the last period, the physical presence of an artwork and its temporal extension in the real were emphasized without delivering any narrative. Because the literal/phenomenal artwork focused on the viewer's corporal experience of the artwork and its surrounding, site contexts in an art museum became important. In addition, the viewer was regarded as an individual with tactile senses and personal memories, not as a universal human being having only rational eyes.
A Study on the Characteristics of the Buddhist Rituals Held at the Palaces in the Goryeo Dynasty - Focused on the Historical Records of Goryeosa and Goryeosajeolyo -

This paper is to clarify on the periodic characteristics of Buddhist rituals, relationship with held places and Buddhist rituals, and characteristics and hierarchy of the places, in the Goryeo Dynasty, based on a close study of historical records. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, difference of the held times of Buddhist rituals reflected the periodic characteristics. Secondly, kind or purpose of Buddhist rituals differentiated according its held places. Finally, the kind and purpose of Buddhist rituals provided some clues on the hierarchy and characteristics of the buildings in the palace.
Research about Housing Characteristics and Satisfaction of Residents in Deteriorated High-rise Apartment - Focusing on Daegu city's cases -

This study is research on the residential environments and satisfaction survey of residents in deteriorated high-rise apartment complexes, and the characteristics of residential environments and the satisfaction level on the unit housing and complex environments of residents targeting the first reconstruction project of deteriorated High-rise Apartment houses over 15 floors located in Daegu were analyzed. Through the review of literature and previous studies, the factors for the satisfaction level on the residential environments were drawn, and the survey targeting the residents in the target site was carried out based on the findings. And, in order to analyze factors influencing the satisfaction level of residence in unit housing and complex environment, the frequency analysis on general characteristics of target residents and the satisfaction analysis on the residential environments assessment elements were carried out using SPSS 21.0 program based on the survey data. The satisfaction level of residents on the unit housing varied according to the monthly average income. Higher the indoor plan, residential environment and equipment level, higher the unit apartment satisfaction, and among them, the indoor plan had the highest influence. Also, in case of satisfaction level on the complex environment, there was no difference according to the general characteristics of residents, and this shows that they had the common opinion regarding the satisfaction level on the complex environment. The analysis result on the satisfaction level and influential factors for each residential environment factor in this study could be utilized as the guideline to review the direction of reconstruction project planning which will be promoted in the target site in future.
A Study on Complex Design Strategy According to the Mission of Urban Botanical Garden and Arboretum - Focused on Magok Central Park -

Historically, a botanical garden and an arboretum began at a very practical level in which they were used to grow and cultivate decorative and edible plants, including herbs, sharing their history with that of mankind. That is, a botanical garden and an arboretum, which trace their origin to private space of men, gradually expanded to assume more public characteristics, which were manifested more specifically as facility, space planning and programs that seek education, exhibition, preservation and collection, the primary goals of a botanical garden. In particular, through the examples in the West that boast traditional botanical gardens, their characteristics could be discovered in the direction they seek and the relationship of their planning. The conclusions derived from this study are as follows. First, a complex plan requiring special functions must specify spatial planning based on the facilities and the significance of the plan, which is also based on the spatial and environmental characteristics on the specific location. Second, urban parks that have a role in providing a resting area for citizens in a modern society are usually developed from botanical gardens that were used as private gardens, which were transformed into public spaces. Therefore they are specified as strategies to reinforce the relationship amongst communities, in addition to their original functions of collection, exhibitions, research, education and conservation. Thirdly, they are significant as urban botanical gardens. They put importance on the relationship, healing and relaxation, education, and exhibition in accordance with the characteristics of the location. These characteristics are strengthened by focusing on major construction facilities in addition to gardening space, and embodied through various programs.
A Study on the Actual Condition of Parking Space Use in Apartment Complex - Focused on the Apartment Building Complex of Mid and Small-size Dwelling Unit -

From the time of mass supply of multi-family housing estate where securing of housing stock is more important than living quality, it appears that parking space in the apartment complex has not provided enough, expecially for residents who live in small-size urban dwelling unit. As years go by, automobile oriented society accelerated the chronical parking problem in apartment housing complex even though related parking regulations of multi-family housing strictly enforced. Regarding these problems, city government enforces the first of all parking permit program in Seoul metropolitan area since the introduction of the residential parking permit program in Yongsan-gu. Through this, it manages illegal street parking and achieves a stable parking environment in even low-rise residental area. Even though, it appeared that the previous parking supply law did not seem to solve the basic parking problem generated by high-density housing estate. Therefore, the purpose of this study intends to investigate current parking lot condition of housing estate from the managerial aspect, and to explore the practical implementation of related parking regulations. For this purpose, small-size apartment housing consisted of small-size dwelling units in GangBuk areas of Seoul were selected as typical case. The results was as followings; First, there was a difference between the number of parking section that is written on the building register and the actual number of parking section. The three places of five selected estates indicated inappropriate quantity of parking sections, and two of them had certain level of shortage. Second, it needed to address the safety issues on pedestrian walking paths and caused accessibility problems of blocking the fire lane and parking section for only fire engines under emergency state, which needed to be cleared immediately. Third, as a result of the rates generated by deforcement and poor condition of parking section, the study found that there were 5.91% of illegal parking among total existing parking spaces. Fourth, the study showed that proper managing of deforcement and illegal parking could improve the lack of parking environment nearly 37.26% corresponding to additional needed parking space. Finally, the study contends that proper managing of existing parking space with review on related regulations can be one of practical ways to solve the chronic parking deficiencies rather than providing more parking lot.
Evaluation Methods for Unfamiliar Sense of Space Caused by re-arrangement of Commodity Display in Large Supermarkets

The purpose of this research is to do a correlation analysis between the unfamiliar sense of space caused by re-arrangement of commodity display and the span of shopping residence time in large supermarkets. The quantitative analysis method is used for finding out the existing relationship between the unfamiliar sense of space caused by re-arrangement of goods and the span of shopping residence time in large supermarkets. It is to discover a new commodity layout policy through this evaluation and correlation analysis among the exchange positions of display cabinets in horizontal direction and shopping behaviors and required residence time. The survey results as follows. The unfamiliar sense of space can decide the performance difficulty degree of their shopping plan, the customer's purchase behavior in the large supermarkets the stronger the unfamiliar sense is the more the retention time. Meanwhile, it can mean that the shopping residence time can be controlled or adjusted indirectly by using the different commodity display of commodity display in large supermarkets.
The Usage and Environmental Characteristics Awareness of Open Spaces in Urban Neighborhoods as Women's Daily Life Place

The purpose of this study was to analyze the usage characteristics and environmental features awareness of women with regard to open spaces in an urban neighborhood. The survey for this study was conducted using 265 residents of Gyungsan, consisting of 179 females. For this analysis, the frequencies and means were calculated, and the chi-square test, factor analysis, and analysis of variance were performed. The survey results revealed, first, the preferred open space type and usage characteristics of males and females were obviously different . Females tended to use playgrounds and children's parks with their children, staying for short periods of time. They also wanted to supplement the playgrounds equipment and security facilities. Second, the users of the play grounds and children's parks were usually young women with young children, so they most often visited the places for playing and caring in afternoon. The female users of the neighborhood parks visited with their friends and neighbors at night, and the users of the waterside parks tended to visit them alone to exercise after dinner. Third, although the parks were far away, the females tended to visit them based on the facilities and charming features. These characteristics also influenced how long the female users stayed in the parks.
Exploring Characteristics of Walkable Neighborhood Design Strategies: A Case Study of Recent Trends and Pangyo · Dongtan Areas

This paper explores characteristics of recent design strategies to create a walkable neighborhood which is a major issue in contemporary urban design considerations. The main reason for the current atmosphere is that desires for healthy life has brought about fundamental changes in the way we shape the cities because a growing body of evidence suggests that neighborhood design is related to physical activities such as walking and cycling for transport, which offer surpringsing benefits to our health, the environment and community. Therefore, in this review, case studies in recent years suggested to be a walkable neighborhood are revealed, in order to know their neighborhood design strateges for walkability. Especially, Pangyo and Dongtan areas, the 2nd phase new towns, are selected as representative cases in South Korea which may achieve a certain level of pedestrian-friendly environments. The analysis results are used to understand them in comparison, and it mainly discusses physical features in neighborhood unit such as how major facilities proposed to be relevant to neighborhood walkability are placed and how a street system is comprised of. All in all, this study shows additional evidence about which design methods would be more walkable and contributes to providing bases for the improvements of walkable neighborhood design strategies in the future development.
Development of Calculation Methods for Solar Heat Gain and Lighting Energy by Different Types of Kinetic Facade

To evaluate annual energy performance of Kinetic facade, a double-skin facade where the movable shading devices installed, hourly shading position should be determined with regard to both of its thermal and lighting energy performances. However, it is difficult to calculate solar heat gain and lighting energy requirement for movable shading devices because of their various changes in shading positions. This paper presents calculation methods for hourly solar heat gain and lighting energy requirement for different types of Kinetic facade so that their hourly movements can be applied to the annual energy calculation. Considering shading movements and material properties, 5 major elements(unshaded fraction, exterior solar attenuation coefficient, exposure coefficient, obstruction index, and light transmittance) affecting thermal and lighting energy were derived. Then, calculation methods of solar heat gain and lighting energy were derived reflecting 5 major elements. 26 types of Kinetic facade were derived and categorized by 3 shapes and 8 movement types of shading devices. Lastly, calculation methods of 5 major elements were derived and set for each type of Kinetic facade.
Analysis of Size-resolved Indoor and Outdoor Particle Sources to Indoor Particles in a Child-care Center

The particle is one of the major air pollutants, and many studies have reported that particles may cause the cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Indoor particles have different sources, chemical composition, and biological effects according to particle size. Especially, infants and children who seem to be most vulnerable to the air pollutants spend most times in a Child-care center. Therefore, It is necessary to investigate the particle sources to control indoor particles in a Child-care center. The aim of this study is to identity size-resolved particle sources of indoor and outdoor to indoors in a Child-care center. Indoor and outdoor particle number concentrations were measured simultaneously for five days by using Optical Particle Counter while every indoor activity is documented. The results show that fine particles(
) have a strong relationship with outdoor particle concentration, on the other hand, coarse particles(
) have a strong relationship with indoor source. In other words the major source of indoor fine particles from outdoor and coarse particles from indoor.
A Study on the Analysis of Damage Situation of Building and Awareness of Experts according to the Natural Disaster

The purpose of this study is to identify the difference between vulnerable building-types through case analysis and importance of building-types which is recognized among practicing architects. And it is to establish guidelines for practicing architects and municipal government officials. As a result, damage of buildings has been increasing due to the surprise and intense rainfall, snowfall according to the climate change. By comparison, the practicing architects has low awareness of its importance. The reestablishment of the disaster prevention's standards is necessary to prepare complex disaster such as Snowfall-Gale, Snowfall-Rainfall, Rainfall-Gale. And it should provide a granular natural disaster prevention measures that are consistent with the property of architecture type. It should also enhance awareness of practicing architects about the natural disasters. And Disaster Management Manual deployment is necessary for prevention and management reference in the guidelines.
