Effect of Ironing Temperature on the Removal of Poly Vinyl Alcohol Size
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 13~16
In cotton fabric sizing the domestic material is normally starch finds itself more frequent uses than the PVA size does. In this study we have examined the effects of ironing temperature and washing temperature on the removal of sized PVA by washing and have got following temperature on the removal of sized PVA by washing and have got following results: 1. the removal of PVA is related approximately to the reciprodal of the ironing temperature. 2. the higher the ironing temperature, the lower is the removal of PVA; and if the ironing temperature is higher than
the removal of PVA decreases abruptly even if the washing temperature were still high. 3. The most appropriate washing temperature should be at least
when the ironing is carried out at 10

A Basic Study on the nominal Size for the clothes for 4~6 Year-Old Children in Seoul
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 17~29
This study is to obtain the basic-standard for establishing the nominal size of 4∼6 year-old children's clothes. From the results of the data analysis, we found the following points. 1) Almost all the items with respect to children's age show the significant level (α=0.01 or α=0.05), and it was also shown that boys are bigger than girls. 2) The correlation among all the parts of the body is strong in the case of the stature and the weight. 3) The upper arm girth of children for this study is larger than that of japanese children, and the posterior shoulder width and the crotch to ankle of children for this study are smaller than that of japanese children. 4) In time series change this study shows that the average sizes have increased continuously.
A Study on Making Skirt from the standpoints of Human Engineering
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 31~39
The basic pattern of skirt should be functional in addition to be fit the body. The author paid special attention to the expansion and contraction of the shell which were made the lower trunk and thigh caused by sitting motions. The replicas of the shell were taken by using a gypsum method on 1 female under 4 standardized motions; standing motion, (basic motion), sitting on the chair with flextion 90' at the hip and the knee joints sitting with dropping knees, and sitting with benting legs side wards. Those replicas obtained were developed to the patterns and changes in shape and area of those were measured. Typical displacement and transformation of the shell surface patterns were showed geographycally fig 5-1 to 5-4. mean values of expansion and constriction were obtained by measuring the shell surface on 60 female under the 4 motions. the mean values of it were showed numerically in Table 1-1 to 1-3. The following results were obtained; 1. Vertical constriction of front of the shell were observed near sulcus in guinalis, and vertical extension were near the knees. Horizontal extension were observed near the thighs and the knees. 2. Vertical constrictions of the back of the shell were observed near the knees. It seemed to be influnced the flexion angles of knee points. vertical extension were near gluteus and thighs. Horizontal constriction were small, and horizonlal extension were near gluteus. 3. The high rates of constriction and extension were found near sulcus in guinalis, glutes, and knees. 4. The rates of constriction and extension on the waist line were very low. 5. The highest values of constriction and extension were found in hip and knees.
A Study on the Research Methods in History of Costume
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 41~45
We must identify the forms of dress devised throughout ages, when we wtudy, interpret and analyze the numerous resource material of costume. The study which depends on reference to actual artifacts is necessarily limited. Whereas items of contemporary dress are readily available, much from earlier eras has been destroyed or has deteriorated through time. Such as cottons, linens, silks, wools, leathers and furs are perishable organic materials. Few garments dated earlier than seventeenth century has survived except armor, jewelry. We have many sources of the information are available to study on costume of earlier eras. These sources are wall paintings, sculptures, painting, monumental brasses, manuscript illustration ceramics, coins, medals, mosaics, archives, literature. Wall painting and frescoes provided an useful source for costume study. Many wall paintings and frescoes were destroyed, were changed in color. It si advisable to interpret the dress detail, form color carefully. Sculpture would be useful to see the back and side views of dress. One of the most important points which should be made abut the use of sculpture as a source for costume study in early periods is that the sculptor's style will often change the character of a costume. As the painting si two-dimensional evidence for a three-dimensional costume, paintings must be accurately studied. What we must do, as far as we can, is to look at all visual representations in the light of other contemporary evidence in order to interpret the information correctly.
Actual Status of Home Economic Education in secondary Schools and Teacher's Perception on their Life
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 47~63

A Study on The consumption Pattern of Urban Salary and Wage Earners' Household in Korean from 1970 to 1978
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 65~73
The purpose of this study is ti find out a desirable way to stability and improvement of household economy by studying the changes of consumption level and consumption pattern of urban salary and wage earners' households during the years from 1970 to 1978. For this study, "Annual Report on the Family Income and Expenditure survey" (Published by the Bureau of Statistics, Economics Planning Board) has been used as basic material, and the methods of analysis used here are the time series analysis. We have gained the results as follows: 1) From 1970 to 198, the total income level increased at the rate of 416.2% in nominal price, but only 74.4% in reql price, while the total expenditure level showed 338.5% increase in nominal price, but its real increased proved only 418.2% in consideration of inflation. APC decreased from 95.1%(in 1970) to 80.7%(in 1978). 2) As for the expenditure pattern for the above mentioned nine years, the rate of food expenditure increased until 1975 under the price influence, but it trended to decease there after on . The rate of housing expenditure showed a gradual increase while that of fuel and light expenditure was on the decrease. The rate of clothing expenditure had been on the decease until 1974 but it began to increase gradually thereafter on. The trend of miscellaneous expenditures was irregularly up and down, educational expences being the first rank among them, Non-living expenditure had been constant until 1974 but it decreased a little after that. From the results it was found that the consumption level of the salary and wage earners' household in all cities from 1970 to 1978 was not practically improved because of rise in prices, nor was the Engel's coefficient and the rate of miscellaneous expenditure changed distinctively. However, as the successive decrease of APC suggests the possibility of economic development, we must try to put stress on economy in consumption and on encouraging. This will help run our household economy in safety and stability.
A Study on Manufacture's Marketing for Consumer Protection
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 75~85
The consumer affair is one of the rapidly evolving problems in the process of recent economic growth. As the society and its economy changes, the nature and the scope of the consumer affairs also changes. while the main concept of the consumer affaires originated from the market mechanism, it is now expanding beyond the market mechanism to include everyday lives of consumers. In solving the problems which arise form the status difference between the manufacturer and the consumer the manufacturer's action is no less important the consumer's self-improvement of its status. The manufactures with the purpose of getting maximum profits from the consumers are conducting the consumer oriented managerial marketing, but this sis done form the manufacturer's point of view with the consumer's position being neglected. It is the purpose of this paper to investigate the nature and direction of the marketing from the consumer's position being neglected. It is the purpose of this paper to investigate the nature and direction of the marketing from the consumer's point of view. For this study a couple of pre-investigations were done. First, I surveyed the changing consumers with economic growth the developing process of marketing, and the cause and characteristics of the today's consumer affaires. Second, I studied the concept change of the modern marketing, and the concept of the consumerism which was materialized by this concept change. I further studied, with the consumer's point of view, the socioecological marketing which is based on the consumerism. The conclusion of this investigation is that the manufacturers should convert the in humanized marketing to the more human and environment conscious socioecological marketing because the consumer affairs which arise from the mass consumption of the modern days are expanding to include everyday's problems. This conversion naturally should be based on the human concept based consumerism. To be more effective, the manufactures should assume more social responsibilities and conduct the socioecological marketing voluntarily and willingly.
Freshness Changes during Iced and Partial Freezing Storage of Sashimi
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 87~94
This study was carried out to make a comparison between iced and partial freezing of bastard, yellow tail, poragy, pomfret that were generally used for Sashimi and the results that measured k-value, VB-N, TMA-N were measured and the results are as follows : 1. Regardless of the kinds of fish, freshness is better preserved in partial freezing than in iced storage. 2. In Bastard, Yellow tail When iced its freshness estimation index its K-value rose above 20% after 4 days of storage. When stored partially frozen, its K-value reached 20% after 8 days. 3. Porgy when iced, its K-value reach 20% after 6 days of storage. But when stored partially frozen, its K-value could be prolonged until 9 days with same degree. Porge was preserved for the longest time among the four fishes. 4. Pomfret When iced during 4 days and stored partially frozen during 6 days, their K-value reached about 20% Pomfret was preserved for the shortest time among the four fishes. 5. According to the kinds of fish, the results that measured VB-N, TMA-N, total bacteria have some differences, but the method of partial freezing was superior to iced storage.
Effect of the Level of Ginseng Powder in Diet on Growth Rate and Blood Glucose Concentration in Rat
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 95~101
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the diet supplemented with various amounts of ginseng powder on the growth rate and blood glucose level in rat. Male Albino rats, weighing between 90 to 100g, were divided into 5 diet groups of 6 rats each. experimental diets contained 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8% ginseng powder which was substituted for rice powder and were designated C, G-2, G-4, G-6 and G-8, respectively. The diets were fed for 3 weeks. Throughout feeding period, feed consumption, body weight, feed and protein efficiency ratios were measured, organ weights and blood glucose level were determined at the end of the experimental period. the results are summarized as follows. 1. rats in G-2 group consumed the highest amount of diet among all groups. 2. Body weight gain was significantly higher in G-2 and G-4 than in other groups. 3. Feed and protein efficiency ratios were a little higher in G-4 than in control group. And those of group G-8 were the lowest among those of other groups. 4. The weight of liver was significantly lower I G-4 than in control group. The weight of kidney was significantly lower I G-4 and G-8 than in control group. The weight of heart was significantly lower I G-4 and G-8 than in control group. While, the weight of spleen was greater in ginseng powder diet than in control group. 5. Supplementing ginseng powder in diet resulted in deceased nitrogen in liver. 6. Blood glucose was decreased with increased level of ginseng powder diet.
The Effect of Dietary Sucrose on the Lipid Metabolism of Rat Fed by Low Protein Diet
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 18, issue 4, 1980, Pages 103~107
This study was conducted to compare the effect of dietary sucrose and starch on the lipid metabolism of Rat fed by low protein diet for 3 and 6 weeks periods. Forty male weanling Spargue-Dawley rats weighing 52.7 grams each, after being adopted for 2 days with standard diet, were blocked into 8 groups and fed experimental diet as designed. Experimental diet were composed of two different levels of proteins, 6% designed as low protein diet and 15% designed as standard protein diet. In each group, the content of serum lipid, serum cholesterol and liver lipid were measured. The results of this experiment were summerized as follows. 1. liver lipid content was tended to be high in the sucrose group of low protein fed animal. 2. the content of total serum lipid was tended to be high in the sucrose group, and this tendency was showed statistical significance in the animals fed by low and standard protein after 6 weeks of experimental period. 3. The difference in the total serum cholesterol content between the sucrose and starch group was not significant
