A survey on the clothing consumption activity and the home background
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 2, 1987, Pages 1~11
The purpose of the study is to researdch clothing consumer behavior of men and women over age of 20 years and to find out the reasonable maximum utility on clothing behavior. The factors are eight distinguished parts such as sex, age, monthly income, occupation, floor space, number of room, number of family and place of residence. A common questionaire is introduced to survey the clothing consumption activity and the home background. Sources to measure them are gathered in the whole country including major cities. The questionaire of 915 correspondents of 368 males and 547 females is investigated for this research. Some of the data are analyzed by correlation, frequency, percentage, mean, and S.D. Others are investigated by ANOVA Test, x2-Test, and Multiple Range Test. The results from the survey are as followings: 1. Only four factors such as sex, monthly income, occupation, and floor space have a significance in the clothing consumption activity. 2. This survey reveals that many cloths have been kept in dead storage and concerns of utility have risen high. 3. This survey has shown that the correspondents have deep concerns about using colthing exchange store, clothing lending store, and trunk room to utilize dead storage clothing efficiently.
A Study of Pattern Making of Jeugo-ris by Computer
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 2, 1987, Pages 13~23
The present study is undertaken to utilize the computer in pattern making of Jeugo-ris for women. The results are as follow: 1. Basic points which can be connected to depict basic pattern are represented with the numerical expreession and the curved lines consist of three types of arc. 2. The patterns of Jeugo-ris were automatically depicted by inputting the standard size(large, medium and small) and body measurements for bodice(bust girth, center back length, sleeve length). 3. This program includes the function of expressing the specific parts of patterns and of extending the patterns with or without standard lines.
A Series of Studies on Trouser Forms(I)
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 2, 1987, Pages 25~30
Pants are one of the most complicated clothing items in the sense that they cover the most active part of human body. The technical and conceptual treatment of the required ease in the crotch area shows interesting variations throughout the global folk costumes. This study here, as an attempt to find out any standard or a good frame of reference to be used to describe the characteristic features of our pants, and/or to compare out pants with nearby folk costumes, presented some of the Korean scholars' views toward our pants forms, and also introduced Hansen's classification of pants types. Several questions, concerned with the developmental process of a few types of Korean pants, its classification amongst pants of the world, and its similarities and differences in contrast with those of nearby Asian countries are proposed as new problems to be challenged.
A Study on the Water Absorption Velocity of Sized Fabrics
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 2, 1987, Pages 31~38
This paper aims to examine the velocity of water absorption of cotton, hemp, and T/C fabrics sized by rice, wheat, potato, corn flour and pp.V.A.. Experimental variables such as the concentration of sizing agents, the moisture regain of unsized fabrics and the ironing temperature showed the following results. 1. When the fabrics were sized, the velocity of water absorption increased according to the order of corn, rice, potato, wheat flour and pp.V.A. for cotton fabrics, of corn, potato, rice, wheat flour and pp.V.A. for hemp fabrics, and of corn, wheat, rice, potato flour and pp.V.A. for T/C fabrics; corn flour showed the highest velocity of water absorption and pp.V.A. did the lowest among all the others mentioned above. 2. The higher fabric density, the higher velocity of water absorption. The finer the count of fabric yarn, the higher velocity of water absorption. 3. The material of sized fabrics most affected the velocity of water absorption than other factors of those. 4. To a certain extent, the higher the concentration of sizing agent, the higher the velocity of water absorption. 5. The fabrics with moisture regain of 20% before sizing showed the highest velocity of water absorption. 6. The ironing temperature after sizing fabrics mentioned below showed the highest velocity of water absorption; 180
for cotton, 200
for hemp, and 160
for T/C fabrics.
A Study on the Clothing Appropriateness for the Role Behavior af Achieving a Successful Learning and Teaching Efficiency
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 2, 1987, Pages 39~54
One's Clothing Satisfaction, has a great influence on his role behavior in a society. Especially, as for the teacher's and the professors whose role is teaching, it can not be too emphaszed. Above all, high school girls and college women are the most likely to be influenced by their teachers' clothing behavior, to whom they pay their respect in every way. From this point of view, this study was aimed at explaining, the correlation between the teachers/professors' clothing behaviors and the learning efficiency. On clothing behaviors assessed 30 items related with the learning efficiency, selected from the instruments of preceding studies, and modified by the factors dealing with modesty, color, and design. The questionnaires were composed of two major categories: those for students and for teachers/progessors. The subjects of this study were included students and teachers/professors of high school and universities in Seoul. The data were analyzed statically by mean, standard Deviation, and F-test. The results of this study were summerized as follows; 1. The clothing behaviors of the teachers/professors influenced on the learning efficiency. Namely teachers' clothing satisfaction is in direct proportion to them teaching efficiency and students' learning efficiency. 2. Among the clothing behavior variables, modesty had a great influence on the learning efficiency, especially as for that of teachers more than professors. 3. The influence of the teachers'/professors' clothing behaviors on the learning efficiency showed no significance between high school girls and college women, but some significance between the grades of collegians. 4. As for the teachers'/professors' clothing behavior, male teachers/professors gave priority to design and female teachers/professors to modesty, color showed no significance between them irrespective of age. 5. As for the clothing behavior variabels, both the teachers/professors and the students showed some significance. In class the teachers/professors highly responded to their own clothing behaviors than the students. 6. According to priority the most favorable clothing colors for male teachers/professors are navy blue, gray, indigo blue, and black, and the most disgusting ones red, mud yellow, violet, pink, and green. The most favorable clothing colors for female teachers/professors are beign, white, pale yellow, and black, and the most disgusting ones red, mud yellow, and yellow and yellow according to priority. It is that teachers/professors should wear modestly and in color harmony to invite the desirable students' will to study. Teachers'/professors' colorful appearance and heavy toilet bring about a drop in the students' will to study.
