The Deterioration of Cotton Fiber Caused by Aspergillus niger and A.fumigatus
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 1~8
The effects of Aspergillus niger H-18(AN) and A.fumigatus E-29(AF) on the deterioration of test materials were examined. 1. When the fungi were inoculated to the cotton fibers placed on Czapeck agar, malt extract agar, and potato agar, they grew best on potato agar which in that context was chosen as a basal medium for deterioration studies. The tensile strength of ontton fiber on which AN was grown for 30 days decreased by 33.9% with a concommitant increase in elongation by 43.1%. 2. Cotton fabric lost the weight by 1.35%, when inoculated with AN while it lost the weight by 0.86% when inoculated with AF. 3. When AN and AF were inoculated separately on cotton fibers, tensile strength decreased by 52.8% and 43.3%, respectively, with concommitant increases in elongation by 34.2% and 29.4%, respectively. 4. The cotton was damaged more severely by AN than AF, when they were observed by scanning electron microscope.
A Study on Polyester Fabric treated with Quarternary Ammonium Salt and Alkali
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 9~18
This study is conducted to investigate the influence of addition of quarternary ammonium salt(cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide: CTAB) when polyester(PET) fabric is treated with sodium hydroxide(NaOH), depending on experimental variables such as CTAB concentration, NaOH concentration, time & temperature, and the change in physical & chemical properties of alkaline-hydrolyzed PET fabrics depending on their weight loss. The results are as follows: 1. By adding CTAB in aqueous NaOH, the weight loss of PET fabric is increased remarkably and until the concentration of CTAB is reached at its cmc, and the higher the concentration of CTAB are, the more weight loss on PET fibrics are. 2. The addition of CTAB in aqueous NaOH is most effective at lower NaON concentration(2%) among various NaOH concentration, on increasing the amount of weight loss, while there are almost similar results through various treatment time and temperature. 3. As the amount of weight of weight loss on PET fabric is increased, the increase of void space in the PET yarn, of softness & dyeability of PET fabric and the decrease of tensile strength are found. On the other hand, the moisture regain shows a little increase by alkaline-hydrolysis on PET fabric while vertical absorption test & water retention value are not sufficiently sensitive to distinguish between the hydrophillicity of untreated and treated PET fabric. The shrinkage of PET fabric is induced by swelling in hot aqueous NaOH regardless of NaOH concentration & addition of CTAB.
A Study on the Taekwondo Uniform
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 19~32
The purpose of this study was to provide basis data for the pattern and material development of the Taekondo uniform by investigating the Taekwondo uniform wearing status of 260 Taekwondo players. The results can be summarized as follows: 1. In the current material of Taekwondo uniform, the problem of physiological comfort was generally dissatisfied in all subjects. And this unsatisfactory trend was founded higher in female player. 2. In the problem of the body fitness of Taekwondo unifrom, the unifitness of upper and lower clothes was founded higher in female player. And both of male and female player represented unfitness more high in lower clothes. So the current size of Taekwondo uniform, especially the size of lower clothes had its problem. 3. The problem of the sports function, the body fitness and easiness of wearing of Taekwondo uniform was generally founded uncomfortable in all subjects. But especially female player, fat type player was founded higher in the phase of discomfort. And accoring to the method of gaining clothes, the case of the slop was founded the highest.
A Study on Develop An Instrument to Measure the Criteria on Clothing Selection
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 33~45
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factorial structure of the criteria on clothing selection of the working women, and then to provide the date to develop an instrument to measure the criteria on clothing selection. A total of 877 samples were selected from unmarried female in the twenties. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, Pearson's product-mement correlation coefficients, content analysis and Cronbach's α. The results of the study were as follows; 1. There were identified 7 factors as the clothing selection criteria of the working women; Fashion, Practicality, Modesty, Appearance, Service, Comfort, and Impulse purchase. 2. Comparing with the previous results, we confirmed that the criteria on clothing selection was made up of at least 8 factors; Practicality, Comfort, Brand or price, Impulse purchase, Fashion, Individuality, Modesty, and Service. 3. According to the correlation among 8 factors, they formed two clusters; one cluster contained Practicality, Comfort, and Modesty factor, and the other did Brand or price, Impulse purchase, Fashion and Individuality factor. 4. Service factor was significantly correlated to the other factors, that is, service was the very important criteria on the clothing selection.
Studies on the Lipid Components of Edible Shellfishes in Korea
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 47~55
This study was designed to elucidate the lipid contents, neutral lipids components and fatty acid composition in fresh shellfishes, produced in Korea. Four kinds of shellfishes including sea mussel, short-necked clam, corb shell and and ark shell were selected according to the higher sales order and cheaper retail price at fish markets in Seoul in July 1985. The results abtained were as follows; 1. The average total lipid contents in four shellfishes were 2.3% by wet weight basis. The ratios of neutrial lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid in the total lipid were 51.1 : 4.9 : 44.0 in sea mussel, 66.0 : 3.2 : 30.8 in ark shell, 37.8 : 2.2 : 60.0 in short-necked clam and 54.5 : 2.0 : 53.5 in corb shell, 2. The average value of acid value, iodine value and unsaponifiables contents of total lipids were 1.3, 217.8, 92.0 and 20.3%, respectively. 3. The composition of the neutral lipids were triglycerides, esterified fatty acids, sterylesters, free sterols and monoglycerides in four shellfishes. 4. The major fatty acid composition of total lipids were palmitic, eicosapentaenoic, docosahexaenoic and palmitoleic acids in four shellfishes. The average total unsaturated fatty acids of total lipid were 64.5%, and
-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids were 27.0%. The average p/s Ratiio were 1.3.
Change of Total Bacteria, Lactic bacteria and Textural Parameters during Kimchi Preservation

A Study on the method of child instruction in "Sa So Jeol"
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 25, issue 4, 1987, Pages 141~152
The book of Sa So Jeol is about the moral training family precepts written by Yi Deok-mu (이덕무, 1739~1793) in the year of king Young Jo 51th in the Yi dynasty. The writer provides us, according to the views of Confucianists, with the principles that both elders and children of that time should abide by in the daily life, dividing the said books into 924 sections, 8 chapters, and 2 volumes. The parts concerned with children are studied in this essay. The brief conclusions are as follows. 1. Children were required to have the mental attitudes of honesty, patience, tolerance and frugality and were instructed to show such attitudes through their behavior. 2. Children were instructed to have the behavioral attitudes of nine aspects, which are the behavioral characteristics of the sages. They were instructed to emulate the personal characters of the sages through being possessed of these nine aspects, which are to be found in healthy and comfortable mental states. 3. Children were instructed to be careful and composed, in their activities. Since prudence is the basic principle of mental and behavioral attitudes, being required of men and women of all ages in a traditional society, it was emphasized from early childhood 4. The aim of instruction was taken to be becoming human, or becoming a virtuous man, rather than merely passing the classical government examamination, and for this aim the moral rules, which can be considered the order of human relations, were taught intensively. 5. As for instructional methods, the children were required to do careful or rough reading according to their abilities, and were instructed to listen to lectures politely, prudently, ardently and honestly. 6. The instructional contents are for the purpose of making children read the classical canons after increasing their perceptive ability in the various things of the sexagenary cycle, the multipicative method, the kings, lineage, and the reign-titles, and the accumulated knowledge of
Kyung Mong Yo Kyul
Seong Hak Jeop Yo
Keun Sa Lok
. Because of the greater emphasis on natural talents rather than on acquired abilities, the children, however, were eudcated only after their despositions were examined. 7. The children were required to have warm-hearted, careful, polite, and prudent attitudes toward their elders, and were instructed to take precauticns against arrogance and impoliteness. Since politeness in particular was considered not only as the ground of decorum but the method of emotional regulation and maintaining composure for confucianists, it can be regarded as the principal ettiquettee demanded in all activities. 8. The main instructional contents are generally moral aspects, concentrating on introspection and virtuous conduct through emotional regulations, rather than on the natural expression of physical and mental states.
