This stydy is to find reorganizning clue for oun decolorrizning domestic norm education trachg from chosun Dynasty. The study examinecl recent reseanch for the necess and problems of family norm education and analyized contents and traits of family education dunny chosun dynasty appeared in documents. The results: countesy is practiced in the field of eating clothing language greetrings and manners emphasized on respecting others and orders should be kept by acknowledging living rules. This family education in traditional society is also meaningful in modern sense, so we habe to follow the suit on the tradition.
The Benefit and Cost of Full-Time Housewife Occupation

The value of housewife occupation is likely to be underestimated because of its invisibility and myth. This study was performed to investigate social meaning of housewife occupation in the modern society using concept of psychological benefit and cost of full-time housewife. Subjectively even if housewife occupation was perceived as benefit in some aspects full-time housewife was not considered as favorable status but as costly one compared to employed housewife. The perceptions of benefit and cost of housewife occupation were different from some characteristics of housewife and related to the content of works. Finally the estimation of housewife occupation was more influenced by psychological variables rather than conditions and situations of housewife. these results suggested that psychological meaning of housewife occupation is important to understand issues related to the housewife.
The Economic Well-Being of Retired Households in the United States

The purpose of the study was to examine the economic well-being of households whose heads were retired in 1989 utilizing the combined income and net worth measyre of economic well-being which was adjusted for households size and composition. The data came from the 1989 Survey of Consumer Finances. The results showed that (1) the economic well-being of retired households was 87% of the average economic well-being of total households in the United States (2) there were considerable differences in the economic well-being among retired households and (3)race, sex, age of head had significant direct and/or indirect effects on the economic well-being of retired households. Education and income of longest job were significant intervening variables whereas the duration of longest job was not. On the basis of the results implications for public policy and future research were made.
Review of Elder Abuse

This paper reports about possibility of the elder abuse as a third vulnerable population among family violence in Korea. Although the study of against the elderly has not been reported in our society the need for information about the nature of elder abuse is clear with social change. There will be profound changes in our culture which in recent decades has been largerly dominated in our family. This paper will be explained some theoretical perspectives; Social learning theory Symbolic interaction theory, Exchange theory and factors related to the occurrence of elder abuse; 1) personal characteristics of the abuser and the abused 2)interpersonal characteristics of the relationship between the abuser and the elderly person 3) situational factors that increase the likelihood of abuse 4) socio-cultural factors that impinge on the use of violence. According to them the patterns and other predictions of elder abuse will be pointed.
A Study on the Married Daughters' Caregiving Strss and the Influential Variables

The purpose of this research was to study the variables related to the stress and to provide the way of establishing better relationship between aged parents and adult offsprings and the way of effective care-giving. In order to achieve this purpose a survey was conducted by interview using questionaire. The collected data were analyzed by using frequency percentage mean standard deviation factor analysis Pearson's correlation analysis, ANOVA, and stepwise regression analysis. The results of this research were as follows: First The total points of daughter-in-laws' caregicing stress was 38.5 and daughter's caregiving stress was 27.3. Second There were meaningful differences according to living arrangement daughters-in-law age, old mothers' health status. And there were significant. interaction effects among variables of living arrangement and daughters-in-law' age, living arrangement and birth order birth order and old mothers' health status. living arrangement and daughters-in-law' age and old mothers' health status. Third There were meaningful differences according to living arrangement daughter's age. And there were significant interaction effects among variables of living arrangement and daughter's age, daughter's age and birth order, living arrangement and daughter's age and old mothers' health status, living arrangement and birth order and old mothers' health status. Fourth Among daughters-in-law' variables living arrangement age, old mothers' health status have influence on the care-giving stress. Among daughter's variables living arrangement, age, birth order have influence on the care-giving stress.
Typology of men's perceived costs and benefits about the transition to parenthood

This study tries to develop the typology of relative costs-benefits perception about the transition to parenthood and explore the group differences in the socio-demographic variables, family context variables, and social support level. For these purpose data was gathered from 342 fathers who experienced the transition to parenthood within past three years. The major findings were as follow. 1. The level of men's perceived benefits about the transition to parenthood was higher than the level of costs. 2. The Effects on the Family Relations Caused by AIDS

Today the occurrence and world-wide transfusion of the AIDS has brought about new problems related to family relations. The AIDS is more threatening than any other disease because of the special processes of infection trough sex and intravenous injections high care cost and terminal death. The AIDS causes conflicts among family members economic destitution and family dissolution. In the U.S Marriage without noticing of the AIDS may lead to divorce like injuries abandonment and misfeasance during marriage. But the AIDS victims should not be rejected from the rights of parental decision divorce beneficiaries and visiting rights. More discussion is needed about such issues as the pregnancy rights rongful birth action and selective nontreatment by doctors. The AIDS may influence the every party involved and interdisplinary studies should be required to solve the problem including family science laws psychology sociology and medical research as well.
A Study on the Family Recognition and Distress of Dual-Earner Families

The purpose of the stud is to present an model of the distress process for dual-earner couples. For the data set 340 husbands and wives in dual-earner families living in Pusan were chosen. The questionnaire was composed of Family Stressor Scale Family Resources Scale, Distress Scale. The data were analyzed with the SPSS statistical pacakage using t-test the one-rather than husband. And cothestion, adaptability and the level of stress recognition are important factors affecting the level of physical and psychological distress directly.
The effect of couple's differentiation of self and family-of-origin emotional health on marital stability

The purpose of this study was to investigate marital stability as a function of the couple's patterns of differentiation of self and family-of-origin emotional health. The subjects were 229 couples who have been married for 10 years or less living in Seoul and whose father or mother is still alive. The main results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. The couples which both husband and wife have high differentiation of self showed the highest marital satisfaction and marital stability. On the other hand, the couples which both husband and wife have low differentiation of self reported the lowest marital satisfaction and marital stability. 2. A Study on the Actual Condition of Day Care Type among the Employed Mothers of Urban Area

The purpose of this study is to get the data on the day-care type of the employed mothers in urban area and to make it improve the day care service program. I classified day care type into four classes accoding to existing one. And we surveyed 401 employed mothers with the child under age of six who lived at Seoul. the major results were as follows; 1) Most of employed mothers felt the burden of day care expenses and payed it of their own earning 2) The common type of day care is 'by family' and the users of this type more satisfied with the condition than any other types. 3) the difficulty of day care is that can't apply the tool and materials sufficiently, except day care center, 4) The reason that they use day care center or not is thier family. 5) Accoding to child age, family composition, educational level, job, income level, employed mothers choose day care type differently. So I suggest the social support for the employed mothers.
A Study on Childrearing in Koryo Dynasty

The Purpose of this study is to explore the conceptions and the practices about childreariong in the Koryo Dynasty(918-1392 A, D). The method used for this study is the historical method and the literatures of analysis are the Koryo Dynasty History. According to the results the conceptions of childhood in its boundary were that the point at which childhood ended was the age of 15, which was sud-devided into three of different periods. And the conceptions of childhood in its nature and its ideal traits were that child's ability was determinated innately and intellectual features and mutual understanding of others were emphasized as its ideal traits. Also the practices of childrearing in Koryo Dynasty were that a child was carried on adult's back, and that parents prayed for giving birth to their child and finally that the role expectation toward childrearing was affectionate caring. Moreover there were the child welfare work and the educational system in Koryo Dynasty. Through this study, we can have access to the understanding about cultural transmission process of childrearing in Korea.
The consciousness of children's room of the mothers with elementary school children and university students

This study were planned with the purposes to make clear the mother's understanding of children's room and to offer the basic data for the guidance and the effective preparation of children's room of the mothers with elementary school children and university students. The subjects were 212 4th-6th grade elementary school children and 188 universty students living in Taege. The data were collected by questionnare methods and analyzed through SPSS PC program. The major findings of this research are as follow: 1. The greater part of mothers recognized that the children's room is necessarily needed to children. 66%(69%) among all subjects perceived that the adequate period of sleeping separation from their parents is before the entrance of elementary school.
The Relationship between Attachment to mother of Kindergarten Children and their mothers' Parenting Behavior and their Cognitive Development

The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship of attachment to their mother of kindergarten children and their mother's parenting behavior and their cognitive development. The subjects were 32 children and their mothers who participated in Hong's study (1993) The instruments were Mother's Child Rearing Questionaire revised by this researcher and Kim's IQ test. The results showed partial significant correlation between mother's parenting behavior and their children's attachment to them. Children's attachment to their mothers has significant correlation to their cognitive development.
The Analysis of the Causal Model of Children's Self-Perceived Competence and Related Variables

This study investigated the causality of the children's self-perceived competence and related variables(age, sex, socio-demographic variables, family structure, the number of brother, home environmental process variables and peer group environmental variables.) The subjects of this study were 842 children at age five, seven, nine, eleven and thirteen attending kindergartens. elementary schools and junior high schools and their mothers in Seoul. This study employed children's self-perceived competence scales(The Pictorial scales for 5, 7, Qestionnaire for 9, 11, 13) home environment scales and peer group enviornment scales(the Pictorial scales for 5, 7 Qestionnaire for 9, 11, 13) Freqencies one way-ANOVA Pearson's Cronbach's αmultiple regression and path analysis were used for data-analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1. The results of the analysis of causal model showed that the variables that affected cognitive self-perceived competence directly were age, sex, parent's education economic status of the home the number of brother and peer's emotional support 2. The results of the analysis of causal model showed that the variables that affected social self-perceived competence directly were sex, economic status of the home, peer's emotional support and common activity. 3. The results of the analysis of causal model showed that the variables that affected physical self-perceived competence directly were age, sex, peer's emotional support and common activity.
A Study on Nutrient Intake of College Students

The purpose of this survey was to investigate the nutrient intake of college students. This survey was carried out through questionnaires, and the subjects were 498 male and 151 female students at Inha University. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Average height of male and female students were 173.0cm, 160.5cm and the average weight of those were 64.5kg, 49.7kg respectively. 2) Most nutrients were intaken properly but some were under % of RDA. For the male students, the average intake of calorie(91.5%) vitamin A(55.9%) vitamin B1(96.8%) vitamin B2(88.0%) and Ca(96.5%) were lower than RDA. For the female students the average intake of calorie(94.1%) vitamin A(64.6%) Ca(90.3%) and Fe(71.0%) were lower than RDA. 3) The ratio of percent calorie of carbohydrate : protein :fat from total calories in male was 60:16:24 and that of female was 60:17:23 The percent calorie of carbohydrate from total calorie was decreased and taht of fat from total calories was increased compared to the results of previous study.
Apparel Store Patronage Behavior on Types of stores and Information Sources

The purpose of the study were to examine the causal relationships of apparel store patronage behavior on types of stores and information sources and to investigate which variables significantly apparel store patronage behavior. Data were randomly obtained from 433 housewives living in Pusan. A self-administered limiting apparel usage situations to the couples party was developed based on previous researches. They were analyzed by Fator analysis and Path analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The apparel store patronage behavior of housewives was followed the process of life styleslongrightarrowinformation sourceslongrightarrowshopping orientationslongrightarrowstore imageslongrightarrowpatronage behavior, and in apparel store patronage behavior according to the types of information sources mass media information, interpersonal information, and store information. 3. There were differences in causal relationships of patronage behavior on apparel store types.
A Study on Psychological Function of Mourning Ceremonial Dresses in Confucianism

The purpose of this study is to consider psycological funtions of mourning dresses in Confucianism. By each step of A.V.Gennep's passage rites, the result of this thesis summarised as follow; In the first Seperation rites after calling the death' name three times the relatives for whom mourning is due become dishevelled hair bare feet and bare shoulder etc. In the second Transition rites, bereaved familly has worn 5 class mourning dresses in deep grief. In the third Cooperation rites, gradually the living familly goes through three year stages of changing mourning dresses to ordinary colthes. In Confucian funeral ceremony the deviation of clothing behavior in each mourning step sublimates bereaved person's sorrow into their internal security.
An Analysis of Lifestyle Patterns of the Socioeconomic Status in Seoul Resident

The purpose of this study was to categorize lifestyle patterns and to define the characteristics of the lifestyle of middle class residents in Seoul. Questionnaires were administered to 1572 homemakers in Seoul. Statistics with the SPSS software package for factor analysis and F-test was used. The results showed that the type of car which the residents owned was a major indicator to classify SEC(Socio Economic Class). The middle class was categorized into four groups which were relevant classifications based on determining indicators obtained from previous studies: the lower middle class which owned a Tico was classified into the Economy Concerned Lifestyle category the middle class which owned an Elantra was classified into the Health Concerned and Hobby Oriented Lifestyle category the upper middle calss which owned a Sonata was classified into the Interior Design and fashion Oriented Lifestyle category and the lower upper class which owned a Grandeur was classified into the Hobby and Fashion oriented Lifestyle category.
