Environmental Consciousness and Disposal Behavior of Home Consumption Goods

The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to housewives' environmental concern and environmental management behavior. Data were collected from questionaire with 786 housewives who live in Jeonbuk area. The results could be summarized as follows. The level of environmental concern was relatively high and differed significantly according to the level of innovation, residence, the level of education, and age of wives. But the level of environmental management behavior was relatively low, especially clothing disposal behavior and buying something to eat. These findings pointed that the program of environmental education should be more pragmatic.
Single Mothers' Stress and Psychological Well-being

The purposes of this article were to find the general trends of single mothers' stressor, self-esteem, family resources, coping, stress and psychological well-being, and to test a causal model of family resources, coping and stress influencing on psychological well-being. The data were analyzed from the 283 single mothers living in Kwang-ju. The major findings were as follows; 1. Scores of single mothers' stress, family resources were lower than median. But scores of single mothers' stressor, self-esteem, coping, life satisfaction and depression were higher than median. Their problem-focused coping scores were higher than emotion-focused coping. 2. Single mothers' life satisfaction were directly affected by self-esteem, family resources, problem-focused coping and stress, and were indirectly affected by stressor, emotion-focused coping. Single mothers' depression were directly influenced by self-esteem, family resources, emotion-focused coping, problem-focused coping and stress, and were indirectly influenced by stressor.
A survey on space feature of day care center in Taegu city

The purpose of this study was to investigate the space feature of day care center in Taegu city. This study was conducted by means of the observation on the equipments, the actual measurement of space of day care center and environment, and the questionnaire survey by the chief of day care center. The samples for analysis were 20 day care center located in Taegu city. The Major findings were as follows; 1) The chief's satisfaction of the facilities of day care center was generally low. 2) The door design, the lighting conditions, and the toilet need to be improved. 3) According to observation on the equipment, it was suggested that the environment of day care center was not desireable.
The effects of personal and environmental factors on adolescent' self-esteem

The effects of personal(gender, physical growth) and environmental(communication with parent, intimacy of friendship, school performance, and satisfaction of school-life) factors on adolescent's self-esteem were examined in a samlpe of 525 first and second grades in middle school. The subdomains of the self-esteem were peer-related self, home self, teacher-related self, academic self, physical appearance self, physical competence self, personality self, and general self. T-test, Pearson's correlation, and regression were used as statistical analysis. Results were as follows. First, there was evidence of a gender difference in the level of the subsdomains of self-esteem: teacher-related, physical-appearance, physical-competence, and personality. Second, the factor which was the most powerful predictor of each subdomain of the self-esteem was as follows 1) the most powerful predictor of the peer-related self was the intimacy of friendship, 2) the most powerful predictor of the home self was the communication with parent, 3) the most powerful predictor of the teacher-related self was the satisfaction of school-life, 4) the most powerful predictor of the academic self was the school performance, 5)the most powerful predictor of the physical-appearance self, the physical competence self, and the personality self was the satisfaction of school-life, 6) the most powerful predictor of the general self was the school performance.
A Study on the Costume of Japanese 天壽國曼茶羅繡帳 (tianshouguomancharaxiuzhang)

This is a result of the comparative study for the dress and ornaments of Cheonsuguk Mandara Sujang(天壽國曼茶羅繡帳, a folding screen of Japan in the 7th century) with that of the era of the Three Kingdoms of the ancient Korea. The style of dress, and a way of wearing dress and ornaments for female and male appeared in Cheonsuguk Mandara Sujang were same as that of the era of the Three Kingdoms of the ancient Korea. The formula of wearing dress in a two-pieces were also identical with that of Korean. Many Japanese scholars also do not deny that the dress and ornaments of Cheonsuguk Mandara Sujang were affected by that of Korean peninsula which had an important effect on cultural and ethnic customs fo Japan. Therefore, it is concluded that the dresses in Cheonsuguk Mandara Sujang are Korean clothes which was imparted to Japanese by Korean lived in the era of the Three Kingdoms.
The validation of property of the modification of CTS2(the revised Conflict Tactics Scales) for use of children on the university students of Korea

The purpose of this study is to examine the utility of the modified form of CTS2(the revised Conflict Tactic Scales) for use of children on university students fo Korea. To attain this purpose, we modified Straus's CTS2(the revised Conflict Tactic Scale) for use of children. It consist of negotiation subscale, physical assault subscale, psychological aggression subscale and injury subscale without sexual coercion subscale. The subjects consisted of 288 students from 19 to 24 of age. As results of analysis(correlation, factor analysis, Cronbach' α), reliability of subscales of CTS2 range from .83 to .98 and total reliability of CTS2 is .93 And there are evidences of construct validity(the convergent validity and discriminant validity) fo CTS2. we examine the prevalence of wife abuse behavior in our subjects' parents. There are the high prevalence of psychological aggression(75.7%) and physical assault(43.4%)
Home Economics Teaehers' Preferences for Home Economies Curricnlum Design categorized by Brown -Focusing on elements detel111ining curriculum designs-

The specific objectives of the study were (1) to determine the preferences for three home economics curriculum designs(HECD) categorized by Majorie Brown(Technical HECD, Self Actualization HECD, and Practical Reasoning HECD), (2) to determine the differences between middle school HE teachers and high school HE teachers on each curriculum element, and (3) to determine the relationships between preferences for three HECD by curriculum elements and personal and professional characteristics of HE teachers. For these objectives, the subjects were randomly selected from HE teachers of secondary schools in the areas of Seoul, In-Cho, and Keungi. The 300 data collected by mailed survey were analyzed into frequency, percentage, Chi-square, and contingency coefficient using SAS program. The major findings were as follows: 1) the majority of HE teacher respeondents preferred the Practical Reasoning HECD about the following curriculum elements: Purpose of HE education, knowledge, subject matter, teaching method, society and culture, learner, learning atmosphere, and HE teacher's role. 2) No significant difference emerged when Chi-square was applied to determine difference between the two groups(middle and high school HE teachers) on three HECD according to each curriculum element. 3) The contingency coefficient between preferences of HE education purpose for three curriculum designs and age was 21, years of teaching was 23, between preferences of learning atmosphere of three curriculum designs and location of school was. 17. These mean that the younger and more beginning teachers perferred HE purpose of the Practical Reasoning HECD, and HE teachers working in urban area more preferred learning atmosphere of Practical Reasoning HECD.
The Preferences for Elderly Housing Characteristics: Viewpoint of A Middle-Aged

This study delineates the preferences of elderly housing characteristics among a middle-aged population. The data were collected from an independent, random, age-stratified sample of house wives using structured questionaire and interview methods. The data were analyzed using a SAS statistics analysis program. The preferred way of living style and housing characteristics were investigated. Preferred housing characteristics were influenced by age, income, job and education. Education was the most powerful indicator for predicting the preferences.
The Study on Construction of Blue Jeans & Pressure

The purpose of this study was construction of bell-bottom blue jeans according to change of flare line and investigate the effects clothing pressure according to various movements of the legs. In this study, movements of leg were classified by M1, M2, M3, M4.(M1:erecting, M2: leapfrogging position, M3:sit-on-one' keens position, M4:Traditional nobel-sitting position) The results were as follows: As usings the leg surface shell by the adhesive paper taping method, basic slacks pattern and blue jeans patterns according to change of flare line was constructed. The order of clothing pressure of the different patterns is C(the flare line is on the calf of the leg)>B(the flare line is on the knee)>A(the flare line is on the thigh). Clothing pressure in the knee point was highest and when the flare line was on the calf of the leg, clothing pressure showed high.
Household Financial management Software Development(ll)

The purpose of this study is to develop a household financial management program that helps consumers estimate their present financial status and also enable them to reach their future financial goals. The computer record-keeping bood developed in this study has unique pictures such as 'statistic mode' in the part of planning & budgeting. We use the Family Income and Expenditure Survey produced by the National Statistical Office, Republic of Korea, to derive the predicted average spending patterns of households. Software is developed in Win 95 environmental design, graphical mode at 800x600 and it has 6 different functional parts with producing the spending graphs. We investigate the satisfaction about the software developed to survey 34 households used the program for two months. The results of users responses were quite positive toward the program developed in this study.
A Study on Purchasing and Post-purchase Behaviors of Middle-aged Wives in Buying Townwears -based on a genetic flowchart of the consumer decision process-

This study was designed to investigate purchasing and post-purchase behaviors of middle-aged wives in buying townwears, an well as to examine socio-demographic variables, physical variables, psychological variables, and their influences on. The data included 374 housewives in Seoul and Pusan. Statistics used for data analysis were Frequencies, Means, Standard Deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation. The major finding are as follows: 1. The level of post-purchase satisfaction marked higher than middle point. 2. Post-purchase satisfaction differed significantly in income, health-state, identity, stress perceptivity, income satisfaction, sense of comparison, and propensity to consume.
A Study on the Labor Participation and Work Load of the Married Female Production Workers

This study investigates why the Married Female Production Workers(MFPW) participate in their work and what is work load they take. This study uses an ecosystems approaches in order to explain the labor participation of the MFPW and their work load. MFPW participate in their work because of the labor markets need and economic need of their household rather than their personal choice. Due to the long working hours, low wage and bad labor conditions of MFPW's job, they suffer more severe work load both at the fob and at home than any other occupational groups.
