Family Life Issues of Poor Female Earners After Korean Economic Crisis

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of poor female-headed families' family life events on their well-being under economic crisis in Korea and to investigate how they overcome their alienation. Specific research questions were as follows : (1) How are poor female earner's life satisfaction level and alienation level after economic crisis\ulcorner (2) How are poor female earner's demands for social security\ulcorner For this empirical analysis, the data was collected from 359 poor female-earners whose first child was of school age in the Seoul metropolitan area from the 14th Feb. to the 18th Mar. 2000. The questionnaire for the survey dealt with demographic information, alienation, life satisfaction and family life event. The major findings of the research project were as fellows: First, poor female-earners'alienation level was not higher than the average level. However among sub areas of alienation, powerlessness was higher than the average level. Second, poor female-easer made a strong claim for social welfare. Especially, they desired so much to be granted the national economic assistance.
An Analysis on the Determinants of Labor Supply for Married Women

The purpose of this research was to investigate the factors affecting the labor supply of married women. Based on the theoretical review of the process for the labor supply of married women and the review of previous research, the emperical specification was deduced as a function of husband's income, assets, education and age, the number of children and home ownership. The data of this research was collected with questionnaire in 1998. The data consisted of the answers by 200 married women. For the measurement of the emperical specification, Logit, Tobit, and Selection Bias Corrected Regression which modifies selection bias were used. Although several different discussions can made depending on the measurement method, the emperical result of this research showed that the labor supply of married women is explained by husband's income, assets, the level of education and work experience.
A Study on the Breast Shapes of Adult Women according to the Age

The purpose of this study is to provide for the basic data useful to the development of the quality of brassiere featuring a good wearing feeling and an effect of reinstating and correcting breast shape. For this purpose, 220 adult women aged between 20 and 59 were sampled to survey their actual breast shapes. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1 According to the increase of age, the items of height were decreased and items of width, depth, circumference and length were increased, being obeser and breast point were drooped. So volume and bottom are3 of breast of 40.50′s women′s age group were larger than 20.30′s women′s age group and breast point width of 40.50′s women was being wider by increase of interior dimensions of breast. 2. The components of adult women′s breast shape can be categorized into "obesity of breast", "upper dimensions of breast and drop", "lower dimensions of breast and drop", "location of breast point and vertical size of breast", "interior dimensions of breast", "exterior dimensions of breast" Such components of breast shape very in terms of weight or apparence depending on ages. Older women tend to have more droopy and widen breasts.
The Study of Harrasment at Worplace and Related Variables

The purpose of this study is to find the general trends of sexual harassment at workplace and to investigate the differences of related variables. The data were obtained through 880 employee living in Chonbuk-Province. The major findings were as follows-1) 70.3% of respondent reported that they had experienced the victimization of sexual harassment at workplace at least once. But most respondents reacted passively to the sexual harassment. 2) Most respondents perceived broadly the definition of sexual harassment and attributed sexual harassment to the social structure. The level of perception about the existence of the institution and the law for the sexual harassment problem was low. 3) The most important variable in the experience of sexual harassment was the ideology of sex-role division. 4) The more respondents experienced sexual harassment, the more they demanded the preventive education of sexual harassment .
A Study on the Adolescents′ School Life and Their Level of Satisfaction

This study was designed to investigate the relationships among adolescent′s study load, peer relationships, school violence and their level of satisfaction with school life. Its purpose was not only to identify and describe their overall school life, but most importantly, to provide baseline data to develop intervention programs that shall improve the level of adolescents′satisfaction with school life. The analysis of data revealed the following results: 1. Adolescents felt highly stressed by their studies. The mean score was 3.40 out of 5 points. 2. Adolescents were highly intimate and relatively low confident with their friends, 4.28 and 3.82 respectively. 3. Approximately half of the respondents(45.4%) had an experience of making their classmates feel "exclusive". In connection, 27% had been involved in school violence. 4. The mean score of adolescents′ level of satisfaction with school life was 2.33. The resets of the study also revealed that students in the rural areas are more satisfied with their school life than in Seoul area Similarly, those in vocational schools are more satisfied than those in regular schools.
The Effect of Benefit thought and Fashion Image on Purchase Intention fo Gal-ot

The purposes of this study were 1) to identify the effect of clothing benefit sought on fashion image sought and 2) to determine the effects of fashion image and benefit sought on purchase intention of Gal-ot. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 172 female tourist(20 to 50 ages) in Cheju and analyzed by factor analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis and logistic regression analysis. Four factors of benefit sought were identified : Practicality/economic-value, aesthetics, reputation, and souvenir-value. Six factors of fashion image were found and labeled as: Sexy/feminine, wild/mannish, easy/simple, Cheju image, ecology and natural image. The effects of benefits sought(Practicality/economic-value, aesthetics, reputation and souvenir-value) on fashion image(Sexy/feminine, easy/simple, Cheju and natural image) were found. There were also significant effects of benefit sought(souvenir-value) and fashion image(Cheju image) on purchase intention of Gal-ot
A Study on the Utilization Pattern and the Perception of Housewives about Edible Oil & Fats

This study was carried out to obtain the information concerning the perception and utilization patter of the housewives about the edible oil and fats. Data were obtained through questionnaires from 442 housewives in Chonbuk area. The eating frequency of food that used oil & fat was affected by age, residing area and educational level. family's preference score of food that used oil & fats was 3.34 point in the 5 point scale. 47% of the subjects answered that the intake rate of oil & fats had more from vegetable oils than animal sauces. Most of the subjects had negative response such as increased cholesterol and body weight for psychological state after the intake of food that used oil & fats. The main reason why some housewives did not use frequently oil & fats was inconvenience of tidying up. The kinds of the oil & fat used frequently were soybean oil, sesame oil, com oil and perilla oil. The nutrition knowledge score rotated to oil & fat was 7.62 point in the 10 point scale. The eating frequency of food that used oil & fats and its preference were positively correlated. These results indicate that the housewives haute a widespread tendency to pursue a health and convenience in the utilization of edible oil & fats.
The Causal Relations of Childrens's Self-Control and Related Variables: Focusing on the Children's Refelction, Self-Concept and Mother's Parenting

The purpose of this study was to analyze a causal relations of children's self-control, self-concept, reflection, age, sex and mother's parenting. The subjects were 86 children of 5-and 6-year=olds, and their mothers and leachers. The instruments were TSCRS, MFFT, Self-concept inventory and Parenting scale. The major findings of this study were as follows; (1) Children's reflection, social self-concept and mother's control parenting predicted children's self-control. 20% of the valiance of children's self-control was explained by these variables. (2) Children's reflection was the first contribution factor and had a direct positive effect on children's self-control. Children's social self-concept had a direct positive effect on children's self-control. Mother's control parenting had a direct negative effect on children's self-control. (3) Mother's affect parenting had an indirect positive effect through children's reflection and social self-concept on children's self-control. Children's sex had indirect effect through mother's control and affect parenting on children's self control. Children's age had indirect effect through children's reflection and mother's control parenting on children's self-control.
The Economic Status and Inequality of the single elderly households

Using the 1996 Expenditure Survey of Urban Famines from the Korea National Statistics Office, this study examines the economic status and the inequality of the elderly households. To explain the inequality of the single elderly households, this study divides the elderly into three groups of single, couple, and Living with admit children, and compares the total household income, total household expenditure and the net saving amount of these three groups. The results of Gini coefficients and Lorenz curries show that the inequality is higher in the single elderly household than couple elderly households or living with adult children elderly households. To investigate the reason of the inequality, this study compares the income, expenditure, and net saving amount by working condition of the household head in each three group. The result implies the need of employment to get household income especially for the single elderly who are in the higher inequality economic condition.
The Effects of Facial Attractiveness and Appropriateness of Clothing on The Trait Evaluation

The main purpose of this study, based on implicit personality theory and attribution theory, was to examine whether there exist the physical attractiveness stereotype, "what is beautiful is good," in the present Korea, and if exist, what is the content of it. The index of the physical attractiveness of this study was the facial attractiveness judged by 30 female university students. The appropriateness of clothing was manipulated by 4 types of clothing perceived appropriate for two assumed situations by female university students. Three female faces having high, medium, and low attractiveness were simulated with the same body dressed four types of clothing using CAD system, and a total of 12 stimulus persons were created. A total of 524 male and female(262 of male, 262 of female) university students from 3 universities in Kwangju, Korea were participated as subjects in this study. The design for the experiment was a 3
2 randomaized factorial, with three levels of facial attractiveness (high, medium, low), and four types attire(formal-masculine, formal-feminine, casual-masculine, casual-feminine), two kinds of context (job interview, dating) in which perceptions were occurred. The data were analysed using factor analysis, MANOVA, t-test and Duncan test. The results were as follows: 1. The facial attractiveness exerted significant positive effects on the evaluation of sociability, adjustment, and potency of her in both of two assumed situations (p<.001, respectively). 2. The appropriateness of stimulus person′s clothing had significant positive erect on the evaluation of sociability of stimulus person in dating context(p<.001). 3. The gender of subjects did not influenced the trait evaluations in both of two assumed situations.
