Lim, Kyung-Bock ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 46, issue 6, 2008, Pages 49~59
The purpose of this study was to examine the role of consumers' self-image and pursued-image of clothes on the clothing purchase decision making according to the location. Data were obtained from a questionnaire filled out by 575 women living in Seoul and Jechon. For data comparative analysis, paired t-test, t-test, factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There were significant differences in self-image and pursued-image in terms of clothing purchases between women who live in Seoul and Jechon residents. 2. Demographic variables influenced to the self-image and pursued-image of clothes factor. Among them, size of the city was the most important factor which influence to the clothing purchase behavior. 3. Self-image, pursued-image of clothes, problem recognition and evaluative criteria factors significantly differed between Seoul and Jechon residents. In two cities, problem recognition factor which was arisen by external stimulus and all of the evaluative criteria factors showed significant differences. 4. When the cities were partitioned by size(large and small city), the influence of self-image and pursued-image of clothes on the clothing purchase behavior showed different phases. Generally, self image and pursued-image of clothes were more important to various problem recognition and evaluative criteria factors in large city(i.e. Seoul) than in small city(i.e. Jechon). However economic rational factor was the exception.

Seo, So-Hee ; Choi, Wai-Sun ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 46, issue 6, 2008, Pages 61~73
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of group art therapy on maternal parenting stress and self-efficacy. The subjects of the study included 16 parents of elementary school students who participated in a group art therapy program offered at B Education Center, Pusan. Eight parents who wanted to receive parental education were allocated into an experimental group, While the other eight parents were regarded as the control group. Mothers in the experimental group participated in the group art therapy program which discussed parent education theories. This Program was composed of 17 sessions, performed once a week for one and a half hours. Research tools employed included parent stress test and parent self-efficacy test. The following results were obtained: Group art therapy was found to bring about a statistically significant decrease in parenting stress. Group art therapy was also found to bring about a statistically significant increase in parent self-efficacy. These results suggest that a program which integrates various parents education theories, within a group art therapy setting, can become an effective parent education tool which decreases maternal parenting stress and increases parent self efficacy.
Study on the Attitude toward Money by MAS(Money Attitude Scale) and the Dining-out Behavior of Undergraduates
Jung, Hyo-Sun ; Yoon, Hye-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 46, issue 6, 2008, Pages 75~87
The purposes of this study were to examine the attitude of undergraduates toward money and the differences in dining-out behavior among three groups of subjects divided by attitude toward money. Self-administrated questionnaires were completed by 387 undergraduates and data were analysed by frequency analysis, chi-square, t-test, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, reliability analysis, duster analysis and discriminant analysis. Results of study were as follows. There appeared six different attitudes of money among the undergraduates investigated: money as a means of seizing power, money as a life pursuit, money as a tool for rational consumption, money as a barometer of success, money as a cause of anxiety, and distrust. The undergraduates showed several different attitudes of money according to gender, major, age and pocket money. Cluster analysis divided subjects into three groups by attitude toward money : low dependent group, moderately dependent group and high dependent group. Three groups of subjects classified by attitudes of money were different from one another in dining-out behavior as well. The low money-dependent group mainly spent less than 5,000 won on a dining-out, and relied on their own experience and recommendation from others on a dining-out information. In contrast, the high money-dependent group spent 20,000 won or more on dining-out, and the distribution of subjects acquiring dining-out information from various channels in that group was significantly higher than other groups.

Study subjects were both volunteers who belonged to family volunteer corps of 12 Healthy Family Centers. Collected data was analyzed SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The results were as followed. First, a 54.1% of subjects is taking part in a familial voluntary service, while a 45.9% of them is not. Their positive intention of future participation is a 77.4%. The period of participation is from 6 months to two years. The frequency of participation is once or twice a month, and the length of activities per participation is for 3 hours. They have taken part in the service with a variety of public relations, and their motive of participation is by and large selfish. Second, as for the influence of participation in a familial voluntary service upon family healthy, the family healthy of participant group is higher in all the four sub-variables of family healthy than that of other groups. The group of which frequency of participation is once a week is better in family communication than the group of which frequency of participation is once or twice per month. The group of which motive of participation is altruistic is higher in sharing a value system among families than the group of which motive of participation is selfish.
Development of the Dysfunctional Communication Behavior Scale for Married Couples - Focusing on Gottman's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse -
Kwon, Yoon-A ; Kim, Deuk-Sung ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 46, issue 6, 2008, Pages 101~114
The purpose of this study was to develop a self-report scale measuring dysfunctional communication behaviors that Korean husbands and wives may use during marital fights. Based on the four concepts of criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling proposed by Gottman(1994a), an initial pool of 38 items was developed. Through expert reviews of the 38 items to assess content validity, preliminary 30 items were selected. Using a sample of 89 married couples who were living in Susan, Korea, we conducted item analyses and exploratory factor analyses with the 30 items. These analyses yielded a final 19-item, four-factor scale : criticism(5 items), contempt(5 items), defensiveness(5 items), and stonewalling(4 items). The internal consistency estimates for these subscales were satisfactory. Finally, using another sample of 228 wives, we conducted confirmatory factor analysis to confirm cross validity of the 19-item, four-factor model. The result indicated that this model fitted the data reasonably well. All standardized factor loadings were significant in this model. The results of this study supported reliability and validity of this scale.

Kim, Mi-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 46, issue 6, 2008, Pages 115~122
In today's college curriculum, fashion illustration courses are regarded as fundamental sources of knowledge in the fashion industry and the fine arts. The purpose of this study was to critically examine current curricula and educational objectives of fashion illustration courses offered by domestic fashion-related universities and academic institutions, in order to help the development of more effective tertiary level fashion education. Based on the results of data analysis, we suggest the following recommendations: Firstly, university courses should focus on drawing-centered fundamental education. Secondly, design education linked to fashion illustration should be strengthened. Thirdly, creativity-boosting design education is necessary. The range of curricula that could foster creativity and problem-solving skills in professionals should be enlarged, and future education should place emphasis on lateral and creative thinking. The result of this study are expected to contribute to the development of better curriculum in fashion-related education.
