DOI : 10.6115/khea.2012.50.8.013
The present study explored the hours of living and playtime depending on existence of caregiver after school using the data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey7071. KCYPS date collected on 1th, 4th and 7th grade children and their caregivers. The hours of living was categorized into sleeping, learning, reading and play times. Playtime was sub-categorized into time for using playing the computer/games, watching TV/DVD and playing with peer groups. The present study has shown that children in the fourth grade spent more time on learning, whereas reading children in the seventh grade spent more time on playing compared to those in other grades during the weekdays. Also, children in higher grades spent more time playing both on the weekdays and on the weekends. Students of all grades spent more time watching TV/DVD compared to other activities during the weekdays and the weekends. Children with a caregiver spent more time on learning and spent less time playing computer/game, watching TV/DVD and playing with peer groups than children without caregivers. As students moved up a grade, these results clearly appeared. Considering the results in this study, the allocation of hours of living and playtime of children altered depending on the existence of a caregivers.

Kim, Eun Jeung ;
Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 50, issue 8, 2012, Pages 21~40
DOI : 10.6115/khea.2012.50.8.021
This study is to respond to the urgent demands of both society and times on public schools in regards to training an educated person who can cope with the financial environment of this diversified modern society. Therefore, this study will explain the concept of Financial Consumer Education and its trends of several other countries. By focusing on the current state of Korean Financial Consumer Education, it will call attention to the needs of introducing Financial Consumer Education to the school curriculum in order to educate students about finance systematically. To support our viewpoint, this paper analyzed and organized the materials concerning Financial Consumer Education in two curricula (2007 and 2011 Revised National Curriculum), and in a Practical Arts (Technology Home Economics) textbook of the 2007 revised version. Hence, the purpose of this study is to explore the desired direction and revitalization of Financial Consumer Education by analyzing the existing curricula. Even though the content of finance education begun from one of the subcategories of consumer education called `Financial Management,`the number of research about financial education through public education has been increased in response to the social and academic consensus. Therefore, we suggest the re-conceptualization of consumer education for financial education is necessary. Therefore, this paper suggests that Financial Consumer education in a Practical Arts (Technology Home Economics) should not be regarded as only one of the components of Consumer Education. Instead, by raising it to the status of Financial Customer Education, it is required to teach the learners to improve their personal financial management skill as well as to help them achieve financial knowledge, skill, and attitude as financial consumer.

The study subjects were married working woman who live at Gyeonggi-do and has their first child studying in elementary, middle, or high school. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 18.0 program. The results were as follows.: First, it has been shown through examination of the general tendency of observation subjects` relative factor, that many have above average parenting stress. The compositing factor for parenting stress were mainly the burden and distress of the parent role. Second, the differences in parenting stress were affected by relative variables in accordance with the general features of the study object. If the younger the parent, the higher the education, the lower the age of the first child, and if there were a child assistant after school, the parenting stress became larger. Third, after controlling for demographic characteristics, employed mothers` neuroticism significantly predicted greater parenting stress. When mothers had more conscientiousness and openness, they reported less parenting stress which implied that interpretation and perception of child rearing experiences can vary depending on personality and predict parenting stress of working mothers.

Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association , volume 50, issue 8, 2012, Pages 53~63
DOI : 10.6115/khea.2012.50.8.053
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the child-mother attachment and the child-father attachment (secure attachment, insecure avoidant and insecure disorganized attachment) on children`s mutual friendships and mutual antipathy relations. The subjects consisted of 116 5-6 year old kindergarteners (64 boys & 52 girls) and they were asked to respond to the Attachment Story Completion Task by Bretherton & Cassidy (1990), based on the sociometric popularity postulated by Coie & Dodge (1988). Data were analyzed by the logistic regression analysis and the one-way ANOVA method and the Scheffe test in multiple comparisons analysis. The results concluded that 1)There were differences in terms of child-mother attachment and child-father attachment when it came to a child`s mutual friendship. The secure child-mother and child-father attachment groups had more mutual friendships than the insecure attachment groups. 2)There were no differences in terms of child-mother attachment and child-father attachment when it came to child`s mutual antipathy. 3) 78.0% of the mutual friendships were accurately classified as existence with respect to child-mother and child-father attachment.

The subjects were 600 children from multi-cultural families who enrolled in child-care centers in Gyeonggi province, their mothers, and 350 teachers caring for these children. The data were collected by administrating a questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics and hierarchical regressions. The results of this study were as follows. The mothers` Korean fluency, number of years children had attended child-care centers, and language guidance provided by child-care centers for children from multi-cultural families all had positive effects on children`s general and oral communication ability. On the other hand, the number of years that the children had attended child-care centers had no significant effect on the children`s written communication ability, but the mothers` Korean fluency and language guidance provided by child-care centers for children from multi-cultural families had positive effects on children`s written communication ability. Finally, the mothers` Korean fluency moderated the effects of children`s child-care experiences on their communication ability. Specifically, the more fluent the mothers` Korean, the stronger the effects of children`s child-care experiences on their communication ability.
