Design and Implementation of a Sensor Node for Out-Door Environmental Monitoring

In this paper, we described a design and implementation of a sensor node for environmental monitoring. The main focus of design for sensor nodes is to isolate MCU for treating sensors from the RF module for considering various communication environment. The second is to make the interface between MCU and varity of sensor. In addition, we choose a narrow band communication module, cc1020, for the admittance of Korea government communication law. We also use a uC/OS-II as an operating system which is famous for 8bit MCUs. We showed that the communication performance is sufficient to use the communication module in a out-door environment through several experiments in that it is possible to transmit between 100m distance through experiments in a mountain.
Characteristics Analysis of 3-phase Induction Generator at the Unbalanced Load Operation

Hydro power supplies no pollution energy, mainly induction generator has been applied at the small capacity power station. The generating power of small hydro-electric power station connects on the 22.9kV distribution system or low voltage system in the case of three-phase four-wire supply system. There are side effects of various kinds in the 3-three phase 4-wire distribution system mixing 1-phase load and 3-phase load. This system generates the voltage unbalance by unbalanced load operating condition. They have various serious effects on generator and connection system. In this paper, we analyzed what kind of operation characteristic are happened in the induction generator by customer load variation at the 3-three phase 4-wire distribution system.
Design of a Neuro-Fuzzy Observer for Speed-Sensorless Control of DC Servo Motor

This paper deals with speed-sensorless control of DC servo motor using Neuro-Fuzzy Observer. DC servo motor has very low rotor inertia and excellent response characteristic and it is very useful to control torque and speed. It is easy to detect the voltage and current and resolver or encoder is used to measure a rotor speed. But it has a limit as a driving speed to detect speed precisely. So it is problem to improve the performance of the driving system. To solve this problem, it is studied to detect a speed of DC servo motor without sensor. In particular, study on the method to estimate the speed using the observer is performed a lot. In this paper, the gain of the observer is properly set up using the Neuro-Fuzzy control and Neuro-Fuzzy Observer that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared the existing method is designed. It calculates the differentiation of the rotor current directly using the rotor current measured in the DC servo motor and estimates the speed of the rotor using the differentiation. Proposed speed sensorless control method is performed using the estimated speed. Also, it is proved feasibility of the proposed observer from the comparison tested a case with a speed sensor and a case without a speed sensor which used a highly efficient drive and 200[w] DC servo motor starting system.
Deadbeat Control of Three-Phase Shunt Active Power Filter Using Resonance Model

In this paper, a new simple control method for active power filter which can realized the complete compensation of the harmonic currents is proposed. In the proposed scheme, a compensating current reference generator employing resonance model implemented by a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) is introduced. Deadbeat control is employed to control the active power filter. The switching pulse width based SVM(Space Vector Modulation) is adopted so that the current of active power filter is been exactly equal to its reference at the next sampling instant. To compensate the computation delay of digital controller, the prediction of current is achieved by the current observer with deadbeat response.
Analysis on the Effects by Weather Conditions of Infrared Thermography

Infrared thermography is one of the most valuable and cost-effective diagnostic techniques for predictive maintenance on electrical systems. For the electric installations, the thermographies can identify major problems, which if left unattended could lead to breakdowns. The result thermal images depend upon operator skills, inspection technique, and load and weather conditions. When the thermographer is applied to remote monitoring, the conditions of the systems are not perfectly analyzed because operators are hard to know the weather's effects of the installed place. Therefore, this paper defines the effects by weather conditions which will influence the final results. The purpose of this paper is to define the weather effects that a thermographer needs to consider for successful condition analysis.
Transmission Characteristics & Analysis of Ignition Voltage According to Its Conductor Length from the Ballast to the HID Lamp

In this paper, characteristics of ignition voltage and current by wire length of HID(High Intensity Discharge) lamp circuit are analyzed. In the construction field, decision of the wire thickness for HID lamp circuit has the problems, and these are presented. Through transmit parameters, equivalent model of the ballast and HID lamp circuit was derived. The graph of voltage reduction about length between the ballast and the lamp is shown. The simulation of proposed model and experimental results are presented in order to validate the proposed method. The proposed model and graph can use to choose the proper length of wire between the ballast and the lamp in the field.
