Analysis and Evaluation of Buck Converter with LC Input Filter for a PTC Heater in the Electric Vehicle

Recently, the market of Electric Vehicle(EV) is increasing more and more than before. Thus a new heater for the EV is required. The PTC devices may be used the heater for the EV. In this paper, a simple DC-DC Converter is proposed as the PTC Heater for the EV. The proposed circuit was optimally desired to decrease the stress of the power devices and reduce the current ripples. To apply the result of the test in the laboratory to the actual EV system with the high DC voltage, ripple current, average current and output peak current are predicted by using the least-squares method. Finally, the proposed circuit is validated by various experiments.
A Study on Application of RCM Method to Power Distribution System using Ordinal Optimization

This paper proposes optimal maintenance strategies for power distribution systems that involve the use of the reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) method. We developed an improved decision model based on the Markov process. This model can obtain the optimal inspection interval and maintenance method based on the total expected cost. We used ordinal optimization for solving the optimal problem. Optimal maintenance strategies were presented by applying the developed method to the RBTS model. A B/C analysis proved that these strategies offer maximum benefit-to-cost.
A Study on Compatibility of Vehicle Using Alternative Fuels

The purpose of this study provides the theoretical model for protecting the economic and social loss from the current alternative fuel vehicle which is developed without compatibility and senseless one's own through verifying the statistical significant by method of measuring analysis. The market scale of alternative fuel vehicle depends on customer's and station's expectation about the number of potential vehicle users. It is very difficult for vehicle manufacturer to make a decision on the standard alternative fuel vehicle as it might reduce profit and market share. Accordingly, the development of alternative fuel vehicle should have manufacturer confident on the potential profit in the future. Moreover, if we decide to use the non-standard fuel after we started to use the standard fuel, it would take a huge cost comparing with starting to use the standard fuel only. As a result, once one of companies starts to provide the non-standard fuel service, it is getting more difficult to use the standard fuel going forward. Consequently, we may review the possibility of choice on the standard fuel before the vehicle manufacturer starts service with non-standard fuel.
Analysis of Power Quality for Extra-High Voltage Customers by Field Tests

Recently, due to the expansion of electric power demands, nonlinear load such as converters and inverters connected to the electric power distribution system, and extensive application of harmonic generation sources with power electric devices, disturbance of the electric power system and its influences on industries have been continuously increasing. In this research, power quality was analyzed for 11 extra-high voltage customers by considering voltage unbalance condition, power factor, THD and TDD. This research will be utilized as fundamental data to improve power quality for power utility.
Comparative Studies of Frequency Estimation Method for Fault Disturbance Recorder

Voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in a power system. The PMU technique can not easily get the field data and it is impossible to share information, so that there has been used a FNET(Frequency Monitoring Network) method for the wide-area intelligent protection in USA. It consists of FDR(Fault Disturbance Recorder) and IMS(Information Management System). Therefore, FDR must provide an optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and failure. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(Improved Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), FRDWT(Fast Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform). The Republic of Korea345[kV] power system modeling data by EMTP-RV are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT(Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform) and DFT. The simulation results show that the proposed frequency estimation technique using FRDWT could be the optimal frequency measurement method, and thus be applied to FDR.
High Brightness Prism Light-guide Plate for TFT-LCDs Using Optical Simulation and Novel Injection Mold Process

We have designed high performance prism light-guide plate (LGP) in 17 inch TFT-LCD. In test result to embody high brightness BLU in case of LGP of base and upper surface with 17 inch, thickness 8mm adding prism construct. Using optical simulation, we forecast the brightness and uniformity in LGP with prism structure. And we adopted novel injection mold method and Nickel stamper to make actual evolution sample. Novel injection mold process has steady heating time zone in heat cycle time of injection mold process. For this novel heat cycle control, we achieved above 90[%] height prism structure as our design. It is superior brightness improvement than previous that of printing form about some 20[%] and in this course to embody actual material it succeeded prism LGP production by 17 inch injection form process.
A Characteristics of the Applied SOG Lens for the CPV Module

CPV system in the desert areas or areas near the equator, as is suitable for high-temperature region. As compared to silicon solar cells, CPV system have a high proportion of a BOS (balance of system). Solar cells because of its low proportion when designing a module technology is applied in a variety of ways. Applied to the CPV system is classified into two kinds of optical technology. One of those using fresnel lens uses refraction of light energy. The other is a mirror reflection of the structure using sprays. Both of these two ways to condense the sun to collect solar cell is a form of light. And goals by using a small solar cell materials is to produce more energy. In this paper, suitable for a domestic environment, with the aim CPV Manufacturing Technology, built on a variety of modular process technology to the development of a prototype performance analysis was carried out. In particular, silicone coated on the glass by the method of implementation of the Fresnel lens SOG(Silicon on glass) by applying the lens to absorb the solar spectrum was broad. In addition to, for the analyze to characteristics of the CPV module, developed CPV module performance and generating characteristics studied. These related technology through research and development of high-performance multi-junction solar cells, modules, development of concentrating solar power systems to facilitate the growth of the market is considered to be.
A Study on Video Quality Estimation on IPTV under Lab Network Environment

This paper analyzed major factors affecting video quality in IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) services in multicasting under our lab network environment similar to practical IPTV service networks. We measured video qualities for the broadcasting traffics in IPTV multicasting with or without applying QoS (Quality of Service) technique. The measurements allowed us to extract thresholds of network measurement factors affecting the quality for the service. It will be a good choice that the factors can be a reference to ensure stable video quality for practical IPTV services in multicasting.
