Development of Railway Platform Safety Equipment using Laser Radar Sensor

Many accidents are being occurred due to many missteps, etc. at the railway platform. Recently in Korea, efforts to prevent casualties fundamentally are being made by installing and operating the PSD(Platform Screen Door) with underground station building as its center to prevent these casualties of passengers. Although this PSD can solve the problem of public casualties at platform fundamentally, it is impossible to install it at whole station buildings since its installation cost is high, and in case of the ground station building of general railway whose operation speed is higher, installation of PSD is impossible due to the characteristics of railway system. This paper proposes the novel safety equipment using Laser radar sensors for the prevention against casualties of passengers at station buildings where the PSDs are not installed like this. The safety equipment using Laser radar sensors is the safety equipment making an approaching train stopped if the falling object is a person by detecting the obstacle at platform through, and it has the merit possible to apply it to station buildings not only in the underground section but also in the ground section since it may detect accurately under ambient environmental elements such as the snow, rain and yellow dust, etc. also. We developed the prototype of the safety equipment to reduce public casualties at platform by using Laser radar sensors and carried out its performance test, and the result is presented in this paper.
Static Load Modeling Based on Artificial Neural Network and Harmonics

Nonlinear loads with harmonics exist in an actual power system where harmonic currents make voltage distortion. The sum of reactive power measured at individual load is different from the measured reactive power at a bus in a power system with linear and non-linear loads. In this study, ANN(artificial neural network) load modeling technique with consideration of harmonics is introduced for more accurate component load modeling and an impact coefficient is proposed for aggregation of component loads. Results of this research show more accurate load modeling method. Since precise data for power system analysis can be acquired, the proposed method will be used for power system planning and maintenance.
The Comparison of the Current Unblance Factor According to the Cable Array Method using PSCAD/EMTDC and FEA

In this study, samples from the site where there occurred unbalanced current when cable routing were analyzed, and the simulation program for electric power system analysis, PSCAD/EMTDC, was used to calculate the current unbalance on cable routing. Based on electromagnetic finite element analysis(FEA), electromagnetic parameters enabled the interlocking with COMSOL for the calculation of allowable current ampacity and magnetic filed distribution. This then led to modeling unbalanced current between common modes using the unbalanced current analysis program, thereby comparing and discussing the results from both. The analyzed model is a common mode 2 parallel circuit, which is a basic model for cable routing, and by arranging cables in various ways, the arrangement with the least current unbalance was suggested, which would, in the future, prevent earth faults and extend life for the whole cable.
Analysis of Electrical Characteristics and Performance of Ballast for Dual Lamps

An electronic ballast and magnetic ballast are two major types of ballasts used in HID(High Intensity Discharge) lamp. Compared with magnetic ballasts which can last for over 30 years and are recyclable at the end of their long lifetime, electronic ballasts have very short lifetimes due to the use of the electronic devices. In this paper, we developed a magnetic ballast for dual lamps and analyzed electrical characteristics and efficiency. As the experimental results, we confirm that the magnetic ballast for dual lamps makes it possible to effectively reduce current, active and reactive powers than conventional ballast.
A Current-Mode Multi-Valued Logic Interface Circuits for LCD System

In this paper, we propose interface circuits for reducing power consumption and EMI when sequences of data from LCD controller to LCD driver IC by transmitting two bit data during one clock period. The proposed circuits are operated in current mode, which is different from conventional voltage-mode signaling techniques, and also employ threshold technique of Modified-LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling) method. We have simulated the proposed circuits using H-SPICE tool for performance analysis of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed circuits provide a faster transmission speed and stronger noise immunity than the conventional LVDS circuits. It might be suitable for the real-time transmission of huge image data in LCD system.
Contrast Enhancement Algorithm for Backlight Images using by Linear MSR

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the contrast ratio, to preserve information of bright regions and to maintain the color of backlight image that appears with a great relative contrast. Backlight images of the natural environment have characteristics for difference of local brightness; the overall image contrast improvement is not easy. To improve the contrast of the backlight images, MSR (Multi-Scale Retinex) algorithm using the existing multi-scale Gaussian filter is applied. However, existing multi-scale Gaussian filter involves color distortion and information loss of bright regions due to excessive contrast enhancement and noise because of the brightness improvement of dark regions. Moreover, it also increases computational complexity due to the use of multi-scale Gaussian filter. In order to solve these problems, a linear MSR is performed that reduces the amount of computation from the HSV color space preventing the color distortion and information loss due to excessive contrast enhancement. It can also remove the noise of the dark regions which is occurred due to the improved contrast through edge preserving filter. Through experimental evaluation of the average color difference comparison of CIELAB color space and the visual assessment, we have confirmed excellent performance of the proposed algorithm compared to conventional MSR algorithm.

Development of Media Crypto Algorithm for anti-hacking into CCTV

There are so many CCTV in our streets, buildings and public places. Nevertheless, security methods for CCTV are rarely. This paper describes a study on developing a media crypto algorithm for anti-hacking into CCTV. H.264 codec is used to compress the video stream in CCTV systems. HIGHT algorithm provided by KISA is adopted as a crypto algorithm in our development. Other crypto methods except HIGHT could be selected by company's security police. Only some bytes in VCL(Video Coding Layer) of H.264 are encrypted to improve the performance of limited platforms, such as CCTV, WebCam, smartphone. Very fast and light crypto algorithm was developed by our researches.
Sound Service Modeling for the Improvement of Amenity in Disamenity Environmental Space

In this study, the three sounds effects on subjects due to EEG type, and it researched to find optimal sound to increase their amenity and productivity. EEG and HRV were compared and analyzed in the environmental test room by classifying subjects into two type: A and B. The condition of the environmental test room was in temperature
, relative humidity 50[RH%], air current speed 0.02[m/s] and illuminance 1000[lux] with setting up three different sounds which are U type sound, V type sound and Z type sound. The result of this study, at U type sound for A and B type, relative
wave and SEF50 were revitalized. Also at Z type sound for A and B type, stress index, fatigue degree and HRT were decreased and SDNN was revitalized. Therefore U type sound is very effective to increase amenity, productivity and concentration, and Z type sound is very effective to decrease stress and fatigue degree.
