A Study on the Characteristics of Applicability in the Active Noise Cancellation System and Measurement of the Road Noise for Traffic Calming

Noise problem that occurs on the road is raising a lot of problems in the economic, social and environmental aspects. The objective of this paper is to propose ANC(active noise cancellation)-based road traffic noise reduction algorithm-model which can reduce noise by generating frequency opposed to noise sources to improve and complement the problem that existing physical form of a noise barrier. In this paper, we measured the noise characteristic from collection of two difference car noise also ANC simulation has been performed by using road traffic noises input. In order to compare the control performance, we performed noise reduction simulation of ANC by filtered-X LMS algorithm and delayed control signal injection. As a result of this simulation, we confirmed that convergence performance and noise decrease effect to the filtered-X LMS algorithm by inputting the road traffic noise.
The Development of Boiler Furnace Pressure Control Algorithm and Distributed Control System for Coal-Fired Power Plant

This paper is written for the development and application of boiler furnace pressure control algorithm and distributed control system of coal-fired power plant by the steps of design, coding, simulation test, site installation and site commissioning test. The control algorithms were designed in the shape of cascade control for two parts of furnace pressure control and induced draft fan pitch blade by standard function blocks. This control algorithms were coded to the control programs of distributed control systems. The simulator for coal-fired power plant was used in the test step and automatic control, sequence control and emergency stop tests were performed successfully like the tests of the actual power plant. The reliability was obtained enough to be installed at the actual power plant and all of distributed control systems had been installed at power plant and all signals were connected mutually. Tests for reliability and safety of plant operation were completed successfully and power plant is being operated commercially. It is expected that the project result will contribute to the safe operation of domestic new and retrofit power plants, the self-reliance of coal-fired power plant control technique and overseas business for power plant.
New Inspection Skill for Load-test of Hydraulic Elevator without Actual Loads

In order to check traction of the elevator, the load-test is positively necessary on the inspection of elevator in Korea. So actual loads are used in the elevator car for the load-test. However, some of advanced countries in Europe, for example Germany, are using the alternative method with no load test instead of traditional load-test. Commonly hydraulic elevator, compared to passenger elevator is mainly used for loading heavy weights. It requires a great deal of labor to carry out load-test. The reason is why we developed a new inspection skill for the load-test of hydraulic elevator without actual loads. The results of studies show that the new method of the load-test can be replace the traditional load-test.
A Study on Design of IED for Generator Protection Panel

A large generator is an important role in transferring an electric power to power system. The IEDs of large generator often use microprocessor technology to obtain a digital relay system with a wide range of measuring, protection, control, monitoring, and communication functions. However, all generator protection and control systems in Korea imported from abroad and are being operated. In order to reduce the large expense and improve the reliable operation, development of generator protection and control system by domestic technology is required. This paper deals with the design of the IED of generator protection panel for development of generator protection and control system. The major emphasis of the paper will be on the description of hardware and signal processing test results and measurement accuracy of the prototype IED. By developing of generator IED based on DSP and microprocessor, replacement of the generator protection panel imports are expected to be effective.
Grounding Grid Design Considering the Dangerous Voltage of Multi-layered Model in the Constrained Sites

In Korea, where most of the sites are narrow in space and their earth resistivity is relatively high, the spaces between grounding conductors are likely to be designed narrow in order to lower ground resistance and dangerous voltage below to the permitted safety values. In addition, ground nets are in the shape of square or rectangle depending on the location and size of the facilities and ground contact area, and inner conductors are laid out in grids like the pattern of nets. Nevertheless, with the existing designs, the marginal voltage for safety gets higher as the area is extended further outside, in comparison with that of inner mesh grounding, thus causing much difficulty maintaining them equipotential, and there exist limits in the burial, grounding grid design considering the dangerous voltage of muti-layered model in the constrained sites, was studied.
Power Factor Correction of Single-phase Boost Converter for Low-cost Type UPS Configuration

A novel AC to DC PWM converters with unity input power factor are proposed to overcome the above shortcoming. The main function of these converters is to shape the input line current to force it exactly in phase with the input AC voltage. Therefore, the input power factor can be improved to near unity and the input current harmonics can be eliminated. In this paper, half-bridge converter with two active switches and two diodes are utilized for low-cost type UPS configuration. By having only two semiconductors in the current path at any time, losses can be reduced over the conventional boost topology. Also, this converter provides controllable dc-link voltage, high power factor, and low cost type converter by simple power circuits. Simulation results show that the proposed half-bridge converter/inverter control technique can be applied to single-phase low-cost type UPS systems successfully.
Fault Simulation and Analysis of Generator

Large generator of power plant is very important. In order to protect large generator from faults, digital protective relay or IED is required. However, all protective relays for generators of the domestic power plant are operated by foreign products. And now, for technological independence from foreign and improvement of import substitution effect, IEDs using domestic technology are being developed. To evaluate performance of developing next-generation power devices, the study of the dynamic characteristics of the power plant, generator system modeling, fault simulation and analysis, should be considered. Specially, To obtain IEEE Standards COMTRADE format for relay operation test, generator system modeling and fault simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC tools must be preceded. Until now, a complete modeling of generator internal windings and fault simulation techniques dose not exist. In this paper, for evaluation performance of relay elements of developing IED, the generator system modeling and various faults simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC tools were performed. And then, the various transient phenomena through obtained relaying signal of developed modeling were analyzed.
