Factors that have influence on solar power generation are specified into three aspects such as meteorological, geographical factors as well as equipment installation. Meteorological factors influence the most among the three. Insolation, sunshine hours, and cloud directly influence on solar power generation, whereas temperature and wind speed have impacts on equipment installation. This paper provides explanation over temperature-wind speed equation by calculating influence of temperature and wind speed on equipment installation. In order to conduct a research, pyranometer, anemometer, air thermometer, module thermometer are installed in 2MWp solar power plant located in South Cholla province, so that real-time meteorological data and generating amount can be analyzed through monitoring system. Besides, if existing and new methods are applied together, accuracy of prediction for generating amount is improved.

DOI : 10.5370/KIEEP.2015.64.1.007
This paper presents mathematical models for high speed permanent-magnet synchronous machine. The mathematical method with two successive steps is used to estimate design parameter as well as the output power. At first, mathematical model for a linkage flux problem is employed to calculate the number of winding turns and stack length of armature core. The magnetic circuit model for an induced voltage and the electric circuit model for a current are modeled. The output powers of the electrical generator were evaluated by the mathematical techniques. The results of this mathematical methods predict the specifications of the machine and can be applied in the design stage of the electrical machine.

Lee, Sang-Keun ;
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers P, volume 64, issue 1, 2015, Pages 14~17
DOI : 10.5370/KIEEP.2015.64.1.014
This paper presents a analysis method for power system stability using a Modified Genetic-based Power System Stabilizer(MGPSS). The proposed MGPSS parameters are optimized using Modified Genetic Algorithm(MGA) in order to maintain optimal operation of generator under the various operating conditions. To improve the convergence characteristics, real variable string is adopted. The results tested on a single machine infinite bus system verify that the proposed controller has better power system stability than conventional controller.

When using a secondary battery in energy storage units, if the grid is in light duty the active power is stored so it can be used when the grid is in heavy duty. This makes possible for the load equalize and make the grid optimized. Recently the government is trying to propagate this technology. Depending on its capacity this kind of electric energy storage unit is used in adjusting the frequency, break up the energy peak in summer and winter, stabilize the energy output of renewable energy which can change unstably because of the environment. Which makes it possible to stabilize the grid. It is anticipated that market of 120 trillion won will be developed worldwide in 2030. Currently in Korea a steady supply is in progress. However because of stray electromagnetic waves some other electronics are malfunctioning. This paper covers the research in the method to detect the emission noise in small electric energy storage units using lithium secondary batteries and battery management system, Power conditioning systems with CIPSR standards. And the research of a more efficient method to measure such stray electromagnetic waves.

Measuring the distances between signals in the signal space is usually determined by obtaining the ideal metric which is not easy to obtain. In this research we have investigated the scheme that measures the distances between the signals constructed with the measured voltage signals connected to electric apparatus using Kalman filter and exponential mapping. The metric is defined on the feature signals obtained via the estimation process of a Kalman filter and the mapping process using the exponential transformation. Diagnosis is on the voltage fluctuations is applied to determining whether the system is in the stable state or not due to the unexpected accidents, such as power overcharge, discharge, outages flow may be the cause of the accident. The decision making scheme evaluated with respect to the effectiveness and the degree of complication with different variances. Two methods, the Hard Limit Threshold Scheme(HLTS) and the Interval Energy Scheme(IES) are proposed and compared. In experiments the IES shows better tolerance to impulse noise than the HLTS.

DC bus electrolytic capacitors are used in variety of equipments as smoothing element of the power converters because it has high capacitance for its size and low price. It is responsible for frequent breakdowns of many static converters and inverter drive systems. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure of power converter. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for DC BUS electrolytic capacitors of power converter using low-cost type Zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using AC coupling method of DC link ripple voltage/current. The Zigbee communication-based experimental results show that the proposed remote DC capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to DC/DC converter and UPS successfully.

Generators are the most complex and expensive single element in a power system. The generator protection relays should to minimize damage during fault states and must be designed for maximum reliability. A conventional CDR(Current Differential Relaying) technique based on DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) filter have the disadvantages that the time information can lead to loss in the process of converting the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain. A WT(Wavelet transform) and WT analysis is known that it is possible with the local analysis of the fault and transient signal. In this paper, to overcome the defects in the DFT process, an application of WT for fault detection of generator is presented. This paper describes an selection of mother Wavelet to detect faults of generator. Using collected data from the fault simulation with ATPdraw, we analyzed the several mother Wavelet through the course of MLD(multi-level decomposition) using MATLAB software. Finally, it can be seen that the proposed technique using detail coefficient of Daubechies level 2 which can be fault discriminant of generator.

In cognitive radios, exponentially distributed idle period(EIP) is considered in this paper. In the EIP case, durations of idle periods are be limited and varied by primary traffic arrivals. Accordingly, we first analyze the idle period utilization which can be achieved by the slotted ALOHA in cognitive radio communications. The idle period utilization is a newly defined performance metric to measure the transmission performance of the secondary network as effective time durations utilized for successful secondary transmissions in an idle period. Then, the idle period utilization is maximized through controlling the data transmission time. All technical processes are mathematically analyzed and expressed as closed form solutions.
