A Study on the Possible Running Time Estimation of Tilting Train on the Gyeongbu line

A rising attention is paid to the railway system in many countries. KOREA is also of the opinion that the railway has to play a more important role in the near future to face up to the problems that increase gradually in the transport sector. To attract more traffic to the rail networks, it is important for rail modes to have running time competitiveness. Tilting trains, where it is possible to tilt the car-body towards the center of the curve, are a less expensive alternative to shorten travelling times on existing lines. Running time for tilting train is one of the most important factors, with which passenger demand forecasting or economic feasibility analysis will be done. This paper evaluates the speed limitation of tilting train around curves and also presents calculation process of its simulated possible running time. Then the adequacy of estimated time is verified with running time for Korean protype tilting train TTX (Tilting Train eXpress) by actual test run. As a case study, the estimated running time for the production version of tilting train and its time saving are presented compared with 2012's conventional Saemaul trains and non-tilting trains on the Gyeongbu line in the Korean rail network.
A Planar Yagi-Uda Dipole Antenna with Dual Tapered Balun by CPW-fed to CPS

In this paper, we proposed a broadband planar Yagi-Uda dipole antenna with dual tapered balance and unblance (balun) by CPW-fed to CPS. This antenna consisted of driver, three directors, dual tapered balun and CPS-fed to CPS. The fed structure of CPW-fed to CPS had a benefit points much simpler than other planar Yagi-Uda antennas and provided design more flexibility in arranging the reflector. The proposed antenna is introduced dual tapered balun to improve the impedance matching. It balun is inserted between the CPW-ground and the CPS. The proposed antenna is exhibited the bandwidth of 4.78 GHz (1.94~6.72 GHz) (S11 < -10 dB) and the gain of 4.9~7.2 dBi within that bandwidth. This antenna will applicate wireless communication.

Korea's first tram (so called "tram"), which was commenced the operation on May 4, 1899 of late Joseon Dynasty and run until 1968, played a pivotal role of public transportation. However, tram as new transportation mean is being recognized as traffic congestion problem becomes issue due to geometric automobile increase and reckless urban plan after stoppage of tram service. Tram has an advantage of inexpensive construction cost and eco-friendly means compared to existing and city railway, carrying more passengers rather than existing bus, excellent connectivity of existing transportation because of easy accessible to destination in the city center. Therefore, tram, what is called "Green Rvolution of Public Transportation", has a dreaming of revival and in the process of pushing. We suggest the accident type which might break out in the early stage of tram introduction and preventive measures by surveying the accident cases of tram advanced country, and study the crossing control measures.
A Study on the Risk based RAMS Assessment for Railway Rolling Stock Systems

Rolling stock RAMS is a field of engineering which integrates reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) characteristics into an inherent product design property through rolling stock system engineering process. It is implemented to achieve operational objectives successfully, and recently the RAMS has become a rapidly growing engineering discipline because it has a great potential to ensure safety and improve cost effectiveness. However, the Korean rolling stock industry has not yet implemented RAMS management in the rolling stock engineering process, despite the issue having been addressed since the introduction of the KTX. Thus, this paper discusses the processes, methods and techniques for RAMS assessment in three parts. Firstly, it outlines a process of the overall RAMS performance assessment for achieving technical RAMS design criteria. Secondly, it discusses a process for assessing the operational RAM and allocating the RAM. This paper also proposes a model for assessing safety-based risk management, which includes five analytic techniques for identifying the causes and consequences of a system failure. Finally, a case example is provided for the risk assessment of the pneumatic braking device.
Development and Application of LPB Management System for Bimodal Tram

Bimodal Tram developed by KRRI is driven by a series Hybrid propulsion system which has both the CNG engine, generator and LPB(Lithium Polymer Battery) pack. It has three driving modes; Hybrid mode, Engine mode and Battery mode. Even in case of Battery mode, LPB pack to get enough power to drive the vehicle only by itself onsists of 168 LPB cells(80Ah per lcell), 650V. It is important thing to manage LPB pack in a right way, which will extend the lifetime of LPB cells and operate in the hybrid mode effectively. This paper has shown the development of battery management system(12 BMS, 1 BMS per 14cells) to manage LPB pack which is connected with CAN(Controller Area Network) each other and measure the voltage, current, temperature and also control the cooling fan inside of LPB pack. Using the measured data, BMS can show the SOC(State of Charge), SOH(State of Health) and other status of LPB pack including of the cell balancing.
Characteristic Analysis of Hot Spot Temperature according to Cooling Performance Variation of Natural Ester Transformer

Natural ester has a higher biodegradability, flash and fire points, and a greater permittivity compared to conventional mineral oils. However, natural ester also has a higher pour point, viscosity, and water content. These characteristics hamper circulation and the electrical properties of oil-filled transformer. Thus, this paper applied electromagnetic-thermal-flow coupled analysis method to predict temperature distribution inside 154kV single phase power transformer using natural ester. It modeled in the actual appearance for the tank and winding of the power transformer to improve the accuracy of analysis and applied heat flow analysis that considered hydromechanics and heat transfer at the same time. It calculated the power loss, the main cause of temperature rise, from winding and core with electromagnetic analysis then used for the heat source for the heat flow analysis. It then compared the reasonability of result of measurement analysis based on the result acquired from temperature rise test using FBG sensor on the power transformer.

Chiller system plays an important role of maintaining room temperature constantly by supplying chilled water to Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning(HVAC)or area room cooler equipment during plant normal operation or accident condition. Chiller failures are one of the most frequently occurring equipment failures. If the types of chiller failures are analyzed and grouped thoroughly, it would be helpful to make chiller maintenance strategy at the plants. That would enhance equipment reliability of chiller in the end. In this paper, chiller failure data during three years were analyzed and categorized by specific failure code. In addition, the various proposals to improve equipment reliability of chiller were suggested such as Preventive Maintenance Optimization(PMO) strategy and performance monitoring reinforcement and so on.

In this paper, achieved rise temperature distribution about degradation phenomenon of 24 MVA distribution cast resin transformer using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics). Usually, life of transformer is depended on temperature distribution of specification region than thermal special quality of transformer interior. Specially, life of transformer by decline of dielectric strength decreases rapidly in case rise by strangeness transformer interior hot spot temperature value permits. Because calculating high-voltage(HV) winding and low-voltage(LV) winding of cast resin transformer and Joule's loss of core for improvement these life, forecasted heat source, and HV winding and LV winding of cast transformer rise temperature distribution of core for supply of electric power and temperature distribution of highest point on the basis of the results. Also, calculated temperature rise limit of cast resin transformer and permission maximum temperature using analysis by electromagnetic heat source. Calculated and forecasted rise temperature distribution by heat source of thermal analysis with calculated result.
New Partial Resonant Zero Voltage Switching PWM High Frequency Inverter using Induction Heating

This paper presents a newly proposed prototype of voltage-fed half-bridge partial resonant zero voltage switching PWM inverter operating at a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme, which is more suitable and acceptable for induction heated(IH) cooking appliances. This application-specific high frequency inverter circuit topology using a new generation specially-designed IGBTs can operate under a principle of a fixed frequency ZVS-PWM strategy. The operating principle of a new partial resonant inverter circuit is described on the basis of its computer-aided simulation analysis, its including steady-state operating characteristics.
Characteristics of Real-time Implementation using the Advanced System Controller in ANC Systems

Active noise control (ANC) is a method of cancelling a noise signal in an acoustic cavity by generating an appropriate anti-noise signal via canceling loudspeakers. The continuous progress of ANC involves the development of improved adaptive signal processing algorithms, transducers, and DSP hardware. In this paper, the convergence behavior and the stability of the FxLMS algorithm in ANC systems with real-time implementation is proposed. Specially, The advanced DSP H/W with dual core(DSP+ARM) and API(application programming interface) S/W programming was developed to improve the real-time implementation performance under the FxLMS algorithms of input noise such as road noise environment. The experimental results are found to be in good agreement with the theoretical predictions.
Calculation of ESS Capacity of Industrial Customer through Economic Analysis

In this paper, ESS capacity installed in industrial customer is calculated using economic analysis. To do this, electric charge for industrial customer is analyzed and power management system(PMS) of ESS is selected. Reduction of kW cost and kWh cost are set to 'benefit' according to operation of ESS. Also, installation cost and maintenance cost of ESS are set to 'cost'. Proper ESS capacity is determined as a result of benefit-to-cost(B/C) analysis according to the variation of ESS installation cost. In case study, B/C is analyzed for the specific industrial customer and minimum capacity of ESS to make a profit are proposed for the customer.

Electrical energy supply interruption degrades reliability of power supply as well as social costs and economic loss. It is important to assess the reliability of the power system. Nowadays IEC61850 based substation automation system(SAS) has been developed for an updating of automation and interoperability. In this study, three kinds of reliability block diagram(RBD) were proposed to examine of network availability of the three types SAS. And reliability and unreliability of the SAS was formulated using the RBD. Finally, while varying the value of reliability and unreliability, the reliability and the unreliability of the overall system were evaluated.

The accurate measurement and analysis of the causes of power quality problems is difficult. In preparing for these issues, there are many difficulties. In this study, Power quality of A public establishment of Chungbuk province were measured and analyzed. Measurement results of the fifth harmonic current was very large. Accordingly, the harmonic reduction will be needed. This research will be utilized as fundamental data to improve power quality for power utility and customer.
A Study on Digital Fault Locator for Transmission Line

Transmission line is exposed to a large area, and then faults are likely to occur than the other component of power system. When a fault occurs on a transmission line, fault locator helps fast recovery of power supply on power system. This paper deals with the design of a digital fault locator for improvement accuracy of the fault distance estimation and a fault occurrence position for transmission line. The algorithm of a fault locator uses a DC offset removal filter and DFT filter. The algorithm utilizes a fault data of GPS time synchronized. The computed fault information is transmitted to the other side substation through communication. The digital fault locator includes MPU module, ADPU module, SIU module, and a power module. The MMI firmware and software of the fault locator was implemented.

Replacing a manual switch installed in a feeder for a distribution system with an automatic one increases the reliability of the electric power system. This is because the automatic switch can shorten the duration of a fault the customer experiences by splitting the faulty section faster than the manual one does. However, improving the reliability of the distribution system may increase investment costs. Here, the investment costs include automatic switch cost, replacement work cost and labor cost. For this reason, importance should be attached to the proper balance between the increase of the investment costs and the improvement of the reliability of the distribution system. This article analyzed reliability index and economics when manual switches installed in a feeder (RBTS Bus2 model) was replaced by automatic ones. In addition, it attempted to draw the optimum rate of automation of manual switches by automatic ones using the GRG optimization method, considering the current economic requirements.

Adequate input current was obtained by keeping the duty ratio constant without complicated conventional control methods and the improvement of the waveform was increased. Improved Route Search Method Through the Operation Process of the Genetic Algorithm

Proposal algorithm in this paper introduced cells, units of router group, for distributed processing of previous genetic algorithm. This paper presented ways to reduce search delay time of overall network through cell-based genetic algorithm. As a result of performance analysis comparing with existing genetic algorithm through experiments, the proposal algorithm was verified superior in terms of costs and delay time. Furthermore, time for routing an alternative path was reduced in proposal algorithm, in case that a network was damaged in existing optimal path algorithm, Dijkstra algorithm, and the proposal algorithm was designed to route an alternative path faster than Dijkstra algorithm, as it has a 2nd shortest path in cells of the damaged network. The study showed that the proposal algorithm can support routing of alternative path, if Dijkstra algorithm is damaged in a network.
Performance Analysis of Wireless Communication Networks for Smart Metering Implemented with Channel Coding Adopted Multi-Purpose Wireless Communication Chip

Smart metering is one of the most implementable internet-of-thing service. In order to implement the smart metering, a wireless communication network should be newly designed and evaluated so as to satisfy quality-of-service of smart metering. In this paper, we consider a wireless network for the smart metering implemented with multi-purpose wireless chips and channel coding-functioned micro controllers. Especially, channel coding is newly adopted to improve successful frame transmission probability. Based on the successful frame transmission probability, average transmission delay and delay violation probability are analyzed. Using the analytical results, service coverage expansion is evaluated. Through the delay analysis, service feasibility can be verified. According to our results, channel coding needs not to be utilized to improve the delay performance if the smart metering service coverage is several tens of meters. However, if more coverage is required, chanel coding adoption definitely reduces the delay time and improve the service feasibility.

NCS are the contents such as knowledge, technology, and culture demanded for performing the duties in the industrial field systemized by a nation classified with industrial divisions and levels. It is an ability standardized in the national level necessary for performing duties of industrial field successfully. Now, the society structure, due to abrupt change and development, has to secure core ability demanded to human resources in common, irrespective of kinds and positions, and lays an emphasis on vocational basis ability to softly cope with the accelerating change of labor market. This dissertation, on the basis of NCS-based vocational education curriculum, focuses on information ability, computer use ability(information management ability), one of vocational core competency used for the duties related at the department of video & broadcasting to develop learning module. In addition, this dissertation researches learning results such as satisfaction and accomplishment over learning on the object of the students who took the education.
Sensitivity Analysis of the Power System Considering the Load Power Factor While using Direct Load Control

Recently, the power load is growing larger and because of the environmental limitation of generation, the expansion of generation facilities are becoming more difficult. For that reason the importance of the demand-side resources come to be higher. One method of the demand-side resource, the DLC Program, has executed, and moreover, the loads which are available to be controlled are increasing. It should be considered of some kinds of power system components such as DLCs, because the fact that using the demand resources will be an important part of the power system. This paper considers the power factor of the load-bus which is shedded in the direct load control program. and then analyze the power system using flow sensitivity and voltage sensitivity. In this paper, we assumed two scenarios through the rank of the load power factor at each bus and to compare and evaluate each case, we used Power World for the simulation.

The industry-academy-government has understood that because of the relative companies' production and investment, it leads to a supply and demand of manpower and thus will have field centered manpower education. This program will help the problem of lack of manpower in relative companies by establishing competitive major agreement like vocational education system. Also, the university and the participating company in joint have pushed ahead field business education to make the least of industrial-education's mismatch, the training of professional manpower connected with related industries to make the universities chemical characteristics, companies securing excellent manpower and contributed to the revitalization of the regional economy. In this paper, are aware that photovoltaic industry is a future strategic industry for the country, so we will train the immediately site adapting manpower for the area of photovoltaic material and system as our goal. This is shown results of education operation for 4 years.
