Using the Under Voltage Load Shedding for Stability Enhancement of Power Systems Considering Induction Motor Load

Recently, proportion of the induction motor load is gradually increased. When a contingency in the power systems, it has been discovered phenomenon that the voltage is delayed recover caused mechanical characteristics of the induction motor load. It can be a serious impact on the voltage stability of the power system considering induction motor load. The scheme to mitigate this phenomenon tripping off the motors to prevent voltage drop and delayed voltage recovery on the load demand side. Fault induced delayed voltage recovery phenomenon is caused by stalling of small induction motor load in transmission level contingencies. In this paper, fault induced delayed voltage recovery phenomenon mitigation method implementation under voltage load shedding on the korean power system considering induction motor load.
Development of Structural Health Monitoring System based USN for a Huge Infrastructure

With due to the recent development of USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology, a monitoring system has been developing for assuring the structural integrity of infrastructure through normal or long term measurements during their lifetime. An accident such as a collapse of infrastructure may cause not only loss of life but also damage to the economy of the nation. In order to enhance the availability of infrastructure and to be able to maintain their lifetime, it is necessary to monitor and to evaluate continuously the structural integrity throughout their entire lifetime. The purpose of this paper is to develop a monitoring system integrated with evaluation function based on the ubiquitous technology. The most essential part of this study is focusing more on developing a specific module convertible to A/D, which is to enhance the applicability of sensors that had not been applied to existing monitoring systems. Conclusively it has been successfully enhanced to make more diverse the number of sensors and measuring techniques for the monitoring system.
Analysis of Electromagnetic Wave Absorbers for Applying Magnetic Levitation

EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) of the electrical railway must be ensured for safety of passenger. Maglev trains has not friction between the wheels and the rails because levitation by an permanent magnets, electromagnets and superconducting magnets etc. So, it is advantageous to maintain a high speed without noise and vibrations. In this paper, we investigated that the magnetic field of the before and after installation electromagnetic waves absorber in order to analyze the effects of electromagnetic waves. The theoretical analysis of the electromagnetic wave absorber was simulated using finite element method. The magnetic field properties of electromagnetic waves absorber were measured by EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) test receiver.
Fault Location Algorithm in a Two-ended Sources Transmission Line

In order to service restoration and enhance power system reliability, a number of impedance based fault location algorithms have been developed for fault locating in a transmission line. This paper presents an advanced impedance-based fault location algorithms in a two-ended sources transmission line to reduce the DC offset error effects. This fault location algorithm uses of the GPS time synchronized voltage and current signals from the local and remote terminal. The algorithm uses an advanced DC offset removal filter. A series of test results using ATPdraw simulation data show the performance effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm is valid for a two-end sources transmission network.
Analysis of Output Characteristics and Frequency Variation Design for Personal High Frequency Electrical Stimulation Medical Devices

In this paper, personal electrical stimulation medcial devices using bioelectrical stimulating was developed. Therapy effect of RET(resistive electric transfer) was more effective than CET(capacitive electric transfer), but CET was adopted because of safety issue. Then, the optimum parameters that may be effective in thin skin or facial wrinkles was set. For example, the frequency of the pulse voltage for stimulation is 1.8[MHz], burst frequency is 7[kHz] or 400[Hz], the development of devices was to have ON/OFF control and frequency control. When burst frequency was adjusted 7[kHz], heat was generated in the electrode. The case of 400[Hz] the heat was little generated. The microcontroller ATmega128-based experimental results show that the proposed personal high frequency electrical stimulation devices can be applied to medical equipment using therapy effect successfully.
An Analysis on Electric Power Policy through ACMS Model : Focused on the Power Generation Subsidiary Company of the Korea Electric Power Corporation

The purpose of this study is to dimensionally examine the factors of policy changes by applying the ACMS model to KEPCO's structural reorganization privatization policies and study its implications. As a result of the analysis, among the external variables that affect as a financial source or restriction to advocates, all areas except for the difference in opinion of the people as well as policy decision and effects of other subordinate systems were shown to be in an advantageous condition acting as a financial source to advocates of structural reorganization privatization. On the other hand, advocates affected by the external variables share a certain belief system in which the advocates of privatization share the justification of profitability while the advocates of collectivization share the justification of publicness. In these flows, the announcement of the privatization plan of public enterprises of the committee of planning and budgeting acts as a matter of contact which opens the windows for policy changes, and this window goes through ignition, explosion, and fixation which causes fierce interactions among advocates of both sides. Eventually, in accordance with the contents of excluding electricity(KEPCO) from the list for privatization the window for policy changes has closed and things have changed to a transitional KEPCO privatization policy. Based on this, the first implication is that non-official participants such as the people, social organizations, labor unions, etc. influence policy changes more than they did before. Secondly, in the process of policy changes, there is an order of boundary even in the fierce interactions between each advocate. Thirdly, specific variables can play various roles in complex policy phenomenon. Fourthly, a logical analysis using the ACMS model is possible in Korea as well. Fifthly, as a result of analyzing the change process of the KEPCO structural reorganization privatization policy through the ACMS model, not all matched with the main research results implied by the ACMS model.
A Fault Diagnosis Method of Oil-Filled Power Transformers Using IEC Code based Neuro-Fuzzy Model

It has been proven that the dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is the most effective and convenient method to diagnose the transformers. The DGA is a simple, inexpensive, and non intrusive technique. Among the various diagnosis methods, IEC 60599 has been widely used in transformer in service. But this method cannot offer accurate diagnosis for all the faults. This paper proposes a fault diagnosis method of oil-filled power transformers using IEC code based neuro-fuzzy model. The proposed method proceeds two steps. First, IEC 60599 method is applied to diagnosis. If IEC code can't determine the fault type, neuro-fuzzy model is applied to effectively classify the fault type. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, experiment is performed and its results are illustrated.
Fault Locator using GPS Time-synchronized Phasor for Transmission Line

Fault location identification in the transmission line is an essential part of quick service restoration for maintaining a stable in power system. The application of digital schemes to protection IEDs has led to the development of digital fault locators. Normally, the impedance measurement had been used to for the location detection of transmission line faults. It is well known that the most accurate fault location scheme uses two-ended measurements. This paper deals with the complete design of a fault locator using GPS time-synchronized phasor for transmission line fault detection. The fault location algorithm uses the transmitted relaying signals from the two-ended terminal. The fault locator hardware consists of a Main Processor Unit, Analog Digital Processor Unit, Signal Interface Unit, and Power module. In this paper, sample real-time test cases using COMTRADE format of Omicron apparatus are included. We can see that the implemented fault locator identified all the test faults.

Because of the low pollution resistance of the porcelain electrical insulator itself, in this work the anti-pollution performance of insulator was improved by using the functional coating. The ceramic substrates that components were same as the porcelain electrical insulator were used in this experiment. The functional films were coated on the ceramic substrate by using a spray coating method, and then the coated substrate were annealed under different coating condition such as natural curing and annealing temperature of

. The anti-contamination properties were measured, revealing that as the contact angle decreased, the anti-contamination properties improved. The hardness and adhesion were small at the natural curing condition however the excellent mechanical properties were obtained under higher temperature annealing.
Process Improvement of PCB Electric Circuit Pattern by Ink Drop Jetting Control and Characteristics Analysis of Industrial Inkjet Piezoelectric Print Head

This paper was analyzed the characteristics of piezoelectric inkjet print head using finite element method(FEM). It showed the bending node driving of piezoelectric and relation theory principle consider piezoelectric material characteristics and ink characteristics. From such result we were had the piezoelectric head design and manufacture. It got a this head characteristics through experiment, we confirmed that proper voltage control is possible to through ink drop control experiment of piezoelectric print head. This paper was obtained the suitable ink jetting characteristics that manufacture the control circuit and piezoelectric inkjet print head. This practice product was applied to improvement of PCB electric circuit pattern by etching resist ink that PCB manufactured to complex process over traditional 6 stages can be simpled to 1 stage by inkjet printing technology.
Pedestrian Detection using RGB-D Information and Distance Transform

According to the development of depth sensing devices and depth estimation technology, depth information becomes more important for object detection in computer vision. In terms of recognition rate, pedestrian detection methods have been improved more accurately. However, the methods makes slower detection time. So, many researches have overcome this problem by using GPU. Here, we propose a real-time pedestrian detection algorithm that does not rely on GPU. First, the depth-weighted distance map is used for detecting expected human regions. Next, human detection is performed on the regions. The performance for the proposed approach is evaluated and compared with the previous methods. We show that proposed method can detect human about 7 times faster than conventional ones.
A Study on Folded Monopole Antenna with Spiral Shape for Wireless DVI Dongle Applications

In this paper, we proposes a internal antenna for wireless DVI dongle device using the folded monopole structure. The proposed antenna uses a basic structure of spiral and monopole. The antenna optimized for parameters length, gap, width, and rectangle of folded monopole antenna using the spiral structure. To confirm the characteristics of the antenna parameters, HFSS from ANSYS Inc. was used for the analysis. We used an FR4 dielectric substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4. The DVI dongle size of the proposed antenna is

. There is a value of return loss less then -10dB in 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, band and the maximum antenna gain is -4.13dBi. The utilization possibility of the wireless DVI Dongle antenna have a folded monopole with spiral shape could be confirmed according to compare and analyze the simulation and measurement data.
