Effect of Synchronization Errors with Distributed Beamforming in OFDM Systems

Three synchronization issues, i.e., symbol time, phase, and frequency, have to be properly controlled to achieve distributed beamforming gain. In this paper, the impacts of synchronization errors in distributed beamforming are analyzed for OFDM systems. For symbol timing error of cooperating signals, high frequency subcarriers are more susceptible as compared to low frequency ones. The desired signal loss due to phase and frequency offset is independent of subcarrier number. However, frequency offset is critical in OFDM systems since it leads to interference from the other subcarriers as well as power loss in the desired signal. Performance degradation due to three synchronization errors is shown with various numbers of cooperating signals and offset values. It shows that the performance analysis is well matched with simulation results.
QoS improving method of Smart Grid Application using WMN based IEEE 802.11s

Wireless Mesh Network(WMN) has drawn much attention due to easy deployment and good scalability. Recently, major power utilities have been focusing on R&D to apply WMN technology in Smart Grid Network. Smart Grid is an intelligent electrical power network that can maximize energy efficiency through bidirectional communication between utility providers and customers with ICT(Information Communication Technology). It is necessary to guarantee QoS of some important data in Smart Grid system such as real-time data delivery. In this paper, we suggest QoS enhancement method for WMN based Smart Grid system using IEEE 802.11s. We analyze Smart Grid Application characteristics and apply IEEE 802.11s WMN scheme for Smart Grid in domestic power communication system. Performance evaluation is progressed using NS-2 simulator implementing IEEE 802.11s. The simulation results show that the QoS enhancement scheme can guarantee stable bandwidth irrespective of traffic condition due to IEEE 802.11s reservation mechanism.
Performance Improvement of Retrodirective Antenna System using Turbo Equalizer

A digital RDA(Retrodirective Antenna) system is a retransmit system that received signal without prior information turn back by estimated phase of the signal to received direction. The RDA can decrease consumption of power by increase of directivity because signal concentrates on received direction compare to omni-direction antenna which transmit power all direction. Generally, the RDA is known to show better performance than the single-antenna system in multi-path environment. However, the RDA occurs performance degradation in serious ISI channel. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose retrodirective antenna combined with turbo equalizer combined which can compensate serious ISI channel, we increase the BER performance through proposed retrodirective antenna combined with turbo equalizer in serious ISI channel.
Performance Evaluation of a Novel Chaos Transceiver for the High Level Modulation

Security of chaos communication system that has characteristic of sensitive initial conditions is superior to digital communication systems, but BER(Bit Error Rate) performance is evaluatied badly. So, studies in order to improve the BER performance is important. existing studies, BER performance of proposed chaos transceiver is possible to improve than the CDSK(Correlation Delay Shift Keying) system because it has characteristic that has very few addition elements like noise signal except for the desired signal. Chaos communication system has many symbols because it spreads according to characteristic of chaos map. Therefore, study that can have the good data rate in chaos communication system is required. Information bits of existing chaos modulation system are modulated as -1 and 1 on the basis of BPSK system. However, instead of BPSK system, if chaos communication system is applied high level modulation systems such as QPSK system and 16QAM system, it is possible to have good data rate because more data are transmitted at a time. In the paper, when QPSK system and 16QAM system are applied to proposed chaos transceiver in existing study, we evaluate the SER(Symbol Error Rate) performance and compare the each performance. Also, when QPSK system and 16QAM system are applied to proposed chaos transceiver, we evaluate the anti-jamming performance of proposed system.
False Alarm Probability of the Spectrum Sensing Scheme Using the Maximum of Power Spectrum

Recently, a lot of research efforts has been directed toward spectrum sensing techniques exploiting the some characteristics of power spectrum. Among them, a sensing technique employing the maximum of power spectrum as a test statistic has appeared in the literature and its false alarm probability was also derived under the assumption that the test statistic follows the Gaussian distribution. This paper provides an exact form of the false alarm probability without using the assumption and compares it with the previous work.
Design of Wilkinson Power Divider for nth Harmonic Suppression

A modified network to suppress the nth harmonics in a Wilkinson power divider is presented. The solution has been found by adding transmission lines, whose electrical lengths are determined by using the suppression terms, between two transformers of the traditional design. Experimental results show the second and third harmonics levels achieved are -45.3 and -46.4 dB, respectively, while the performance of the power divider at the fundamental frequency is maintained.

In this paper, unit cell and arrayed cover for improving the transfer efficiency of resonant wireless power transfer system is proposed. We used the characteristic of zero refractive index for focusing a magnetic field between the transmitting resonator and receiving resonator. And proposed WPT system has a transfer efficiency high than 90 % over the overall distances.
High gain and High Efficiency Power Amplifier Using Controlling Gate and Drain Bias Circuit for WPT

In this paper, a high-efficiency power amplifier is implemented using a gate and drain bias control circuit for WPT (Wireless Power Transmission). This control circuit has been employed to improve the PAE (Power Added Efficiency). The gate and drain bias control circuits consists of a directional coupler, power detector, and operation amplifier. A high gain two-stage amplifier using a drive amplifier is used for the low input stage of the power amplifier. The proposed power amplifier that uses a gate and drain bias control circuit can have high efficiency at a low and high power level. The PAE has been improved up to 80.5%.
Secure Inner Product Encryption Scheme with Attribute Hiding in Bilinear Groups

Inner product encryption (IPE) scheme is a cryptographic primitive that provides fine grained relations between secret keys and ciphertexts. This paper proposes a new IPE scheme which achieves fully attribute hiding security. Our IPE scheme is based on bilinear groups of a composite order. We prove the fully attribute hiding security of our IPE by using dual encryption system framework. In performance analysis, we compare the computation cost and memory requirement of our proposed IPE to other existing IPE schemes.
A Study on 1-Channel Monopulse Receiver

In this paper, we proposed the 1-channel monopulse receiver which has the new configuration and described the operation procedures. Also, we compared and analyzed the proposal receiver and the general 3-channel monopulse receiver. As a result, it is apparent that the monopulse ratio of the proposal receiver is equal to that of the 3-channel monopulse receiver. The proposal receiver achieve the simple receiver configuration and the simple tracking procedures, as contrasted with the 3-channel monopulse receiver. Also, the proposal receiver has advantages in terms of size, weight, cost and power. Because the proposal monopulse receiver require 1-channel receiver and need not the signal processor in comparison with 3-channel monopulse receiver which require 3-channel receiver and need the signal processor.

It has been an increase in consumers who want a high-capacity and fast speed by the newly diffused mobile device(Smart phones, Ultra books, Tablet PC). As a result, the demand for Flash Memory is constantly increasing. Flash Memory is separated by a NAND-type and NOR-type. NAND-type Flash Memory speed is slow, but price is cheaper than the NOR-type Flash Memory. For this reason, NAND-type Flash Memory is widely used in the mobile market. Linearization Technique for Bang-Bang Digital Phase Locked-Loop by Optimal Loop Gain Control

This paper presents a practical linearization technique for a wide-band bang-bang digital phase locked-loop(BBDPLL) by selecting optimal loop gains. In this paper, limitation of the theoretical design method for BBDPLL is explained, and introduced how to implement practical BBDPLLs with CMOS process. In the proposed BBDPLL, the limited cycle noise is removed by reducing the proportional gain while increasing the integer array and dither gain. Comparing to the conventional BBDPLL, the proposed one shows a small area, low power, linear characteristic. Moreover, the proposed design technique can control a loop bandwidth of the BBDPLL. Performance of the proposed BBDPLL is verified using CppSim simulator.
A Clock-Data Recovery using a 1/8-Rate Phase Detector

In this paper, a clock-data recovery using a 1/8-rate phase detector is proposed. The use of a conventional full or half-rate phase detector requires relatively higher frequency of a recovered clock, which is a burden on the design of a sampling circuit and a VCO. In this paper, a 1/8-rate phase detector is used to lower the frequency of the recovered clock and a linear equalizer is used as a input circuit of a phase detector to reduce the jitter of the recovered clock. A test chip fabricated in a 0.13-
CMOS process is measured at 1.5-GHz for a 3-Gb/s PRBS input and 1.2-V power supply.
Reduced-bit transform based block matching algorithm via SAD

The reduced-bit transform based bit-plane matching algorithm (BPM) can obtain the block matching result through its simple calculation and hardware design compared to the conventional block matching algorithms (BMAs), but the block matching accuracy of BPMs is somewhat low. In this paper, reduced-bit transform based sum of the absolute difference (R-SAD) is proposed to improve the block matching accuracy in comparison with the conventional BPMs and it is shown that the matching process can be obtained using the logical operations. Firstly, this method transforms the current and the reference images into their respective 2-bit images and then a truth table is obtained from the relation between input and output 2-bit images. Next, a truth table is simplified by Karnaugh map and the absolute difference is calculated by using simple logical operations. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed R-SAD can obtain higher accuracy in block matching results compared to the conventional BPMs through the PSNR analysis in the motion compensation experiments.
An Adaptive Road ROI Determination Algorithm for Lane Detection

Road conditions can provide important information for driving safety in driving assistance systems. The input images usually include unnecessary information and they need to be analyzed only in a region of interest (ROI) to reduce the amount of computation. In this paper, a vision-based road ROI determination algorithm is proposed to detect the road region using the positional information of a vanishing point and line segments. The line segments are detected using Canny's edge detection and Hough transform. The vanishing point is traced by a Kalman filter to reduce the false detection due to noises. The road ROI can be determined automatically and adaptively in every frame after initialization. The proposed method is implemented using C++ and the OpenCV library, and the road ROIs are obtained from various video images of black boxes. The results show that the proposed algorithm is robust.
Lane Detection System Development based on Android using Optimized Accumulator Cells

In the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of smart vehicle and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for to detect the boundary of lane is being studied a lot of Hough Transform. This method detects correctly recognition the lane. But recognition rate can fall due to detecting straight lines outside of the lane. In order to solve this problems, this paper proposed an algorithm to recognize the lane boundaries and the accumulator cells in Hough space. Based on proposed algorithm, we develop application for Android was developed by H/W verification. Users of smart phone devices could use lane detection and lane departure warning systems for driver's safety whenever and wherever. Software verification using the OpenCV showed efficiency recognition correct rate of 93.8% and hardware real-time verification for an application development in the Android phone showed recognition correct rate of 70%.
Histogram Matching-based Power Reduction Technique for OLED Display

In this paper, we propose the histogram matching-based power reduction technique considering the perceptual image quality. The conventional methods cannot analyze the clipping error of an image, and hence, they significantly degrade the image quality when pixels with the clipping error are concentrated on small area. The proposed method generates histograms for various images with different characteristics, and it calculates and stores the optimal clipping rate in a database. Then, it compares the histograms with that of an input image, and selects the histogram and clipping rate with the minimum difference to prevent the image quality degradation. In the experimental results, the proposed method improved the average PSNR and SSIM by up to 15.795 dB and 0.036, compared with the conventional methods.
Image Dehazing using Transmission Map Based on Hidden Markov Random Field Model

This paper proposes an image haze removal algorithm for a single image. The conventional Dark Channel Prior(DCP) algorithm estimates a transmission map using the dark information in an image, and the haze regions are then detected using a matting algorithm. However, since the DCP algorithm uses block-based processing, block artifacts are invariably formed in the transmission map. To solve this problem, the proposed algorithm generates a modified transmission map using a Hidden Markov Random Field(HMRF) and Expectation-Maximization(EM) algorithm. Experimental results confirm that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional algorithms in image haze removal.
Moire Reduction in Digital Still Camera by Using Inflection Point in Frequency Domain

Digital still camera generally uses optical low-pass filter(OLPF) to enhance its image quality because it removes high spatial frequencies causing aliasing. However, the use of OLPF causes some loss of detail. On the other hand, when image are captured by using no OLPF, the moir
is generally existed in high spatial frequency region of an image. Therefore, in this paper, moir
reduction method in case of using no OLPF is suggested. To detect the moir
, spatial frequency response(SFR) of camera was firstly analyzed by using ISO 12233 resolution chart. Then, moir
region is detected by using the patterns that are related to the SFR of camera. next, this region is analysed in the frequency domain. Then, the moir
is reduced by removing its frequency component, which represents inflection point between high frequency and DC components. Through the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method can achieve moir
reduction with preserving the detail.
A Selection of Threshold for the Generalized Hough Transform: A Probabilistic Approach

When the Hough transform is applied to identify an instance of a given model, the output is typically a histogram of votes cast by a set of image features into a parameter space. The next step is to threshold the histogram of counts to hypothesize a given match. The question is "What is a reasonable choice of the threshold?" In a standard implementation of the Hough transform, the threshold is selected heuristically, e.g., some fraction of the highest cell count. Setting the threshold too low can give rise to a false alarm of a given shape(Type I error). On the other hand, setting the threshold too high can result in mis-detection of a given shape(Type II error). In this paper, we derive two conditional probability functions of cell counts in the accumulator array of the generalized Hough transform(GHough), that can be used to select a scientific threshold at the peak detection stage of the Ghough.
Frequency Response Analysis of Common-Source Amplifier Using the Exact Modeling of Miller Effect

This paper presents a new model of the Miller effect. The new Miller effect model is obtained from the accurate AC gain which includes the effect of the output capacitance of the common-source (CS) amplifier. The new Miller effect model consists of the series connection of a capacitance and a parallel RC circuit, one at the input and the other at the output. The frequency response obtained by the new Miller effect model is equal to that obtained from the original circuit. Even though the new model is complicated, the 3-dB frequency can be easily estimated by using the open-circuit time constants method without the node analysis.
Vt Close Curve Analysis for Improving Address Discharge Characteristics in Open Dielectric Structure of AC PDP

The discharge characteristics of an open dielectric structure were investigated, especially such as a firing voltage and related wall voltage, compared with conventional panel structure based on the Vt close curve measurement in AC plasma display panel. While the front panel of the conventional structure in AC plasma display panel was composed of the glass, electrodes, and dielectric, the open dielectric structure could easily produce the discharge between the scan and the sustain electrodes by erasing the dielectric layer between two electrodes. As the open dielectric structure differ from the conventional structure, various problems were produced when driving with the conventional driving waveform. Especially, due to the changes in the discharge firing characteristics of the open dielectric structure between the scan and the sustain electrodes on the front panel, the conventional reset waveform including the address waveform needed to be modified. In this study, the Vt close curves were measured to compare the discharge firing voltages on three electrodes in the conventional and open dielectric structure and based on the Vt close curve analysis, the modified driving waveform suitable for the open dielectric structure was proposed.
Classification Model of Chronic Gastritis According to The Feature Extraction Method of Radial Artery Pulse Signal

One in every 10 persons suffer from chronic gastritis in Korea. Endoscopy is most commonly used to diagnose the chronic gastritis. Endoscopic diagnosis is precise but it is accompanied with pain and high cost. According to pulse diagnosis in Traditional East Asian Medicine, health problems in stomach can be diagnosed with radial pulse signals in 'Guan' location in the right wrist, which are non-invasive and cost-effective. In this study, we developed a classification model of chronic gastritis using pulse signals in right 'Guan' location. We used both linear discrimination method and logistic regression model with respect to pulse features obtained with a peak-valley detection algorithm and a Gaussian model. As a result, we obtained sensitivity ranged between 77%~89% and specificity ranged between 72%~83% depending on classification models and feature extraction methods, and the average classification rates were approximately 80%, irrespective of the models. Specifically, the Gaussian model were featured by superior sensitivities (89.1% and 87.5%) while the peak-valley detection method showed superior specificities (82.8% and 81.3%), and the average classification rate (sensitivity + specificity) of the Gaussian model was 80.9% which was 1.2% ahead of the peak-valley method. In conclusion, we obtained a reliable classification model for the chronic gastritis based on the radial pulse feature extraction algorithms, where the Gaussian model was featured by outperformed sensitivity and the peak-valley method was featured by outperformed specificity.
Design of pRBFNNs Pattern Classifier-based Face Recognition System Using 2-Directional 2-Dimensional PCA Algorithm

In this study, face recognition system was designed based on polynomial Radial Basis Function Neural Networks(pRBFNNs) pattern classifier using 2-directional 2-dimensional principal component analysis algorithm. Existing one dimensional PCA leads to the reduction of dimension of image expressed by the multiplication of rows and columns. However
(2-Directional 2-Dimensional Principal Components Analysis) is conducted to reduce dimension to each row and column of image. and then the proposed intelligent pattern classifier evaluates performance using reduced images. The proposed pRBFNNs consist of three functional modules such as the condition part, the conclusion part, and the inference part. In the condition part of fuzzy rules, input space is partitioned with the aid of fuzzy c-means clustering. In the conclusion part of rules. the connection weight of RBFNNs is represented as the linear type of polynomial. The essential design parameters (including the number of inputs and fuzzification coefficient) of the networks are optimized by means of Differential Evolution. Using Yale and AT&T dataset widely used in face recognition, the recognition rate is obtained and evaluated. Additionally IC&CI Lab dataset is experimented with for performance evaluation.

Friction force on robot systems is highly nonlinear and especially disturbs precise control of the robots at low speed. This paper deals with the dynamic friction compensation problem of a well-known one-link benchmark robot system. We consider the LuGre model because the model can successfully represent dynamic characteristics and various effects of friction phenomenon. The proposed controller is constructed as two parts. An adaptive controller based on dual observers is used to estimate and compensate the dynamic friction. In order to attenuate the friction estimation error and other disturbances, PI observer is additionally designed. Through the computer simulations with the benchmark system, this paper first examines the effects of nonlinear dynamic friction on the control performance of the benchmark robot system. Next, it is shown that the control performance against the dynamic friction is improved by using the proposed controller.
A Study of Shielding Property of Magnetic Field for the Film Impregnated with Soft Magnetic Powder

In this paper the magnetic field properties of the soft magnetic alloys (Fe-Si-Cr and Fe-Ni-Cr) are studied in advance for the development of electro-magnetic shielding films, which could be used in the IT Devices (NFC, mobile phone, computer, etc.).As a result each of the selected soft magnetic alloy melts of the corresponding compositions is water-dispersed into the disk-shaped grains, which are soaked in polymer resin, and of which two types of thin film of thickness 0.1mm and 1mm are made by passing through the heating calendar roller. And the magnetic permeability and the shielding effectiveness of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains are measured over the whole frequency bands from the low frequency to 10GHz. Before the experiments of the soft magnetic alloy, a special equation is proposed to estimate the permeability of the alloy, and the equation is verified with the pre-published data by MATLAB, and from which the most optimal compositions can be decided. And the SE(Shielding Effectiveness) of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains is simulated by the HFSS.
Development of Particle Detection Chamber for Particle Counter

In this paper, we study the scattering characteristics of particle using Mie scattering based on various variables such as particle size and refraction of particle, wavelength of laser and angle of receiver to get diffuse light. And we consist a optical system for particle detection, then analyzed the characteristics of the optical system. And based on these characteristics, we develop a particle detection chamber for particle counter and shows experiment result.
Zero Cerenkov Radiation Angle Effect in Optical Parametric Amplification in the Cerenkov-idler Configuration

Optical parametric amplification has been analyzed for the Cerenkov-idler configuration in planar waveguides. The coupled-mode theory is employed for the analysis. The coupled-mode equations are derived and the approximate analytic solution is obtained for no pump depletion. From the analytic solution, it is shown that the signal power gain can be enhanced as the Cerenkov radiation angle of the idler approaches to zero. The numerical example is also shown for the effect of the Cerenkov radiation angle approaching zero.
Implementation of U-Healthcare System for Chronic Disease Management

According to the recent increasing trend of the ages, numbers of patients with chronic diseases are increasing and issues for health care are importantly emerged. In this thesis the research implements U-health care system for health care of patients with chronic diseases. The suggested system for health care of patients with chronic diseases composes bio measurement system, mobile gateway and medical information management server, and bio-signals are composed with modules such as electrocardiogram, blood pressure, blood sugar, oxygen saturation if configured as client. Blood sugar check was considered and implemented to be chosen the ways to transmit through bio measurement system or through gateway. Suggested bio measurement system and mobile gateway are transmitted through Bluetooth. The transmitted biodata is searched by observing health check through mobile gateway, by transmitting through network server, and by using client. By implementing bio signal observation system of patients with chronic diseases, present health check is available by monitoring measured bio data, and various bio signals are transmitted in the mobile environment.
