Performance Analysis of D2D system Considering users' locations under the Overlay Convergent Networks of Cognitive Networking

In this paper, the performances of the presented D2D (device-to-device) systems under the environment of the cognitive convergent overlay networks are evaluated based upon the locations of the D2D users' terminals, the power consumptions of the terminals and the reductions of the interference levels. As the capabilities of the users' terminals improve, the optimization of the system is crucial to the efficient utilization of the radio resources of the individual networks considering their mobility and the features of their networks. Users' mobility model is given for the performance evaluation of the D2D system. In this paper, the performances of the D2D systems are evaluated in terms of the performance index of the FER (frame error rate) employing multiantenna techniques (MIMO:multiple input multiple output) for the various network environments.
Spatial Modulation Transmission Scheme with Pre-coder for High Data Rates

In this paper, a novel transmission scheme is proposed to improve the data rates of spatial modulation (SM) which has low complexity and improves the spectral efficiency in correlated channel environments. The conventional SM scheme utilizes partial multiple antennas to transmit signal constellations and additional bits using antenna combinations. Therefore the channel capacity of SM is less than that of the conventional multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) scheme which uses all the available antennas. In this paper, an SM transmission scheme is proposed to improve the channel capacity using a tight frame pre-coder. The improvement in channel capacity of the SM scheme will be shown using computer simulations.

The spatial correlation (SC) for a multipath environment based on a
MIMO system are computed on the observation planes in the Rayleigh/Rician fading channels inside a mode stirred chamber. The correlation coefficients were obtained and compared for different distances and orthogonal polarization between two transmit antennas. The proposed method is useful for quantifying the potential diversity gain in antenna diversity systems.
Reliable Methods of Interoperability between Packet Transport Networks and IP Networks

With the economical data service delivery, the packet transport network (PTN) technologies have emerged as an important player in the next-generation transport networks. As the PTN continues to make such considerable progress, it is being challenged by network providers who need rapid and reliable recovery capabilities to guarantee the availability of their services. This paper introduces several fault detection mechanisms for a client signal failure in packet transport networks and proposes a reliable transmission method of IP flows from routers using the combination of Ethernet services. Based on the first fault detection methods, client signal fault is detected within tens or hundreds of milliseconds. It enables the client network devices to perform their own recovery processes within one second. The second mechanism enables failed Ethernet services to be bypassed via other Ethernet services over disjoint paths, so as to contribute on reducing packet loss of IP traffic.

In full-duplex wireless communication, spectral efficiency can be improved over half-duplex communication system. In this paper, we consider full-duplex multiple-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in which inter-user interference may degrade the performance of the full-duplex system. We propose a downlink power allocation technique at base station that can maximize the spectral efficiency only with the statistical information about the inter-user interference channel.

In this paper, the performance of the interference cancellation using multiple receive antennas is evaluated for heterogeneous cellular systems when user association and load balancing problems are optimized for cell edge users. The simulation results show that the interference cancellation method remarkably improves the rate performance of load-balanced cells.

This paper proposes an architecture of
order SDM(Sigma-Delta Modulator) with delayed feed-forward path in order to reduce the power consumption and area. The proposed SDM improve the architecture of conventional
order SDM which consists of two integrators. The proposed architecture can increase the coefficient values of first stage doubly by inserting the delayed feed-forward path. Accordingly, compared with the conventional architecture, the capacitor value(
) of first integrator is reduced by half. Thus, because the load capacitance of first integrator became the half of original value, the output current of first op-amp is reduced as 51% and the capacitance area of first integrator is reduced as 48%. Therefore, the proposed method can optimize the power and the area. The proposed architecture in this paper is simulated under conditions which are supply voltage of 1.8V, input signal 1Vpp/1KHz, signal bandwidth of 24KHz and sampling frequency of 2.8224MHz in the 0.18um CMOS process. A Reconfigurable Multiplier Architecture Based on Memristor-CMOS Technology

Multiplier performs a complex arithmetic operation in various signal processing algorithms such as multimedia and communication system. The multiplier also suffers from its relatively large signal propagation delay, high power dissipation, and large area requirement. This paper presents memristor-CMOS based reconfigurable multiplier reducing area occupation of the multiplier circuitry and increasing compatibility using optimized bit-width for various applications. The performance of the memristor-CMOS based reconfigurable multiplier are estimated with memristor SPICE model and 180 nm CMOS process under 1.8 V supply voltage. The circuit shows performance improvement of 61% for area, 38% for delay and 28% for power consumption respectively compared with the conventional reconfigurable multipliers. It also has an advantage for area reduction of 22% against a twin-precision multiplier.
Pipeline-Aware QC-IRA-LDPC Code and Efficient Decoder Architecture

This paper presents a method for constructing a pipeline-aware quasi-cyclic irregular repeat accumulate low-density parity-check (PA-QC-IRA-LDPC) codes and efficient rate-1/2 (2016, 1008) PA-QC-IRA-LDPC decoder architecture. A novel pipeline scheduling method is proposed. The proposed methods efficiently reduce the critical path using pipeline without any bit error rate (BER) degradation. The proposed pipeline-aware LDPC decoder provides a significant improvement in terms of throughput, hardware efficiency, and energy efficiency. Synthesis and layout of the proposed architecture is performed using 90-nm CMOS standard cell technology. The proposed architecture shows more than 53% improvement of area efficiency and much better energy efficiency compared to the previously reported architectures.
Design of Low Noise Readout Circuit for 2-D Capacitive Microbolometer FPAs

A low-noise readout circuit is studied for 2-D capacitive microbolometer focal plane arrays (FPAs). In spite of the merits of the integration method, a simple and effective pixelwise readout circuit without integration is used for input circuit because of a small pixel size and narrow noise bandwidth. To reduce the power consumption and the kT/C noise, which is the dominant noise of the capacitive microbolometer FPAs with small capacitance, a new correlated double sampling (CDS) is used for columnwise circuit. . The proposed circuit effectively reduces the kT/C noise and the other low-frequency noise of microbolometer, and the noise characteristics of the fabricated chip have been verified by measurements. The rms noise voltage of the proposed circuit is reduced from 30 % to 55 % compared to that of the simple readout input circuit, and the noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) of the proposed circuit is very low value of 21.5 mK.
A Receiver for Dual-Channel CIS Interfaces

This paper describes a dual channel receiver design for CIS interfaces. Each channel includes CTLE(Continuous Time Linear Equalizer), sampler, deserializer and clocking circuit. The clocking circuit is composed of PLL, PI and CDR. Fast lock acquisition time, short latency and better jitter tolerance are achieved by adding OSPD(Over Sampling Phase Detector) and FSM(Finite State Machine) to PI-based CDR. The CTLE removes ISI caused by channel with -6 dB attenuation and the lock acquisition time of the CDR is below 1 baud period in frequency offset under 8000ppm. The voltage margin is 368 mV and the timing margin is 0.93 UI in eye diagram using 65 nm CMOS technology.
Pre-Packing, Early Fixation, and Multi-Layer Density Analysis in Analytic Placement for FPGAs

Previous academic research on FPGA tools has relied on simple imaginary models for the targeting architecture. As the first step to overcome such restriction, the issues on analytic placement and legalization which are applied to commercial FPGAs have been brought up, and several techniques to remedy them are presented, and evaluated. First of all, the center of gravity of the placed cells may be far displaced from the center of the chip during analytic placement. A function is proposed to be added to the objective function for minimizing this displacement. And then, the density map is expanded into multiple layers to accurately calculate the density distribution for each of the cell types. Early fixation is also proposed for the memory blocks which can be placed at limited sites in small numbers. Since two flip-flops share control pins in a slice, a compatibility constraint is introduced during legalization. Pre-packing compatible flip-flops is proposed as a proactive step. The proposed techniques are implemented on the K-FPGA fabric evaluation framework in which commercial architectures can be precisely modeled, and modified for enhancement, and validated on twelve industrial strength examples. The placement results show that the proposed techniques have reduced the wire length by 22%, and the slice usage by 5% on average. This research is expected to be a development basis of the optimization CAD tools for new as well as the state-of-the-art FPGA architectures.
A Hybrid Search Method of A* and Dijkstra Algorithms to Find Minimal Path Lengths for Navigation Route Planning

In navigation route planning systems using A* algorithms, the cardinality of an Open list, which is a list of candidate nodes through which a terminal node can be accessed, increases as the path length increases. In this paper, a method of alternately utilizing the Dijkstra's algorithm and the A* algorithm to reduce the cardinality of the Open list is investigated. In particular, by employing a depth parameter, named Level, the two algorithms are alternately performed depending on the Level's value. Using the hybrid searching approach, the Open list constructed in the Dijkstra's algorithm is transferred into the Open list of the A* algorithm, and consequently, the unconstricted increase of the cardinality of the Open list of the former algorithm can be avoided and controlled appropriately. In addition, an optimal or nearly optimal path similar to the Dijkstra's route, but not available in the A* algorithm, can be found. The experimental results, obtained with synthetic and real-life benchmark data, demonstrate that the computational cost, measured with the number of nodes to be compared, was remarkably reduced compared to the traditional searching algorithms, while maintaining the similar distance to those of the latter algorithms. Here, the values of Level were empirically selected. Thus, a study on finding the optimal Level values, while taking into consideration the actual road conditions remains open.
DNA Information Hiding Method for DNA Data Storage

DNA data storage refers to any technique for storing massive digital data in base sequence of DNA and has been recognized as the future storage medium recently. This paper presents an information hiding method for DNA data storage that the massive data is hidden in non-coding strand based on DNA steganography. Our method maps the encrypted data to the data base sequence using the numerical mapping table and then hides it in the non-coding strand using the key that consists of the seed and sector length. Therefore, our method can preserve the protein, extract the hidden data without the knowledge of host DNA sequence, and detect the position of mutation error. Experimental results verify that our method has more high data capacity than conventional methods and also detects the positions of mutation errors by the parity bases.

Recently, although exponentially growing the quantity of information that have been used and shared on internet networks, the patient information of each medical center have not been used and shared among medical centers due to the protection of patients privacy and the different database schema. To address this problem, we have studied the data structure of the patient information, the standard of medical information for patients we propose a patient information sharing system design that each medical center is able to use and share the patient information among medical centers in spite of different patient information systems with protecting patients privacy.
A Clustering Technique of Radar Signals using 4-Dimensional Features

The Electronic Support System collects and analyzes the received radar signals in order to cope with the electronic attack in real-time. The radar-pulse clustering system classifies the radar signals that are considered to be emitted by a single source. This paper proposed a radar-pulse clustering algorithm based on four kinds of features: the direction, frequency, pulse width, and the difference of arrival time between two successive pulses. The experiment results show that the proposing algorithm could trace the moving emitter and classify the timely separated signals into different classes.

In this paper, we present a non-dyadic lens distortion correction model and image restoration method based on local self-similarity to remove jagging and blurring artifacts in the peripheral region of the geometrically corrected image. The proposed method can be applied in various application areas including vehicle real-view cameras, visual surveillance systems, and medical imaging systems.
Edge and Relative RMD Cost based Fast Intra Prediction Mode Decision in HEVC

In this paper, there is suggested a fast intra prediction mode decision method in HEVC. To reduce the number of candidates in rough mode decision (RMD) process and rate-distortion optimization (RDO) process, the edge information and relative RMD cost are utilized. The experiment results show that the proposed method reduces encoding run-time by 26.81% with a negligible coding loss of 0.79% BD-rate on average.
Source Localization Based on Independent Doublet Array

A single near-field sounde source bearing and ranging method based on a independent doublet array is proposed. In the common case of bearing estimation method, unform linear array or uniform circular array are used. It is constrained retaining aperture because of array structure to estimate the distance of the sound source. Recent using independent doublet array sound source's bearing and distance esmtimation method is proposed by wide aperture. It is limited to the case doublets are located on a straight line. In this paper, we generalize the case and estimate the localization of a sound source in the various array structure. The proposed algorithm was verified performance through simulation.
Implementation of Position Sensorless Stroke Controller of Linear Compressors with Motor Parameter Identification

In this paper, a motor parameter identification system has been implemented to improve the performance of the position sensorless stroke controller for linear compressors. In order to control the cooling capability of a refrigerator or an air conditioner in which linear compressors are applied, the piston speed should be controlled. The piston speed control can be obtained by adjusting the frequency or the stroke of linear motors. The dynamic performance of linear compressors depends on how accurately the stroke or the piston amplitude is estimated. The merits and demerits of Constant method and PIM (Parameter Identification Method) concerning the needed memory space and the stroke error are discussed and verified via some experimental studies.
Autonomous Parking of Car-Like Mobile Robot Using Docking Formation

For a autonomous parking of unmanned car, this paper proposes a posture regulation algorithm of a car-like mobile robot, which is supported by a docking formation and a feedback linearization control law. Unlike the previous researches based on a path-planning and optimization algorithms, the autonomous car implemented the proposed autonomous parking algorithm can be parked without much computational burden and a high performance processor. Stability of the proposed docking formation and feedback linearization control law are analyzed and performance of the proposed algorithm is shown by implementing to the simulations with six scenarios and an actual car in the experiment place.
Mobile Advanced Driver Assistance System using OpenCL : Pedestrian Detection

This paper proposes a mobile-optimized pedestrian detection method using Cascade of HOG(Histograms of Oriented Gradients) for ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) on smartphones. In order to use the limited resource of mobile platforms efficiently, the method is implemented by the OpenCL(Open Computing Language) library, and its processing time is reduced in the following two aspects. Firstly, the method sets a program build option specifically and adjusts work group sizes as variety of kernels in the host code. Secondly, it utilizes local memory and a LUT(Look-Up Table) in the kernel code to accelerate the program. For performance evaluation, the developed algorithm is compared with the mobile CPU-based OpenCV(Open Computer Vision) for Android function. The experimental results show that the processing speed is 25% faster than the OpenCV hogcascade.
Design of Safety and Arming Device of the Fuze using Solenoid for Improving Safety

The safety and arming device(SAD), one of the components of the fuzes, shall provide safety that is consistent with handling, storage, transportation, use, and disposal. In this paper, we describes the design of the SAD which includes the solenoid assembly and the solenoid driving circuit to improve the safety of the fuzes. The solenoid assembly consists of a coil assembly, a restoring spring, and a core. The solenoid assembly is added in the SAD as an additional safety device. In case of the normal circumstances, the core of the solenoid assembly restrains the
safety devices of the SAD for those devices not to operate at all, so that the SAD can secure safety for storage, transportation, and use. In contrast, when the battery power is provided to the solenoid driving circuit just before the flight, the core confirms the power level and starts removing the restraint from the
safety devices of the SAD, and then the SAD is able to change its mode from safety mode to armed mode. After firing, once the SAD's operations complete, the turned-on arming switch stops providing the power to the solenoid assembly automatically. It can reduce the power consumption at solenoid assembly. Therefore, the proposed solenoid driving circuit for the solenoid assembly not only unlocks the restrained solenoid assembly from the safety devices, but also saves the power consumption during the flight.
Development of Cardiovascular Simulator with Control of Pulse Pressure for Pulse Wave Study

The purpose of this study is to produce a simulator that can control a pulse pressure keeping the pulse wave transfer phenomenon. For this, the elastic tube is combined with a compliance chamber for the vessel part. The simulator is comprised of four parts; a pressure generation part with slider-crank mechanism, a vessel part with resistance controller, water reservoirs and a measurement part. The changes of waveform depending on the location of a chamber is examined to determine the position of a chamber. The effects of a chamber on the pulse pressure and the pulse wave transfer phenomenon were investigated. It showed that the simulator which had the chamber in upstream of tube produces pressure wave, being more similar to the clinical waveform than in downstream of tube. Furthermore, with the chamber, the simulator generates a pulse pressure, being more similar to the normal physiological values than without one. The chamber had little effect on the pulse wave velocity.

To treat the this disease, Laser surgery is usually used with medicine treatment. Recently, the method of thermal therapy is rapidly increasing. Then we made the personal thermal treatment device for decreasing urination pain. And we have good performance data using pig skin.

Korean magnetoencephalography (MEG) system had been developed and installed to hospital. The Korean MEG system contains helmet-shaped arrays of 152 first-order double relaxation oscillation SQUID (DROS) sensor. As a clinical application we have measured and analyzed evoked responses in patients with functional brain disease by outer stimulation as follows; 1) auditory evoked field in patients with hemifacial spasm, 2) somatosensory evoked fields in patients with tumor. We confirm that neuromagnetic data by Korean MEG system can provide useful information for pre-surgical planning or functional brain research.
Improvement Method for Human Body Sensing Module and Managing System

This paper presents an improvement method for human body sensing module and management system, specifically focused on the human body detection module with ultrasonic sensors to detect the usage of toilets and the management system to control the state of the toilets of the entire building. The proposed human body sensing module consists of the detection sensor to detect the movement of human body and the contact sensor to detect the position in a certain distance. The management system is configured of the control unit to process the signal transmitted from sensors, opening and closing valves according to the sensing signal, and the short range wireless communication unit to save the operational status data as well as transmit the data at regular intervals.

In the case of construction equipment, internal wiring has a very complicated structure such as an electrical wiring and hydraulic equipments. Because of these complex wiring, a lot of time is spent on maintenance and equipment manufacturing. In this paper, we design and implementation of the high-reliability PLC(Power Line Communication) -CAN(Controller Area Network) communication module to reduce electrical wiring of the construction equipment.

LED lighting control technique is one of the ongoing research areas for efficient management of LED lighting. In this paper, we design and implementation of LED street lighting remote control system which have a wired and wireless communication function for LED street lighting remote control. The implemented system can automatically dimming and individual(or consolidated) LED street lighting via RS-485/422 or Wi-Fi. In experimental results, the implemented remote control system was satisfactory for all of the desired functions.

In this paper, we design two types of the sensor module to measure the partial discharge causing failures and electric fires for power incoming/distributer. And evaluate the performance thereof. Analyze the correlation of the phase current and the partial discharge and overheating. Proposes to apply the stability index by utilizing the analyzed information and use in order to prevent the failure or electrical fire of the power incoming/distributer.
Pothole Detection Method in Asphalt Pavement

In this paper, we propose a pothole detection method in asphalt pavement using various features. Segmentation, candidate, and decision steps of pothole detection are processed according to the values which are derived from feature characteristics. Segmentation step, we use histogram and closing operation of morphology filter which extracts dark regions for pothole detection. Candidate step, we extract candidate regions of pothole using various features such as size, compactness, etc. Finally, decision step, candidate regions are decided whether pothole or not using comparison of pothole and background's features. Experimental results show that our proposed pothole detection method has better results than existing methods and good performance in discrimination of pothole and similar patterns.
A Study on The transducer of acoustic sensor to be Single-mode FBG using Hopper Type WDM be in the Making

We have designed and made three kinds of FBG(Fiber Bragg Grating) Acoustic Transducer using Hopper type WDM on the use of recently developed FBG in Korea. The newly designed three kinds of FBG Acoustic Transducer using Hopper type WDM have an excellent merit of practical use with simple structure of sensors arm as well as the merit with existing fiber sensors. It was possible to detect sound waves in the range of 10 Hz to 18 kHz through the newly designed three kinds of FBG Acoustic Transducer and also, possible to detect its signal within the maximum range of 8.6 m by the use of most suitable resonance condition of the transducer. Especially, we can expect the utilization of low-frequency signal detection instead of existing acoustic sensor in the environment of electric noise and inferior condition. Furthermore, they can be developed as the high-sensibility and multi-point signal detection system through the sensor array system.
