Design and Performance Analysis of Hybrid Receiver based on System Level Simulation in Backhaul System

An advanced receiver which can manage inter-cell interference is required to cope with the explosively increasing mobile data traffic. 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has discussed network assisted interference cancellation and suppression (NAICS) to improve signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR) and receiver performance by suppression or cancellation of interference signal from inter-cells. In this paper, we propose the advanced receiver based on soft decision to reduce the interference from neighbor cell in LTE-Advanced downlink system. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by calculating the unbiased estimation value of interference signal using minimum mean square error (MMSE) or interference rejection combing (IRC) receiver. The interference signal is updated using soft information expressed by log-likelihood ratio (LLR). We perform the system level simulation based on 20MHz bandwidth of 3GPP LTE-Advanced downlink system. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver can improve SINR, throughput, and spectral efficiency of conventional system.
A CSMA/CA with Binary Exponential Back-off based Priority MAC Protocol in Tactical Wireless Networks

In network-centric warfare, the communication network has played a significant role in defeating an enemy. Especially, the urgent and important data should be preferentially delivered in time. Thus, we proposed a priority MAC protocol based on CSMA/CA with Binary Exponential Back-off for tactical wireless networks. This MAC protocol suggested a PCW(Prioritized Contention Window) with differentiated back-off time by priority and a RBR(Repetitive Back-off Reset) to reset the remaining back-off time. The results showed that this proposed MAC has higher performance than those of DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) in the transmission success rate and the number of control packet transmission by reducing the packet collision. Thus, it produced more effective power consumption. In comparison with DCF, this proposed protocol is more suitable in high-traffic network.

Internet censorship-circumvention and anonymizing services are becoming important with an increase in Internet population. Existing circumvention/anonymizing systems, however, have their own limitations, and they mainly suffer from the shortage of volunteers who relay others' traffic to bypass censors. In this paper, we present a new way of achieving censorship-circumvention while guaranteeing anonymity through the cooperation between censored and uncensored users.
Photo-response of Polysilicon-based Photodetector depending on Deuterium Incorporation Method

The photo-response characteristics of polysilicon based metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetector structure, depending on deuterium treatment method, was analyzed by means of the dark-current and the light-current measurements. Al/Ti bilayer was used as a Schottky metal. Our purpose is to incorporate the deuterium atoms into the absorption layer of undoped polysilicon, effectively, for the defect passivation. We have introduced two deuterium treatment methods, a furnace annealing and an ion implantation. In deuterium furnace annealing, deuterium bond was distributed around polysilicon surface where the light current flows. As for the ion implantation, even thought it was a convenient method to locate the deuterium inside the polysilicon film, it creates some damages around polysilicon surface. This deteriorated the photo-response in our photodetector structure.

The proposed 2-step bias-current suppression has sufficiently low calibration error with wide calibration range, and the calibration range and error can be easily optimized by controlling some design parameters. Due to high responsivity and a long integration time of more than 1 ms, the noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) of the proposed circuit can be improved to 26 mK, which is much better than that of the conventional circuits, 67 mK.
Improved Feature Extraction Method for the Contents Polluter Detection in Social Networking Service

The number of users of SNS such as Twitter and Facebook increases due to the development of internet and the spread of supply of mobile devices such as smart phone. Moreover, there are also an increasing number of content pollution problems that pollute SNS by posting a product advertisement, defamatory comment and adult contents, and so on. This paper proposes an improved method of extracting the feature of content polluter for detecting a content polluter in SNS. In particular, this paper presents a method of extracting the feature of content polluter on the basis of incremental approach that considers only increment in data, not batch processing system of entire data in order to efficiently extract the feature value of new user data at the stage of predicting and classifying a content polluter. And it comparatively assesses whether the proposed method maintains classification accuracy and improves time efficiency in comparison with batch processing method through experiment.
Robust Method of Video Contrast Enhancement for Sudden Illumination Changes

Contrast enhancement methods for a single image applied to videos may cause flickering artifacts because these methods do not consider continuity of videos. On the other hands, methods considering the continuity of videos can reduce flickering artifacts but it may cause unnecessary fade-in/out artifacts when the intensity of videos changes abruptly. In this paper, we propose a robust method of video contrast enhancement for sudden illumination changes. The proposed method enhances each frame by Fast Gray-Level Grouping(FGLG) and considers the continuity of videos by an exponential smoothing filter. The proposed method calculates the smoothing factor of an exponential smoothing filter using a sigmoid function and applies to each frame to reduce unnecessary fade-in/out effects. In the experiment, 6 measurements are used for the performance analysis of the proposed method and traditional methods. Through the experiment. it has been shown that the proposed method demonstrates the best quantitative performance of MSSIM and Flickering score and show the adaptive enhancement under sudden illumination change through the visual quality comparison.
Least Square Prediction Error Expansion Based Reversible Watermarking for DNA Sequence

With the development of bio computing technology, DNA watermarking to do as a medium of DNA information has been researched in the latest time. However, DNA information is very important in biologic function unlikely multimedia data. Therefore, the reversible DNA watermarking is required for the host DNA information to be perfectively recovered. This paper presents a reversible DNA watermarking using least square based prediction error expansion for noncodng DNA sequence. Our method has three features. The first thing is to encode the character string (A,T,C,G) of nucleotide bases in noncoding region to integer code values by grouping n nucleotide bases. The second thing is to expand the prediction error based on least square (LS) as much as the expandable bits. The last thing is to prevent the false start codon using the comparison searching of adjacent watermarked code values. Experimental results verified that our method has more high embedding capacity than conventional methods and mean prediction method and also makes the prevention of false start codon and the preservation of amino acids.
Research on Steganography in Emulab Testbed

Steganography is to conceal the existence of secrete data itself. The Emulab is a framework to provide real systems and network topology that can set up at anytime by researchers. In this paper, we show that steganography techniques can be applied in the Emulab environment. Steganography methods are evaluated on a standalone and sharing environments using the color bitmap images. The cover image is divided into RGB channels and then embedded the secret data at each client. The experimental results demonstrate that execution time is better in client/server environment as cover image size is increasing.
Bus-only Lane and Traveling Vehicle's License Plate Number Recognition for Realizing V2I in C-ITS Environments

Currently the IoT (Internet of Things) environments and related technologies are being developed rapidly through the networks for connecting many intelligent objects. The IoT is providing artificial intelligent services combined with context recognition based knowledge and communication methods between human and objects and objects to objects. With the help of IoT technology, many research works are being developed using the C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport System) which uses road infrastructure and traveling vehicles as traffic control infrastructures and resources for improving and increasing driver's convenience and safety through two way communication such as bus-only lane and license plate recognition and road accidents, works ahead reports, which are eventually for advancing traffic effectiveness. In this paper, a system for deciding whether the traveling vehicle is possible or not to drive on bus-only lane in highway is researched using the lane and number plate recognition on the road in C-ITS traffic infrastructure environments. The number plates of vehicles on the straight ahead and sides are identified after the location of bus-only lane is discovered through the lane recognition method. Research results and experimental outcomes are presented which are supposed to be used by traffic management infrastructure and controlling system in future.
Background Removal and ROI Segmentation Algorithms for Chest X-ray Images

This paper proposes methods to remove background area and segment region of interest (ROI) in chest X-ray images. Conventional algorithms to improve detail or contrast of images normally utilize brightness and frequency information. If we apply such algorithms to the entire images, we cannot obtain reliable visual quality due to unnecessary information such as background area. So, we propose two effective algorithms to remove background and segment ROI from the input X-ray images. First, the background removal algorithm analyzes the histogram distribution of the input X-ray image. Next, the initial background is estimated by a proper thresholding on histogram domain, and it is removed. Finally, the body contour or background area is refined by using a popular guided filter. On the other hand, the ROI, i.e., lung segmentation algorithm first determines an initial bounding box using the lung's inherent location information. Next, the main intensity value of the lung is computed by vertical cumulative sum within the initial bounding box. Then, probable outliers are removed by using a specific labeling and the pre-determined background information. Finally, a bounding box including lung is obtained. Simulation results show that the proposed background removal and ROI segmentation algorithms outperform the previous works.
Image Dehazing Algorithm Using Near-infrared Image Characteristics

The infrared light is known to be less dependent on background light compared to the visible light, and thus many applications such as remote sensing and image surveillance use the infrared image. Similar to color images, infrared images can also be degraded by hazy weather condition, and consequently the performance of the infrared image-based applications can decrease. Nevertheless, infrared image dehazing has not received significant interest. In this paper, we analyze the characteristic of infrared images, especially near-infrared (NIR) images, and present an NIR dehazing algorithm using the analyzed characteristics. In particular, a machine learning framework is adopted to obtain an accurate transmission map and several post-processing methods are used for further refinement. Experimental results show that the proposed NIR dehazing algorithm outperforms the conventional color image dehazing method for NIR image dehazing.
A Study on the Design and Fabrication of Fat Emulsification Adapted Focused Ultrasonic Transducer

Tissue stimulation technique using ultrasound has been continuously studied and developed. Recently, as a increment of interests for obesity treatment and cosmetic care, a various studies on ultrasonic fat emulsification has been conducted. In this study, the fat emulsification adapted ultrasonic transducer was designed. And using designed transducer, the simulation for the shape of focal area and thermal degradation region was conducted. The dimensions were verified by the simulation results. And the effectiveness was confirmed by evaluating measured radiation characteristic and heating characteristic. In addition, we estimated the ultrasonic heating characteristics in composite structure medium. The shape of focal point and heating characteristic of the proposed transducer were determined to be sufficient to emulsify the fat. The results of this study are considered to be used as basic research in more efficient and safe ultrasonic fat removal.
Pothole Detection using Intensity and Motion Information

In this paper, we propose a pothole detection method using various features of intensity and motion. Segmentation, decision steps of pothole detection are processed according to the values which are derived from feature characteristics. For segmentation using intensity, we use a binarization method using histogram to separate pothole region from background. For segmentation using motion, we filter using high pass filter and get standard deviation value. This value is divided by regression value according to camera environment such as photographing angle, height, velocity, etc. We get binary image by histogram based binarization. For decision, candidate regions are decided whether pothole or not using comparison of candidate and background's features. Experimental results show that our proposed pothole detection method has better results than existing methods and good performance in discrimination between pothole and similar patterns.
The Image Position Measurement for the Selected Object out of the Center using the 2 Points Polar Coordinate Transform

For the image processing system to be classified the selected object in the nature, the rotation, scale and transition invariant features is to be necessary. There are many investigations to get the information for the object processing system and the log-polar transform which is to be get the invariant feature for the scale and rotation is used. In this paper, we suggested the 2 points polar coordinate transform methods to measure the selected object position out of the center in input image including the centroid method. In this proposed system, the position results of objects are very good, and we obtained the similarity ratio 99~104% for the object coordinate values.
A Study on The Multi-point Signal and It's Directivity detection of FBG Hydrophone Using Hopper WDM be in The Making

In the using of FBG(Fiber Bragg Grating) developed in home land, we designed and manufactured united FBG acoustic transducers the first in Korea. they are being applied to multi-point signal detection of FBG Hydrophone used Hopper WDM(national patent NO 10-1502954) in the underwater. On united FBG transducers manufactured, we made an demonstrated on respective frequency response peculiarities in the underwater and analyzed the special characters. As the experimental result on frequency response peculiarities, we made it possible underwater acoustic detection on united FBG acoustic transducers type to maximum 30Hz~2.5KHz. it's the optimum conditions of 1.2KHz frequency in detection. And for the purpose of realization on multi-point signal detection on wide scope in the underwater, in the using of WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) method and passive band-pass filter system, established arrays system and succeeded in multi-point underwater acoustic signal detection to the frequency 200Hz~1.3KHz out of the two united type FBG transducers. Additionally, it would be possible directivity detection for the object of its source as the intensity of detection signal varies with the sound source's direction and angle. From now on we prepared a new moment on the practical use study on FBG hydrophone in the future.

As Internet use is widespread advertising through the Web, shopping, banking, etc. As the various services offered by the network, the need for Web security is increasing. A security system for the protection of information assets and systems against various types of external hacking threats and unlawful intrusion will require. Intrusion Detection Tool of the paper web will have is to increase the security level, to prevent the loss of resources and labor spent by the individual monitoring of the web. Security intrusion detection system analyzes the cause of the problem of the security vulnerability and exposure of the information on the Web. Using a monitor to determine a fast support of security is to design a security system for the purpose of protecting the information security vulnerability and exposure information.
