Reliability Estimation for a Shared-Load System Based on Freund Model

This paper considers the reliability estimation of a two-component shared-load system based on Freund model. Maximum likelihood estimator, order restricted maximum likelihood estimator and uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator of the reliability function for the system are obtained. Performance of three estimators for moderate sample sizes is studied by simulation.
Size of Test for Dimensionality in Discriminant Analysis

In discriminant analysis the procedures commonly used to estimate the dimensionality involve testing a sequence of dimensionality hypotheses. There is a problem with the size of the test since dimensionality hypotheses are tested sequentially and thus they are actually conditional tests. The focus of this paper is "How is the size of the test affected by viewing this sequence of tests as conditional tests?".
Constraint Satisfaction and Uncertain Knowledge

We propose a framework for representing and processing uncertain knowledge on the basis of constraint satisfaction. A system of equations and/or inequalities can be considered as a set of constraints that should be solved, and each constraint in the set is transformed into a corresponding logical formula which can be solved through a constraint solving program. Most of rule-based systems, for instance, use a simple probabilistic theory in order to maintain uncertain knowledge, therefore uncertain knowledge can be represented and processed in the constraint satisfaction program quite efficiently.

A model used in the past may be altered at will in modeling for the future. For this situation, the multiprocess dynamic model provides a general framework. In this paper we consider the multiprocess discount normal model with parameters having a time dependent non-linear structure. This model has nice properties such as insensitivity to outliers and quick reaction to abrupt changes of pattern.
Joint Estimation of the Outliers Effect and the Model Parameters in ARMA Process

In this paper, an iterative procedure, which detects the location of the outliers and the joint estimates of the outliers effects and the model parameters in the autoregressive moving average model with two types of outliers, is proposed. The performance of the procedure is compared with the one in Chen and Liu(1993) through the Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed procedure is very robust in the sense that applies the procedures to the stationary time series model with any types of outliers.
The Causal Relationship between Dam Water Level and Fog Time - A Transfer Function Analysis -

As a result of the transfer function analysis on the casual relationship between Andong Dam water level and fog time in Andong City from March of 1981 to December of 1992, it should be referring to monthly increases in the water level having an effect on 0.89 hour per m increases in the fog time with 4 months delay. It is evident, hence, the artificial lake of the dam is one of the direct causes of fog. Based upon this objective evidence, water resources development policy and dam managment policy must be formulated.
The Estimation of Mean Residual Life Function under Left Truncation and Right Censoring Model

The importance of left truncated and right censoring cases has considered for better information in medical follow-up and engineering life testing studies. We propose some estimation procedure for the mean residual life function with consistency and asymptotic normality on the left truncated and right censoring model. And then, the comparision with Kaplan-Meier estimator ignoring the left truncated effect and the small sample properities are investigated by asymptotic biases and M.S.E.'s thresh Monte Carlo study.
Optimal Designs for Constant Stress Partially Accelerated Life Tests under Type I Censoring

The inferences on a series system under the usual condition using data from constant stress partially accelerated life tests and type I censoring is studied. Two optimal designs to determine the sample proportion allocated each stress level model are also presented, which minimize the sum of the generalized asymptotic variances of maximum likelihood estimators of the failure rate and the acceleration factors and the sum of the asymptotic variances of maximum likelihood estimators of the acceleration factors for each component. Each component of a system is assumed to follow an exponenial distribution.
