Venture Capital and Its Impact on an Early IPO in the Venture-Backed Companies
Lee, Hee-Woo ; Jung, Hee-Seog ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 19~29
We made a regression analysis on the early IPO of venture capital investments in Korean IPO market. First, we found that it was likely to shorten the period to IPO in companies which were fast growing with a good operating cash flow, but these companies had a higher possibility of the earning management. Second, companies with more assets and larger size of the board of directors did not take companies public any earlier. Third, a better corporate governance also had no impact on the time period to IPO in the newly public firms. The findings above clearly show that venture-backed companies in Korea pursue the tendency of an early IPO. This phenomenon was much clearer when the companies were invested in by multiple venture capital firms than by a single investor. In general, venture capital firms invest in companies which are fast growing and which have a good operating cash flow. On the other side, venture capitals make investee companies go public earlier by manipulating operating earnings, so that they themselves may exit early. In conclusion, this research has shown that venture capitals in Korea do not play a positive role in the corporate transparency. This is the paradox of venture capital investment and this also shows the current status of Korean venture capital firms.

Yim, Myung-Seong ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 31~46
Drawing upon Griffin and Neal's safety climate and performance model, this study developed an information security climate model. Research model is composed of three research variables that include information security climate, information security compliance attitude, and opportunistic security behavior. Results of the study strongly support the fundamental proposition that the organizational security climate has significant positive influence on the individual's opportunistic security behavior. However, the study also reveals that the organizational climate may not directly associate with the reduction of opportunistic security behavior. Rather the organizational security climate nurtures the favorable attitude of the employee towards the compliance of information security, which in turn discourages opportunistic security behavior.
Language use in multicultural families and the acceptance of multiculturalism: A case study of Korea
Ko, Hye-Jung ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 47~53
I researched the acceptance attitude to the multiculturalism of Korean people and the relationship between language and society through two Korean films,
. And I researched the language form in the multicultural families in the way conducting the survey targeting international marriage immigrant women. The content and conclusion in shortly are as in the following. (1) The acceptance attitude to the multiculturalism of Korean people is somewhat positive in such a case having no interests among themselves. (2) It depends upon the society and the culture for the foreigners to come into contact and learn the language easily. It means well-adapted to the certain society for the foreign workers to use status-language such as slang and jargon in the society. And this is the good example to show us the relationship between the language and certain society. (3) The language form of the multicultural families in Korea is mainly Korean, but two languages are used in order to communicate well with monolingual. This is called 'bilingualism', and according to the result of my research I think it is 'listening comprehension type bilingualism'. From this time forward it is urgently needed to develop the contents in relation to multiculturalism and the 'bilingualism' education program for multicultural families instead of the education of Korean being limited to communication itself in order to improve adaptiveness to multiculturalism in Korean society.

Despite the gradual growth of mobile markets according to an increased mobile distribution rate, empirical studies on the mobile shopping application markets are not sufficient. From the viewpoint of a large number of purchase of brand product in department store by customers and a high growth rate of mobile shopping by means of mobile shopping, we classified a principle variable, the interactivity, into three levels and verified the effects of the interactivity on the flow, effects of the flow on the purchase intention and the control effect of purchase level. In conclusion, among the three levels of the interactivity the customer-customer interactivity and the content-customer interactivity have positive effects on the flow, but company-customer has not. On the other hand, the customer-customer interactivity and the content-customer interactivity have a positive effect on the flow. Furthermore, the flow affects the purchase intention positively. After the verification of the direct effect of interactivity on the purchase intention, the content-customer interactivity only has a positive effect on the purchase intention. Lastly, the purchase level has a control effect when the customer-customer interactivity has a positive effect on the flow.

Kang, Sung-Kwan ; Lee, Jung-Hyun ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 215~220
This paper proposes a ontology of tree structure approach for adaptive object recognition in a situation-variant environment. In this paper, we introduce a new concept, ontology of tree structure ontology, for context sensitivity, as we found that many developed systems work in a context-invariant environment. Due to the effects of illumination on a supreme obstinate designing context-sensitive recognition system, we have focused on designing such a context-variant system using ontology of tree structure. Ontology can be defined as an explicit specification of conceptualization of a domain typically captured in an abstract model of how people think about things in the domain. People produce ontologies to understand and explain underlying principles and environmental factors. In this research, we have proposed context ontology, context modeling, context adaptation, and context categorization to design ontology of tree structure based on illumination criteria. After selecting the proper light-ontology domain, we benefit from selecting a set of actions that produces better performance on that domain. We have carried out extensive experiments on these concepts in the area of object recognition in a dynamic changing environment, and we have achieved enormous success, which will enable us to proceed on our basic concepts.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 221~227
In Korea, ocean dumping has been widely used as the ultimate disposal of sewage sludge. However, ocean dumping of food wasted and sewage sludge from 2013 is expected to legally restricted as London convention on marine pollution prevention has been effective in 2009. This research aims to examine the effect of HEAS in treating the environmental pollution load caused by organic high concentrated sludge. Thus, onsite laboratory scale treatability test using HEAS was adopted to treat the high concentrated organic sludge from sewage and industrial wastewater treatment plant. The research results showed that the HEAS is useful to reduce the environmental pollution caused by organic high concentrated sludge. Specific results are as follows. 1. The organic removal after the sludge digestion using the high efficiency aeration system was 55.2-85.8%. Although these results were lower than those from the general sewage treatment, the high efficiency aeration system could be evaluated as efficient, considering the object sludge contained the industrial waster water. 2. The average removal efficiency was about 25.2%. 3. It was revealed that sludge digestion by the high efficiency aeration system could effectively contribute to the sludge treatment cost. Especially, the high efficiency aeration system is more applicable to the onsite treatment of small sewage and wastewater treatment plant that contains high solid content sludge, industrial wastewater sludge, high fixed solid sludge.
A Study on limit of Policeman's Exertion in Police Questioning
Yoo, In Chang ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 229~235
Police questioning is police measure for acquiring information or inquiring an identification without questionee's will in order to accomplish the goal under the Police Act. However, like spear and shield, it has its own inherent limits between both sides of public power and human right and has stirred an hot issue in our society for longtime. The core problem is whether policeman can force a questionee stop when the questionee refuses policeman's stop requirement, the first step for police questioning. Some opinions argue that police questioning has somewhat effects on crime prevention and suspect arrest but people still have inconvenience and refusal from experiences of reckless police questioning in the past. Because of this, the police needs to recover people's trust on police questioning. In order to do so, in case of police questioning, human right should be superior to crime prevention or suspect arrest. This is the time's call. So when there is a police questioning, policeman's exertion of it on the questionee who refuse it should be conducted under strict conditions.

A Interval Distance Calculation and Forward Collision Warning Algorithm for Vehicle Safety Communications on a Highway
Oh, Sang Yeob ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 295~300
Various forward collision warning algorithms have studied in order to protect a car accident. For this, in general, algorithms using an external device such as a camera and sensor generate a forward collision warning. However, if using the external device, it can occur errors due to device characteristics when there is rain or fog. Also, the prevention of a chain-reaction collision is insufficient because the system generates a warning in case of only vehicle having a forward collision danger. If it combines the vehicle safety communications, the method becomes a solution to protect a chain-reaction collision. So, In this paper, we proposes a improved forward collision warning algorithm using the wireless communication technique, driver's information, breaking distance, and velocity. And we compare and analyze our algorithm and previous algorithms.

The most important feature is required by the various lenses to implement real and of the same high quality image-forming optical role. The input of the machine vision system, however, is generated due to the aberration of the lens distortion. Transformation defines the relationship between the real-world coordinate system and the image coordinate system to solve these problems, a mapping function that matrix operations by calculating the distance between two coordinates to specify the exact location. Tolerance Focus Lens caused by the lens aberration correction processing to Galvanometer laser precision machining operations can be improved. Aberration of the aspheric lens has a two-dimensional shape of the curve, but the existing lens correction to linear time-consuming calibration methods by examining a large number of points the problem. How to apply the Bilinear interpolation is proposed in order to reduce the machining error that occurs due to the aberration of the lens processing equipment.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 325~332
Due to its communication vulnerability resulting in a range of problems, e.g. eavesdropping, information exposure, traffic analysis and spoofing, RFID system becomes the target of attackers. Accordingly, many investigators have proposed various protocols to the extent of theorem proving or verification as the implementation is challenging. This paper thus proposes a safe RFID security protocol using public keys, session keys, hashes, XORs, and random numbers. Timestamps and hashes are applied to the most vulnerable section between readers and tags to detect attacks in attack signals with time difference. Also, to prevent tag information from being exposed in the last session, hash operation is adopted before communication. Finally, in this paper, we designed a RFID security protocol using public and session keys applicable to real systems and verified the security of the proposed protocol with a differentiated formal verification technique.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 333~338
Human resource management is bringing the various changes with the IT technology. In particular, if HRM is non-scientific method such as group management, physical plant, working hours constraints, personal contacts, etc, the current enterprise human resources management(e-HRM) appeared in the individual dimension management, virtual workspace (for example: smart work center, home work, etc.), working time flexibility and elasticity, computer-based statistical data and the scientific method of analysis and management has been a big difference in the sense. Therefore, depending on changes in the environment, companies have introduced a variety of techniques as RFID card, fingerprint time & attendance systems in order to build more efficient and strategic human resource management system. In this paper, time and attendance, access control management system was developed using multi camera for 2D and 3D face recognition technology-based for efficient enterprise human resource management. We had an issue with existing 2D-style face-recognition technology for lighting and the attitude, and got more than 90% recognition rate against the poor readability. In addition, 3D face recognition has computational complexities, so we could improve hybrid video recognition and the speed using 3D and 2D in parallel.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 347~352
As medical treatment is developing with technology, the men's average life expectancy is extended. Therefore, primary medical care becomes emphasized in order to reduce the medical expenses in the long term by satisfying individual's life being healthy. The date for this thesis was collected from January 2011 to June 2011. 889 patients who visited the university hospital emergency room and hospitalized in internal medicine, were picked as the research subjects and they were targeted to be recorded the distribution of chief complaint and principal diagnosis of the patients. Also, this record was used to apply to the standard Classification of Diseases(as known as ICD) and the method of detailed classification of the primary medical care(as known as ICPC) to compare each other. In order to analysis, frequency analysis was used to see vital statistics and the cross tabulations were used to see the distribution of chief complaint according to ICD and ICPC. Results of the research were Abdominal pain(17.7%), Dyspnea(13.5%), Fever (12.5%), and Haematemesis (9.8%), and those symptoms represented the 54.5% of overall chief complaints that is treated in primary care. Therefore, it is acceptable to use the classification of the primary medical care at doc-in-a-box. Also, in case of diagnosis of abdominal pain, it is classified to R10 in ICD and 116 patients(18.7%) belonged to it, but according to ICPC, it is subdivided to Epigastric(11.5%) and General(5.8%). ICPC classification, which is focused to primary medical care is more detailed than ICD classification. Because the data that is collected for this thesis is from only one hospital, it is hard to represent to all the cases, but ICPC in emergency medical care, it has more classification available and it can subdivide the patients effectively, so it is meaningful.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 483~490
In parallel with advancement of the industrial society and accompanied quality-of-life improvement, jewelry is now rather viewed as one of common accessories used in daily life, than as a luxurious item as treated before change of perception about it in the past, attracting thus gradually multiplying demand for it. Thanks to rapid spread of multi media like the Internet, an increasing number of people have come to develop great liking for exceptional design and unique format of jewelry products. Following drain of their reserves, natural gems are unlikely to meet the demand for them fully in the future. As a consequence, it seems essential to rely on synthetic, artificial, imitation jewelry or organic substances and quasi-mineral in amorphous structure for substitute jewelry. Since synthetic jewelry has such a great potential as substitute jewelry, it is expected to maximize added value to jewelry if and when accompanied with development of creative design and upgrading of processing technology for jewelry, in addition to various types of synthetic jewelry and glass that have been already put in use as substitute substances. Synthetic jewelry is thus believed to be able to greatly contribute to progress of the jewelry industry. In many countries of the world, jewelry and gem industry has been regarded as one of promising sectors vital in enriching the national wealth. In this context, the Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy announced in July 2007 "an activating policy for the jewelry and gem industry, declaring to cultivate and grow it to be new engine for the nation's growth". The present paper thus aims to conduct a study exclusively on cutting design of synthetic jewelry as a part of measures to activate the jewelry industry in Korea. Efforts are made to develop designs for jewelry that are unique and different from the conventional stereotyped form of polishing and are added with color, pattern and fashionable cutting. Priority is given in this regard to designing jewelry that may attract general public and may be shared by public beyond the limit of conventional design for jewelry and producing products that stand in contrast with other products. By upgrading the quality of jewelry design, competitiveness of the jewelry industry may be ensured and the creative area of jewelry design may be expanded by far.
A Language Semantic Analysis Shown at the Title
Lim, Woon-Joo ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 491~496
This study tried to analyze symbolism of the work from the title by looking into its linguistic meaning. The title not only exposes artist's thoughts but also speaks for the work subject. Also, it designates the world composed of characters in the work, and further it can be said as endowing overall meaning on the entire work by suggesting possibility of limitless meaning invention as well. As a result of reviewing the symbolism shown at the title after analyzing such points through linguistic contexts, the title named with Adam's language was used for just expressing the essence of characters in the work by transcending time and space, and the title meaning exposed relational aspects between characters and occurred accidents through the association process on 'signifiant' and 'signifie.' These relational aspects are expressed to mutual contraposition, but their relations finally show another one orientation too. In case of the title made by the arbitrary nature of language, a fact could be known that it was results of customs completely unrelated with the practical work and depended on the experience by any accident as being appeared from cultural background of the country where the work was produced. Also, the signification of language occurred in unique regulations and systems, and it was relevant to seeing things through concepts. The proper noun was disappeared, and the symbolism was given again from relational aspects accordingly. It was turn out that similarity between the work and title contained contents of entire work, and played a role of expressing greed in the narrative briefly.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 497~504
Information types and display methods according to the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition was suggested by this study as a way to enhance effective communication by information in aspect of user cognition. First of all, we ascertained the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition by literature research for cognitive psychology and cognitive engineering psychology, results are as follows based in it. First, we suggested information types and attributes for visualization as 'Framework' which helps designers understand cognitive demands of users. Specifically, there are 4 types(STM, STA, LTM, LTA) of information according to the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition, cognitive characteristics for each types and 'attributes matrix for visualization' which is consisted of 14 attributes of high -quality information and resorted by the types. Second, we suggested a guideline for display methods according to depth of information in the design process of information contents. For display methods of STM, STA information as primary information, we suggested "Attribution theory of Distinctiveness", "Advance Organizer", "Progress Closure", "Affordance", for display methods of LTM information as multidimensional information, we suggested "Modularity", "Consistency", "Mimicry", "Mnemonic Device". We had found from this study that there are distinction of status for attributes of information visualization according to information types or depth, and various display methods by them.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 505~510
As games have been used throughout the advertisement design in diverse ways, the paradigm of the internet advertising has also been changed. At the same time, there has been a growing tendency among companies to maximize the purpose of advertising by using game-like internet banner advertising, which provides internet-users with the information of the advertisements by exposing specific information, brands, characters, or image. In spite of the quantitative expansion of the game-like internet banner ads, according to a survey with regard to their click-through rate(CTR), the result indicates the CTR is less than 0.5%. Therefore, this study aims to examine what types of displaying elements of the game-like banner ads gaining in popularity can leave the users with a strong impression, and also to explore what types of displaying elements need to be highlighted for the users' active and aggressive access to internet banner advertisements. Currently advertised game-like banner ads on the internet web sites in different fields are selected. Then, they are analyzed by using seven categories. The findings are expected to lay out systematic and practical guidelines for the future production of game-like banner ads.

Characters also are uneducated people and have simple, negative. They are not complicated, very simple like all that they concerned are instinct and enjoy of that. The lowest class people don't have any deep thought about their miserable life, and don't appear any will to overcome their. We, readers can assume their poor life in a real way. Readres also can haver a strong view resistance against strong men and realize the social situatiin. Through these simple-mined characters, readers could have attachment about life cause these characters have lifes pain and energy of instinct in very difficult situation. These characters are not evil. They are just doing this because they have to survive.
Analysis of "abjection" appeared in the animation
Lim, Woon-Joo ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 10, 2012, Pages 517~522
The work to be analyzed in this study is an animation showed in 2006, which was made by Director Satoshi Kon on the basis of a Japanese SF novel
written by Yasutaka Tsutsui. The key point is to create a new meaning through showing imaginative power of audiences from the world flying across the borderland between reality and fiction. It regarded suitable for analysis of the borderland appearing in the unconscious world of dream and reality through "abjection". Therefore, this study intends to analogize the conclusion through analysis of the animation
focusing on the theory of Julia Kristeva. Abject appears as the phenomenon which cannot be disappeared and the one threatening to disunite which the subject had already organized in the symbolic. The self-feeling of characters is not stable and it keeps watch constantly on the one which may neutralize his caution. They are looking for the power to strengthen the life granting to the subjecthood by chora as the resisting power against the symbolic order. That is, the dreaming space where revengeful power of primitive libido is working and shows mother as Paprika as well as enters through DC mini, works as the semiotic chora as "maternal body". The healing of mental lack in the symbolic caused from here is connected on the borderland to divide between meaning and meaningless as well as normality and abnormality in the semiotic and this is the maternal power of the semiotic. Therefore, "abjection", "abject" and "chora" as well as care and healing of the other self appearing in the subjectivization process in the
can be regarded as the one caused from the love towards the subject to be analyzed.

This study analyzed a variety of different kinds of usage patterns of four-digit personal identification numbers(PINs) based on the data collected from students attending at A-university in 2011. According to the analysis, the 4 digit PINs '1234' was being used most frequently which is similar to the findings of the study by the Daniel Amitay research. In addition, almost 50 percent of the students were using the four-digit PINs closely related to their personal information, and more than 10 percent of them were using it only by the reason of easiness to remember or convenience to use. Number '0' was the most frequently used, and girl students used it more than boys did. According to the result of analysis of four-digit PINs, it was found that number '1' was the most frequently used in the first and the third position. It was also found that number '2' and number '4' were the most frequently used in the second and the forth position respectively. Among students who had used number 3 in third position, around 63.6 percent of those students were using number 4 in the forth position in their PINs which showed highest frequency from analysis of double-digits connected together in each position. The analysis of PINs were represented by the polygonal (type) graph with that X-axis showed from first to forth position and Y-axis showed number had been used at each position. Among many polygonal graphs, the form showed an N-type which was called in type 1 took the first place by 35 percent.

Most of the man-made systems can be modeled as a hybrid system which consists of both the high-level and the low-level component model. High level model is responsible for decision-making and the low-level one takes control of the mechanical component parts. Since the two models requires different interpretation method according to their type, analysis of a hybrid system becomes a difficult job. For the Analysis of the high-level model, methods for discrete event system models such as FSM can be used. On the contrary, numerical analysis techniques are required for the low-level continuous-time system model. Since it becomes a difficult thing for a modeller specifies and develops both the two-level models altogether, we propose an efficient hybrid simulation method which employs a game physics engine that has been widely and successfully used in the area of game industry.
