Mass Customization combines the advantages of mass production and customization. Mass customization has been praised as an innovative approach that would result in changes in business paradigm. However, there is no consensus on the concept of mass customization, but only a generally accepted framework exists to explain successful practices. Prior cases in mass customization are those of the small-medium sized or Internet-based companies. We in this paper explore the mass customization cases of market-leading manufacturers. Although those traditional organizations may be not for swift change, the cases of those companies are important because they target mass markets. Lampel and Mintzberg proposed a continuum of strategies ranging from pure standardization to pure customization. This study investigates mass customization strategies of three companies. In this paper, the cases of cosmetics and sports shoe can be described as tailored customization, and the household appliances case can be classified as customized standardization. These three cases are compared with each other from the customers' decoupling point. Findings and implications of this research are discussed.

Oh, Sang-Yeob ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 6, 2012, Pages 225~230
When a car accident happened, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors in multi-hop. However, the pure flooding is difficult to protect a chain-reaction collision because of the frequent collision and the communication delay. To solve this problem, we proposes a back-off algorithm applied to the estimation of the neighbor node count using the t-distribution. And we proposes a MAC protocol preventing the communication delay by separating the neighbor's count collection channel and data channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol improved more 10% than the previous protocol.

Heo, Kyeong-Wook ; Ha, Kyeong-Jae ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 6, 2012, Pages 253~258
In this thesis, I categorize expression of context data required for context data inference according to five Ws and one H(5W1H) in Ubiquitous computing environment and infer superordinate context by combining context data of 4W1H with inferred context of why. This thesis suggests that we categorize specific context and service according to 6W2H added Whom(specific data or service) and How much (accuracy), and determine proper services for specific contexts by introducing the concept of rough set for expression and inference of categorized contexts and inaccurate knowledge. Since there is an limitation of the set of 0 and 1 when concerned with accuracy of services, I introduce the concept of fuzzy set. To provide users with the most appropriate service by ridding of unnecessary properties through the process of reduction, I also use the concept of rough set.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 6, 2012, Pages 275~281
This research proposes the method to develop the recommendation system of automobile parts using task ontology technology. The proposed intelligent recommendation system is designed to learn the assembly process of automobile parts and the automobile parts are composed by ontology method for the recommendation of the parts. Using hierarchical taxonomy based on is-a relationship, the relationship between each part that makes up automotive engine was set. Each part has each different weighted value according to the knowledge of automobile experts. The weighted value is created by the number of selection that the users of the automobile recommendation system select while using the system and the final value calculated by the multiplication of the weighted value, which is recorded within the system. As a result, the users can easily identify which factor in which part is important by the output in the order of the priority. The intelligent recommendation system for automobile parts is a system to inform of the assembly, the usage and the importance of automobile parts without any specialized knowledge by expressing the parts that are closely related with the applicable parts when selecting any part on the basis of the generated data for the automobile parts that are difficult to access by users.

Due to the topographical and climatic features of Korea, there is a strong possibility of a landslide. Recently, many landslides, caused by the improper land development, frequently occured at the mountain area every summer. Cheonan has been recognized to be relatively safe against landslide, but with the increased risk factors, systematic analysis of the landslide is required. In this paper, the topographical features of Mt. Seonggo in Cheonan City were extracted using contour maps, and water courses and basin areas in heavy rain were computed using the results. Conclusively, Mt. Seonggo areas were relatively safe in the view points of the length of water courses and rain-inflow, but in case of some narrow areas, sustainedly observation was required. Meanwhile, a contour map is proper to analyze the risk of landslide in the 1'st level in that it is more cost effective than other types of digital map.

The proposed object detection employs context-driven adaptive Bayesian framework to relive the effect due to uneven object images. The proposed method used feature vector generator using 2D Haar wavelet transform and the Bayesian discriminant method in order to enhance the speed of learning. The system took less time to learn, and learning in a wide variety of data showed consistent results. After we developed the proposed method was applied to real-world environment. As a result, in the case of the object to detect pass outside expected area or other changes in the uncertain reaction showed that stable. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve superior performance using various data sets to previously methods.

There is growing recognition that individuals with mental retardation are particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse due to multiple factors including life-long dependence on adults for care, trained compliance, social isolation, lack of education about sexuality and sexual abuse, and a societal view that devalues people with disabilities. Teaching about sexual abuse only may raise an individual's anxiety without promoting a healthy sexual identity. For many individuals with mental retardation, the provision of formal sexual health education and sexual abuse prevention training has been shown to be protective against exploitation as well as increase appropriate sexual behavior. To maximize the reach of formal sexual health education and abuse prevention promotion effort, this article suggest exploiting the internet and digital contents as delivery vehicles that have uniquely suitable communication characteristics and outstanding ability to reach large numbers of persons with mental retardation. We review the sexual health education programs, utilizing the internet and digital contents, for individuals with mental retardation. We also suggest the revised version of the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills (IMB) model of health behaviour change (Fisher & Fisher, 1992), and give a brief discussion of how useful this model is for constructing a life-long sex education program for persons with mental retardation.
