Oh, Sang Yeob ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 9, 2012, Pages 319~324
Vehicle safety communications is one among the important technologies in order to protect a car accident. For this, many protocols forwarding a safe message have studied to protect a chain-reaction collision when a car accident occurs. most of these protocols assume that the time of generating a safe message is the same as an accident's. If a node predicts some traffic hazard and forwards a safe message, a driver can response some action quickly. So, In this paper, we proposes a traffic hazard prediction algorithm using the communication technique. As a result, we show that the frame reception success rate of using our algorithm to the previous protocol improved about 4~5%.

VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network), which is a technology to create a network among vehicles, decides the route to the destination using information of neighbors within the transmission range as transmission nodes. The existing routing protocol which uses geographical information can cause delay and disconnection of the network when the density of nodes is not high enough to communicate because it only considers the distance of the relay nodes or destination nodes from the source nodes. To solve the problem, this dissertation suggests a routing algorithm based on zones for stable communications among vehicles in the environment of VANET. I minimize the packet loss rate by dividing the city environment into zones and taking into account not only the distance of the destination but also the density of vehicles to choose the best communications environment. This results in a better performance than the established research when the performance evaluation is implemented.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 9, 2012, Pages 333~338
This paper is related to a skinny smudge blending method using the arbitrary-shaped master adhered closely to the contour shape. The smudge tool is the popular graphic tool embedded in Adobe Photoshop CS6. The smudge tool is used to smear paint on your canvas. The effect is much like finger painting. We can use the smudge tool by selecting its icon on the toolbox of Adobe Photoshop CS6 and dragging in the direction you want to smudge while holding the mouse button down on the image. As the smudge tool blends all the pixels within a radius of the master to generate the result image, its disadvantages are to smudge even the pixels in the undesired region. In this paper to reduce the disadvantage, the skinny smudge blending method using arbitrary-shaped master is proposed. The proposed blending method has the advantage of applying the smudge effect to the desired regions regardless of the background as the arbitrary-shaped master adhered closely to the contour shape is extracted by color image segmentation.

People established a network much more using smart equipments by means of the development of the mobile industry. They can get useful information easily, make new personal connections and communities, and form various personal connections using the communities. The importance of contact, timing, and utility of time plays an important role in human relations. Many programs related to personal relations are already saturated. In other words, they are very significant and difficult to use. Many programs that didn't be concerned ahead of time about how to deal with a lot of the amount of information effectively and take it out in order to use it could bring about negative results. Human being already makes use of physical-empirical language in all of the conscious and unconscious areas. This study begins at the supposition that how to make it easy to apply humane gestures and languages to applications with portable equipment close to human beings.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 9, 2012, Pages 351~356
This paper presents the 2D/3D conversion technique using depth map which is generated based on the haze and relative height cue. In cases that only the conventional haze information is used, errors in image without haze could be generated. To reduce this kind of errors, a new approach is proposed combining the haze information with depth map which is constructed based on the relative height cue. Also the gray scale image from Mean Shift Segmentation is combined with depth map of haze information to sharpen the object's contour lines, upgrading the quality of 3D image. Left and right view images are generated by DIBR(Depth Image Based Rendering) using input image and final depth map. The left and right images are used to generate red-cyan 3D image and the result is verified by measuring PSNR between the depth maps.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 9, 2012, Pages 363~368
The Cluster-based routing protocol is consumed the energy consumption efficiently, but there are many isolated nodes while clustering, so these are impeding energy efficiency. Hop-by-hop based routing protocol is suitable large-scaled network or dynamic environment. However, with the periodic flooding signal and rapid energy loss of near sink nodes, the network life time become shorter. In this paper, We propose the hybrid routing protocol that combine the cluster based routing method for energy efficiency of nodes and hop-by-hop method for re-joining the isolated nodes and load balance of nodes in the near cluster using fibonacci sequence. Based on the analysis, it is proved that the hybrid routing protocol provided higher energy efficiency and less the isolated nodes than previous methods.

If a mobile station requests a channel allocation in its mobile networks, the switching center assigns a channel to a mobile station that belongs to each base station. There are three kinds of channel allocation schemes; a fixed channel allocation, a dynamic channel allocation and a hybrid combination of these two forms. In assigning a good frequency, it is our intention to provide quality service to our customers as well as to use resources efficiently. This paper proposes methods of assigning frequencies that minimize interference between channels and that also minimize the amount of searching time involved. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to per specific equipment, regardless of the number of channels that can be used as a general-purpose system, such as base stations, control stations, central office model is proposed, the existing operators manner similar to the fixed channel allocation based statistics and assigned when the conventional method and the improved method is proposed. Different ways and compared via simulations to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The purpose of this study was to present basic research data to utilize magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with analyzing intracerebral regional distributions of ischemic cerebrovascular disease of middle aged and oldest-old aged people. We retrospectively analyzed middle-aged group (average age of 44.2 year-old, 43 males, 26 females) and oldest-old aged group (average age of 84.7 year-old, 58 males, 71 females) who taken MRI screening for ischemic cerebrovascular disease from May 2006 year to January 2008 year. The intracerebral vascular were classified into 8 vessels, which anterior communication artery (ACoA), posterior communication artery (PCoA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), posterior cerebral artery (PCA), internal carotid artery (ICA), common carotid artery(CCA), and basilar artery (BA). The result of middle-aged group showed that more ischemic cerebrovascular diseases appeared in men than women, and it affected in MCA mostly. In oldest-old aged group, ischemic cerebrovascular diseases occurred evenly spaced in intracerebral region of right, left, and both vessels, and women have more than men. For men, the most occurred in ICA and for women the most occurred in MCA. Specially middle-aged group in men showed that more ischemic cerebrovascular diseases in MCA appeared than oldest-old aged group in men. It is suggested that the analysis on ischemic cerebrovascular could be helpful in the clinical diagnosis and treatment.

This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of action-observational training and task-oriented training on upper limb function and activities of daily living in patients with post-stroke hemiparesis. This study included 12 voluntary participants with post-stroke hemiparesis. Subjects were randomly assigned to either group 1 or group 2, with 6 in each group. Each subject completed the crossover experiment that comprised of action-observational training (A) and task-oriented training (B). The intervention sequence was A-B for the group 1 and B-A for the group 2. Each training was performed for 30 min a day, 5 times a week for 2 weeks (total experimental period of 4 weeks). Assessments were made using the Wolf Motor Function Test (WMFT) and Modified Barthel Index (MBI) thrice: at baseline, after 2 weeks of intervention, and after 4 weeks of intervention. The results showed that the WMFT and MBI scores significantly improved after the completion of each training (p<.05). Therefore, a determination of the superior training method was difficult. The effect sizes of both groups were greater when performed the action-observational training. The findings suggest that both the action-observational training and task-oriented training may be helpful in improving the upper limb function and activities of daily living for patients with post-stroke hemiparesis, and support the clinical feasibility of the action-observational training.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 10, issue 9, 2012, Pages 449~456
The college students who have relatively weak academic background feel more difficult in learning programming language grammars and programming skills in introductory course. At the end of semester, most of students had the negative attitude to programming and only a few students could write the programs for the given problems because they spent most of time to learn grammars instead of learning problem solving skills and logics. In this study, we propose to use Scratch in introductory programming course to help students to understand grammars and problem solving skills. It's necessary to educate first-time programmers how to solve the problems before they learn grammars of the programming language in their first programming language course. This paper shows that Scratch allows students not only to learn problem solving skills in programming but also to motivate students themselves in the class.
