Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 47~57
Big data analysis needs a new tool for decision making in view of data volume, speed, and variety. Many global IT enterprises are announcing a variety of Big data products with easy to use, best functionality, and modeling capability. Big data packages are defined as a solution represented by analytic tools, infrastructures, platforms including hardware and software. They can acquire, store, analyze, and visualize Big data. There are many types of products with various and complex functionalities. Because of inherent characteristics of Big data, selecting a best Big data package requires expertise and an appropriate decision making method, comparing the selection problem of other software packages. The objective of this paper is to suggest a decision making method for selecting a Big data package. We compare their characteristics and functionalities through literature reviews and suggest selection criteria. In order to evaluate the feasibility of adopting packages, we develop two Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) models where the goal node of a model consists of costs and benefits and the other consists of selection criteria. We show a numerical example how the best package is evaluated by combining the two models.

Lee, Chi Hyung ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 71~77
Broadcaster and production studio inevitably take the risk in Korea because the outsourced drama is contracted before produced. However, it is important for both parties to share risk and reward. This study seeks to assess the fairness of the copyright contract between broadcaster and production studio by examining whether they both have the balanced risk and reward structure. For the study, revenue and cost elements with their amounts are identified, which come from TV commercials, oversea sales, the secondary windows, sponsorship, and product placement. Next, the revenue and COGS (Cost of goods sold) of broadcaster and studio are estimated for both cases of when drama becomes successful or not. The analysis reveals that the current copyright agreement allows broadcaster hold low risk but high reward whilst production studio takes high risk low reward. However, the result doesn't imply that government intervention is justified because demand and supply determine the negotiation power in a free economy.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 153~168
Information security has been a major concern in organizations. The longstanding question of how to improve employees security behaviors and reduce human errors remains unanswered and requires further exploration in the information security domain. To do this, we propose a risk compensation theory-based model and examine the model. Research results shows that the relationships between information security countermeasures and information security compliance intention of employees are moderated by system vulnerability. However, the finding is contrary to the previously held risk compensation assumption and deserve further study. In addition, system quality does not play a moderator role in the relationship. Conclusions and implications are discussed.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 189~201
With the rapid development of information and communication technologies, the boundaries of markets become blurred, and with the increasing uncertainties and risks of the future, competition among global companies becomes more intense. Accordingly the enterprises are considering or already taking cooperation strategies with enterprises in a competitive relationship as well as cooperative enterprises in a high correlation with one's own company as a plan to actively cope with changes in management environments. Thus, a cooperation strategy is an important element for the strengthening of the competitiveness of enterprises as well as the survival of the enterprises. However most preceding studies on cooperation strategies focus only on the effects of the properties of cooperation enterprises on the selection of cooperation partner enterprises and the business performance of the enterprises. Therefore, this study carried out an empirical analysis of the motivation and purpose of the construction of cooperation strategies by enterprise and what differences there are in factors to which importance is attached in selecting partners. In addition, this study analyzed the differences depending on the size: large and small enterprises and depending on the industry: electronics and chemical industries during AHP using a pairwise comparison technique.

Yang, Dong-Hyun ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 203~215
This study calculated meta Malmquist indices and their bootstraped estimates and then decomposed them into technical efficiency change(TEC), technology change(TC), pure technology catch up(PTCU), frontoer catch up(FCU), using annual data set of general hospitals from year 2007 to 2011 collected by Korean Hospital Association and then analyzed productivity change and technology gap of Korean general hospitals. The results and implications were as follows below. First, public general hospitals showed higher meta technical efficiencies than private general hospitals while exhibited lower technology gap ratio which meant a few large private general hospitals led the whole general hospitals. Second, group productivity of private general hospitals increased larger than public general hospitals due to the differences of PTCU rather than FCU. But, there was no statistically significant differences for technical efficiency, productivity change, technology gap. Thus, public general hospitals played the same role as the private general hospitals in terms of the number of patients treated. But, considering financial hardships of public general hospitals, public hospitals needed to share and learn medical and managerial skills of the best practice of private general hospitals.
How to improve carrier (telecommunications) billing services to prevent damage
Yoo, Soonduck ; Kim, Jungil ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 217~224
Due to the development of mobile technologies, the carrier (telecommunications) billing service market is rapidly growing. carrier (telecommunications) billing service allows users to make on-line purchases through mobile-billing. Users find this particularly convenient because the payment acts as a credit transaction. Furthermore, the system is commonly believed to be secure through its use of SMS (Short Message Service) authentication and a real-time transaction history to confirm the transaction. Unfortunately, there is a growing number of fraudulent transactions threaten the future of this system. The more well documented types of security breaches involves hackers intercepting the authentication process. By contaminating the device with security breaching applications, hackers can secretly make transactions without notifying users until the end of month phone bill. This study sheds light on the importance of this societal threat and suggests solutions. In particular, "secure" systems need to be more proactive in addressing the methods hackers use to make fraudulent transactions. Our research partially covers specific methods to prevent fraudulent transactions on carrier billing service providers' systems. We discuss about the proposed improvements such as complement of electronic payment systems, active promotion for fraudulent transactions enhanced monitoring, fraud detection and introduce a new authentication service. This research supports a future of secure communications billing services, which is essential to expanding new markets.

A Reviews on the Performance Evaluation Based on Network Analysis and Super-Efficiency Analysis
Choi, Kyoung-Ho ; Kwag, Hee-Jong ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 255~262
Data envelopment analysis(DEA) is a linear programming procedure designed to evaluate the relative efficiency of a set of peer entities called decision making units which use the same inputs to produce the same outputs. It has been widely employed in a variety of disciplines as an efficiency or performance measurement tool for comparing a set of entities such as firms, banks, hospitals, nations and organizations. The method, however, cant's make the priority of their performance when many units have efficiency score of unity or 100 percent. In this paper, we propose a new approach which combine qualitative method(graphical approach using network analysis) and quantitative method(super-efficient analysis using DEA), and present the results of an empirical analysis using the data of the Korean professional baseball players. As a result, there were 12 DMU that priority is hardly realized through DEA. However, this problem could be solved with super-efficiency analyzing. Also, more in-depth interpretation was able through integrating results of dendrogram and super-efficiency analyzing and prospecting it in qualitative, quantitative ways.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 263~275
M&A is an important strategic decision made to ensure the competitiveness of companies and cases of M&A have been increasing in recent years. But the success of an M&A is not assured. In order to succeed, there should first be a well managed strategic leadership by the CEO and an integration strategy. Companies need also to overcome the resistance to change among members. A successful example of an M&A is that of LG Chem and Hyundai Petrochemical. By using this M&A as a case study, the influence of the CEO's Strategic Leadership, and the Integration Strategy on Resistance, Acceptance and Performance were assessed. For this study, research was conducted on CEO Strategic Leadership and Integration Strategy before members of LG Chem (DAESAN PLANT) were interviewed on the M&A's implementation by LG Chem's HR staff, management and members. The results show that CEO strategic leadership and the integration strategy are major change drivers and that they are important to the early stabilization of M&A companies. Finally, suggestions are made as to how such success may be replicated for other companies undergoing M&A in the future.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 387~394
Data mining is the process of discovering hidden, non-trivial patterns in large amounts of data records in order to be used very effectively for analysis and forecasting. Because hundreds of variables give rise to a high level of redundancy and dimensionality with time complexity, they are more likely to have spurious relationships, and even the weakest relationships will be highly significant by any statistical test. Hence cluster analysis is a main task of data mining and is the task of grouping a set of objects in such a way that objects in the same group are more similar to each other than to those in other groups. In this paper system implementation is of great significance, which defines a new definition based on information-theoretic entropy and analyse the analogue behaviors of objects at hand so as to address the measurement of uncertainties in the classification of categorical data. The sources were taken from a survey aimed to identify of job guidance from students in high school pyeongtaek. we show how variable precision information-entropy based rough set can be used to group student in each section. It is proved that the proposed method has the more exact classification than the conventional in attributes more than 10 and that is more effective in job guidance for students.

IGRT(Image Guided Radiation Therapy) in radiation therapy is a very useful technique in order to increase setup of patient and position reproducibility. Tomotherapy can increase accuracy of setup to take IGRT by MVCT, but it be for verified accuracy of Image guided, and MVCT occurs the exposure of patient. Through this study, IGRT accuracy of Tomotherapy is very accurate within 1.0mm. When MVCT using Tomotherapy phantom for QA, QC be taken, exposure dose is Fine(2mm Slice thickness) 3cGy, Normal(4mm Slice thickness) 1.5cGy, Corse(6mmSlice thickness) 1.0cGy. Measurement value of spatial resolution using AAPM CT performance phantom did't cause a big difference. As a result, ability of IGRT in Tomotherapy is very accurate. While obtaining image for IGRT, we should minimize expose range because patient's be exposed to radiation. We should make an effort to do accurate radiation therapy to minimize exposure of patient by selecting the appropriate thickness of MVCT depending on patient's body and treat area.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 679~687
Currently, we are living in the era of digital media that puts the technologies in front which is called digital. Based on the characteristic of 'de-materialistic', human senses have been extended more than ever and there is no exception on those influences. Even though the existence of media seriously brought the identity and value of the painting into a question after the emergence of analog photos, advent of digital photos are raising the wind of new paradigms and values creation more seriously than ever. Unlike analog photos of the past which go through chemical process, true nature of digital photo goes through the digital process which is represented by 0 and 1. This didn't bring the loss of the original, but rather brought the creation of the copy which excels the original through retouching and consequently, destroyed the traditional value which is referred as an original. Like this, digital photo image has aesthetics and value of existence which is differentiated from analog photo because it has essentially different structures and characteristics with analog photo.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 711~718
This study examined the effect of 3 evaluation factors(extraction temperature, extraction time and drinking temperature) on the 5 tastes (sour, sweet, malty, salty and bitter) of coffee. the aim of this experiment were threefold: i) to investigate the change of the 5 tastes depending on the each 3 evaluation factor ii) to examine the change of the 5 tastes depending on the extraction time, drinking temperature under fixing the group of extraction temperature iii) to research the preference for the taste of coffee depending on 3 evaluation factors. As a result, in relation to the evaluation factors, significance difference was made at the sour taste. And when extraction temperature was higher and extraction time was longer, the sour taste was felt stronger. To the contrary, when drinking temperature was lower, sour was stronger. When the extraction Temperature group was controlled, the sour and malty taste were stronger. The sour taste was stronger when drinking temperature was lower and delicate flavor was stronger when drinking temperature was higher. High preference was demonstrated at extraction temperature(
), extraction time(0 minute), drinking temperature(
) and higher malty taste.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 731~736
Recently attention deficit of children has caused various social problems. Those children who has symptoms like ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) has to be provided with methods which can enhance their attention level in a child-friendly way such as 3D games. This paper shows a research on how to measure the level of attention for attention deficit children using their favorite 3D games. Firstly, we speculated on the methods about attention measurement used in the medical area. And then we searched measurement variables which can effectively evaluate the level of attention during a game play time. Secondly, we have conducted experiment whether there exists difference about the value of the measurement variables between the two groups, normal children group and attention deficit children group. Those variables are omission error, commission error, average response time, and standard deviation of response time. Though our experiment has only been limited to visual attention level, four measurement variables revealed mutual differences.
An Empirical study on the analysis of the re-using of four-digit personal identification numbers - A university case
Moon, Soog-Kyung ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 11, issue 10, 2013, Pages 737~746
This research aim is to investigate the rate and pattern of re-using the four-digit personal identification numbers(PINs). 1313 types of PINs were observed by 224 students who took this author's classes from last 2006 to 2011 at A-university. Some students used PINs as few as 3-4 and as many as 12-13. The average is 5.86 per person. The rates of re-using PINs were calculated by each student. 87%(195/224) of students reused PINs and 64% of them reused with just only one type of PINs, 20% reused with 2 types, and about 3% reused with 3-4 types. With respect to PINs, 884 out of the total 1313 PINs were reused, that is around 64.3%. In a broad sense, a pair of slight modification of PINs were also observed, that is, new PINs were partly matched in position or size of numbers of previous PINs. And if the reuse rate falling under the slight modification of PINs, 10.4% is added, about 75% of the PINs were reused in a broad sense. The re-using rate of male students is higher than the one of female students. This paper's results may provide to make plan for hacks of passwords.
