TANG, WEI ; Jeon, Sang-Gil ; Choo, Shi-Gak ;
Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 14, issue 4, 2016, Pages 221~230
DOI : 10.14400/JDC.2016.14.4.221
This is an experimental study which is designed to identify the joint relationship between communication density and centrality as independent factors to team performance, discovering how they would jointly affect work team performance. Specially different from existing studies, separating team performance into team efficiency and team effectiveness, we identified differential influences to the two independent factors. Findings suggest a competing relationship between communication density and centrality. A framework was proposed to help managers understand the joint effect of density and centrality on performance. Work team has high communication density and low centrality is "Innovating", which is likely to have a great extent of ideas, knowledge and information sharing, and reach high effectiveness. Team with high centrality and low density is characterized as "centralized". Such communication structure may reduce diversity of perspectives and accelerate team decision making. When both density and centrality are low, the team is "Autonomous". To increase external validity, other factors such as leadership, organizational climate influencing on team performance should be reflected in the future research.

Journal of Digital Convergence, volume 14, issue 4, 2016, Pages 277~283
DOI : 10.14400/JDC.2016.14.4.277
This study proposed new methods to classify normal and epileptic seizure signals from EEG signals using peaks extracted by wavelet transform(WT) and Hilbert transform(HT) based on a neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM). This study has the following three steps for extracting inputs for NEWFM. In the first step, the WT was used to remove noise from EEG signals. In the second step, the HT was used to extract peaks from the wavelet coefficients. We also selected the peaks bigger than the average of peaks to extract big peaks. In the third step, statistical methods were used to extract 16 features used as inputs for NEWFM from peaks. The proposed methodology shows that accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity are 99.25%, 99.4%, 99% with 16 features, respectively. Improvement in feature selection method in view to enhancing the accuracy is planned as the future work for selecting good features from 16 features.

Noise is unwanted sound that is the reason of the stress and hearing loss. The current study attempted to estimate whether the noise of dental laboratory affected stress and pure tone audiometry (PTA) of dental laboratory technicians (DLTs) using heart rate variability, air and bone conduction audiometry. The age, heights, and weights of DLTs were resembled control. Standard deviation of normal to normal interval such as stress resistance and normalized HF of DLTs were significantly decreased, but heart rates, normalized LF, and LF/HF ratio of DLTs were significantly increased compared with control. In air conduction audiometry of DLTs, significant increments of thresholds encountered in 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, and 6000 Hz in the right ears and 125, 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz in the left ears. Thresholds of bone conduction audiometry in both ears were significantly increased in 250, 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 Hz. The findings in this study provide that stress and hearing loss observed in noise-exposed DLTs at dental laboratory. Therefore, proper safety precautions should be carried out at dental laboratory.

DOI : 10.14400/JDC.2016.14.4.371
An aim of current study was to investigate the prevalence and the mechanism of quinolone-resistance in E. coli isolates obtained from chicken cecum in Korea. In addition, multilocus sequence typing (MLST) was also performed for the molecular characterization of E. coli isolates. In an antimicrobial susceptibility test by the disk diffusion method, the 63.5% (54/85) of E. coli isolates showed the resistance to quinolone group of antimicrobial agents. All of the 54 E. coli isolates showing resistant to quinolone group had sense mutations in gyrA gene and point mutations at the
residues in parC gene were detected in 90.7% of the isolates. Interestingly, E. coli ST was closely related to amino acid substitutions in parE gene. Our results indicated that the long-term use of antimicrobial agents in food-producing animals was strongly associated with a prevalence of antimicrobial resistance in commensal Enterobacteriaceae, suggesting the need for continuous surveillance and monitoring of antimicrobial resistant determinants in bacterial isolates from food animals.

In this paper, we studied a light distribution for the LED chips arrangement using an optical design software. The structures of the edge type LED luminaires are reflector plane, LGP(lighting guide plane) and diffuse plane. The reflector plane is on the middle of the overall structure. We had simulation that placing LED chips on the reflector center of the reflector edge by changing the position of LED chips above the reflector center at 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm respectively. In the case, when LED chips are on the center of the reflector, it shows the light distribution of the general diffuse illumination, the semi-direct distribution with 0.56 efficiency and the direct distribution with 0.31 efficiency. And the wedge type LGP shows more efficiency than the flat type. Gradually increasing shape of semi-spherical type by 0.015mm has power of 1.02W, efficiency of 0.25, and maximum luminous intensity of 0.104W/sr, it also and shows the better optical characteristics than the reflector plane that have no patterns. This semi-spherical type shows the better optical characteristics than the reflector plane that have no patterns.
