Taxonomical Review of Perineresis aibuhitensis Grube, 1878 (Nereidae ; Polychaeta) in Korea
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 1~10
A nereid worm , Perineresi aibuhitensis has been frequently mis-identified in Korea as P.vancaurica tetradentata or Neanthes virens due to the wide variation in the number and arrangement of paragnaths on its proboscis. In this paper we re-examined ca. 50 worms collected in three intertidal mud flats of the western coast of Korea, and identified them to be P.aibuhitensis , a new record in Korea. We also described the hteronereid of this species and its biogeographical range.
A Taxonomic Study of Order Arcellinida(Protozoa : Sarcomastigophora : Rhizopoda) from Korea
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 11~18
The Arcelinida (Protozoa : Sarcomatigophora : Rhizopoda ) inhabited in Sphagnum at Taekwanryng, were taxonomically investigated. Collections of Sphagnum were made from September, 1990 to June, 1991 at swamp located in Taekwanryong. As a result of the present study, 5 species in two Families were identified, which were newly recorded from Korea ; Centropyxis platystoma Penard, Quandrulella symmetrica (Wallich), Hyalosphenia nobilis Cash and Hopkinson, Nebela equicalceus (Leidy), N. penardiana Deflandre. These five species were redescribed with photographs.
Two New Species of Microcoryphia (Insecta) from Korea
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 19~34
This study deals with three microcoryphian species in two genera, including two new species Pedetotus longus n.sp. and Haslundichilis viridis n.sp., and one species of new record for South Korea Pedetontus unimaculatus Machida, 1980 . four species in two genera are accordingly listed for the microcoryphian fauna of Korea.
Rotifera from Korea Inland Waters IV. Brachionus and Platyas of Brachionide (Rotifera; Monogononta)
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 35~56
The systematic studyof freshwater rotifers was conducted on the materials collected from 205 sites in South Korea. As a result, 1 species, 9 subspecies, 2 varieties and 6 forms of two genera. Brachionus and platyas in Family Brachionidae were identified, of Which , 1 subspecies and 4 forms are new to the Korean fauna: Brachionus urceolaris bennini , B. angularis f. bidens , B. quadridentatus, f. rhenanus, B. forficula f. minor, and B. forficula f. angularis. Total 134 speices, 15 subspecies, 9 varieties and 9 forms representing 14 families 40 genera are now recorded from Korea by adding the 1 subspecies and 4 forms newly described in the present paper.
Two Species of Copepoda (Poecilostomatoida . Siphonostomatoida) assoicated with Asteroida in Korea
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 57~68
Only four copepod species associated with sea stars have beenknown from the north Pacific . The examination of Korean sea stars for copepod associates revealed two species ; Scottomyzson gibberum and a new species belonging to the genus Synstellicola. Both species are (re) described. S. gibberum , A sole member of the genus hitherto known only from the northeastern Atlantic , is recorded in this report to be associated with various sea stars and distributed widely in Korean seas.
Marine Gastropods from Ullng Island , Korea: Orders Neogastropoda and Basommatophora
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 69~88
The present study on the classification and description of the marin Neogastropoda and Basommatophora was based on the materials which were collected during the period from 12 th to 17 th of July in 1989 at ten localities of Ullng Island , Korea. All of 7 families and 19 species were reported including the 16 unrecorded species from the Ullng Island as a result of this study. Among them, 3 species [Zafrona (Clathranachis) japonica (A.Adams , 1860), Enzinopsis menkeana (Dunker, 1860) and Pollia mollis, (Gould, 1860)] were new to the fauna of Korea.
A Taxonomic Study on Genus Moina (Branchiopoda, Cladocera, Moinidae) of Korea
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 89~106
The specimens belonging to genus Mina collected from various freshwater habitats at 65 localties in South Korea during the period from July 1983 to July 1991 were examined. As a result of the present study, three species were identified and one of which was newly reported from Korea. We provided a key to four species of the genus Moina occurring in Korea and described and illustrated males and ephipoidal females poorly known in Korea as well as parthenogenetic females of the three species.
A Systematic Study on the Ophiuroidea in Korea I. Species from The Sea of Japan and the Korean Strait
Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, volume 8, issue 1, 1992, Pages 107~132
To perform the systematic study on Korean Ophiuroidea the specimens collected from total 92 localities in the Sea of Japan and the Korea Strait during the period from April, 1969 to October, 1991 were classified, As a result, 41 phiuroid species belonging to 18 genera, 8 families, 4 suborders and 2 orders were identified , of which 6 species, namely, Ophiactis brachygenys, Ophiactis modesta, Ophiopholis brachyactis, Amphioda cyclaspis, Amphipholis kichii, Ophionereis eurybrachyiplax have not been reported in Kiorea before. With regard to the distribution of species , 24 species (58.5%) were found only in the Korea Strait, 9 species (22.0%) occurred either in the Sea of Japan and the Korean Strait and 8 species (19.5%) only in the Sea of Japan. Ophiothrix exigua was predominantly collected from 44 localities of total 92 localities examined and also from the Korea Strait, but Ophiura sarsii was the commonest speices in the SEa of Kapn . Eighteen temperature species(43.9%) were found in the greatest number, and then 15 tropical species (36.6%) , 7 boreal species (17.1%) and 1 cosmopolitan species(2.4%) were found.
