The structure of the variable liquid column oscillator(VLCO) is analogous to that of the tuned liquid column damper used to suppress oscillatory motion in large structures like tall buildings and cargo ships. VLCO is using the technology which absorbs high potential energy made by process of accelerated motions effect of air spring by installation of inner air chamber. So, the application of VLCO can improve the efficiency of energy than that of wave energy converters made in Pelamis Company. In this research, experiments were performed for the models which have two different liquid column sizes. In order to find out the biggest motion response, two major conditions are taken into account. Two conditions are to open(or close) the valves and to differentiate the height of the liquid column.
Effect of Carbides on the Tensile Properties of 0.5C-17Cr-0.5Ni Martensitic Stainless Steel

The effect of carbides on the tensile properties in 0.5C-17Cr-0.5Ni martensitic stainless steel was studied. With the increase of austenitizing temperature, the volume fraction of residual carbide was decreased rapidly. In tempered specimens after quenching, the volume fraction of total carbide was decreased with the increase of austenitizing temperature. In tempered specimens after quenching, strength was decrease and elongation was increased with the increase of austenitizing temperature. Tensile strength was increase and elongation was decreased with the increase of volume fraction of residual and total carbides. With the increase of austenitizing temperature, the tensile properties of mod. 0.5C-17Cr-0.5Ni martensitic stainless was affected greatly by residual carbide than tempered carbide.

Energy consumption rapidly increases with industrial development. therefore an interest in the efficiency of various power converters is increasing. Especially, the field of high-efficiency small motors widely distributed for industrial and family use is considered a very important field in terms of efficient energy usage, and accordingly, in the field of small electric equipment, the use of BLDC that allows high-efficiency drive in an inductor gradually increases. However, for the BLDC drive, information on the position of the rotor is essential. Both methods using a magnetic encoder and an optical encoder to detect the information on the position of the rotor obtain the information by three position sensitive devices, and if any one of these position sensitive devices fails to function, no positional information can be obtained, so there is a limitation in implementing a position sensor with high reliability. In the paper, proposes a new type of encoder that can obtain the positional information on the position of the rotor using a single position sensor in order to overcome the issues that it has to use numerous signal flows and that the reliability is reduced for the acquisition of positional information generated by using multiple position detectors. The encoder in the proposed method replaced the function of generating positional information from multiple sensors with the shape of the encoder plate and the capture function of MICOM. In order to verify the validity of the position detection technique by the proposed encoder, a prototype was produced, and an experiment using the capture function of DSP was conducted through this.
Estimation of Probability Distribution of Fatigue Lives in Crank Throw Forged Steel

Because of the severe service environment of the large marine vessel, the fatigue strength and its evaluation play an important role in design and maintenance of marine crankshaft. The aim of this work is to investigate the probability distribution of fatigue lives in crank throw forged steel and to develop the methodology for estimation of the probabilistic design fatigue strength. Detailed studies were performed on the constant amplitude axial loading fatigue test. The experiments were controlled by stress ratio of -1 and 15Hz frequency for each stress level. The considerable variability of fatigue life was observed in each stress level under rigidly controlled constant fatigue testing conditions. The fatigue life of crank throw forged steel was well followed the log-normal and Weibull distribution. In addition, it can be used for the estimation of probabilistic design fatigue strength by using the proposed methodology.
Bucket Actuator Pressure Control by Independent Metering Valve for Excavator

A cylinder control system of the conventional construction machine has been controlled by hydraulic spool valves. This system is low-cost but system efficiency is not high. Recently, to improve this, all valves are controlled electronically and independently. Bu and Yao suggested four way electronic hydraulic control valve system. It is called IMVT(Independent Metering Valve Technology). The purpose of the study is to find proper IMV pressure control method for excavator and to validate excavator`s bucket regeneration energy effect by controlling the IMV system. In this paper, we mathematically describe the bucket system of excavator first. And then, based on these results, we design the control system which is divided into two operations(none regeneration or regeneration).The results of the experiment show the desirable performance and usefulness of the designed control system.

The current study was carried to understand the immersion characteristics and mechanical properties of heat treated stainless steels. Stainless steels (STS310S, STS316L and STS347H) were thermally treated at temperature ranges from 480 to
. Nominal stress was determined to be slightly different depending on the heat treatment temperature. The Cr concentration in STS310S was increased at the temperatures of 600 and
, whereas the Cr concentration in STS316L and STS347H were almost constant regardless of heat treatment temperatures. Vickers hardness was found larger as a thermal treatment temperature was increased. Immersion tests of the stainless steels were also carried out in acidic solution and alkaline solution for 240 hours. Among three different stainless steels, the pitting was detected in the acidic solution, not in the alkaline solution. The pitting of STS347H was occurred more than STS310S and STS316L.
The Joints Characteristics of Al 5052 Aluminium Alloy in Friction Stir Welds

In this study, the tensile tests and hardness tests were carried out for the joints characteristics in friction stir welds of Al 5052 alloy. Three way factorial design was applied to optimal welding conditions, whose control factors were shoulder diameter, rotation speed and welding speed of tool. From the results of this study, the optimum condition for maximum yield strength was predicted as the shoulder diameter of 15 mm, welding speed of 500mm/min and rotating speed of 1000 rpm. And the presumed optimal yield strength was estimated to be
with 99% reliability. In addition the increaser rotation speed of tool and the decreaser welding speed, the decreaser the hardness at welding part.
Development of Experimental Equation of Hood Frame for Vehicle Considering Operating Angle

This paper presents the experimental result and theoretical analysis result to investigate the correlation between the operating force, angle and locking torque for vehicle hood frame. Also, we derived the experimental equation that using the results for experiment and theory. The hood frame is switching-devices used for opening and closing the vehicle hood. It needs the correlation data between locking torques of each joint, operating force and angle of hood frame. The correlation data for torque and reaction force of hood frame obtained through experiment and theory analysis. Finally, the experimental equation of the locking torque prediction for the hood frame is derived.
A Study on the Algorithm Development of End-point Position Tracking for Aerial Work Platform with Bend-linked Boom

In this research work, an algorithm development on tracking end-point of aerial work platform with jib profile and bend-linked boom was carried out to find the X, Y and Z direction value using coordinate transformation matrix. This matrix consists of device status value(length and angle) based on camera position axis, which are sent from device controller PLUS+1 by CAN protocol. These values are used to measure the distance and angle from the camera to the end-point. Using these distance and angle value, monitoring system controls FAN/TILT/ZOOM status of camera to get an adequate scene of workplace. This program was written in Java, C# and C for mobile device. These results provide the information to the aerial work device for secure operation.
