An Experimental Study on the Cylinder Wall Temperature Characteristics for Load Variations in a Gasoline Engine

The purpose of this study is to prevent the stick, scuffing, scratch between piston and cylinder, is to contribute the piston design such as piston profile, clearance by calculating reaction force by over-lap of piston skirt, as measuring the temperature distributions of cylinder wall. The experiment has been peformed to obtain data during actual engine operation. Temperature gradient in peripheral and axial distributions of cylinder wall according to torque and speed of engine were measured by use of an 800cc class gasoline engine. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1) The temperature of cylinder wall at TDC was about
higher than temperature of cooling water. 2) The rear side temperature of top dead center was
(1/4 load) in axial distribution, whereas the rear side of midway position temperature was
. 3) The temperature of cylinder wall increased in according to rising temperature of cooling water. 4) The thrust side temperature of cylinder wall was about

The Effect of Multi Nozzles on the Characteristics of Annular Jet Pump

Experimental and theoretical researches about jet pump have been carried out by many researchers. Jet pump can be used for the transportation of solid materials, farm produce, and fishes. It is the purpose of this paper to seek optimal multi nozzle shape of the annular jet pump. Experiments were done for several jet nozzle areas, jet nozzle arrays and jet nozzle lengths. Water was used for both the primary fluid and secondary fluid. The efficiency curves for the annular jet pump having multi nozzles are presented in this paper.
Flow Characteristics around a NACA0012 Airfoil by PIV

The flow characteristics of a NACA0012 airfoil was investigated in rectangular water circulating channel. The flow patterns around an airfoil at various angles of attack between
were visualized and measured with 2-D PIV system and laser sheet illumination. Flow behaviors such as velocity distribution, kinetic energy and flow separation etc. around an airfoil were obtained by means of 2-D PIV system. The behaviors show the difference of flow pattern clearly and separation phenomena become more active with increasing angle of attack.
A Study on the Development of the Train Wind Rate Prediction Program in Tunnel of the Subway

Subway is one of the most important transportation and its facilities are increased by the drift of population to cities in these days. But heat generation results from lighting, human and traffic increase in subway, half-closed space, gives uncomfortable sense to the subway passengers. Therefore, natural ventilation by piston effect is done to relieve uncomfortable sense. But train wind by piston effect gives uncomfortable sense to the subway passengers, too. So the numerical calculation of inflow and outflow amounts is important to predict thermal environment and reduce train wind. A Study on Optimal Design Rule for Forward Extrusion Die

Lots of products are made in various working conditions, depending on the size and the shape of them. Usually, at first, the die for new items had been designed on the basis of experience and know-how, and then modified through trial and error. At a die design stage most of drawings have been drawn manually. Recently some forging companies save design time by repeated utilization of standardized parts with registered data base. In this study the automated die design technique for forward extrusion of axisymmetric products is developed. A standardized die system is proposed from the investigation of ones employed frequently in the metal forming field and the design rules for cold extrusion die. A design example of forward extrusion die is given and discussed.
A Study on a Two-Degree-of-Freedom Servosystem Incorporating an Observer

In order to reject the steady-state tracking error, it is common to introduce integral compensators in servosystems for constant reference signals. However, if the mathematical model of the plant is exact and no disturbance input exists, the integral compensation is not necessary. From this point of view, a two-degree-of-freedom(2DOF) servosystem has been proposed, in which integral compensation is effective only when there is modeling error for disturbance input. The present paper considers the design problem of 2DOF servosystem incorporating an observer. It is shown that if a state feedback gain and a observer gain satisfy a condition, the integral effect does not appear when modeling error or disturbance input exists. This result means that the servosystem does not behave as a 2DOF servosystem.
Development of Speed Estimation Algorithm for Low-effecting of T.G Ripple by Using Generalized Observation Technique

Generally, T.G(Tacho-generator, Tachometer) sensor is used widely for sensing the angular velocity in rotary machine. By limitation of T.G sensor's structure, the sensed angular velocity include a periodic noise, and the noise is called "ripple" as an electrical term. To reduce the effecting of the ripple, many kinds of filters are designed and installed, but there is necessary a trade off between response time and adapted frequency band. In this paper, we propose a generalized observer to estimate an angular velocity from the output signal of T.G sensor. The generalized observer is proposed firstly for continue systems, and it is applied to DC servo motor with T.G sensor. For simulation, we measure T.G signals at 60, 400, 570 rpm respectively, and analysis those to obtain the resonance frequency of ripple by FFT method. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we compare the results with those of a RC low frequency band filter.

Most of the small-type fishing boats in this country don't have the autopilot system such as the large ships have. In this papers, we describes on the development of electro magnetic compass for the autopilot system of the small-type fishing boat, which is utilized the MR(magnetic resistance) device and the inclination sensor. And we investigated the validity of the developed electro magnetic compass through results of actual experiment.
Speed Control for Synchronous Motor Using the Current Control Algorithm

It is not easy to control the speed of AC motors accurately without modeling with some parameters for the controlled system. However, there are some application parts which do not require high speed responses strictly and the motor parameters can not to be identified simply. In this paper, a speed control method for a synchronous motor(S.M) with unknown parameters of the motor is investigated. The method is based on the current control algorithm. Speed controller and current controller are designed using PI control law. Some experiments are performed using DSP and power expert system to prove the validity of the proposed method. Throughout experimental results, the method is confirmed successfully. This method is expected to control the system with unknown parameters of the S.M efficiently.
A Study on the Analysis Algorithm of Time Historical Response of Straight-line Structure by the Transfer Stiffness Coefficient Method

This paper describes formulation for algorithm of time historical response analysis of vibration for straight-line structure. This method is derived from a combination of the transfer stiffness coefficient method and the Newmark method. And this present method improves the computational accuracy of the transient vibration response analysis remarkably owing to several advantages of the transfer stiffness coefficient method. We regarded the structure as a lumped mass system here. The analysis algorithm for the time historical response was formulated for the straight-line structure containing crooked, tree type system. The validity of the present method compared with the transfer matrix method and the Finite Element Method for transient vibration analysis is demonstrated through the numerical computations.
