This paper represents the vector fields and three dimensional mean velocities in the X-Y plane of cone type swirl gas burner measured by using X-probe from the hot-wire anemometer system. This experiment is carried out at flowrate 350 and
respectively in the test section of subsonic wind tunnel. The vector plot shows that the maximum axial mean velocity component is focused in the narrow slits distributed radially on the edge of a cone type swirl burner, for that reason, there is some entrainment of ambient air in the outer region of the burner and the rotational flow can be shown in the inner region of the burner because mean velocity W is distributed about twice as large as mean velocity V due to inclined flow velocity ejecting from the swirl vanes of a cone type baffle plate of burner. Moreover, the mean velocities are largely distributed near the outer region of burner within
, hence, the turbulent characteristics are anticipated to be distributed largely in the center of this region due to the large inclination of mean velocity and swirl effect.
A Study on the Fluid Flow with Ultrasonic Forcing by PIV Measurement - On the Incident Angle and Reflector -

A study on the fluid flow with ultrasonic forcing was carried out to get the enhancement of turbulence by laying emphasis on the ultrasonic incidence angles and reflectors. A large water tank was made of the transparent acrylic plates and city water of

The velocity vector distribution, kinetic energy and turbulence intensity of the turbulence flow fields enhanced by ultrasonic forcing were measured, compared and discussed by using the PIV measurement which was possible to measure the velocities of simultaneous multipoints. In results, it was cleared that the incidence angle of ultrasonic and material of reflector influenced the enhancement of turbulence.
A Study on Fatigue Crack Propagation Threshold Characteristics in SA516/70 Steel at Low Temperature

Fatigue crack propagation rate and threshold characteristics of the SA516/70 steel which is used for the low temperature pressure vessels, were studied in the room temperature of

Tested results showed that specimen failed at low temperature exhibit the quasi-cleavage fracture formation however considerable ductility proceed final fracture.
Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of
Coating Layer by Plasma/Laser Complex Spraying

This study was aimed at observing the influence of laser irradiation on a
ceramic coating layer fabricated by plasma spraying. The
ceramic powder was plasma sprayed onto SS400 carbon steel substrate and laser irradiated on the coating layer under various conditions of laser power and beam diameters. As to the as-sprayed specimen and laser-treated specimen, a hardness test and a microstructure analysis were performed. Hardness was measured by a microhardness tester; microstructure was observed by an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope. The result was that the microstructure of the laser-irradiated coating layer was dense; porosities almost disappeared and hardness increased. It was also observed that microcracks occured in the laser-irradiated coating layer.
Friction Welding Optimization of Hot Die Punch Materials and Its AE Evaluation

The complete joining method for dissimilar hot die punch materials and its real-time evaluation method are not available at present. Brazing method has been used for joining them, but it is known that the welded joint by the brazing has the lower bonding efficiency and reliability than the diffusion welding. The friction welding with a diffusion mechanism in bonding was applied in this study. So, this work was carried out to determine the optimal friction welding conditions and to analyze mechanical properties of friction welded joints of hot die punch materials (STD61 for the blade part of hot die punch) to alloy steel (SCM440 for the shank part of hot die punch) such as plunger. In addition, acoustic emission test was carried out during friction welding to evaluate the weld quality.
Analysis of Noise Source for Mold Transformer

Especially, demands for the noise reduction of mold transformer has been becoming an common issue because it has been used mainly at the residence area such as building and ship. So, this paper investigates the noise source and countermeasure of mold transformer radiated high noise abnormally. The result of impact hammering test for core of transformer ascertains the core resonance by harmonics of line frequency and high noise can be reduced to avoid core resonance by changing torque strength of tie rod. Magnetic field analysis is performed to identify the reason that noise of V-phase is higher than U and W-phase in the normal condition. It is the cause that flux density and magnetic force of V-phase is higher than the other phase respectively.
Influence of a the Velocity of Moving Mass on Dynamic Behavior of Simple Beam Subjected to Uniformly Distributed Follower Forces

On the dynamic behavior of a simple beam subjected to an uniformly distributed tangential follower force, the influences of the velocities and magnitudes of a moving mass have been studied by numerical method. The instant amplitude of a simple beam is calculated and analyzed for each position of the moving mass represented by the time functions. The uniformly distributed tangential follower force is considered within its critical value of a simple beam, and four values of velocity is also chosen. Their coupling effects on the deflections of a simple beam are inspected too. When a moving mass moves after middle zone of a simple beam at the low velocities, its deflection is increased by the coupling of an uniformly distributed tangential follower force and moving mass.

On the dynamic behavior of a simple beam the influences of the velocities and distance of two moving masses have been studied by numerical method. The instant amplitude of a simple beam is calculated and analyzed for each position of the moving masses represented by the time functions. The Remote Control of Mobile Robots on the Web

It is often necessary to observe the working environment of a robot to control it efficiently in the remote location. The remote sensing data and control commands are transmitted via various media such as radio, microwave, and computer network. The World Wide Web can be used as the infrastructure for teleoperation of mobile robots. In this paper we propose an advanced technique of the remote control of mobile robots on the web. For the real-time control, the image separation algorithm is proposed to transmit the current positions of mobile robots instead of transmitting the full frame image. It is shown by experiments that the proposed algorithm is effective.

Study on Operation Model for Open Architecture Flexible Manufacturing Cell Controller

Modern manufacturing systems should cope with the frequent changes in a product model and disturbances in manufacturing process. The control system of such systems must cover a constant adaptation and high flexibility. Holonic Flexible Manufacturing Cell(HFMC) is introduced to handle these issues more successfully. It is based on the concept of autonomous co-operating agent, called 'Holon', which is a building block of a manufacturing system for transforming, transporting, storing and/or validating information and physical objects. In this paper the basic structure of the HFMC is represented by using Unified Modeling Language and Open architecture cell controller is developed for effective integration components of a manufacturing system. Also a new control model, called MuLOM(Multi-Layered Operation Model), is suggested to represent the control behaviour for a holonic flexible manufacturing cell control system.
Application of Ceramic Oxides to Low-voltage Varistor

In this study several P type and N type ceramic semiconductors were prepared by atomic valence control and their electric resistivities were investigated with various concentrations of additive impurities. N-P junctions were made by thin film printing method and their varistor-like characteristics were investigated and their availability was discussed. The results are followings, 1) Some N type semiconductors with a proper concentration of additive impurity have minimum resistivities. 2) The N-P junction samples with ZnO as a constituent material of N type semiconductor have linearity in voltage-current characteristics, but the other N-P junction samples have the non-linearity, 3) Some N-P junction samples showed the good varistor-like characteristics.
Control of Identifier of Chip Form by Adjusting Feedrate Used Neural Network Algorithm

The continuous chip in turning operation deteriorates the precision of workpiece and can cause a hazardous condition to operator. Thus the chip form control becomes a very important task for reliable turning process. Using the difference of energy radiated from the chip, the chip form is identified using the neural network of supervised data. The feed mechanism is adjusted in order to break continuous chip according to the result of the chip form recognition and shows a good approach for precision turning operation.
