An Emission Characteristics of a Controlled Auto-Ignition Gasoline Engine According to Variation of the Injection Timing

This work deals with a controlled auto-ignition (CAI) single cylinder gasoline engine, focusing on the extension of operating conditions. In order to keep a homogeneous air-fuel mixing, the fuel injector is water-cooled by a specially designed coolant passage. Investigated are the engine emission characteristics under the wide range of operating conditions such as 40 in the air-fuel ratio, 1000 to 1800 rpm in the engine speed,
in the inlet-air temperature, and
ATDC in the injection timing. A controlled auto-ignition gasoline engine which has the ultra lean-burn with self-ignition of gasoline fuel can be achieved by heating inlet air. It can be achieved that the emission concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides had been significantly reduced by CAI combustion compared with conventional spark ignition engine.
A Patent Analysis on Components Technologies of Absorption Refrigeration System

An analysis was conducted to predict technical trends for the highly efficient absorption refrigeration system. The study was based on submitted patent during January 1981 and December 2000 in Korea, Japan and U.S.A. The analysis are divided with two categories as component technology and refrigeration type technology. The analysis was focused on component technologies rather than the absorption cycle or system technologies.
The Evaluation of Mechanical Property of X20CrMoV12.1 Boiler Tube Steels

Boiler is one of the most important utilities providing steam to turbine in order to supply mechanical energy in thermal power plant. It is composed of thousands of tubes for high efficient heat transfer. The material for boiler tubes is used in such high temperature and pressure condition as
, 22MPa. The boiler tube material is required to resist creep damage, fatigue cracking, and corrosion damages. 2.25%Cr-1Mo steel is used for conventional boiler tubes, and austenitenite stainless steel is used for higher temperature boiler tubes. But the temperature and pressure of steam in power plant became higher for high plant efficiency. So, the property of boiler tube material must be upgaded to fit the plant property. Several boiler tube material was developed to fit such conditions. X20CrMoV12.1 steel is also developed in 1980's and used for superheater and reheater tubes in supercritical boilers. The material has martensite microstructures which is difficult to evaluate the degradation. In this thesis, degrade the X20CrMoV12.1 steel at high temperatures in electric furnace, and evaluate hardness with Vickers hardness tester and strengths with Indentation tester.
A Dynamic-explicit Finite Element Analysis for Hydro-forming Process

In this paper, a finite element formulation using dynamic-explicit time integration scheme is used for numerical analysis of Hydro-forming processes. The lumping scheme is employed for the diagonal mass matrix and dynamic explicit formulation. Hydro-forming process for auto-body panel forming is analyzed by using dynamic-explicit finite element method. Further, the simulated results of the Hydro-forming processes are shown and discussed. Its application is being increased especially in the automotive industrial area for the cost reduction, weight saving, and improvement of strength.
The Effects of Nb, V on the High Temperature Wear and Corrosion of the Overlaying Materials for Continuous Casting Rolls

In the steel making industries, the continuous casting process has been applied to the number of company because of its economical benefit. Casting rolls are utilized for frictional drive and transport of solidifying slap. Dimensional tolerances, mechanical stability and surface condition of the cast roll can affect both the surface and internal quality of the product being cast. To overcome these problems, the industry is accelerating on the rate of technology improvements. Samples were overlaid on the S45C steel by submerged arc welding process. And the hardness, wear, electrochemical corrosion and oxidation tests were carried out. Test results were that all these materials were satisfying basic requirements of caster rolls. By these results, the addition of 0.1%Nb and 0.15%V increase mechanical properties and tempering resistance by its superior carbide forming characteristics in low carbon
martensitic stainless steels.
Effect of Plating Condition and Plating Rate on the Magnetic Properties of Electroless Co-Cu-P Deposits

. The Br value of deposit was uniform with various concentration of complexing agent(sodium citrate) in the bath. The Br value of deposit was almost equal to that found by the addition of stabilizer (thiourea) and accelerator(NaF). The Br value of deposit was uniform in plating time(20min) and heat treatment temperature(below
), and were confirmed to have adequate bath stability for practical use.
Effect of Corrosion Characteristics in Relation to Loaded Stress in the Welded Zone of A5083-H116 Aluminum Alloy

Effect of corrosion characteristics in relation to loaded stress in the welded zone of A5083-H116 aluminum alloy, in the seawater was studied. The corrosion experiment was performed for 120 hours on the specimens in the natural seawater tank with four steps of the loaded stress. The corrosion crack, corrosion rate, electrode potential, current, and corrosion pattern, etc. were examined for the specimens with the elapse of the immersion time. The main result derived from this study is the crack growth length is increased with the increasing loaded stress. The electrode potential and the corrosion current are decreased rapidly in the early stage of the corrosion, and then decreased gradually and stabilized eventually with the elapse of the immersion time. The test condition of the longer crack growth tends to show the higher corrosion rate. Corrosion pattern of the welded zone indicates that the depth and width of the pitting become increasing with the increasing loaded stress.
The Detection of Defects in Ferromagnetic Materials Using Magneto-Optical Sensor

A new non-destructive inspection technique has been developed. One characteristic of the technique is that defects are visualized by laser ray. Magnetic domains and domain walls of a magneto-optical sensor(MO sensor) are varied by the magnetic flux leaked by defects, and the variations are observed by the reflected light of the laser ray. The information of defect can remotely be inspected by this technique in a real time. This paper describes the results estimated on the 2-dimensional surface defects and opposite-side defects in a ferromagnetic material and the natural surface defect in a clutch disk wheel. The light region of a visible image and the magnitude of a reflected light increases as the input current of the magnetizer increases. The natural surface defect, that has not the width of crack's open mouth, can be also visualized like as 2-dimensional artificial defects.
A Study on the Sway Control of a Container Crane with Varying Rope Length Based on Gain-Scheduling Approach

The sway motion control problem of a container hanging on the trolly is considered in the paper. In the container crane control problem, suppressing the residual swing motion of the container at the end of acceleration, deceleration or the case of that the unexpected disturbance input exists is main issue. For this problem, in general, many trolley motion control strategies are introduced and applied. In this paper, we introduce and synthesize a swing motion control system in which a small auxiliary mass is installed on the spreader made by ourselves. In this control system, the actuator reacting against the auxiliary mass applies inertial control forces to the container to reduce the swing motion in the desired manner. Especially, we apply the
based gain-scheduling control technique the anti-sway control system design problem of the controlled plant. In this control system, the controller dynamics are adjusted in real-time according to time-varying plant parameters. And the simulation result shows that the proposed control strategy is shown to be useful to the case of time-varying system and, robust to disturbances like winds and initial sway motion.
