A Study on Elementary Mathematics Teacher's Guide Book according to 2009 Revised Curriculum

The purpose of this study is to provide an opportunity for better understanding and application of 2009 revised elementary school mathematics textbooks through focus group's investigations on the elementary mathematics teacher's guide books. First, We survey previous studies on the teacher's guide books to make the frame of investigation. Next, We compose focus group(8 teachers) for 3~4th grades, and analyze the teacher's guide books according to ready-made frame: compliance of curriculum, accuracy and fairness of contents, selection and organization of contents. As results of investigation, system of organization of the teacher's guide books is needed. Goal, contents, teaching methods, and evaluations have to be consistent in describing mathematical terms. And errors in mathematics and mathematics education are examined more carefully. The teacher's guide books afford teachers many materials and informations to teach mathematics through classroom lessons. So more study on the teacher's guide books and developmental study for the model guidebooks is needed along with the revised curriculum and new textbooks.
Study on Mathematical Belief about Liberal art subject of Mathematics

This study aimed to understand the needs of changes in the teaching-learning environment in the university and to develop the liberal art subject of mathematics. The changes of mathematical belief in the university students were investigated to understand how the liberal art subject of mathematics affected them related to mathematics. Upon the study results, the significant changes were occurred from the utility factor on the subject of mathematics in mathematical belief, the importance factor of the answers in the teaching-learning belief, teaching activity factor of the teachers, and inborn capability factor in the belief on the self-concept. The meaningful learning environment and teaching method for the liberal art subject of mathematics are suggested further by these results.
A Study on the Teaching of Proofs using the Method of Infinite Descent

There are three subjects in the study. First, after investigating the development process of the method of infinite descent and the reduction to absurdity, we prove them to be equivalent each other. Second, we apply the method of infinite descent to some problems in textbook and compare it with the reduction to absurdity. Finally, we discuss on teaching proofs with the method of infinite descent.
A Study on Pre-service and In-service Teachers' of Primary School, Competence in Designing Mathematical Assessment Item Development

The purpose of this study is to investigate the assessment expertise of Mathematics' teachers, focusing on the competence in designing assessment item development. In this present research, I analysed how the teachers' competence appears in designing assessment items development when they generated problems the given problem into a new one. To examine this assumption, the following research questions were posed and investigated in the present study : How do Pre-service and In-service Teachers in primary schools develop the assessment item when generating problems the given problems into new problems? The result from the case study of metamorphosing the given problem into a new problem teachers used similar patterns switching numbers or changing units in order to develop new problems. Also, teachers in primary schools tend to develop problems as commonly as in the mathematics workbooks. In-service teachers tend to have better skills developing assessment items, but there were quite much of variability between individuals.
The Analysis of Linkage between Insurance Mathematics and School Mathematics

This study aims to investigate the presence/absence of subjects in the area of finance insurance sector in the past and corresponding areas of the courses in accordance with the reform of Korean school mathematics curriculum. In addition, the study had analyzed the linkage to the curriculum of the subjects for the Junior High, and High School in accordance with the school mathematics as mathematical knowledge base. As the results of this study, it was identified that the knowledge of mathematical contents addressed in the school mathematics education had a very high connectivity as basic mathematical knowledge to understand and utilize high level of the insurance mathematics required for the job performance in the finance insurance sector.
The Effect of Polya's Heuristics in Mathematical Problem Solving of Mild Disability Students

This study attempted to figure out new teaching method of mathematics teaching-learning by applying Polya's 4-level strategy to mild disability students at the H Special-education high school where the research works for. In particular, epilogue and suggestion, which Polya stressed were selected and reconstructed for mild disability students. Prior test and post test were carried by putting the Polya's problem solving strategy as independent variable, and problem solving ability as dependent variable. As a result, by continual use of Polya's program in mathematics teaching course, it suggested necessary strategies to solve mathematics problems for mild disability students and was proven that Polya's heuristic training was of help to improve problem solving in mathematics.
Exploratory discussions on an integrated approach to mathematics education

The integration of mathematics education is required Fundamentally discussion about the nature and purpose of mathematics education. After the theoretical discussion of that, Practical approach of that can be correctly realized. However, It is the impression that theoretical discussions and practical action about the current discourse about integration in mathematics education are the wrong order. To understand the practical action for the integrated approach in mathematics education, theoretical discussion of the integrated approach of mathematical education is properly required.
