An Interactive Approach Based on Genetic Algorithm Using Ridden Population and Simplified Genotype for Avatar Synthesis

In this paper, we propose an interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) to implement an automated 2D avatar synthesis. The IGA technique is capable of expressing user's personality in the avatar synthesis by using the user's response as a candidate for the fitness value. Our suggested IGA method is applied to creating avatars automatically. Unlike the previous works, we introduce the concepts of 'hidden population', as well as 'primitive avatar' and 'simplified genotype', which are used to overcome the shortcomings of IGA such as human fatigue or reliability, and reasonable rates of convergence with a less number of iterations. The procedure of designing avatar models consists of two steps. The first step is to detect the facial feature points and the second step is to create the subjectively optimal avatars with diversity by embedding user's preference, intuition, emotion, psychological aspects, or a more general term, KANSEI. Finally, the combined processes result in human-friendly avatars in terms of both genetic optimality and interactive GUI with reliability.
Blind Neural Equalizer using Higher-Order Statistics

This paper discusses a blind equalization technique for FIR channel system, that might be minimum phase or not, in digital communication. The proposed techniques consist of two parts. One is to estimate the original channel coefficients based on fourth-order cumulants of the channel output, the other is to employ RBF neural network to model an inverse system fur the original channel. Here, the estimated channel is used as a reference system to train the RBF. The proposed RBF equalizer provides fast and easy teaming, due to the structural efficiency and excellent recognition-capability of R3F neural network. Throughout the simulation studies, it was found that the proposed blind RBF equalizer performed favorably better than the blind MLP equalizer, while requiring the relatively smaller computation steps in tranining.
Cooperation of Time-delay for Internet-based Mobile Robot Using Fuzzy Logic

Recently, internet-based applications can be found easily in various felds. Internet-based telerobot system becomes one of important applications of internet. Among many important technological issues on the internet-based telerobot, time-delay is inherently critical problem to be solved. Time-delay is classified as micro time-delay and macro time-delay in this paper. Algorithms for compensation of path-error and time-error are proposed for the both types of time-delays using fuzzy logic since fuzzy logic is one of the best tools to represent expert's knowledge. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed algorithms.
Cooperative Behavior of Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems Based on Schema Co-Evolutionary Algorithm

In distributed autonomous robotic systems (DARS), each robot must behave by itself according to its states ad environments, and if necessary, must cooperate with other robots in order to carry out their given tasks. Its most significant merit is that they determine their behavior independently, and cooperate with other robots in order to perform the given tasks. Especially, in DARS, it is essential for each robot to have evolution ability in order to increase the performance of system. In this paper, a schema co-evolutionary algorithm is proposed for the evolution of collective autonomous mobile robots. Each robot exchanges the information, chromosome used in this algorithm, through communication with other robots. Each robot diffuses its chromosome to two or more robots, receives other robot's chromosome and creates new species. Therefore if one robot receives another robot's chromosome, the robot creates new chromosome. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by applying it to cooperative search problem.
Design of Intelligent Insulation Degradation Sensor

Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning in regard to electrical equipment defects. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. For solving this problem, many researchers proposed a method that diagnose power plant by using partial discharge. In this paper, we design the intelligent sensor to diagnose insulation degradation state that uses a Microprocessor and Al. Proposed sensor has MCU that is used to diagnose insulation degradation and communicate with main IDD system. And we use a fuzzy model to diagnose insulation degradation.
Development of New Algorithm for RWA Problem Solution on an Optical Multi-Networks

This paper considers the problem of routing connections in a optical multi tree networks using WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing), where each connection between a pair of nodes in the network is assigned a path through the network and a wavelength on that path, so that connections whose paths share a common link in the network are assigned different wavelengths. The problem of optimal coloring of the paths on the optical multi-networks is NP-hard, but if that is the coloring of all paths, then there exists efficient polynomial time algorithm. In this paper, using a "divide & conquer" method, we give efficient algorithm to assign wavelengths to all the paths of a tree network based on the theory of . Here, our time complexity is 0(n4log n).
Fuzzy Modeling of a surface Deformation for Virtual Environment

In this paper, a 3D model of the surface deformation is created in virtual environment. A proposed method is based on the fuzzy model and it is enough that only one rule set is added to the fuzzy model to model a surface deformation. Furthermore, the designer can easily determine which parameters should be used and how they should be changed in order to obtain the shapes as required. The proposed method is, thus, a simple, but effective technique that can also be used in practical applications. The results of the computer simulation are also given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

The interest of data mining in artificial intelligence with fuzzy logic has been increased. Data mining is a process of extracting desirable knowledge and interesting pattern ken large data set. Because of expansion of WWW, web data is more and more huge. Besides mining web contents and web structures, another important task for web mining is web usage mining which mines web log data to discover user access pattern. The goal of web usage mining in this paper is to find interesting user pattern in the web with user feedback. It is very important to find user's characteristic fer e-business environment. In Customer Relationship Management, recommending product and sending e-mail to user by extracted users characteristics are needed. Using our method, we extract user profile from the result of web usage mining. In this research, we concentrate on finding association rules and verify validity of them. The proposed procedure can integrate fuzzy set concept and association rule. Fuzzy association rule uses given server log file and performs several preprocessing tasks. Extracted transaction files are used to find rules by fuzzy web usage mining. To verify the validity of user's feedback, the web log data from our laboratory web server.
Generalized Fuzzy Quantitative Association Rules Mining with Fuzzy Generalization Hierarchies

Association rule mining is an exploratory learning task to discover some hidden dependency relationships among items in transaction data. Quantitative association rules denote association rules with both categorical and quantitative attributes. There have been several works on quantitative association rule mining such as the application of fuzzy techniques to quantitative association rule mining, the generalized association rule mining for quantitative association rules, and importance weight incorporation into association rule mining fer taking into account the users interest. This paper introduces a new method for generalized fuzzy quantitative association rule mining with importance weights. The method uses fuzzy concept hierarchies fer categorical attributes and generalization hierarchies of fuzzy linguistic terms fur quantitative attributes. It enables the users to flexibly perform the association rule mining by controlling the generalization levels for attributes and the importance weights f3r attributes.
Image Recognition by Learning Multi-Valued Logic Neural Network

This paper proposes a method to apply the Backpropagation(BP) algorithm of MVL(Multi-Valued Logic) Neural Network to pattern recognition. It extracts the property of an object density about an original pattern necessary for pattern processing and makes the property of the object density mapped to MVL. In addition, because it team the pattern by using multiple valued logic, it can reduce time f3r pattern and space fer memory to a minimum. There is, however, a demerit that existed MVL cannot adapt the change of circumstance. Through changing input into MVL function, not direct input of an existed Multiple pattern, and making it each variable loam by neural network after calculating each variable into liter function. Error has been reduced and convergence speed has become fast.

In this paper, we develop the intelligent digitally redesigned fuzzy controller for nonlinear systems. Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model is used to model the nonlinear systems and a continuous-time fuzzy-model-based controller is designed based on the extended parallel-distributed-compensation(EPDC) method . The digital controllers are determined from existing analogue controllers. The proposed method provides an accurate and effective method for digital control of continuous-time nonlinear systems and enables us to efficiently implement a digital controller via the pre-determined continuous-time 75 fuzzy-model-based controller. We have applied the proposed method to the duffing forced oscillation system to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.
Iris Segmentation and Recognition

A new iris segmentation and recognition method is described. Combining a statistical classification and elastic boundary fitting, the iris is first segmented robustly and accurately. Once the iris is segmented, one-dimensional signals are computed in the iris and decomposed into multiple frequency bands. Each decomposed signal is approximated by a piecewise linear curve connecting a small set of node points. The node points represent features of each signal. The similarity measture between two iris images is the normalized cross-correlation coefficients between simplified signals.

In this paper, we present an analysis and design method fur the control of input-saturated nonlinear systems with the time-delay. The target system is represented by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model and the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) controller is designed to guarantee the local stability of the equilibrium point. We derive the sufficient condition for the local stability by applying Lyapunov-krasovskii theorem and this condition is converted into the LMI problem.
Representation of hand written decimal digits by n sequence of fuzzy sets

In this paper, we describe how to represent hand witten decimal digits by a sequence of one to five fuzzy sets. Each fuzzy set represents an arc segment of the digit and is a Cartesian product of four fuzzy sets; the first is fur the arc length of the segment, the second is for the arc direction, the third is fur the arc shape, and the fourth is a crisp number indicating whether it has a junction point and if it has an end point of a stroke. We show that an arbitrary pair of these sequences representing two different digits is mutually disjoint. We also show that various forms of a digit written in different styles can be represented by the same sequence of fuzzy sets and hence the deviations due to different writers can be modeled by using these fuzzy sets.
Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller Using Command Fusion Method and Genetic Algorithm

According to increase of the factory-automation(FA) in the field of production, the importance of the autonomous guided vehicle's(AGV) role has also increased. This paper is about an active and effective controller which can flexibly prepare for changeable circumstances. For this study, research about an behavior-based system evolving by itself is also being considered. In this Paper, we constructed an active and effective AGV fuzzy controller to be able to carry out self-organization. To construct it, we tuned suboptimally membership function using a genetic algorithm(GA) and improved the control efficiency by self-correction and the generation of control rules.
